Hi! In line with Josephine and Niamh, what would it be like if they're were both ambassadors who worked frequently with each other???
Oh! Well, as luck would have it, I have a WIP regarding that type of scenario too! It's not as fleshed-out as my other Niamh/Josephine AU, which is why I originally opted to post that one up instead. 😂 Anyway, here is a list of my current thoughts for this verse thus far!
Things to Know:
No Blight of Darkspawn threat.
The Circle of Magi doesn’t exist, so mages live freely.
The Veil was never torn apart, so elves also live freely in addition to being rather long-lived.
This verse will take place around the Inquisition timeline in 9:41 Dragon since that's also around the same time Josephine would be trying to restore her family's landed trader status in Orlais. As such, Josephine would be 28 and Niamh 33.
Since The Landsmeet consists of various noble houses and operates as official legislative body in Ferelden outside of the King and/or Queen, Niamh has been serving as her family's liaison within it since she was 19.
However, Niamh was given the title of Royal Archmage at age 23 during Queen Anora's coronation since she'd been instrumental in helping the other woman secure her place on the throne following the untimely death of King Cailan a year earlier. Enough of The Landsmeet had argued Alistair, Cailan's half-brother, should be crowned instead since he was next in line to rule. As a close friend of his, however, Niamh knew Alistair was terrified of such a prospect since being King was never something he wanted.
As a means of giving Alistair a way out, Niamh gathered evidence detailing just how much more involved Anora was in various legislative and diplomatic matters around the country in comparison to her late husband. This succeeded in overturning several crucial hold-out votes within The Landsmeet, and Anora was declared Queen.
Because of Niamh's initiative in the matter, however, many were able to see her utter brilliance in diplomacy closehand. As such, no one objected when she was raised in position to be a part of Anora's inner circle as Royal Archmage, serving as the country's lead strategist and ambassador.
Niamh's largely been well-respected in various diplomatic circles around Thedas by the time Josephine enters the scene in her early twenties. There would definitely some initial hero worship on Josephine's part when they meet, but I think Niamh would also be interested in watching how Josephine's career unfolds, given what she's heard of her accomplishments thus far.
They cross paths frequently over the years—enough that they make the time to get together for lunch or some such whenever they're both in the same city. While they try not to involve work too much in their discussions, it does happen on occasion. By then, however, they respect one another's abilities enough to where they both often act as a sounding board for the other to gather their thoughts and brainstorm plans to see them through.
They do share gossip when it comes to the dignitaries they have to work with though and give each other strategies on how to best deal with them. "Duke Von Ahn enjoys hearing himself talk, which can be rather problematic when one is working on a limited timeframe. He has a weakness for those little truffles found in the chocolaterie near the waterside though. Kindly ply him with a few if you're trying to get the meeting back on schedule."
When Josephine becomes Antiva's Chief Ambassador to Orlais, Niamh's thrilled for her, and she travels to Orlais for the resulting masquerade in her honor. It's a type of event that Niamh rarely volunteers to go outside of official matters, and her closest friends and relatives definitely pick up on that right away... 😏
Nothing in their immediate friendship changes with one another though—at least not until Josephine's messengers are consequently killed when she tries to restore her family's trading status.
Knowing that Josephine's in danger definitely jumpstarts a lot of Niamh's feelings, especially when an unexpected—but ultimately unsuccessful—assassination attempt on Josephine's life occurs.
They probably share a mutual love confession just as the matter with the House of Repose and all the legal red tape gets settled.
Of course, in true dramatic fashion, their new relationship gets rocked when Josephine's parents arrange a betrothal of their daughter to Lord Otranto, completely unaware Josephine's in love with Niamh. 🤣
While I don't envision an actual duel between Niamh and Otranto happening in this verse, I can imagine NIamh going to great lengths to prove her love and devotion to Josephine. If you're familiar with the floating lantern scene in Tangled, then imagine Niamh arranging several hundred of these to be made (she had to pull in so many favors by her friends and family to get this done on time 😂) in honor of Josephine's birthday in Antiva, which she attends.
The lanterns get released that same evening ("One last birthday present! I promise!"), but since Niamh still has access to magic in most of her AUs, she uses her powers to crowd some of the lanterns together in specific patterns to spell out a message that leaves most of the party's guests completely astonished. Josephine is as equally dumbfounded as she rereads the words displayed so prominently in the night sky, but it isn't until she catches sight of Niamh kneeling before her, ring in hand, that they finally register to her.
