I need a Logan/Wade/Reader fic where reader is dating Wade (before movie) and meets Logan, sees how he acts with Wade, and makes a ton of “just fuck already” jokes that Wade (ofc) encourages and it pisses Logan off until he does one day (reader included lol) 😏
A/N: i'm going to have to make a part 2 for this, since this is pretty much solely humor and reader making fun of wade and logan. i will be making a part 2 for the smut, though. mark my fucking words.
some things to note: reader is stated as polyamorous and LGBT (no specific label is mentioned). also, lots of sex jokes and fourth wall breaks lmao.
You were used to Wade bringing around some strange characters. Usually, they thought he had drugs or something (which he did, most of the time. Until they all mysteriously went missing right before his birthday party. Almost like his unsavory lifestyle was suddenly sanitized for wider consumption. Hm. Weird.) Sometimes they wanted money - other times it seemed more likely that Wade was holding them for ransom and relapsing into his merc days. But that wasn't really your business.
The point to your opening statement was: you didn't really want to fuck Wade's friends. Astonishing, really - you went to high school with a group of weird kids that all turned out to be some flavor of L,G,B or T and as such, you either wanted to or did fuck most of them. But Wade's friends? They just lacked a little something-something. Al was too old and too high most of the time. Yukio and her gruff girlfriend were far too young for you. Colossus was too Russian. Vanessa was Wade's ex - which would have been hot, honestly - but you weren't the biggest fan of how the two of them handled the post-breakup, and therefore she was off limits. But Peter... maybe...?
No. No, if you fucked Peter, Wade would never let you hear the end of it.
So, you were typically relegated to Wade, and Wade alone, which was more than fine by you. That insane healing factor meant the man could go all night, and he was naturally (or, unnaturally. Mutantly?) ribbed for your pleasure. Nice.
So when he came back from his most recent world-saving (multiverse saving?) adventure, you expected him to bring back maybe some kind of bright-eyed teenage sidekick, or a wacky off-the-wall team up, like Dopinder.
Ah, right, Dopinder. God, you would have fucked him. Sadly, the man was staunchly monogamous like some kind of fucking freak.
Anyway, that's not the point. The point is, when you walked into Wade's unbirthday party? He had company. And the company? Hot. Old. Man.
Oh no. Your fucking weakness.
You'd really never forgive Wade for evaporating Cable before you had a chance with him.
Maybe this was his make-up present.
And said present - or, man, shouldn't objectify - could not take his damn eyes off Wade. Glaring at him, huffing a little half-chuckle when Wade insulted someone with a joke, rolling his eyes as Wade recounted some story of their conquests with exaggerated arm movements and wild, unnecessary additions.
Oh my god. Oh my god? Did Wade fuck him before you could? That bitch!
You scoffed to yourself as you threw your jacket on the coat rack - or was that Peter? Who gives a shit. You were on a mission. You sauntered straight up to Wade, no greeting or preamble, and tossed your arm around his shoulders, setting your ass down right in his lap.
"Oh, hell yeah! There's my sugar ass-" Wade grinned at you, and you just rolled your eyes and planted a big kiss on his bald forehead. Thank god, he'd stopped wearing that dumbass hair. It made him look like a social studies teacher. And not a good one - like one of the ones that just took the job so that he could coach the JV boy's soccer team, and he's not even very good at that. Anyway.
Wade wrapped an arm around you, and you adjusted yourself on his lap, hazarding a glance over at the man sitting next to him. His eyes flit from Wade to you, then to Wade again, brow scrunched a little closer together than when you'd first seen him.
"Wolvie, meet my little discord kitten. And you-" he broke the fourth wall, just to look you straight in the eyes. "This, is the big bad wolf. Er-ine. Yeah. Yeah, that works."
"Wade," you replied, trying not to think about the fact that he just looked into your eyes like you were a camera on the Office. "You never told me you were bringing home a third. I would have brought the nice strap."
The man - Wolvie? Wolverine? Whatever - choked on his beer, and shot Wade a confused, accusatory glare.
"What about the-"
Wolvie gestured in the direction of Vanessa, and Wade's eyes widened, his mouth actually fell open. And this time, it wasn't fake or sarcastic shock, but actual, genuine emotion.
"Oh, no no no - that metal skull of yours really is dense, isn't it, peanut?" He knocked on Wolvie's forehead with way more force than he would use on any normal human, and the man batted Wade's hand away like a pissy tom cat, lip curled over his teeth in a growl.
That was. Hot. Ok.
Wade continued talking anyway - as he always did.
"No, Vanessa? Lovely lady, don't get me wrong - but that ship sailed loooong ago, my temporally-challenged friend," Wade sighed, squeezing the arm that was around your shoulder. "No - that relationship was, as the kids say - 'lacking in communication and emotional openness' - oh, and she made me feel like chicken shit for not being a superhero!"
"Babe, you did that to yourself," you shook your head at him. Really - Vanessa and Wade had just grown apart. She'd looked into more gainful employment, and Wade had followed, struggling to integrate into whatever the fuck "proper" society was. What really happened was that Wade blamed himself for her death and tied way too much of his self-worth to their relationship. And Vanessa - well, she just didn't feel safe with him anymore. It wasn't her fault; it was the PTSD. But it still hurt him. It was better for the both of them to part ways. You always knew Wade still held a torch for her, but you didn't mind much in a relationship sense. You were polyamorous - your man loving multiple people didn't bother you. What did matter was the fact that for Wade's mental health - or what little of it remained - he shouldn't be trying to get with that woman again.
"Yeah! I know! I was getting to that - shh," he pressed a finger to your lips and you kissed it, which made him go "aww" before returning to his rambling. "Anyway, while I was on this beautiful journey of self-discovery, I realized so many things, buttercup."
He sighed, cupping your cheek. "The Avengers are absolute booty ass - without their mainstay former drug addict, I'm afraid they lost out on the crowd of little white girls that want to fuck older men, and we all know that demographic is vital to the longevity of a franchise. Furthermore, the Honda Odyssey fucks hard, which means I have to re-examine my vehicle-related inherent biases. Oh, and also - I'm not a hero. Can't pretend to be some kind of 'normie.' So I'd rather be a freak with the rest of the rejects."
Wade gestured to the rest of the party, and your grin widened, arms wrapping tight around his neck and pulling him in for a stupid, sloppy kiss. God, that's what you'd been trying to tell him for goddamn ages. Thank fuck, the whole multiverse just had to be threatened for him to realize it. You should have expected it - that's just kind of how men are.
Wolverine cleared his throat, and you pulled away, patting Wade on the chest. The older man looked at the both of you with trepidation, like he might be interrupting something. Your heart skipped a little - he really did like Wade, didn't he? Well -
"That's great, baby," you patted Wade's cheek. "Glad you had to experience whatever is closest to death for you to realize what's really important. That's so incredibly healthy and absolutely viable in the long-term."
Wolvie chuckled, grinning at both you and your boyfriend. Oh no - not only was he hot, he was pretty. That stupid little cat ear hair wasn't helping, especially not when he was laughing at your joke.
You took the opportunity to raise your leg just enough to brush your calf along the inside of his knee, and his eyes immediately flicked to yours, smile faltering as he calculated whether to lean into it or shy away.
"Thank you, I so appreciate you, baby-boo-" Wade nuzzles his nose against your cheek and you giggled, biting your lip to quell your laugh as you tried to watch both boys. "But if I remember correctly, before we went on this plot-hole addressing rant, you said something about the good strap?"
He waggled his hairless brows, and your gaze flicked between the two of them again - Wade, eager and grinning; Wolvie, tense and most certainly blushing.
"Yeah," you sighed dramatically, waving your hand in the direction of the refreshments table. "Unfortunately, the food at this party isn't bottom friendly. Shame."
"Fuck!" Wade cursed, head snapping forward in frustration. "I knew Peter forgot something! That insensitive metrosexual!"
You snorted, shook your head as your gaze pulled to Wolverine, you dragged your leg just a little higher.
"Oh, don't worry about it. If your friend here wants, we could recreate your favorite Lonely Island music video."
Said friend's brow knit, his jaw clenched as he tilted his head ever so slightly to the side, as if you'd translate your Wade-speak for him.
Thankfully, your boyfriend did it for you, with an exaggerated gasp for comedic effect.
"3-Way (The Golden Rule) (Featuring Lady Gaga & Justin Timberlake)?" He cried, leaning over so that he could smush his face closer to yours. You waggled your eyebrows suggestively.
He all but squealed, kicking his feet to the point where he almost launched you straight out of his lap.
"You hear that, Logan-boy? It won't even be gay - with a honey in the middle there's some leeway," he gestured to you dramatically, jazz-hands and all.
"It might be a little gay," you whispered in Wolvie - Logan's? - direction.
Either way, it seemed like something one of you said made the poor man short-circuit. He was just looking at the two of you like Wade was regrowing a baby head.
"It is, like, a genuine offer," you clarified for him. "We're not fucking with you - well. Wade's always fucking around."
"Oh, but I am so serious about this, babygirl. Wanna find out if that 207th bone is also adamantine, let me tell you-"
"Shut your whore mouth," Logan hissed at Wade, and you heard the man's teeth click as Wade's jaw snapped shut. What?
"Hey, did he just listen to you when you told him to shut up?"
Logan raised an eyebrow, but gave you a curt nod as answer. Your head whipped from one man to the other.
"You two definitely fucked already!"
"Oh-"
"What did he tell you?" You cut in, finger raised as Wade tried to speak. His eyes widened, and his lips closed like he had no control over them. Your jaw fell open. You turned to Logan like he was some kind of evil sex magician. Which - maybe he was. Or maybe that was a different man from the same movie that no one knows how to write because someone actually gave him an accurate accent. How would you know?
"We didn't fuck," Logan clarified. "We fought. Hard."
"It was the only way around the Hays Code censor!" Wade cut in, words spilling out like he only had a few seconds before Logan shot him another look that had his mouth shutting and his pants tightening.
You rolled your eyes. "Sweetie, the Hays Code was abolished in 1968," you patted his cheek like you were talking to a child.
"Tell that to the mouse!"
"Well," you did your best to get this trainwreck back on track. "Anyway. What do you think, hmm?"
You directed your question at Logan-Wolvie-Wolverine. It was so hard to learn somebody's actual name when Wade just threw nicknames out like candy.
But still, the man frowned, lips pursed as he considered the proposition. His lips twitches as he swirled the bottle of beer in his hand, like he could find the answers in the foam that swelled there. He shook his head, then took a sip, smacking an "ah" before the bottle hit the table with a thump.
"Eh. What the hell."
Oh. Fuck. Yes.

my gif | read on AO3
Aaron Hotchner x Emily Prentiss
summary: following a surprisingly emotional case for the usually well-tempered boss, hotch seeks out comfort in his favorite dark-haired agent, which obviously leads to a confession or two.
wc: 2335
warnings: none (?)
a/n: alternate ending to 7x10 the bittersweet science (the bloodlusting boxer). first fic i have written in two years pls be nice feedback is so appreciated xox enjoy!!
Any case involving kids is tough on the team, especially those who have one of their own. Factor in a young boy dying, however, and that’s enough to make move the usually stoic Aaron Hotchner to tears.
Which is exactly what was happening in that hospital room, Hotch having brought unsub Jimmy Hall to spend his last moments with his son. Standing far back enough to give the family some privacy, but still keeping an eye on the suspect of course, Hotch did his best to ignore the heartbreaking scene in front of him.
“You fought a hell of a fight, Ryan,” Hall spoke through sobs, his ex-wife a mess on the opposite side of the bed. Hotch felt it then, a salty droplet staining his face, and another one trickling to the floor. His expression never changed, however, doing as much as he could to maintain his professional look.
Emily and Rossi had met Hotch and Spencer at the hospital after learning of the outcome of Hall’s match, citing their presence as a second duo to help escort the unsub back to the precinct. In reality, Emily’s brain had gone on autopilot, creating such an excuse to mask her real reason for coming. She knew what Hotch would be feeling in those moments in that room, and she couldn’t bear for him to deal with it alone, if he even did at all.
Rossi didn’t mind this, of course. He always sensed the romantic tension between the two since his first day back in the unit, him and the other 5 team members having a bet going on how long it would take for the spark to finally be ignited. So, when he and Emily reached Spencer in the hallway outside of the Hall room, the three agents lined up against the wall.
