Hey I want a bit of help about how to comment specifically on smut fics... I always find it So, so difficult to comment on them even if I normally have such an easy time commenting on other types of fic... Idk what to say so they just end up sitting upon on my tabs on my phone forever....

However, an interesting thing I just noticed is that if you blank out the word "smut" from your ask, the example comments I listed could be used in any other kind of fic. So...since you're already comfortable with commenting, I think the root of your problem is that it is your perception and mentality around smut fic specifically.

For some reason, you may view smut fic differently from other types of fic and put it in a different category in your mind. I'm not going to tell you that you have to get over yourself or view smut fic differently (and to some extent, I suspect that smut fic writers understand and perhaps even expect the social/personal shyness of their readers), but if you really have it in your heart to comment, I would say try leaving a short, generic comment first, and once you feel like smut fics are a safe space, then have at it :)

Don't worry about comparing yourself to how you comment on other types of fic. Just accept that commenting on smut fics is more difficult for you, and adjust your expectations for yourself. You leaving even a single emoji is probably more than 95% of a fic's readers, so don't beat yourself up about not being able to leave a coherent comment. I love your attitude about wanting to comment on smut fics! Thank you for reading and (trying to) comment!

July 2024 fic roundup

Here are the highlights from this month! I really love doing these. It helps me be more engaged with what I’m reading and actually remember individual fics once I’m done with them (rather than stuffing them in the collective “fic soup” in my brain, where they’ll combine together until there’s no hope of remembering details). Classic, cozy, cabin-in-the-woods fic where our two favorite agents get snowed in and finally admit their feelings for each other.

🏥👻 Finding Rokovoko by prufrockslove

An instant addition to my holy grail list! This is the first fic I’ve read by this legendary author (I think?), and BOY HOWDY do I see why they’re so revered. I finished this fic in one sitting, reading late into the night (yes, I was very tired at work the next day).

I think it’s best if you go into this one mostly blind. All you need to know is that MSR are teetering on the knife’s edge between UST and RST, there’s plenty of cancer arc angst, and they go on a spooky adventure that will give you the creepy crawlies.

���📱 Belphegor’s Prime by prufrockslove

Another absolute banger from the legend themselves. This fic is as close to perfection as humanly possible. The way everything comes together is just incredible. If you haven’t read it yet, do it now! Shirk all other responsibilities and devour this fic in one sitting!

One of my favorite things about this fic is how ruthless Mulder is. I don’t think I’ve encountered a version of him quite like this anywhere else. His intense love for his family and his innate sense of duty are intensified to the point where he skirts the boundaries of what’s morally acceptable. He’s so desperate to protect his loved ones and fix the world that he will do anything, even if he risks becoming his father(s). It felt so organic and natural for him to become that version of himself under the extreme circumstances.

Anyway, if you’re a fan of time travel, DILFs, or characters whose greatest strengths become a curse, this is the perfect fic for you!

A s6 casefic where M&S go undercover at a traveling carnival. I love how fleshed-out the OCs were — it really raised the stakes of the story and made you care what happened to them. Such a fun read!

This is one of those fics that leaves you gobsmacked that someone wrote this for free and posted it online for anyone to enjoy. The amount of detail in this story is truly unbelievable. I don’t even normally like total AUs, but this one won me over!

Mulder and Scully’s medieval counterparts are so far removed from anything in canon, yet they still feel exactly like the characters we know and love. This fic is an absolute master class in characterization. I am now a prufrockslove stan account.

#1 The dialogue. You HAVE to understand, I was kicking my feet up, giggling so much. The way you incorporated Jade's down bad behavior into his thoughts which slightly differs from his dialogue- AH ┻⁠┻⁠︵⁠ヽ⁠(⁠`⁠Д⁠´⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠︵⁠┻⁠┻ I LOVE IT !!!!