Niamh's speech as she proposes: "I know I can't wreathe you in all the stars in heaven that you so rightfully deserve, but I can only hope this humble attempt will be enough. Josephine, will you do me the greatest honor by becoming my wife?"
And there you have it! I'm sorry that I don't have an actual scene for this AU written just yet, but I hope you like the little ideas I have so far! Thanks for sending this in!

Fic: raised on the edge of the devil’s backbone
Title: raised on the edge of the devil’s backbone Fandoms: Overwatch & Leverage Characters/Pairings: Jesse McCree, The Leverage OT3 (Parker/Eliot/Hardison) Summary: Jesse grew up on fairy tales where the bad guys are good guys and all justice needs is a little leverage. He hasn't believed in fairy tales for a long time.
They hadn’t meant to leave their children a war, the three of them, but that's the way the world crumbled.
--
Aka the Leverage/Overwatch crossover that no one actually asked for.
Blame a re-watch of Leverage, McCree starring in my other current WIP, and a certain line about a huckleberry.
(I'm aware the timeline doesn't quite work out (as far as I can tell), but I'm not one to let a plot weasel go to waste.)
--
The stories that his folks told him and his sisters, growing up, Jesse knew that they were nothing more than bedtime stories. Fairy tales to try and convince a couple of kids that the world was not always as bad as it had once been. Or rather, that it had, but that there had been heroes once. That someone had cared enough to do something. That before the world had fallen apart, there had been heroes, and champions, and people willing to do what was right.
His mother and fathers had thought the world of the three of them, their kids. They never told the kids which one of them was whose--it didn't matter, they were family. Sophia had gotten their mother’s blonde hair, curling out in a frizz. Maggie never freckled, saw systems with her startlingly blue eyes like a game she could beat. All three of them got their mother’s light fingers, their fathers’ quick minds, their own unique talents. All with that big heart lying under everything that would’ve buried it deep beneath the simple business of trying to survive in a world gone mad.
They hadn’t meant to leave their children a war. Jesse once remembered a whispered argument, or so it had sounded, between his folks, late at night when the kids were all in bed, supposedly. His mother, insisting they could have done more. Papa reassuring her in hushed tones, Dad gripping the back of the chair like it could give answers if he squeezed hard enough.
His mother’s final foray into blaming herself in some way was met with Dad thumping the palm of his hand onto the back of the chair. “Gonna check on the kids,” Dad muttered to the other two as he walked toward where Jesse had been hiding on the stairs.
Dad hadn’t been fooled for a second at Jesse’s curled-up form under the blankets, feigning sleep. He’d heard the thumping of little feet trying to not thump. Unlike his sisters he hadn’t quite learned that skill yet. Dad sat down on his bed, ruffling his hair with a fond hand. “Hey, kiddo. What’re you doing up at this hour?”
Jesse had given up the play-acting immediately, sitting up in bed, giving a shrug. “Dunno. Couldn’t sleep.”
“Were you eavesdropping?”
“Yeah.” He didn’t even think of denying it. “Mom says it’s how you learn things sometimes.”
Dad laughed, but it didn’t sound like the kind of laugh you gave when you were happy. “There is that.”
Jesse twisted up his mouth in a frown, not understanding most of what he’d heard. “What’d mom mean? When she, when she was talking about stopping the robots?”
His father’s calloused hand stroked through Jesse’s hair as he thought, soothing. “There are a lotta woulda, coulda, shouldas in this world. Your mom’s just thinking about one of those. That’s all.”
Jesse didn’t understand it, but couldn’t figure out how to get around that not-understanding in his head, so he let it go. Years later, when he was older, there were so many questions he regretted not asking, but back then he was a child, and if Dad said it was so, then it was so.
Jesse once remembered a time when he thought his parents had stolen the stars to hang in the sky, believed his mother when she said the moon was the greatest heist she just hadn’t pulled yet, thought his fathers could protect him and his sisters from the rest of the world.
That had been a long time ago.
He always knew his parents were criminals of some kind, but then, who wasn’t, in this new world? There were the criminals and the dead, eventually. Even if some of those crimes were small, petty things, things that a court, if things still worked the way they once had, wouldn’t even bother with. Neglect and little cruelties that leaked through into his sheltered world on occasion. He was the youngest, the baby, but he had a good eye. Jesse never missed much, growing up.