Spencer made a bit of small talk about the case that had now begun the closing process, but in all honesty, Emily didn’t hear a word that was said. Her eyes were fixated on the man opposite the small pane of glass, his emotionless expression unwavering.
The three of them heard the unwelcome tone of the monitor flatlining, looking amongst each other solemnly. Minutes later, the door was opening as Hotch wheeled the unsub out of the room. Wordlessly, Rossi took the chair from the other man and begun leading him towards his own room, while Spencer brought his ex-wife in the opposite direction to console here. Aaron replaced Spencer’s position next to Emily on the wall, his eyes fixating on a painting across from the two of them.
“Rossi said he would take care of all the paperwork at the precinct and close up,” Emily spoke, turning to look at the man next to her. If she looked close enough, she could see the faint tear stain on his left cheek. “Let’s go back to the hotel, I’ll drive.”
Aaron nodded, wordlessly beginning to walk with Emily towards where she had left the car just hours before. Their hands found each other as soon as the hospital door closed, making both of their heart rates jump ever so slightly, though both would just chalk it up to the events of the night.
Aaron, ever the gentleman, opened the driver’s side door for Emily before slipping into the seat beside her. He wasn’t surprised by the blush creeping up her cheeks, he noticed it the first time he made the same gesture all those years ago. She turned on the car and begun the short drive back to their hotel. Classical music quietly played through the car radio, and Emily often turned to look at Hotch. She would see him staring out the window each time, but that’s because she was focused on the road each time he would steal a glance.
Soon enough, the pair arrived at the hotel, making their way to the elevator. The ride to the 12th floor was short, but felt like eternity for the two of them. Both lost in their own thoughts about love and life and death, neither noticed how close the other was until their arms brushed against each other. Aaron turned to Emily and looked down at her, a ghost of a smile on his face. A sad smile, but one nonetheless. She looked up, and he could sense the concern in her eyes.
“Thank you for the ride back, Prentiss,” he said softly, his brain itching to brush the fallen piece of hair behind her ear.
“You don’t have to thank me, Hotch,” Emily laughed quietly. “That’s what teammates are for.” She immediately had to hold back a wince at her word choice, knowing damn well she just friendzoned her boss. Then again, she didn’t feel as if this was the time or place to confess to feelings she’d been harboring for nearly five years. “Will you be alright tonight?” She asked to change the subject, out of concern for both her dignity and her boss’ mental state.
“I always am, Prentiss,” Hotch spoke as the elevator came to a stop. The two walked down the same hallway, Emily stopping at her door first. “Goodnight, Emily. Get some rest,” Aaron said softly, his hand brushing against Emily’s back in a way that toed the line of professionalism.
Emily did her best to not freeze at the touch of her boss in what some would consider to be quite a sensual spot. “Thank you, you too,” she managed to get out in a relatively normal tone. “Goodnight, Aaron.” Hotch gave Emily a nod before retreating to his own room, just a few doors down.
The first thing Emily did when entering her room for the night was turn the shower on and dig through her go-bag for the most comfortable clothing she could find. Hopping into the shower, she let the near-boiling water run over her skin as if she was trying to cook away the details of this case. After standing in the shower for what very well could’ve been over an hour, she stepped out and put on her clothes. She was just about to get into bed when there was a knock at her door. Assuming it would be JJ, she didn’t bother throwing on a hoodie before opening the door.
That felt like a mistake to her when she found Aaron opposite the door frame. It felt even worse when she became painfully aware that his eyes were briefly on her low cut, extremely cropped red tank top, which left hardly anything to imagination. And then she watched his eyes make their way to her low-rise sweatpants. Truly she could never feel more embarrassed than in that moment.
“Is everything alright?” Emily asked as she brought her arms up to her chest, itching to draw attention away from her. “Do we have another case?”
“No, no new case,” Hotch spoke quietly, meeting Emily’s gaze. “Do you mind if I just come in for a bit?” He looked away, almost embarrassed to be seeking out company from his subordinate at such an hour. Emily didn’t see it that way, of course, mainly because she could feel the emotions radiating off of Aaron.
“Of course you can,” she smiled and moved out of the way to let the older man in. Shutting the door, they both moved to sit on the edge of the king-sized bed. The pair sat in silence, but it was comfortable - neither felt any pressure to speak like they would if they were in the presence of anyone else. After a while, however, Emily wanted to say something, she just didn’t know what. She turned to look at the man next to her, who she found staring at the wall as tears slowly fell. “Oh, Aaron,” she sighed, putting her hand to his face and turning him to look at her. Her heart damn near broke at seeing him in such pain, the feeling reminiscent of when she had been there for him after he had lost Haley. She pulled him into a hug instinctively, his head seeking solace on her chest as she rubbed soothing circles into his skin. Neither were aware of the eroticism behind the position in that moment, both focused on the hurt and comforting in the present.
“I have no idea why this is affecting me so deeply,” Aaron laughed. “It’s not funny,” he added after seeing the woman’s puzzled look at his chuckle. “I usually have no true emotional reaction when cases involve kids, or the kids of unsubs, but this time I did and I can’t figure out why.”
His hands felt around until it found hers once again, the two of them grasping at each other like it was a lifeline.
“I think it’s because you saw that boy dying and it triggered you to think about what could’ve happened that day,” Emily said, looking at Aaron as he wiped a tear from his face. She didn’t have to specify what day or who could’ve died, they both knew what she meant.
“Doesn’t help that Dave’s been up my ass about dating too,” Aaron added, grabbing Emily’s attention even more. She couldn’t possibly figure out how that had to do with the idea of Jack dying. “He’s been pushing me to date since it’s been almost two years since Haley died, and I think you’re right, the details of this case must have triggered something in me.”
”Grief hits us in the least expecting places,” Emily commented.
“That it does,” Aaron agreed, turning his gaze back to the way. Emily did the same, and the two were silent again for a while.
“Rossi’s right though,” Emily said after a while, eyes staring at the same spot on the wall as the man next to her. “You probably should start dating again.”
“I’ve already had my eye on someone for a while,” Aaron said softly. This time it was him turning to look at the younger woman, using his hand to bring her head towards him before she even had a chance to react to his words. “And I know she’s been doing the same.”
“Really?” Emily asked, feigning innocence. “How do you know she’s into you?”
”There’s a reason they made me the leader of this team,” Aaron said, the insinuation that Emily doubted his ever so present profiling skills making her blush. “But in all honesty, she’s always there when I need her most, even if I don’t realize it myself at the time.” Emily smiled softly at that moment, her cheeks nearly burning as she used her free hand to fiddle with the waistband of her pants. “Plus, she loves to wear a certain red tank top on days when I have a perfect view,” Aaron added, making Emily laugh. His face moved closer to hers, as if asking for permission. Emily nodded and not a moment later, his lips were on hers, encapsulating them in a soft yet passionate kiss.
They broke apart after a while, when it got to the point when air became necessary. “Thank you,” Aaron smiled at her, wrapping his arms around Emily.
“For kissing you?” Emily joked softly. “I’m kidding, I know what you meant,” she added, pulling him into a hug. “I will always be there for you, no matter what.” Her hands ran through his hair, his making their way to the small of her back. “Would you like to stay the night?” She asked. Realizing how suggestive that sounded, especially after the past few minutes, she added quickly, “That way you don’t have to be alone tonight.”
“I’d like that, thank you, Em,” Aaron smiled. The two broke away, climbing under the covers. Their bodies drew to each other like magnets do to metals, reaching for each other until it was impossible to move any further.
“Is that really what gave it away?” Emily asked, moving her head into his chest as the two settled down for the night. “The red tank top?”
”Sort of, but it’s not what really confirmed my thoughts.”
“Well, what was it then?” Emily asked, wanting to know her tell.
”You called me Aaron today,” he said, planting a kiss to her temple. “Twice actually. You hadn’t done that since you found me in the hospital after Foyet got to me, and then again after Haley. And it slips out sometimes when we’re in private.”
”Oh,” Emily said sheepishly, a smile creeping up her face. “I guess I didn’t really try too hard to keep it professional.”
”Oh I didn’t mind one bit,” Aaron laughed, putting his arm around his girl, feeling her breathing even out as they both drifted to sleep.
***
”So, have you taken my advice?” Rossi asked, sitting across from Hotch on the jet. With the case closed and nothing but paperwork to look forward to at the office, the team resorted to their favorite pastime of gossiping. Today’s topic of conversation seemed to have focused itself on the boss man’s dating life, as it so happened to be recently.
“You’ll be happy to know I have a date on Friday,” Aaron said simply, his attention not leaving his paperwork. Emily’s attention was piqued, however, her eyes raising up from her book.
“Atta boy Hotch!” Morgan said excitedly, clapping Aaron’s back from the next seat over. “Who’s the lucky lady?”
“You hardly know her,” Aaron commented, eliciting a scoff from a certain blonde across the table.
“I saw what room you went into last night,” JJ said, causing eyes to fall on the only other woman on the jet.
“That was for work business only!” Emily exclaimed. It technically wasn’t a lie, he had come in to discuss the feelings regarding the case.
“Em, I saw him leave your room late this morning when I came back from the gym,” JJ said, eliciting a blush from the raven haired woman as she nudged her.
“Aw man!” Morgan yelled, drawing the attention to himself. “Penelope owes me 50 bucks!”

Flash, let it be known, doesn’t like Peter. He’s too good at everything—infuriatingly so—and nobody ever calls him on his bullshit, like with AcaDec nationals. Flash has to put his all into everything he does for a fraction of the attention Peter gets for his bare minimum, and it pisses him off, to say the least, so sue him for looking for chances here and there to knock him down a peg.
However, when he notices, he shuts his entire operation down.
Maybe Peter has a decade on his age when he was in the thick of it, but Flash remembers what it was like. He gets having school be a safe place, and nobody, not even himself, is going to jeopardize that for Peter.

You’re the one who left it in the back of the car yesterday.” Tony turned the paper towards Happy, tapping a finger against the scribbles in the margin. “I didn’t write that. I thought it, but I didn’t write it. What sorcery is this?” “Oh shit, sorry,” Happy said, expression resigned. “I’m guessing the kid went through them when I drove him to school this morning. Because of his emotional ability--> making them believable. [Fool the emotions all else will follow.] Her visions are quite sporadic at times. ---> crafting the mental space devoted to that.
Environmental Factors---> Bella & her daughter can project, and I think environmental factors will give the gift a push to be able to be casted. INSTEAD of actually just ending up with hyperaphantasia.
Alice & Bella are besties, so they'll spend a considerable amount of time together interacting. So, I think the block Renesme has on the visions will be a giant factor too.
Despite Bella and Alice just not being close it will happen anyway. Cause there's nowhere realistically for her to go.
She's stuck and Alice probably isn't going to get a vision going oh, now is the right time to leave.
Even if you could argue oh, they'll never fight. Most likely right unless we wanna go even more Au... {Which I am 100% ok with}
But I think Alice's slight harboring of resentment for Renesme for blocking her visions will be the key in the lock for this to all work out right.
She isn't going to stop blocking them. Alice already has had time to get over her gift dependency so much but like she won't do that.
Jasper's gift can't be blocked by a shield, but I imagine he's a little immune to Renesme's gift. (Realistically not...? But it's a silly little Tumblr post I don't want to think about the power scale too hard and implode.)
I was hoping you could pick up where I left off about how things realistically work in Twilight.
Besides the whole vampires have a kid despite one being infertile.
But I think this would be a hell-on-wheels problem. Cause while Jasper I'd argue! Has a more moral conscious (at least in the ways we see it.) than Alice. But they're both pretty grey.
Which means they're both pretty ruthless. Like Bella and Edward are for their child.
All i know is this offspring would have to be so lucky to not be snatched by the Volturi.
I think this kid would fare better than Renesme in the short and long term. Even if they were both hybrids. This kid would have parents that would in my opinion actually teach it more.
I think Bella and Edward don't teach Renesme. much.
I think Jasper would make sure his kid had the skills should they be needed to be used. And Alice would support this or just let it happen. I think he's a more active parent than her but that's 100% different bullshit Au type of discussion and I just needed to drop this meta off to blogs for their thoughts.
I am driving myself crazy. I would like to sleep.