#2 Deception. YOU REALLY CAPTURED JADE'S PERSONA HERE. His mildly hidden deception > < ) Oh the chokehold he has on me rn cause of ur fic!!! Bro was lying straight from his gaping serrated maw 🫶 And it was perfect! I was jumping up and down every time I saw the contrast in his thoughts and words, I can not STRESS the fact that I ended up laughing so heartily on that scene where he straight up lied to MC about the possible pregnancy; You're way of story telling and build up is so 👌✨ *chef's kiss*

#3 The interaction. Between Y/N and Jade is so 😩👉👈💗💓💘 Surprisingly, this is one of your most gentlest Jade in the Jade multiverse and it was certainly a treat. I feel like I was just fed a full course meal for free. Definitely an unforgettable experience (⁠๑⁠♡⁠⌓⁠♡⁠๑⁠) I mean, as IF Jade would ever let you forget about what happened. THE BANTER ?!?! The banter. Golden. MC's genuine concern vs Jade's hornybrained desperation (⁠*⁠˘⁠︶⁠˘⁠*⁠)⁠.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ Yummy !

I'm so happy all of those aspects of the fic were enjoyable!! I wanted to try my hand at writing another version of Jade who is soft and sweet. Writing from his pov is so fun, especially when he's in his mating season and is so very desperate and down bad. >:D as someone who is also very dedicated to Azul Nation, I fear Jade is trying to creep his way into my heart...... more than Azul!!!! >_< truly, we must all remain strong for tako!!!!!!

I really can't thank you enough for your kind words!!! I loved writing this type of Jade, and I think his relationship with the reader is very cute. Reader who is genuinely concerned for him contrasted with Jade's own one-track horny brain. I had fun writing all of his moray behaviors!! The gaping maw and the need to hunt an absurd amount of food for you in order to provide for mate. orz aaaaa his rizz is questionable, but his heart is in the right place (mostly ;;;; he's still lying about a few things, but that won't matter once you're knocked up).

I think a Jade who is vulnerable like this is very wonderful. He plays submissive just to better manipulate you, but it's difficult to tell where the line between act and truth is. <3 what a menace...... orz

Just completed reading Chapter 1 of TW4. Oh God the writer you🫠. You are a BLESSING to Klaroline FD Honey 🤌.

I felt a whole lot of emotions flowing through me while reading this chapter ❤️‍🩹

Firstly, Caroline Forbes is born to be a badass Queen 👑 and You my friend made sure we see this queens actions and determination to get back her family and her King through your excellent writing.

I really loved the interaction between the amazing mom-daughter duo 🥺 Eve my love is such a mixture of her Father and Mother. (Will she also have traits of her uncle and aunt 🤔)

Secondly, The way you write Klaus. Yeah he is such an arrogant ass even being a prisoner. But I love that idiot for these qualities 🫠 ( Stupid me🤧)

I was tearing up when he asked Vincent about his Caroline 😭 ( My babies are missing each other so bad❤️‍🩹😭)

Finally, my guilty pleasure, Caroline and Elijah reunion🤧🥹. Oh how much I missed them both.

I have to give it to you, I don't know why but after Klaroline I crave for Care- Elijah scenes ( You made me become so addictive to their dynamic by your perfect writing 😅🥺)

Now I am really waiting for the reunion of My babies 🤧 They have been away from each other for far too long (which they don't deserve). And also for Klaus to meet his Little wolf after 5 long years (Oh the Dad-Daughter Reunion 🤧😭).

Chapters where I objctively don't have Klaus and Caroline interacting always make me double nervous. I'm a naturally anxious, obsessive person, but this really gets to me. It doesn't happen very often, but there were a couple throughout the story and this is another one. Even when they're together in a scene, I still try to make a point of making the whole thing always about them somehow (because who are we kidding, this is the sole reason I'm writing this), but I never know how successful it will turn out until I post it. I used to have a test audience, but I don't anymore so it's always a surprise. 😂 So reactions like this really make my day and help make me more confident going forward. 🥹

And thank you for bringing up Klaus actually. 😂 I had a lot more fun writing him being a level A little shit while imprisoned than I should. I especially made that whole scene with Alistair a lot more dramatic than it was. Klaus didn't kill half the people or said half the things he did there on the show. lol He went in a completely primal derangement state there and I really liked writing that part. So I'm especially glad that you enjoyed it!