Jesse feels like his world should have been shattered in a single moment or maybe night of high drama, fleeing and blood and darkness. Something suitably dramatic, like something out of one of his parents’ stories. But instead their safety had seeped away, drips and drabs and long nights sleeping in the back of Papa’s van as his folks drove.
He remembers his folks arguing long and low with Sophia, that night she left. That she felt she could make a difference in this fight, and wasn’t that what they had always taught her? And Dad’s eyes seemed so far away and Mom seemed like she was gonna cry and Pops circled back to the arguments he’d pulled out forty minutes before.
In the end, she had left with one of Dad’s friends, Mom whispering advice into her hair and Pops reassuring her that if she changed her mind, at any moment, they’d be there, all she had to do was say the word, and…
“You’re really going?”
Sophia crouched, ruffling his hair. Jesse swiped it back into place. “I got to, baby bro.”
Jesse crossed his arms, half-self-consciously trying to mimic one of Dad’s poses. She just laughed, gathering him into a hug. “Don’t give me that look. I’ll keep in touch. And I’ll be back.”
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
Jesse learned later not to make promises he couldn’t keep. He never blamed her for that one, but it had still hurt. Never officially declared, of course. Things had been too chaotic, by then. But Pops had looked and looked, and every time Dad would come back without Sophia and it seemed like something in Mom went behind a locked door, after that. A door he didn’t know how to open, even with all his parents had taught him.
Maggie hadn’t even been a victim of the war, not really. First responders went into dangerous and deadly situations all the time, Jesse knew that. That building could have collapsed on anyone. Jesse knew, but it didn’t make it any better.
Not for his folks, either. They clung to him tighter, but got more distant, Jesse the one thing they hadn’t lost yet, besides each other. They whispered in secrets to each other more often, Dad going hard-eyed and tight-lipped whenever Jesse was around. No more easily-forgiven eavesdropping in those days. The other problem was that the tighter they held onto Jesse, the more his budding teenage rebellion grew. He stopped trying to listen in, stopped trying to get behind those doors and walls all three of his parents had hidden themselves behind, and so he drifted away.
He remembers the last time he saw them, though maybe not exactly as it happened. He isn’t sure how much of a teenage asshole he was. A fair bit of one, he knows, from the way Pops had rolled his eyes, from Mom’s pained smile. He remembers Dad was serious, drilling Jesse on where the emergency cash was, how to get out, what to do, when, how, Jesse playing along in pre-teen irony.
Dad caught the irony, of course. Did that thing where he looked like four different things tried to come out of his mouth at once, and finally gave up, grabbing Jesse in a crushing hug. “Dad!”
Despite protest, Dad hadn’t let him go for a good long moment. “Hold down the fort for us.” Abruptly he released Jesse, bracing him, then turned and grabbed up his duffel in one swift motion.
Pops watched him go, then pulled Jesse into a hug too, far less over-bearing than Dad’s had been. “What your dad said.”
Jesse was a little unnerved now, the weirdness of the situation seeping through his ironic detachment. “Y-yeah, of course, Pops.”
Then it was mom’s turn for a brisk squeeze of a hug and she was leaving too. House to himself for a weekend, that’s what they had told him. He had believed them.
“We’ll be back,” Mom nodded firmly, then shut the door behind her.
At least she hadn’t promised, Jesse thought later. After.
Jesse was never sure what happened to them, still isn’t. Heard rumors, of course. He could have found out, he was sure, sifted through everything and found the truth hidden among the lies. But he chose to believe the stories he’d heard, the ones that sounded like a fairytale, full of justice and honor and a little bit of payback. He’d been worried, then scared, then everything his folks had taught him had kicked in. Before he knew it he was going down the only path open to him, the one to survival.
Later on, after the blood on his hands and a second chance, Jesse still chose to believe in something. Maybe it wasn’t your traditional fairy story, but a man had to have something to cling to. And what Jesse knew was that maybe there was justice to be found in the world, and maybe there wasn’t, but you couldn’t do a damn thing without leverage

You're (We're) Not Alone Anymore by minishadowsoul
Carlos & Jay, Mal & Jay & Evie & Carlos & Ben, Friendship/Gen, Families of Choice, Fluff, Backstory, Complete, 7k
On the Isle everyone took care of themselves. Anything less was admitting weakness, and the children of villains were not allowed to have weaknesses. They still have problems admitting they need help, but that’s okay. They have each other, now, and one person’s problem is everyone’s problem.