I think that if Jalice hypothetically had a gift, it could be be related to feel the emotions of the people had in the past/will have in the future. Considerating the fact that Renesmee has a gift pretty complicated as an hybrid, it could be possible that every gifted hybrid has a gift more complicated than a normal vampire. The kid (Jalice's) would also, probably, block their mother's power but would slowly unblock it for their mother overtime. Because somehow, they are linked considerating the fact that in SM's Twilight world, the links are pretty strong bond, related to family or.
I can say that for most part I agree with you. Seeing how Alice and Bella were during Breaking-Dawn Part 1, it was already pretty hard for them both to get along and agree due to the fact that Alice couldn't see Renesmee's nor Bella's future. As you said, it could be the key for a potential fight to happen between the two.
As for Jalice having a kid. I would agree that the kid would probably be taught more, their father was an ex-soldier and their mother would probably want them to be able to defend themselves in the future as she would not be able to see anything due to being an hybrid. However, I think that this kid would also had easier way to understand what/who they are since Renesmee would be born before them and the whole family would be ready. Therefore, everyone would already know how to deal with an hybrid kid in the house with the supernatural grow, being able to eat human food ect.
I don't know if like I correctly answer but I tried my best to fill your hunger ^^' (you got me thinking for twenty minutes there)

'❓' + Two questions: How did you come up with Black Swan AU? And what are your pet peeves when it comes to rp? (nuravity)
☠ ― Send '❓' + a question to ask the MUN.
@nuravity
[[ A mun after my soul, legit, I love talking about this verse sm ;; THANK YOU !!
I'll answer the pet peeve rq. Unless the other person's muse is a legit mind reader, no, your muse can not read mine's thoughts. It drives me nuts when another mun's muse physically reacts to something my muse thought about. Ex. My muse is thinking about getting a glass of water or something to drink then other mun's muse gets up and pours them a drink.
Ok, it is a nice gesture that your muses did that but no... mine was thinking. I know that probably sounds like something not worth getting annoyed over but it does.
Back to the 1st question !
So short story: I wanted to challenge myself.
Long Story:
Before I made this blog, I was speaking with my wife, @shiningxfates about her Bakugou and she mentioned something along the lines of "I have roleplayed with villain Dekus before." and I remembered thinking "Oh goodness! Villain Deku?? How would that sweet baby bean be a villain??" It just sounded so foreign and jarring to me, this kid with the lifelong dream to be a hero... be written as a villain.
I can't recall when or how this next discussion happened but she said something like "It's popular for Deku to turn into a villain from 1 of 2 ways. From Katsuki's bullying or during Deku's vigilante arc." Note, I have a horrible memory so I can't recall the exact words or even when this was said but that was the jist of it.
And it got me thinking.
If those two were the most common ways, I wanted to make my own villain verse but not with those origins. I added a quirkless factor to make it more challenging. Y'all. That was difficult as hell. I do recall wracking my brain for days, trying to think what would motive Izuku into being a villain outside of the bullying and since he would be quirkless, how would he turn so soon since he received All Might's consideration in episode 2.
One thing stood out to me. Izuku had said in episode 1 "Mom, that's not what I needed you to say." Izuku ... what do you mean by needed ? Why did you need to hear her say 'You can be a hero' ? Which then lead to the fact that All Might first said to him "Some Villains can't be defeated without a quirk." and then the pro heroes berated him for stepping in and trying to save Katsuki.
There was the motivation. Remember the saying "All things come in threes" ? Three times. We hear his dream crushed 3 times. It's ok if Black Swan Origin hasn't been read yet but there is something I want to point out which I don't know if anyone noticed. In the Origin, Izuku asks Why to his mom, All Might and to the Pros.
He never directed this to Katsuki.
Towards the end, Izuku says "Lies. Lies. Lies." To what his mother, All Might and the Pros said to him. To what Katsuki said, he didn't utter "Lies." Izuku doesn't blame him at all for taking this path. His motivation, after hearing he could not be a hero, was to prove them wrong by defeating heroes.
I wracked my brain again because Izuku is very intelligent and I wanted to convey that. I remember Hawks infiltrating LOV as a Spy and I thought "If there is a spy in the Swan's ranks, how can he stay discreet when it comes to discussing which Pro hero he is taking down?" I gave him a gambling habit, to gain money, but it also worked for him to give the heroes code names via suit cards.
And making his public face that of a woman came from the saying "False information is worse than no information." I try to keep him many steps ahead. Hell, all of the heroes who go missing... they're not dead. They're basically used as leverage in case he ever gets captured.
As for the name well, in finances, the term Black Swan means "a rare, unpredictable, and random event that poses significant downside risk"
Black Swan also means "an event that comes as a surprise, has a major effect and severe consequences"
Izuku also has a very slender body, like a swan but there's a more obvious reason why he picked it. Esp if you saw the first episode of MHA. Some time after I made my Black Swan verse, I asked my waifu what kind of traits does Quirkless Villain Izuku have and she said "He is usually a hacker." Which I can see but I prefer the one I made, a chess master ! ]]
#nuravity#Resolved Action ◾ Answered Asks#Nonnies#Thank you sm !!!! I LOVE TALKING ABOUT THIS VERSE#Izuku: Mom I need you to tell me I can be a hero or I'm going to be a villain#Long Post Tw

Some thoughts on marriage
Growing up I never really understood the idea of marriage. My mom had me at 16 or somewhere near that, & was only married briefly as a result of being pregnant with me & having a less than ideal home life, which she wanted to get out of. My dad has been married or engaged 5 or more times, though now he’s old enough not to lure in underaged girls or young women & is now happily married to a woman who I really like. My great grandparents, who I grew up with, were married over 50 years, & though they bickered I understood that they had committed to each other & my great grandpa took care of my great grandmother through her senility, hiding it until it was noticeable to all.
So, I have mixed views on the topic. On one hand, it seems insane to me to enter into a legal contract for a relationship especially considering I’m not religious in the traditional sense. On the other, I find it incredibly romantic & a statement of devotion.
I my early 20’s the only person I remember breaking up with me (who really just beat me to it, bc I was unhappy & didn’t want to be with him really) told me that the reason he didn’t want to be with me is that he “couldn’t imagine marrying” me, which to me felt stupid & I was fine with at the time (& still am, he was a mess). When I met someone I was infatuated with, he talked about how he was “going to marry that girl” in reference to the last girl he dated, during the first 6 months we were together, which really bothered me. They were together for a year or less as far as I can gather. He later admitted it was because her family had a lot of connections in the film industry, which made me feel a little disgusted by his intentions of marriage if I’m being honest.
Personally, I’ve driven hard lines in the ground with people I’ve dated. Either I’m with you or not, & with you means I’m in 100%. I’m not going to leave unless there’s some seriously extenuating circumstances, such as, my last partner had a serious alcohol problem & got really scary & mean before I decided it was safer for me to leave than stay with them.
Nowadays, I’m with someone I adore & I feel adores me back. We have been together 5 years in a few weeks, which will mark the longest relationship I’ve ever been in. Simultaneously, our family is mentioning marriage (& have been for years).
& im at this crossroads. I think both of us have some doubt about the whole concept of marriage, our families respectively having a long history of divorce & the mess that entails. But also, is that something I actually want? I’m not sure.
By now I did imagine myself with kids of my own, though I love my freedom & ability to do what I want. Marriage feels like the end of that freedom to a certain extent, but also feels like the agreement on a future, & security. We haven’t talked about it, truly. Sometimes I think my partner is working towards a more secure future for us before that, & every time he talks about the future he says US, which is also reassuring.
If he asked I would say yes, but as time rolls on & my experiences & friends get hitched after only a year or two, I do wonder if I’m just not the kind of person someone would want to marry, as that long buried ex said. Or, are people just stupid & rushing into things? Are people just agreeing to things based on their circumstances & ideology? The people I know who have gotten married, largely, also became very institutionally religious. Which, good for them, but that’s not where I am.
I suppose I’m curious what readers think of marriage. What are the criteria? What is the deciding factor? Do you just know?
I’ve also known people happily not married with children in 10+ year relationships. I suppose theres no universal right answer to any of this. Just something I’m pondering after some deeply itchy nightmares.

Boy, it's been ages since I've done one of these... I'll start this by yelling at you for ever doubting or second-guessing yourself of not being capable of writing a good Luna. Fuck off, that was delightful. Now, since this is in fact an ask, if you had narrow it down 3 aspects that makes you write dialogue and particularly children's dialogue, what would they be? I know you obviously have a lot of experience, but that doesn't always translate well to paper... Love ya 😍 #nextchapterwhen
Hey random reader! This answer has been a long time coming, but I'm going through some old asks and figured I'd give this one a try.
So three things that I find Important in writing dialogue? Let's see...
1. Unique character voice. The goal should always be for the reader to be able to distinguish who is talking even without a dialogue tag. Just a few examples from my writing:
Harry usually talks more dryly, struggles to put things into words and can be unintentionally blunt because of it. He's got some 'ers' and 'erms'. He's not very verbose unless he's more emotional.
Abby talks a lot. She starts sentences and goes in a different directions. She's probably got the most dashes and ellipses in her dialogue. When she's nervous or excited, she talks more. When she's upset, she doesn't talk much at all.
Ron's dialogue is one of the most fun to write for me. He's usually poking fun at people, lightening the mood, being the voice of reason. A lot of his dialogue is sarcastic, filled with slang and swears. He's not a talker either. He'll have the one-liners that serve as comic relief most of the time. But when he's serious, he's gonna toss a few words at you that instantly shut you up and make you realize you're being an idiot.
Hermione is also fun to write. She's obviously going to have the biggest vocabulary, never swear, not have too many dashes and ellipses because she's usually very eloquent. Sometimes her anxiety will kick in though, and she may stutter and overcompensate by talking more.
As for the kids, writing children's dialogue is definitely tricky. They all need their own voices too. They can't be too cutesy or too mature. I find what helps is writing normal dialogue, but then changing grammar structure and word usage to reflect their age. They're probably all going to have a lot of run on sentences and dashes to reflect how their thoughts shift more quickly. Lily will have a few speaking errors (not overdone) like saying certain big words wrong (ex. 'vestigates instead of investigates) or having grammatical errors ("funner" instead of more fun), etc. Lily is also very repetitive sometimes to indicate when she's being whiny. Al doesn't talk much except when he's with an adult one on one, or he's fighting with his siblings. James takes over most conversations, even with his cousins and tends to be bossy and self-assured. You won't see him with as many rambling/ellipses-filled dialogues.
And now that I've rambled, the next two important factors:
2. Sentence structure variety. This applies to all writing, but dialogue should especially not be a whole page of:
"blah blah blah," he said.
"blah blah blah," she said.
You need to mix it up to get a nice rhythm of reading and to make the conversation feel organic.
A. "B," he said.
"B", she said. "B."
A.
"B".
(if that makes any sense)
Adding movement in the dialogue tags is Important as well to remind readers that these are living breathing people that aren't just spouting words at each other.
This kind of leads into the last thing (for now, there's many other things I'm sure).
3. Creating a rhythm. Idk how to properly title it or describe this. But the time it takes to read the words on the page should be relatively equal to the rhythm in which you want the characters to speak. So if you want a pause, use words outside the dialogue to create the pause. For ex:
"The sky is blue," Harry said.
"You're right."
Vs.
"The sky is blue," Harry said.
Abby looked up, squinting at sun before looking back at Harry. "You're right."
In the second example, you're forced to create a pause in the dialogue which more naturally replicates the rhythm of speaking. I find it helps to read things out loud to hear the rhythm. But just like with point #2, you want a good variety in rhythm. Cause if it's too uniform it won't sound natural.