And then of course we went from that to him asking Vincent about Caroline, so. 🥲 From 100 to 0 in a second. 👌

Just want to say your Haru post is exquisite 👌👌 Little sad about all the tags shifting Futaba into the 'one that would hate Akechi' when she was also kind to him! Futaba ALSO offered him a place on the team, she has less elegance about it than Haru but she'd also be kind to Akechi. And saying she would because her palace was about wrath, she asked the thieves to change her own heart, came into the metaverse and confronted her shadow in the palace. That involved letting go of her anger and wrath that kept her trapped in her own hurt. Which doesn't mean she *can't* be angry but it's also not something she WANTS to be, she doesn't want to be caught up in her anger and hurt anymore. So I just can't imagine her with a vicious hatred of Akechi similarly to how I can't imagine Haru that way. They would both be kind, especially as they can see Akechi was someone who was also deeply hurt and trapped by that hurt (both metaphorically and literally in the Shido situation) and who was beginning to change. They won't forgive him, but they would be kind. Sorry for the rant in your inbox lol just You Get It for their characters I think

Don't apologize for ranting you're so correct and right I completely agree. Futaba's wrath was targeted toward herself for being the one who "killed" her mom because she blamed herself. She overcomes that self hatred by realizing the people she should be angry with are the adults who took from her. And I don't think she sees Akechi as one of those adults at all. He's a victim of those adults, manipulated by them just like she was. She sees Shido as her mother's killer, not Akechi.

I do think she's still going to have anger towards him, because of course she will things are not black and white, but she doesn't hold him singularly or primarily responsible. She sees herself in him and sees him as essentially the same as the rest of the Thieves and herself, and she says as much in the engine room. They both lost their mothers and blamed themselves. They both isolated themselves and only Futaba received salvation from that loneliness before it was too late. I don't agree with people who say they don't have common ground the same way Akechi does with Haru. Akechi shares similarities with ALL the Thieves, including Futaba, and she realizes that and relates to him because of that.

I do think she is going to razz and tease him incessantly, partially because he is a lame nerd and partially because she is upset with him and that's a way for her to express her complicated feelings without totally confronting them. But I think reconciliation and friendship between them is more than possible. Futaba and Akechi friendship is literally my favorite friendship between Akechi and one of the Thieves to explore, I've written three different fics with them (one not yet published) because I think there is just so much potential between them.

Futaba is a more blunt and less "nice" person in general than Haru is (it's the autism) but I think she'd treat Akechi like one of their own, just like Haru would. She doesn't exclude him in third semester. That's not to say things wouldn't be complicated or difficult first, because they absolutely would be. She does say in third sem that she isn't fully comfortable with him being there and decides mostly to ignore him, unlike Haru who actively engages with him in conversation in Mementos. But that doesn't mean it has to be that way forever! If they're both willing to talk about things and work through it I think they could get past that rift and build something new together.

I love futabagoro friendship sooooo much. I genuinely think Akechi could be friends with ALL of the Thieves. Because they are kind! They are all SO SO kind and compassionate in a way he doesn't comprehend and that is the POINT! If he lived and decided to try to mend things they'd all welcome him and I will stand by that forever.

I was Obsessed with this one drama show called “resurrection” when I was like 12 (I’m fully convinced I’m the only person who’s ever seen it isdkdj) and it was about these people that died randomly came back to life (duh) set in this small town in Missouri I think and I really don’t remember too much about it other than these 2 or 3 fucked up scenes that decided to stick in my head for the last like 9 years ANYWAYS!

picture this, (dally somehow lives au because Im in charge around these parts aka the gdocs.. maybe) it’s been like 6-10 years since johnny died and pony is moving on, he’s back in OK for some reason and just when you think it’s a ponyboy centric fic BOOM johnny pov 😧 he’s up he wakes up in some murky waters (where #the church used to be since irl the movie set is a lake or something now lol) and he goes back to tulsa and finds pony and co, something something dally Johnny angst something something pony Johnny angst something something everyone angst something something something the end! this will rot in the docs I just needed to explode

Omg, that sounds awesome, if you ever think of posting, lmk, although I understand completely having stories sit in your head for years (I started writing some original fiction in my teens and the characters still live in my head although they will never see the light of day).