Or the one where Carlos gets sick and everyone takes care of him and pretends they aren’t panicking
Part 1 of Family Means Your Problems Are Our Problems
We Rally Together by minishadowsoul
Mal/Ben, Mal & Jay & Evie & Carlos & Ben, Friendship/Gen, Families of Choice, Fluff, Complete, 4k
Something is going on, and Ben is going to find out what. Because he is the king and these people are his friends. And he can handle this. No, really, he can and will handle this. Even if everyone smirks at him and tries to handle their problems all on their own.
Or the one in which everyone helps Mal deal with a problem and Ben solves everything with an awkward, off-screen phone call.
Part 2 of Family Means Your Problems Are Our Problems
We Take Care of the Things You've Forgotten by minishadowsoul
Ben/Mal, Mal & Jay & Evie & Carlos & Ben, Friendship/Gen, Families of Choice, Complete, 2.2k
Evie is very good at taking care of everyone else. She likes to stay busy but often forgets she needs to do things like eat and take naps and maybe take a break before she throws her textbook out the window.

Part 3 of Family Means Your Problems Are Our Problems
There Is Nothing Wrong With Being Yourself by minishadowsoul
Mal/Ben, Jay & Carlos, Jay & Ben, Mal & Jay & Evie & Carlos & Ben, Ace Jay, Friendship/Gen, Families of Choice, Complete, 8k
They know being raised on the Isle makes them different from everyone else. Normally, these differences don't bother them. Then Jay begins to worry that some differences are irredemable but refuses to talk about it until things reach the breaking point.
Or the one in which Jay panics a lot, Mal awkwardly figures out what is going on, Ben is sort of but not really kicked out of his own room, and sexuality probably should have been explained more
Part 4 of Family Means Your Problems Are Our Problems
Better Than Fairy Godparents by minishadowsoul
Mal/Ben, Mal & Jay & Evie & Carlos & Ben, Friendship/Gen, Families of Choice, Complete, 4k
Ben is a king now. He is used to a life filled with people constantly looking out for him. One would think that would mean he'd be used to his four, newest friends taking care of him, too. They would be wrong. These four take Looking Out For One Another to an entirely new level.
Or the one in which whenever Ben has a problem, he blinks and finds that problem has been solved/is being solved before he can even complain about it.

Stone Age AU Official (1.02)
This list will be updated and edited whenever some ideas come up.
Lore of creation:
Read here
Environment
The time era and continent is not really important and thus, not decided. They aren’t on our Earth, but rather a version of prehistoric DBZ Earth. There are dinosaurs and other animals like saber-toothed tigers., etc. hanging around. Also herds of herbivores like prehistoric deer and stuff.
Their vast land is separated from the rest of the world by five enormous mountains. None of them dares to venture near/over the mountain because of a story about a giant scary green snake (It can fly too!!!) living outside. So yeah, they pretty much trapped themselves.
They live in a forest There are also meadows here and there. Yet to be discovered is a cove close to the West mountain.
The weather, not so sure, I’d say it’s pleasant and there are two season: raining season and dry season. Though… maybe a bit of snow would be nice too. Not sure yet.
Society:
There are two tribes in the area, separated by a stream/river. The Sessi tribe led by Bardock and the Vegeta tribe led by Vegeta (the king) respectively. The two tribes occasionally fight. They do not like each other.
The two tribes used to be one, until (King) Vegeta gained followers because he brought fire on a stick home one time. Bardock didn’t believe he actually made it and an argument broke out. It ended in Bardock not trusting Vegeta Sr. anymore. One day, Vegeta Sr. punished a Sessi cub too harsh, resulting in a fight between the Sessi and Vegeta clans. Finally, Bardock declared he and the Sessi was going and setting up their own ‘village’. They crossed the river and started building their own settlement.