Okay I hope that answers your question. I could go on about this stuff cause I love dialogue so much. Prose can gtfo though

tng update time!! i'm behind, oops, four episodes this time. saturday we did "the vengeance factor" and "the defector" and last night we did "the hunted" and "the high ground"
SIDE BAR one of those first two eps has flashing lights and i forgot which one. if you know PLEEEASE tell me so i can put it on my warnings section in my spreadsheet :(
the vengeance factor: surprisingly good! i keep being surprised when tng is good fr but we are in it now ig
i like how chill riker and deanna are when one of them has a passing interest in someone else. they're not totally exes because she'll still hold his hand and call him beloved when he's dying, but neither are they together, especially in a monogamous way. i'm telling you they're polyam fr put worf in that sandwich!!!
once again i thought i knew where something was going and once again i was wrong. i was so sure riker would tell this blonde assassin chick that he was so tall and so gentle and didn't she want to come to the side of peace for him? but she was like actually no <3 and made him kill her fr. he was so fucked up about it. second clode encounter of the space babes for riker where he has potentially accumulated trauma points. we will see if this trend develops further or if he remains down to clown
the defector: i kind of loved this one. unfortunately i think those giant square shoulders on the romulan uniforms fuck.
the shakespeare at the start of this one was wack but i'm happy i identified patrick stewart as one of the extras. by his voice, naturally
tng seems to be in the era of actually letting bad anf cuked up things happen. i felt so awful for this romulan dude by the end and THEN to find out it was a trick made it even worse.
and what REALLY fucks me up about this one, aside from the obvious, is that obviously the letter is never going to get delivered to romulus. we all know that, right? according to star trek (2009) which takes place in 2258, spock prime tells us that in 2387 ("129 years from now...") romulus bites it. tng s3 takes place in 2366. in 21 short years romulus is toast and there's no way things get peaceful enough before then that they get to deliver this letter. this dude was like i did it all so my daughter would grow up AND SHE'S NOT GROWING UP, HOMIE. she's getting VAPORIZED with nero's wife!!!
the hunted: there was a brainwashed supersoldier with ptsd in this episode and i don't want to talk about it
no i'm just kidding we can talk about it. soldier aside, it was a good political episode re: america's general lack of concern for veterans once they come home. hilariously awful that nothing has changed since 1990 or whenever this aired.
one of my favorite parts of this episode was near the beginning when picard was SHOCKED, almost comically so, that this soldier guy had eluded THEEE enterprise. catherine said it was because the enterprise is a bucket of bolts (and i heap curses upon her for this disrespect) but i said it was because they kleft it to worf, wesley, and data. and as much as i deeply adore all 3 characters there was not one adult in that situation. love and light.
the fight scenes in this were VERY exciting. i loved watching them all run around trying to outsmart each other. a fun adventure a fine set of ethics and a little brainwashed guy. 10/10
the high ground: i'll be honest, after one heavy political episode and the previous two before that having been "if two guys were on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock would that be fucked up or what" kind of episodes i was NOT in the mood for another Political Statement, especially when they um. fell just a LEETLE bit short of the mark. i wanted something light to space out the heaviness a little
HOWEVER...beverly crusher.
my GIRRRLLLL i did NOT know she had it in her!!!!!!
she popped the fuck off in this episode!!! she was GREAT! did you guys know gates mcfadden could ACT? i genuinely did not know! but she can and she did! choking back tears when wesley was threatened! cold fury at her captors! you could genuinely believe mister terrorist could fall in love with a woman like that
so much of the time beverly has been A Woman or A Mother that she lacked any other sort of personality. and when she did have a personality it seemed that the people writing her were always trying to make her enough like bones that we like her but not so much like him that she feels like a bad knock-off (like pulaski) and then they never hit the mark
but THIS EPISODE...she did it. i really wasn't thinking about bones at all, except for the beginning when she refused to leave the wounded even in the interest of her own safety. she was incredible. i was shocked. where has this woman been for the past two and a half seasons?!
that said, the uh. statement in this episode seemed a little vague. "terrorism bad"? sure yeah but what else? are we saying "don't sympathize with terrorist because they're assholes" or are we saying "people only resort to terrorism when other avenues have been closed off to them"? why is the terrorist so handsome? why is riker cooperating with the cops? i like that they were like "you can't just come in here and deliver medical supplies to ONE SIDE and claim to be neutral" bc so true re: real life world superpowers but like then what? at the end when the kid out down his gun but that fucking cop lady killed the handsome terrorist should riker not have gone "you see those people as savages but today you were the only one killing people"?
like this episode seemed to have a lot of questions and ideas to put forth and then answered/resolved absolutely zero of them. i'd give it a pass if not for beverly. again, she was fucking incredible
anyway, tonight we do "deja q" (DREAD.........) and "a matter of perspective."
#personal#star trek blogging#tng lb#i'm finally a beverly enjoyer..........#this means there's no one left on the main cast that i dislike. HUGE feat#i never thought i'd get here#might be time to do another character ranking soon

ARC Review of The Husband List by Ella Quinn
Summary:
Lady Madeline Vivers is looking for a conventional match, and Harry Sterns doesn't quite fit the bill. He's not a peer, and he's also a politician. Harry, on the other hand, falls for Madeline at once, and he has a season to convince her to set aside concerns about his career and her mother's objections to marry him.
My review:
This is a ballroom romance set during the social season. The characters take part in ton activities like rides and dances and drawing room calls, and lot of the nitty gritty when it comes to courtship is shown— dance strategizing, parental and sibling approval, how social status factors in, etc.. That being said (and bear in mind this is coming from an amateur history buff), this story is not set in a vacuum, and I appreciate that Ella Quinn took the time to do some research, particularly because the hero is political, and the heroine comes from a political family. Women's property rights are discussed. The Corn Laws are mentioned. Harry is explicitly a Radical MP.
I feel like the notion of political hostesses and upper-class women's contributions to politics is an aspect of the Regency Era that isn't explored enough. I think if more authors caught on, they could have a lot of fun with it, particularly with newer HR stories having more explicit feminist themes. That being said, was this a book where the heroine had fun with politics, per say? No, but I did appreciate that she found a worthy cause to champion (helping homeless people, especially children), and that the hero was supportive of her efforts, taking it as a sign of her being politically-minded.
The plot itself is centered around the courtship between Madeline and Harry. Madeline has a list of traits (that's vaguely referenced throughout the book) she desires in a husband. Basically, the two obstacles for her is that a) Madeline doesn't know if she wants to be the wife of an MP, and b) despite having a strong support system by way of the majority of her extended family, she still wants to please her mother by marrying a peer, which Harry is not. There's also the sideplot of Madeline helping kids off the streets. Otherwise, the book is split between a lot of low-stakes family drama (ex: her sister and her suitor that she seems to have beef with) and Madeline and Harry going on a lot of rides, trips to Gunters, and balls.
As a sidenote, it might be worth reading the books prior to this one in the series, and even the series this one is a spin-off of, because a lot of the characters consistently interact with Madeline.
The sex:
There's a lot of "oh if only she knew what KIND of exercise I wanted to do with her" kinda thoughts coming from the hero. Man's playing the long game when the only sustained contact he has with her for the majority of the book is when he helps her off her mare everyday. The sex itself is a couple pages and low-heat. I've never read Ella Quinn before, so this just might be standard for her.
Overall:
For me, this book was a nice change of pace from all fast-paced HR I've been reading of late. It was very low conflict, and family-centric. The Husband List wasn't personally for me, but I would recommend this book to fans of Julia Quinn, or even people who like Austen-esque novels of manners.
Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.

Anon here! I ended up putting this on anon because I wasn't sure if this was a silly idea, but I love that other people have thoughts too 💕
I totally agree with you on the doctor who companions wouldn't be big loyalists or even despise the centre, in the end, even if they were raised two. There's a couple others who I feel definitely might have done a year or couple as kids, but definitely would not have stayed. Rose for one, Mickey too, I think the stipend would definitely have been a big factor there.
There's others that I think would eventually get to the anti-centre mindset but might go through an ideation phase. Yaz is the one in my mind for that one, a young adult year old Yaz who has become a peacekeeper but has a lot of frustration in how she keeps getting sidelined for the ex-center careers, I think there'd be a "I should have taken that opportunity."
Others I can't see as being within a mile of the program, like Bill. Whether they even noticed her at all I think would have depended on her situation growing up - we know she had a foster mum, but at which point? Was she with her for a long time? Was she bumped around foster families? Was she in a group home at some point? I think knowing more about her situation as a kid would help see if they would have like thought, hmm. It doesn't really matter though, as Bill is someone who I could Never joining the Center, not at all, it's very not her all the morality and loyalty and propeganda. Her episodes' messages reallllyyy don't fit in with the center, not one bit.
So the only person that I can think of, like you said there, to go the entire way and volunteer, would be Mels. In this au since River wouldn't actually be Mels, I imagine this is where Mels dies, in the games. Alternatively, you could have that as the thing that has been keeping her straight to a degree, by that I mean not going off the rails, because of the degree of control and pushing and channeling anger and violence in a certain way. I could maybe see her becoming more and more reckless, and something she does gets her. On the other hand, if it's the "keep Rory there to keep Mels and Amy there," and I can't see any reason otherwise he would be kept in so long, it doesn't make sense for none of them to go in at all, so perhaps she does go in and die.
On the matter of Rory, I definitely feel that he was the subject of many board meetings, an is it worth it thing? And I wonder if he would react to things in a way that eventually he does get dropped. Depending how far in they are Im not sure what Mels and Amy would do. From Rory's perspective, I don't think he would enjoy it, but he's got the skill, and the duty. Only his duty is more to Amy than the district. So he ploughs on our of devotion to Amy, but I feel like they could twist it into a "he's loyal to his district" thing to like give them a reason not to drop him. But I'm imagining a Centurion!Rory vibe, with his sword and stuff, and the way he does stuff, it's very earthy and sincere, like the "Where. Is. My. Wife?" *cyberfleet explodes in background and he looks totally badass*
I haven't experienced C'rizz or Charley outside of fandom osmosis yet (but definitely want to listen to Scherzo and possibly more in the future.) But I do know Sissy! (I really liked A Blind Eye, it's cool that there's stuff with Charley's family, even if Sissy is an actual fucking Nazi.) And what you said tooootttallly lines up, very much so with my thoughts there.
Someone I have no idea on whether she would ever be involved is Clara, I can't get a hook on her in this scenario.
Apart from that, I also haven't watched much Classic Who, so I can't speak on their companions. Well, I know Romana and Leela, since I love the Gallifrey Audios, but I don't think any of the timelords or anyone from that setting and the series translate well to this one
I'm not sure if you know Doctor Who but I'm thinking about companions and whether they would be in the program (or not).
One who I definitely think would be, she's textbook program material, they would look at her and want to shape her, is Ace. She's got authority issues, but I think if she was in the program from a young age it would be twisted in a certain way, I feel that's something they would do. She's got a lot of fire and anger and violence, and home issues too. At 13 she burnt down an abandoned house and definitely was charged - she had a probation officer. Feel like that could be twisted instead, or it's a "yeah you get two choices, pass your centre residential exams, or juvi," since Panem has a much stricter and severe police and laws and punishments and stuff. If she did become a Victor I feel like she'd be amenable to Lyme's politics and definitely no treason going on here guys.
Someone who I think would enjoy the early years stuff but definitely not go into residential is Donna. She definitely seems someone who would enjoy all the running and games and stuff like that as a kid, but she wouldn't stay long. Her Grandad, Wilf, would Definitely be against it. He's very anti war and pacifist, he would hate that stuff.
Someone else who I think could go all the way is Amy. I feel like it would work, you've got a seven year old kid, lonely and displaced after moving a long way (would have to be within the district for this au obvs), with if you take it to be the young Amy from the pre-pandorica and reset timeline, no parents and a possibly neglected aunt, firey, dubbed the weird kid and she's very prepared to bite multiple psychiatrists for telling her that her "imaginary friend" isn't real. As she gets older she very much is aware of her appearance and how to use it to get what she wants, in a way that I think in this au the program would definitely have cultivated, she's gonna have good scores in acting.
I've watched Nine, Ten, one season of Eleven, and no Classic Who, so I will take your word for this or if anyone else has anything to add
from what I've heard about Ace that makes total sense though!

hyuppa line's first time with della
WARNING: ! spicy ! no smut but it's still something + hee's is slightly more something
birthday special! yesterday was my birthday 😌
JAKE
"I missed you so fucking much," Della and I were the first two to recover from Covid, and also the first two to return to the dorm. Even Sunoo was still in his parents' house.
Was it fair to the other boys that we get to have the dorm to themselves? Not my problem.
"I missed you more, Jakey," I could feel her smile into my (fully aware) eager kiss.
"Not possible," I mumbled when I pulled away to hug her tight. "God I missed you so much!"
We've actually been alone for a couple of hours now. We ate dinner and decided to take a soak in the bath, which is actually what we are doing right now.
"You've gotten so skinny," she pouted, running her hands on my shoulders and down my chest.
Okay I know I said I missed her but I take it back. She drives me insane- I can't handle this. She barely did anything.
"Yeah, eating was really hard when you can barely taste anything," I practically whispered out. "I didn't get hungry much too."
