Although they try to uproot us, I wanna #protectblacknerdhood to be specific.

The way #ourdreams get cut short, one has to wonder: how do little Black Boys and Black Girls grow?

Can you imagine #therosethatgrewfromconcrete in an environment designed to help it #bloom?

Peace to the #AfricanGoddess Oshun and the divine power of #Ase.

This is for our brothers and sisters out here #wateringtheseeds, showing the Black Youth a better way.

Why should #BlackExcellence be compelled to slip through the cracks when #melaninmagic is present in the cosmos, the heavens, and in water? If a tree grows in Brooklyn, imagine our sons and daughters in full bloom?

But BOOM! Black Caterpillars don’t get to be Black Butterflies…

Here’s the elephant in the room: I don’t wanna resurrect as a hashtag when I die; lord don’t let me reincarnate as a hashtag when I die.

Kaboom! There goes another Black Lives Matter hashtag. Oops! My bad. Hold on, the trend’s gone. Why does it looks like the plight of Black Life is shorter than the life span of butterflies?

Imagine the answers to the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” when “I want to be alive!” is no longer the primary concern.

Imagine our town when the saints and poets are granted a safe space to realize life. Imagine the Black Literary Landscape when landmark decisions are no longer a primary concern.

Some day I’ll write about lilies and lilac and maybe, jus’ maybe, I won’t feel out of place in the lily white communities that buy that… but as of now, I’ll continue to plant seeds of hope and dig deep to get to the bottom line of social ills like: Have you wondered why “The Good Christians” that oppose a flag being burned never have a problem with church being bombed or a cross being burned?