Note: Kakarot like to swim back and forth between the two tribes for fun and got himself into countless troubles
- Vegeta’s tribe is larger but less intelligent…
They live in caves mostly. In the morning they just run around doing whatever they want. At night they hangout and sleep together in one big cave
Sessi tribe:
Male: Bardock (32), Sage (11), Kakarot/Goku (13), Raditz(16), Piccolo (15 physically - 4 real age - adopted by Gine), Toma (31) , Panpukin (29), Topato(32), Chives(53), Bruta (59),…
Female: Paprika(44), Gine (31), Rikiko (45), Epa(14)…
Vegeta tribe:
Male: Vegeta (39), Vegeta jr. (17), Tarble (10), Nappa (54), Turles (9), Diive (18), Brolly (16), Paragus (36), Orris (14), Derris (10), Norris (8), Phlox (30), Betrote (31), Orka (3) Birch (17),…
Female: Veberna (39), Garnia (33), Bulma (16 - adopted by Nappa), Anzu (24), Cassian (19), Lemonetta (17), Appla (28), Bejina (14), Nion (28), Seripa (30)..
Outlaw: Daizu (13)
Note: List only consists of major characters. Click name for biography.
Tools
These cave-saiyans use rock, animal bones, sticks and vines as tool. They skin animals to make clothing with sharpened rocks. They fish using sticks with one end sharpened, or a sharp dinosaur bone.
However they have yet to learn how to make fire. The fire they got are usually from lightning strikes or natural forest fires. King Vegeta is really good at detecting (he used his eyes, how amazing) the signs of fire and act like he called upon it.
Since fire is so rare, one person in the tribe is tasked to stay by the fire and keep it burning for as long as they could. There are two fire-place maintained. One is inside the cave and another outside. The one inside is kept in case the one outside goes out due to the rain.
Combined tool was one of Bulma’s ideas. However, Vegeta’s tribe were too stupid and think she was being weird (“Rocks are for throwing, Bulma, don’t put them on a stick!”). They hunt using bare hands or rock throwing, same goes for fishing. Though Bardock came up with the vine + food trap back when the tribes were joined so they do use that. They also know to throw food into the river to attract fishes.
Good thing they recently decided Bulma got the right idea and started using these combined tools more. They made flint tools like mini axes to aid their everyday life.
Diets:
Saiyans here aren’t always hungry like DBZ Saiyans. They are just humans with monkey tails is all. So, they behave like stone age humans.
They eat whatever they can collect. Usually on the Sessi side, the males go hunting/fishing while the female collect fruits and berries. On the Vegeta side, it’s a mix of male and female doing a task.
Note: Turles of Vegeta’s tribe found out if he don’t swallow the seeds and put them on the ground for a while, they grow into trees! Magnificent! And so he like to collect seeds from anything he can find and arrange them in rows. The others often see him sit staring at the seeds. When asked, he replied with “I don’t want to miss the moment they become a tree!”
Language:
They used to make monkey/ape like sounds when they communicate, and use body language. Though later on Bulma started naming things using specific sounds. No one took her seriously and ignored her. Kakarot, who like to hang out with Bulma, thought she was playing and they both started coming up with names for everything they see. Later, Kakarot came back and taught the rest of his tribe (starting with Sage, his 11 years old uncle).
And eventually they all speak this language Bulma “invented”, which is English but broken. Like “Rocks are for throwing, Bulma, don’t put them on a stick!” will actually sound like: “Rock throw, Rock, Stick no no!”
 Jobs
Chief: Leader of a tribe - Bardock and (King) Vegeta

Planter: Watching seeds grow into trees 8D! - Turles
Just there to be a brat: Vegeta
Just there to look hot and pick-up the ladies: Betrote Thief: Daizu
Sports/Entertainment
Radishball: To demand for their “kidnapped” Seripa back, the Vegetas started throwing rocks over to the Sessi side of the river. Bardock wasn’t having any of that and so he picked up a club and started beating the rocks back to Vegeta side. Vegeta Sr. Did the same thing and it turned into the first tennis match in the world, which lasted for 4 days until both Chief fainted out of exhaustion.
Later they named this game Radishball in honor of their first sport, which was banned long ago (see Raditz’s part for elaboration) and used radishes instead of rocks. The point of this game is to hit the radish back and forth without getting hit by the radish or breaking it. Whoever got hit is out of the game and another player is selected. Bulma later invented rackets to reduce the damage to the radish. She demonstrated its effectiveness by winning a radishball match for the Vegeta tribe (which earned them the meat of a dead dinosaur that had washed down the river and got stuck in the middle of the two tribes). From that moment on Bulma’s creations were more appreciated.
Radishball also became a way for the two tribes to solve any disputes. Whenever they wanted to decide which side get to have something, they would play a game of Radishball (until one side run out of challenger) to decide. Keeping Radishball scores also became a way for them to determine who was the strongest in the tribe.