"Yeah 'cause the only thing you're hungry for is my-" she cut herself off with a snort, hiding her face in my neck. Della and her jokes, everyone.
"Your what?" I smirked while lightly pushing her head away so she would look at me.
"Nothing!" God, the combination of her giggle plus her blush is deadly.
"Your what? C'mon say it," I held her face in my hand.
My smirk only grew when she connected our lips and guided my hand to what she was talking about.
This wasn't the first time Della and I had done something sexual. We've been doing this for a few months now yet we've never gone all the way.
I thought I was one to wait until marriage for that, I really did. I wasn't tempted one bit.
Not when my friends in school were getting laid. Not when I had that 'girlfriend' (or whatever) before I moved. Heck- we didn't even do shit in that relationship.
But today... it just happened.
We pulled back, looked each other in the eye and just knew.
To make sure that it wasn't a misunderstanding, we simultaneously gave out a small nod.
I lifted her up and made my way to her bedroom, ignoring the wet trail we left. I can mop that later. We're the only two here anyway.
Oh when it happened... I totally get the hype. It's different from what Della's done and is miles away from my hand.
With that said, I don't understand how people could do this with just anyone. I honestly think that I would rather never do this again than do it with anyone other than Della.
Yeah- I cried afterwards, so what? I love her, okay? She’s my soulmate.
The fact that she trusted me to be her 'first' after what she went through with her ex was too much.
And yes, I guess being completely alone with her was a large factor. I suppose it could've been any of the boys (not the babies though, please no) but just- let me have my moment.
To add to that, Della also cried because she felt horrible that her first time wasn't with one of us.
So there we were, desperately making out, naked in bed with tears running down our faces.
Before another round, of course. We got all night and the day after.
HEESEUNG
"Agh fuck," I sighed and relaxed afterwards. Della giggled before making her way up to give me a peck. "Thank you, Lala."
"No problem, birthday boy," she ran her a finger down my adam's apple while looking into my eyes. I could only gulp at the sight (and slight ticklish feeling).
She knows how to make people crazy. She's incredibly good at it. Annoyingly amazing.
Because even though I just finished, she somehow got me worked up again. How is that possible? I have no idea.
"Uhh.. I- I'm gonna go... I'm gonna grab water for you," I gently placed her on my bed and left the room to calm myself down.
Thank God it was only Jake in the kitchen. I wouldn't want any of the kids to see me like this.
"Eyy," he smirked.
"Shut up. I need to calm down," I took a few gulps of water.
"Why? What happened?" I gave him a knowing look. "Yeah but why do you need to calm down?"
"I'm not that strong, Jaeyun," is he that strong? I don't think so. He should be able to relate.
"Wait- you didn't just...?" he motioned his hands together without actually clapping.
What?
"No?" he covered his opened mouth with his hand. "You thought we had.. sex?"
"No no, I don't know what I was thinking," he stood up from his seat, smiling widely. "Forget what I said, man. Have fun!" he practically skipped to his room.
Did they...? No way..
I filled a cup with water and immediately rushed back to Della.
"Thank you, oppa," I silently watched as she chugged the whole thing. "Oppa?" I swear- I don't think I will ever get tired of her aegyo.
I kept staring at her without saying anything before ultimately thinking 'screw it.'
I placed the empty glass on my desk and pounced (okay, maybe not actually pounce but you get the picture) on her. It seems like she already knew what I'm trying to hint at because her hands instantly went to remove my shirt.
Listen- I was a little nervous. I recall my ex being really horny a couple of years ago and we used to get into all these fights since I wouldn't get past foreplay. I mean come on- how old were we?
Though when the love of my life pulled away from our kiss to ask me an 'are you sure?', I knew that I had no reason to be afraid.
My Della.. She's so strong. She was pressured into doing this at such a young age just to show her love for that asshole.
The fact that she's asking me if I was okay made my heart painfully swell. I would've cried if I hadn't held it back, I swear.
I know that she was the one who asked if I was ready but I wanted to assure her that she could stop at any time, so I asked her to be on top.
The feeling was amazing. Seeing her enjoy just like I did only made it even better. She wants this as much as me. This is for us.
The only source of light came from my desk lamp and computer that was playing music. The whole atmosphere felt like a movie- it seemed unreal.
I was only reminded that it wasn't a dream when I saw the condom in my trash bin the next morning.
JAY
"Oh nice!" we walked in (practically) the same room as what I was given during my En-Log.
Remember when I said that I wanted us to stay over that hotel I was in? Well here we are.
We had just finished promotions yesterday so we have a bit of free time. Sungho got us permission for a night since he's staying in the room across.
"There's only one bed?!" Della gasped dramatically. "I'm so sorry! I thought I requested for two!" aish- Kang Della and her romance stuff.
"This isn't a romance book, honey," I pushed her head lightly with a snicker.
The first thing we did was eat the burgers we bou- well we placed our bags in the bench-thingy, washed our hands and took off our shoes but technically, that's what we did first.
Afterwards we agreed to take turns in taking a shower, with Della going first.
I'm. Fucking. Nervous. We're a bit awkward right now since this is the first time where we're truly alone for a long period.
The hot water and the smell of soap is supposed to calm me down but it really isn't. It's making me more anxious 'cause it's Della's signature strawberry scent.
Park Jay. Park Jongseong. Jongseong Jay. You can do this.
Why am I trying so hard for a night alone with my girlfriend? I even blow dried my hair and sprayed on perfume.
It's nothing you've never done before. You're acting like you've never shared a bed. Come on man, you're just spending time with the love of your life.
I put on some lip balm before taking one last look and exiting the bathroom.
Only to find Della looking like an absolute goddess.
She's wearing a tank top and a pair of shorts- the really short, loose kind. Not the training ones. Her back was facing me, showing her (now dry) naturally wavy hair.
She was looking out the window at the night scenery. After a few seconds, she turned to look at me with a small smile.
Fuck- I love her. I'm so fucking in love with her.
"Kang Della," I motioned for her to come closer. She placed her arms around my neck while I placed mine on her waist.
"Park Jay," and that's when I lost it.
Truth be told, I hesitated a little bit. Much like most relationship things, I wanted my first to be my last. I had trusted Della with virtually all my firsts, but this was on another level.
Though when it happened, all that anxiety disappeared in a flash. I'm reminded that this is my Della and there was a reason why I trust her so much.
She makes me feel loved. She's comforting without even trying. She feels like home. She's absolutely perfect. I don't and will never regret it one bit.
I suddenly understand why people could get addicted to this. I feel like it requires a huge amount of faith towards the partner, so the connection (literally) is absolutely amazing.
I kind of felt bad. I think I was so into the intimacy that I might look past her pleasure. She sounded and looked like she was enjoying it but I'm not too sure.
But hey- we're all alone, away from any responsibilities. We've got the time.
SUNGHOON
"Della," I said sheepishly when I saw the state her room was in. The lights were off, her curtains were down and her lamp was on.
It's my birthday.
Fucking finally- at least I can stop getting jealous of the other guys.
Hyuppa line maknae.. Ugh, it's like they're constantly finding ways to tease me for that title. I'm stuck in the master bedroom, I'm the last to lose my virginity- even Della fits into the group more than me sometimes.
Like for fuck's sake, it's not my fault I wanted to wait until my birthday that's more than a month away from Jay's first time.
Luckily, they still love me and agreed to distract the kids so we get the dorm all to ourselves for a couple of hours. Della and I wasted no time. After my birthday live, we instantly went home.
"You deserve it, darling," she turned on the heater and lit a scented candle. "Happy birthday, my prince," she giggled as I wrapped my arms around her while placing kisses on her neck.
"Thank you, my princess," I can't help but smile. She's my princess. "May I?" I slowly took her dress off after her nod of approval.
Holy shit.
It's white. She's wearing white. She's wearing my favourite colour.
Okay, this is very embarrassing to admit but I sort of planned everything out in my head. I've been practicing and researching to prepare for this very moment.
Yet all that just went straight out the window as soon as I saw her undergarments. My heart started beating really fast- I'm going back to shy mode.
Oh my God, we're actually doing this. This is happening.
I don't know what it is about this girl but she has the ability to make my head go blank. Imagine working hard to build up confidence for years, only to get flustered because one girl put her hair up in a ponytail. I both hate and love it so much.
"Calm down, oppa," she ran her hand up and down my arms. "It's me, your princess. It's only me," she directed my hands to the sides of her waist, where I like to place them.
When she pulled me in for a kiss, it suddenly hit me. This is Kang Della. This is my soulmate. I should just enjoy the moment and go with the flow. It's my first time, she won't hold anything against me.
I have to say (as irritating as it is), I understand why the guys keep doing it. As someone who is quite touchy, the intimacy was insane. It's the kind that I crave and could receive within one full day done in only a couple of minutes.
I did expect it, since it's probably the reason why I was so jealous. They get to be closer to her way before I did.
But she opened up her feelings to me first so I guess it's fair. What the- why am I being so damn competitive?
"You can get back at the boys, y'know?" Della removed her head from my chest to look me in the eye. "Yours was the only one planned."
"Fuck yeah- maknae on top."

Thick And Thin (one-shot)

“I want a divorce.”
Never in Harry’s life did he think he’d have to hear those words. Not after everything they’d been through, not after all of the effort he’d been putting in to save their relationship.
Those words had not only stunned him but their marriage councillor, the woman’s mouth open mid-word, as she tried to comprehend what was happening. Harry was fairing even worse. It was like his brain was short-circuiting, synapses broken and no longer sending any signals.
“Mrs Styles, I know it’s difficult,” the therapist tried to diffuse the situation. “But the reason you’re here is to avoid this specifically.”
“I don’t remember how you smell anymore,” Y/N continued not listening to the woman, voice like a black void, but her Y/E/C eyes rimmed with tears. “Or taste. I don’t remember how it feels to have you pressed up against me or what it’s like to hear your voice. I… I don’t have anything to cling onto anymore.”
“It’s why we're here!” he cried through clenched teeth, slipping on his knees before her, hands grasping Y/N’s in a vice-like grip. “It’s why we’re trying.”
The laugh she let out was detached and without any love. “We tried it your way, Harry.” She’d never called him Harry before. It was always Lover. “And it’s not working for me. It hasn’t from the start. We’re… we’re so unhappy. And I don’t want that for you or for me. We deserve happiness. But I don’t think we can give that to one another anymore.” She took in a shaky breath, looking down at Harry’s hands in her lap. “When I thought of it, at first I felt horrible. I wanted to throw myself off somewhere, but the more I sat on that thought, the more relieved I felt.”
He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, didn’t want to believe it. “Relieved?” The word felt like acid in his mouth.
“Yes,” she nodded. “Relieved. Because this choice won’t make us hurt one another anymore. This gives us a chance to have a fresh start.”
“I don’t want a fresh start! We said – we said through thick and thin.” He was grasping onto the last straw he could find. “This is the thin, but we’ll get through it.”
“Harry, I already broke through the thin. And now I’m drowning. And when the thick comes, I’ll either be frozen under it and watch you walk further, or I’ll surface somewhere, and I don’t know on which side of the shore I’m gonna be on and where you’ll be. And if you try to get me, you’ll start drowning too. I don’t want that.”
“But that’s what marriage is! Going through the tough shit together!”
“Harry… I already asked Lionel to draw up the papers. The first draft is done.”
His blood froze in his veins.
“When you said to sit down and write one thing that makes me happy about the relationship,” Y/N was looking at the therapist now, “about the person, I – I couldn’t. Because I kept thinking back to the start, to the beginning. That’s what made me happy. But now…” She glanced at Harry. “If there was one thing, I couldn’t do to you, not in a moment like this, is lie. I just… I don’t remember how to be happy with you.”
***
They’d started out as the cliché of best-friends-lose-contact-only-to-be-reunited-and-not-let-their-chance-pass-by-and-fall-in-love. She was ten when she’d moved in next door to him and he was twelve when he’d seen the three vans full up to the house, a little girl hopping out from one of them. Harry watched as she rushed up the doorstep and put in a key, unlocking it and a new chapter of her life with it. Little did he know she’d unlocked a new chapter of his life as well.
She was the new kid at school, and despite the fact that he was a year above, he sat down next to her at lunch.
“ ’M ‘arry,” he said through a mouthful of a sandwich. “Saw you move in yesterday.”
“Yeah,” she nodded. “I’m Y/N.”
And that was the start of a blooming friendship.
On her eleventh birthday, he gave her a handmade bracelet. She gave him a kiss on the cheek as a thank you, making Harry blush all shades of pink and red.
He was thirteen when he had his first real kiss on his birthday. Y/N had simply tried to peck him on the cheek, but he’d turned his head, and her mouth had ended up on his. She’d walked away with a shy smile and ears on fire.
She was thirteen when a boy first asked her out. Harry was the first person she told him about it. That was the first time his heart broke.
When he was fifteen, he got his first girlfriend. Y/N was fourteen when her heart broke for the first time.
And then he'd gone on X-factor and with that forgotten about her. She called him, texted him, messaged him on social media, but usually, she’d maybe get only one picture or a small ‘miss you too’ as a response. So, after a whole year apart, she gave up. What was the point of trying to save anything when he didn’t want to?
He moved on and became an international superstar. Y/N moved on and graduated top of her class, got into her first-choice university, and graduated with a first as well. He had some relationships here and there, while Y/N had had a steady relationship since the second year of uni, but when she decided to go to a different one for her masters they amicably broke up.
Eight years later she was sitting at a café in London, laughing with her ex-boyfriend and catching up, as he explained how what Criminal Minds showed wasn’t really what was taught in his criminology degree classes.
“I’m still saying I dated real-life Spencer Reid,” Y/N chuckled, sipping on her gingerbread latte. “Don’t give a shit, I need something to flex with.”
Harry had then walked inside the café, shaking off the snow from his boots when a familiar laugh he hadn’t heard in ages invaded his senses. It was almost like he’d stepped into a dream.
When his green eyes befell on the owner of the voice, he had to take a double-take. Somehow in his brain, he’d expected the fifteen-year-old teenager, a t-shirt of his face on her body, as she’d cheered him on when he’d gone onto his first concert as part of One Direction to be sitting in the chair, not the grown-up woman.
He’d still checked in with Y/N through what she posted on her social media, but as much as he’d promised not to have the celebrity life sweep him away, it had. Harry sometimes had two concerts a day, and he barely had a moment to take a bite of food. And he hated to admit it, but Y/N simply slipped from his life. And he didn’t bother to put in the effort to pull her back.
A huge wave of guilt and longing rushed through his body as he glanced at the woman, her face lit up by joy as she and the man before her continued on with their conversation.
Someone tapped on his shoulder, making him turn around and face another customer. “You gonna order anything?”
For a moment Harry stuttered. He could walk away without inserting himself back into Y/N’s life, but he didn’t want that. He’d missed her. Harry didn’t even realise how much he’d missed her.
“You go ahead.” He motioned with his hand. “I’m still thinking.”
Harry took in a deep breath and then walked towards where the pair was sitting.
The man’s eyes flitted up to see who was towering over Y/N, only for them to widen, and his mouth hang open.
A sense of pride filled Harry's chest at the reaction and maybe quenched a little bit of the jealousy invading his body. He used to be the one who made Y/N laugh until she had to tell him to stop or she’d pee herself. He was back to take up the role.
“You okay there, Dan?” she chuckled. “Don’t tell me there’s a ghost behind my back. I told him not to walk out of the flat wit –“ Y/N had turned around and almost choked on her drink. “Oh my god, Harry! Oh – hi!” She jumped up hugging him, feeling how his body shook with laughter at her reaction, strong arms weaving around her middle. “Holy shit, it’s really you!”
“Yeah, ‘s me. Who else?”
“I didn’t know you were back in the UK.”
A warmth spread through his chest, as he reluctantly pulled away from the hug. “Been checking in on me?”
Y/N rolled her eyes, sitting back down, but pulling up a third chair for Harry to sit upon. “Dan’s a huge fan.” She motioned with her head to the man. “When we first started dating, I thought he was only doing it because we used to be friends, and he hoped I’d set you up or something.”
Harry masked the choke of envy by clearing his throat and letting out an awkward chuckle. “Hope I’m not interrupting a date or something.”
“A catch-up date, but not a date date.” Dan lifted his brows at Y/N, who gave him a ‘don’t start this’ look to which he threw up his hands in surrender. “I’m just making conversation.”
“You’re being annoying, that’s what you are.” Y/N flicked a crumb from the table towards him.
It was in that moment that it truly hit how much he’d missed, and it hit him hard he no longer knew the person who once was his best friend.
“You’re different,” Harry said, looking over at her trying to keep the lump in his throat from making his voice break.
Y/N shrugged, eyes twinkling. “I mean it has been almost a decade. I do hope I don’t look the same as I did then. Otherwise, the pain of braces was of no use.”
“No,” he chuckled shaking his head. “’S not that… It’s like you’re a different person.”
“I grew up,” she said, sipping on the last bits of her drink. “ ’M not the same fifteen-year-old you saw last.”
He nodded and bit his lip. But the thing was, Harry wasn’t the stupid sixteen-year-old that left the fifteen-year-old her either. This time, he wouldn’t let the chance at happiness pass him by when he could’ve had it all along.
***
He sat across from Y/N at the large marble table and watched, heart bleeding out in his chest as she put her signature on the papers, her attorney fishing out something from his briefcase and handing it to her under the table. He saw her shoulders shudder before she placed a maroon rectangle with a golden inscription on it in her own purse. Harry wanted to vomit. It was her new passport, where her surname no longer matched his, where he no longer existed, inscribed into the document as her spouse.
“Mr Styles?” Y/N’s lawyer pushed the papers his way, the pen laying atop them. “’S your turn.”
‘Your turn’, as if it was a game of spin the bottle or UNO.
“Don’t make me,” he choked out, pleading with Y/N one last time. “Please don’t make me do this. Don’t make me give up on us.”
Her words were worse than a knife to his soul. “You can’t give up on something that’s no longer there.”
When they’d been at the stage of negotiation, he’d kept pushing for giving her at least half of his income, to give her one of the houses they owned together, but she’d turned everything down.
“I didn’t marry you for your money, Harry.” He’d expected her voice to be full of venom, but it wasn’t. It was sad, resigned. “I don’t want what you’ve earned.”
“Let me give you at least something.”
“I don’t want anything from you. If it makes you feel any better, you can donate whatever amount you wanted to give me. I don’t care. All I want from this is for you to sign the papers.”
“And if I can’t?”
Y/N sighed, looking down at the table. “Don’t make this harder than it has to be.”
That’s when her attorney had cleared his throat. “Mrs Sty – Y/L/N. Legally, according to the prenup, you are entitled to half of Mr Styles estate as well as twenty percent of all his earnings.”
But Y/N just shook her head. “I only signed those documents because that’s what he and his agent wanted. I never asked for it or anything or the sort. Donate it, for all I care. Buy a new house, Harry I literally don’t want to know what you do with your money.” Y/N took in a sharp breath and calmed herself down. It’d been the first time Harry had heard any sort of emotion from her since she'd spoken those horrible words. “I just want this over with.”
And now, he was at the moment of the end. He just never thought their story would end with broken hearts and ripped up futures.
His handwriting was barely legible at best of times, but right now it seemed as if a toddler had tried to forge it with how much his hand shook. When the pen dropped, so did his shoulders, and he saw Y/N’s drop as well.
Harry’s with weight from the love lost, Y/N’s with relief, for now their broken hearts wouldn’t hurt one another no longer.
His lawyer handed him over a new passport as well, where Y/N was no longer written as his spouse. The urge to rip it to shreds was almost uncontainable. He hated it more than the divorce papers.
***
They’d been dating for a little over two years when he decided to propose, only every plan he had was miserably ruined by some outside force.
The first time he’d decided he’d do it at a romantic dinner. Harry had found out Y/N wasn’t a fan of huge romantic gestures, so he wouldn’t get on one knee and draw everyone’s attention. He’d simply take her hand in his, kiss her fingers and ask.
But as they’d sat at the table enjoying their meal and talking, he noticed Y/N become quieter and quieter. A frown morphed on his face.
“You alright, Lovie?”
“Umm,” Y/N’s brow creased even more, and she dropped her fork. “I umm I don’t know. ‘M feeling kind of funky?”
“What’dya mean?”
“I – “ Y/N opened her mouth but didn’t manage to get anything else out as she jumped up and rushed towards the ladies room.
Harry quickly dropped his own utensils and rushed after her, not bothering with the yells of the woman who was looking at herself in the mirror, while his girlfriend threw up her guts inside one of the toilets.
A member of the staff had run to see what all the commotion was about, but when he saw Y/N half inside a stall, half outside, Harry’s hands keeping her hair away from her face, he went back out and immediately grabbed the first aid kit they had in the kitchen, handing it to Harry along with a cold wet towel.
Y/N shuddered, leaning against the stall wall sweat glistening on her face, as he pressed the damp cloth against her skin. She gave him half a smile. “Told you not to get the shrimp.”
“I’ll get the cab, Lovie.” He smoothed away the once meticulously styled hair, which was now stuck to her damp skin.
But she shook her head. “Not yet.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m about to puke again.”
In the end, she threw up two more times, her stomach really not agreeing with the entrée. The waiters kept apologising the whole time, and the chef had stopped cooking, the restaurant immediately taking action and refunding everyone who’d ordered anything with shrimps in them.
When they’d gotten back home, Y/N was so tired and felt so sick, Harry could only help her get out of the dress, clean her up with a warm towel and wrap her up in her favourite pyjamas before curling up together on his bed and falling asleep, making sure if there was a moment, she felt nauseous again, he was by her side. She needed his help more than he needed to propose.
***
He threw himself into his work like a madman. Day and night, he was either at a studio, on a filming lot, in between meetings or interviews. The media buzzed about how his marriage had fallen apart, even though Y/N hadn’t made a statement or spoken a word to anyone, and neither had Harry. But he guessed the emptiness of his ring finger gave everything away.
He refused, however, to speak on it. As painful as it was, he was still in love with Y/N. She hadn’t chosen to be in the spotlight, it was Harry’s world, not hers, so he respected her decision to be quiet and remained so himself, save for one single post his management had asked for him to put up. It'd also been the last time he'd spoken to her.
All he received was a simple text message 'do what you have to do'.
A couple of months down the line though, something came up, and Harry couldn’t keep his tongue behind his teeth.
It was an article in The Sun, a photograph of Y/N plastered all over the front page with the words ‘Gold-digger Y/L/N finally seen out after divorce with Harry Styles.” He’d snatched the paper right off the stand and flipped it open, frantic green eyes scanning the words.
‘Despite it only being two months since the two childhood ex-best friends broke up, Y/N Y/L/N was already seen in the company of a man, sharing a drink, and giving one another flirtatious smiles. An inside source tells us, how she hadn’t even been that upset about the divorce and has been going out and having fun with many male companions, one of them being her ex-boyfriend from university times.’
‘Harry Styles, known for his time in the pop boyband One Direction and for his solo endeavours in music as well as dabbling in acting, broke everyone’s belief in true love after being seen in public without a ring. This prompted an announcement that the four-year relationship and two-year marriage to who was once his best friend had ended and the two had decided to get a divorce. Although the post showed a picture of their silhouettes holding one another with their foreheads together, and his statement showed nothing but love and respect for his then-wife, sources say Y/N had been controlling and obsessive over her then-husband and hadn’t wanted him to leave to pursue his career, stifling his growth.’
He didn’t bother to read any further, as he pulled out his phone, calling Jeff immediately to figure out how to make all of it go away, how to do at least one thing right.
“They’re dragging her name through the mud!” he sneered, not even caring he was bumping shoulders with people, and if the paparazzi would dare spin a story of the state he was in at that moment, he’d sue each and every one of them personally. “I have to do something. Fuck, Jeff, I love her! I can’t let them paint her like this. Y/N – “ he choked back a lump. “She never asked for this. Didn’t ask for anything. And that man – that was Dan, okay. I know him. Yes, he’s her ex, but they don’t know anything!”
“Harry I’ve sent them cease-and-desist letters already.” Jeff tried to ease him. “But… she’s no longer your concern Har.”
The words hit him like a bullet and ripped a hole in his chest just like one of them would. “You might still love her,” Jeff’s voice was solemn. “But Y/N is no longer yours to protect.”
“I can’t just let them talk shit about her,” Harry whispered back.
His friend sighed on the other side of the line. “I know. Which is why we’ll deal with it. But you have to start letting her go.”
***
The second time Harry wanted to propose was about a month later, and Christmas was right around the corner. They’d decided that Christmas Eve would be spent with his sister, her boyfriend and Anne, while Christmas Day they’d go to Y/N’s side of the family.
Although they’d settled on one gift each, Harry had been carrying around that small box for what felt like an eternity. And it wouldn’t really be a gift, given how he’d wrap it and hang it in the tree.
“It’s an ornament,” he’d say to her, a smug smile on his lips, as Y/N would roll her eyes at him. “Just because it has your name on it, doesn’t mean it’s immediately a present.”
And then she’d open it, and would gasp, and Harry would slide down on his knee, press a kiss to her ring-free finger before asking that fateful question.
But just like before, his plan didn’t come to fruition.
He’d asked his mother to hang up the little box, so there was no chance of Y/N seeing it in his hands, but what he hadn’t thought of was Gemma’s boyfriend had decided on the exact same plan of action.
When Michal had dropped down on his knee, Harry’s sister’s trembling hand in his, he couldn’t do that to them. As much as he wanted to marry Y/N, he couldn’t take away Gemma’s moment. So while Y/N was preoccupied with looking at the gleaming diamond on Gemma’s finger, Harry plucked down the box from where it’d hung and placed it on the side no one could see, before he could put it in his bag.
“ ’M sorry, honey,” Anne had said to him over coffee the next morning. “I didn’t know Michal would do that.”
He’d just shaken his head, no hurt in his heart. “Great minds think alike. Our moment will come. ‘M happy for Gem. Besides, if he hadn’t done that anytime soon, I would’ve needed to have a stern talking.”
***
What his sister said to him made him think he had to be living in a simulation, because it couldn’t be true. Y/N couldn’t be getting married. Not this soon. Not ever. Not to someone who wasn’t him. It had been barely a year since he’d signed the death sentence to his own happiness.
Harry shook his head. “You’re lying. Tell me you’re lying, Gem.”
“I’m not.” Her voice broke as she said it. “I saw her at a café. Saw the ring… the man who gave it to her. Harry, I’m so sorry.”
His mind reeled with questions he wasn’t sure he wanted answers to. Was that why she’d really divorced him? Had she been cheating on him and just needed an excuse out of their relationship to jump into the new one? He was away so much on their relationship, he wouldn’t have been surprised if someone else had swooped in and tried to win her heart.
Harry’s mind was one of the greatest things he’d been blessed him, but also one of the worst curses bestowed upon him, as it weaved a story of Y/N and the man who’d now put a gleaming ring on her finger.
He was away, like always, doing something he could do another time. She was on her own, keeping their bed warm with just her body, fighting for their relationship on her own, while he made plans once more to go to a different part of the world and leave her behind again.
Y/N pulled herself out of the bed, sighing and rubbing her face. She opened their closet only to be greeted with Harry’s half empty. Maybe that was the moment she decided to find someone who’d fill it and wouldn’t leave it permanently empty, Harry conjured up.
She’d dress in a soft jumper and some jeans, a large cardigan hanging over her body and would go to a café for her morning drink. And that’s where she’d meet him. The stranger that would take her out of the lonely life she’d been living. The stranger that would make a smile bloom on her face and her heart stutter once more. The stranger who would show her the love Y/N deserved to have.
Harry had to shake his head to get rid of the thoughts before they ventured into a worse territory.
No. Y/N wasn’t like that. No matter what, she would never cheat on him. She had enough dignity for herself and respect for him, even though in his own mind, Harry didn’t think he deserved it.
Although he didn’t have a right to, nor was it the sanest move (and if someone saw him doing it, there would probably be a slew of articles), Harry got into his car and drove to where Y/N’s apartment was, and when she opened the door after hearing seven loud knocks, he stepped inside without even waiting for her to invite him.
“You’re getting married?”
She crossed her arms. “It’s none of your concern.”
“It’s been barely a year! I refuse to believe you’ve moved on so fast.”
Maybe he was kidding himself, and Y/N truly had, but as much as their marriage had fallen apart, he did have the honour of having known her and having figured some things out deeper than others would.
Y//N scoffed. “I was proposed to. And I said yes.” The words were like venom entering his veins. “If I wasn’t, then I wouldn’t have agreed to it. And as I already said – it is none of your concern.”
Harry stood there, watching as she dragged a hand down her face, eyes flitting everywhere he wasn’t. It told him everything he needed to know.
“You’re not happy,” he whispered stepping forward and reaching for her hand. “I know how you shine when you’re truly happy. This isn’t it. Why are you doing this?”
“That doesn’t matter.”
Harry was so confused, at a complete loss at what Y/N was saying. “So, you’ll what? Get married to him and be miserable? Why the hell did you divorce me then?”
Y/N sighed. “Being unhappy with him isn’t as unbearable as being unhappy with you. Because with you, I know what it feels like to truly fully loved. Which is why it broke me when you stopped.”
“I never stopped!” Harry whisper yelled, anger coursing through his veins at her words, because they were lies. “Why do you think I dragged us to marriage counselling? Why do you think I kept fighting for us? For you?! You were the one that gave up!”
“You weren’t there when I needed you.”
Harry blinked rapidly, not understanding what she meant.
“You left me for ten years. You forgot all about me until that day at the café. Not once did you message me or call me or even send fucking snail mail. I was the one putting in all the effort, I was the one who was trying to keep you in my life, but you didn’t want it. Just like it was when we were married.”
Rage bubbled under the surface, but he kept it at bay. That was not how he’d get Y/N back. “How?” he asked calmly. “How did I not want it?”
She scoffed shaking her head. “It was the same as it was ten years ago. With the movie, the new album... You were always at the studio or hanging out with your castmates. When I asked for you to free up one night, one single night, you didn’t come back until three AM, drunk off your ass, and I had to take care of you. I asked for one night. And you didn’t even give me that. So forgive me for not feeling like you still loved me.”
“Why didn’t you talk to me then?!”
“I did!” This was the first time he’d ever heard Y/N yell, before kneading her lips tightly together and then continuing more quietly. “But you never heard me. Not really. You heard what I asked, and promised to be there, but when the time came… something more important always came up. Something that always deserved to have the promise you gave me to be broken.” Y/N gave him a sad smile. “Do you remember when you first asked me out? And I said no?”
Harry nodded. “You said that we just got one another back and didn’t want to have anything rip us apart again. Didn’t even want to chance it.”
“And you said it was exactly why I should give us a chance. That we’d finally found one another again and shouldn’t let the opportunity go…” She tilted her head. “Guess we should’ve listened to me. I included.”
He couldn’t believe her. “Is that really your takeaway here? You were right?”
“But I was.” Y/N shrugged. “Look at where we are now. You forgot me for basically ten years.” She shrugged, stepping away. “Give it some time, and you’ll forget me for the rest of your life. Besides, we’ve not known one another longer than we have. So, it shouldn’t be that hard.”
“Why did you then? Go out with me?” Harry swallowed the lump in his throat. “Get married to me?”
For a moment Y/N just looked at him, Y/E/C eyes boring into his green ones. “Because I’d once again convinced myself I was important to you, just like I did when we were teens. And in my head, I had dreamt up that maybe I’d be important enough for you not to forget me.”
***
The third time did the charm though.
They were both sleepy, under the covers of Harry’s bed, eyes barely keeping open as they were determined to finish Elf.
Y/N had her cheek pressed against his chest, bare body next to his naked one. She hated sleeping in pyjamas (unless they were staying over at one of their parent’s places,) because she said it made her feel like the clothes were suffocating her. Harry didn’t like sleeping with pyjamas because all he wanted was to fully feel the skin of his lover next to his.
Snow fell behind the large windows of his London penthouse apartment, covering the city in a white blanket. It rarely snowed there, so he watched with warmth in his heart as the flakes fluttered to the ground.
It was all so calm, so serene, that Harry realised that’d been the moment he’d been waiting for. No need for fancy dinners or present it as a loud gift. Being together was a gift enough.
“Lovie?” he asked, nose hidden in her hair. “You awake?”
All he received in answer was a small hum. She was on the verge of passing out, but this was the moment, so, he whispered the question, voice so low as if he was asking the dark to marry him not Y/N.
He couldn’t look at her, afraid of what she might say, afraid she might say no, think back to the times he wasn’t there for her, think of all the reasons why he wasn’t good enough for her, and would only bring her sorrow.
“Lover.” Her voice was as soft as a summer’s morning. “Look at me. Please.”
It was one of the most frightening things in his life, as he did so.
Y/E/C eyes met green. What he saw on her face allowed his heart to calm down a little.
“Is the Sun the closest star to us?”
That he hadn’t expected. “What?”
“Does it rise in the East and set in the West?”
“Y-yes?”
Her hand cupped his cheek, and he melted against her. “Then why are you asking me a question you know the answer will be the same as to those?”
“Can I put the ring on your finger then?” He was more excited than about anything in his life.
Y/N shook her head, bringing his lips to brush against hers. “Don’t need a ring. Just need you to kiss me.”
***
The wedding was far away from the city so that no one from the press could even think about following her or her entourage. The guest list was small, compared to the three hundred people Harry’s and her wedding had had.
Anne had told him not to go. He wasn’t invited, and neither was she or Gemma, for obvious reasons. As much as Y/N loved them, she knew it’d hurt the two women, but it would hurt Harry more. So seeing her stepping out of the car, dressed in a cream wedding gown, a veil covering her face, made flashbacks appear behind Harry’s eyelids.
She’d worn an off-white gown before as well, dusty rose to be exact. And Harry’s bow tie had matched it. Y/N had never liked the thought of wearing white at her wedding.
“Listen, if it’s white, I’ll most definitely spill something on it,” she’d told him as both of them had been flipping through some wedding magazines. “You know me. But if it’s some other colour, there’s a bigger chance no one will notice when that happens.”
It didn’t seem right to him. It was like a bad fever-dream like he’d had that one time, and Y/N had had to listen to him babble about the hallucinations dancing in front of him because of the high temperature.
Her gaze remained on the ground, or maybe on the bucket of white roses in her hands. She hated white roses.
A woman in a pale blue dress straightened out the back of Y/N’s dress and the train of it, and he watched as her mother came to stand beside her daughter, giving her an elbow to grasp onto.
All he wanted was for Y/N to be happy, and it hurt to think it wasn’t with him because Harry believed it was supposed to be him.
He took in a shaky breath and got out of the car just as Y/N had walked up the steps and disappeared behind the double doors.
It was going to be him.
***
Harry knew he wasn’t the best husband in the world. He was away for a lot of time, and as conceited of an excuse it was, his job did entail going out to parties, mingling with other people living the high life, and being seen with certain celebs.
Y/N was never one for it. She always supported Harry, but she didn’t like going out and spending time with people who didn’t care for her existence. Well, maybe they did, but only in a sense that she’d been the lucky bitch who’d snagged up the Harry Styles.
But if there was something Harry did was love, and he loved wholeheartedly, which is why it absolutely destroyed him when he’d gotten back home one evening and heard Y/N crying in their bathroom.
She’d never tell him, but it was because no longer did his pillow smell like him. Harry had been away for so long, that the essence of him that’d soaked into their sheets was no longer there. And it broke her to pieces.
When he’d get home, he’d be so tired, he’d crash on the couch, only tiptoeing his way into their shared room to go to his closet and get some clean clothes in the morning. He’d look over at his sleeping wife and allow a blissful smile to bloom on his face at the sight.
He was so lucky to have Y/N back in his life. He was so lucky she’d accepted him and fallen for him as he’d fallen for her. He’d silently move over and press a kiss to her temple, before going back down and off to work once more. Only he wouldn’t see the dried tears on her cheeks.
So, when he’d found her curled up in the tub, hands in her hair, face hidden by her knees, frame trembling like leaves in a storm, he instantly dropped to his knees, ignoring the sharp pain shooting through his bones, as he pulled Y/N into him.
“I can’t, Harry,” she choked out, shaking her head. He knew it was bad. She never called him by his name. “I can’t do this. I’m so alone. Even when you’re here, I’m alone.”
Harry had had his heart broken before, and always he wondered afterwards if someone took it out of his chest at that moment, what kind of a sound would it make. Or maybe it wouldn’t. Maybe it’d be as silent as the tears running down his face at Y/N’s confession.
“Maybe,” he swallowed harshly trying to keep his whole body from shaking, from showing the fear her statement instilled in him. “Maybe we need couple’s therapy.”
“What?” her eyebrows had shot up to the middle of the forehead.
“Y/N, we’re clearly having problems. I – I know I need to work on things, but you’re also not telling me how you’re feeling. Maybe we just need some help.”
She didn’t really know what to respond. In her mind, Y/N had somehow conjured up an image that if she ever got married, they’d be happy. Sure, they’d fight and have rows, but they’d always be able to work things out on their own. Not once in her life, did she ever think she’d need to go and see a marriage counsellor to help her save her marriage.
Her own parents much like Harry’s had gotten divorced. Hers had tried therapy. It’d been their last resort. It didn't work. So, when he’d mentioned it to her, that’s what made her decide it was truly over.
Y/N nodded, bringing him in for a hug, and felt his body melt into hers with relief.
She’d try, for Harry, but her mind was already made up.
***
So he stood outside the doors, listening for the line of ‘if there is anyone who opposes this union speak up now, or forever hold your peace’. His hand grasped the handle, ready to push, but… he couldn’t. He’d ruined her happy ever after once before. He couldn’t do that again to her.
Tears streamed down his face as he pocketed his hands and ventured away from the ceremony. The ceremony where the love of his life was promising to cherish someone else, to fight through thick and thin with someone else, to make someone else happy, while her own happiness suffered.
Harry sat in his car, waiting for her to exit, a smile on her face as she’d hold the hand of who now was her husband. That'd be the moment he'd let go of her. But when the doors sprung open, she was alone, hands clutching onto the front of her dress, as she rushed down the steps and back inside the car she’d arrived in.
For a second he sat in his vehicle, stunned beyond belief at what had happened, at what, as horrible as it sounded, he hoped had happened. When a man, hand in his hair ran outside as well, the same woman in the pale blue dress rushing out with him, Harry knew.
He was basically a madman on the road, breaking almost every possible law as he tried to catch up to the car Y/N had jumped in.
His mind raced with the possibilities of where she could’ve gone. The airport, her family’s summer house in Winchester, honestly anywhere in the world, but Harry shut up his mind, and allowed his heart to make the decision.
It didn’t seem like Y/N had premeditated fleeing from her wedding, which meant she’d need her stuff. And that meant going to her apartment as quickly as possible before someone came to look for her.
The way he parked was probably illegal leaving the car basically in the middle of the road, but Harry didn’t care much as he frantically rushed up the steps of her apartment complex. He was scared that if he knocked, she wouldn’t open, thinking it might be someone from the wedding, but he didn’t need to be afraid of it, as he saw Y/N, her hair still styled as it had been for the ceremony, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, a suitcase in hand exiting from the flat.
“Why didn’t you do it?” he breathlessly asked, startling her and making her drop the keys.
Y/N’s eyebrows furrowed. “What? What are you doing here?”
Harry stepped closer, hand cupping her cheek, insides trembling from all of the emotions coursing through his body. “Why didn’t you do it? Marry him? Why didn’t you say yes?”
“I – “ Y/N choked on her words. “I couldn’t say yes. It didn’t feel right.”
“Why?”
“Because it wasn’t you, I was saying yes to.”
That was all Harry needed to kiss her like he'd done once before. And this time, he wasn’t going to let her go. He’d made that mistake twice. He would never repeat it again.
“I love you,” he cried through a laugh. “I love you. I love you. I love you. And I’m never letting you slip through my fingers ever again.”
“How can you even think about loving me again after what I did to us?” she asked, pulling away from his lips.
Harry chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re talking like I ever stopped. Through thick and thin. It’s what we promised. Think and thin, my Lovie."
***
A sixteen-year-old Harry and a fifteen-year-old Y/N laid outside in the grass of Harry’s garden; eyes trained onto the dark night starlit sky above. It was the day before his life changed forever as did hers.
“Do you believe in soulmates?” Harry asked, trying to catch a glimpse of a shooting star.
Y/N scrunched up her nose. “No. I don’t think I do. And I don’t think I want one.”
“Why not?”
“What if they’re old and in their thirties? Or dead?”
Harry snorted at her response.
“And you?” Y/N turned her head to look at him. “Do you believe in soulmates?
He bit his lip and nodded. “I think I do. I think it’s two people who’ve been brought together, and no matter what happens will find their way to one another. Through thick and thin.”
"And what if one of them breaks the other's heart?"
"That's the thin." He looked at her. "And you don't give up then. It's when you need to love them even more."

SSO Horrors
A post diving into how dark this franchise’s storyline gets and ideas for a horror game that will never actually be created. SPOILERS for the SL books and SSO storyline.
This idea originally came to me after reading the second book of the SL trilogy, The Legend Awakens. Props to Helena Dahlgren for the Pine Hill Manor scenes in that book; I was completely left on the edge of my seat the entire time. Linda’s whole experience was definitely an unexpected thriller for the children’s genre; cutting her leg on a broken window, exploring an old creepy mansion owned by the centuries-old psychopath that was targeting her, her friends, and their horses, being chased down halls and having to barricade herself in rooms to be protected from the apparent non-human dark riders (not to mention the way Dahlgren describes the animal sounds and scratching that they made, chills), and, to top it all off, nearly dying from sepsis due to her cut becoming infected.... if that’s not horror game material, I don’t know what is.
If you can’t already tell from the title of this post, I am a huge fan of the horror genre. The suspense-packed and often deep moral stories are always a fun watch/read. I personally am currently making my way through some classic Stephen King books that I haven’t read yet which was sort of what inspired this post.
Taking a look at SSO’s storyline on the surface level, we see a classic dark vs. light story, with horses and female heroines as the main points. However, there are quite a few darker elements hidden among the story quests, most of which would only be noticeable to the eye of the older audience of the game. The potential for this plot to be upped to a more mature level as far as darker themes go is definitely there. Regardless, the already existing underlying themes have some heavy themes...
- Teenagers, around the ages of 15-19, have been tasked with saving the world from a demonic entity. They have been granted special powers to do this with. These powers however can be extremely dangerous, as we see with both Alex and Catherine with their Lightning Circle incidents, in which they almost killed living beings. These factors combined would no doubt take some sort of psychological toll on the Soul Riders, as they are so named.
- Brainwashing and cult-mindset was a huge theme brought up with Justin’s kidnapping. He was abruptly cut off from the outside world, had his memories removed, and his mind artificially filled with thoughts of Garnok and world domination. It’s clear when he is rescued and goes back to his home that he’s depressed; his Midsummer dialogue a year back was “My dad thought it would be good for me to get out. I don’t do that much anymore” (not exact but close enough). When he talks to his mother during the memories quests the first thing he jumps to seeing her pregnant with him is “I wonder if she’d would be so excited if she knew all the terrible things I did”. To add to that, upon getting Justin back home, Thomas tells our character “If he keeps having these dark thoughts, I’ll have to turn to the druids.” That in itself was pretty unsettling. All this dialogue was put there to draw attention to the mental affects of literally having your brain tampered with.
- Elizabeth’s story was probably one of the saddest in my opinion. She had to stand by while her friend group fell apart, one going on to die, one going missing, and the other two continuing to split away from her. She then felt it was her responsibility to make up for her sisterhood’s failures, staying with the druids and eventually helping recruit new Soul Riders. Seriously though, imagine that. She saw what pain the magical war brought to her and her friends; knowing that she was pushing four more kids into a situation like that would’ve been devastating (here comes the morals vs. duty idea). Our character must have been a whole other level of that feeling. She saw what Catherine went through with her magic - the fear, the near madness. Then of course she goes on to imprison her close friend’s son (it appeared from the quests that she was closest to Catherine so that just adds to the pain). And to end it all, she sacrifices herself to save a girl who she considered a daughter.... jeez. - Catherine is another issue here for obvious reasons. A teenage girl is entrusted with goddess-level powers, then nearly goes psycho from the inability to control them. You can clearly tell from her last few diary entries how exhausting that was and how happy she was to finally have a somewhat normal life with her husband and son.
- And finally of course we have the DC gang. Mr. Sands is a basket case all on his own, a man who has used mind control (arguably in my opinion one of the creepiest forms of dark magic out there) on numerous victims including his own grandson, a man who legitimately worships a demon, and not to mention has it out for a bunch of teenagers. His whole backstory with Rosalinda made me feel some sort of sympathy for his character (he watched her nearly be drowned to death), and I’m actually quite curious as to where they’re going to take that. Also, The Nightmare Institute? That could be a horror game within itself. All we know so far about that place is that humans and animals are tested on with dangerous materials (ex. Mr. Anwir). Let’s not forget to mention the dark riders who apparently have animal qualities now? (as it was described in the SL books) Ok so we can clearly see that SSO’s storyline gets a bit dark. But just imagine; a Pine Hill Mansion first-person POV game, where you’re in a situation similar to Linda’s, or even one in DC or the Nightmare Institute. Honestly this entire storyline could be turned into some Resident Evil plot lol.
But that being said, as much as it’s fun to speculate these types of things, I enjoy SSO’s storyline just the way it is. It’s enjoyable for me as an older player, but it’s also filled with great moral stories and motivation for young children, especially girls. I love the atmosphere of female empowerment, and it’s especially unique to SSO because around the time of it’s initial release, that wasn’t seen much in video games.
Might start during these ‘chat’ or ‘random things that come to my mind’ posts more often.

Hi. This blog is absolutely amazing! But I have a few questions... Who are all of the batboys kids? How many do they have? Who are their spouses? (I'm new and I got confused with all of the characters).
Hello my love! I’m happy to have you here! (And I get confused sometimes too 😂)
So this is obviously just for my blog, everyone has different opinions, etc.
Jason, Tim, and Damian only have kids in my Omega squad universe. Dick has one in the Omega Squad and one YJL universe. (And two in my DCAMU universe, but I don’t write in it as much)
Jason is single, but adopted a little girl, Dahlia. Dahlia is completely blind, but trusted him the first time they met. (She was in a shitty orphanage he and Roy were taking it down. She lost her favorite toy, heard him, asked for help, ended up talking with him for a while.) While the family acknowledges where her disability limits her, they never treat her like she’s incapable of anything….Though they tease her about getting Jason’s temper. Her response? “I got his right hook too.”
Dahlia is pansexual and ends up with Beck, a non-binary meta. I’m debating on them having a kid because…Grandpa Jason….
Damian marries Irey West. They had their daughter, Asha, when they were 19. Damian was actually killed before Irey knew she was pregnant. Brought back around the time Asha was born. No one thought it was possible for a baby to scowl. Asha proved them wrong 😂 She actually grows up to be a raging lesbian, has a wonderful blend of both parents personalities, and definitely got her Baba’s thing for weapons.
Tim marries Kon Kent. Cassie Sandsmark was their surrogate for their daughter, Grace. She is half Amazon, potentially quarter kryptonian, and constantly done with her Dads 😂 She’s easily the smartest of Bruce’s grandkids. I mean like scarily so. Grace can hack into almost anything, but will throw a bitch if needed.
Why do they all have a daughter only? Because that’s all they could literally handle. And Bruce watches his granddaughters do the same shit his sons did to him.
Then there’s Dick.
Oh Dick.
Dick is my exception to the one daughter rule.
In the Omega Squad universe, he has a daughter, Mar’i, with Koriand’r (Starfire.) He and Kor’i were in different places when she went back to Tamaran. Neither knew she was pregnant, but once she did, Kor’i made the choice not to tell Dick. He wasn’t ready to be a dad, but she was ready to be a mom. Unfortunately, Kor’i died due to illness when Mar’i was 7. Dick found out he was a dad and his ex was dead and… it was a lot.
He and Barbara had had a situationship/FWB thing going on, but she suggested taking a step back. They definitely stayed very close. Mar’i loves all her aunties, but clocked her daddy’s feelings for Aunt Babsy. She was 8 when she asked when they’d get married.
And yes Mar’i brought it up at their wedding 20ish years later 😂😂 (I have some sweet headcannons regarding that.)
Dick also has four grandkids through Mar’i and her husband, Jon Kent: Charlotte “Charlie”, Peter, Mary “M&M”, and Laney.
Then there is my YJL universe, which is semi based on the TV show Young Justice.
Dick does marry Barbara, maybe mid/late 20’s? Together they have a son, Luca. Because of Barbara’s injury and other factors, Luca’s an only child.
Luca grew up hearing how much of a “Ladies man” his dad was and almost expected to be the same way. Which was really confusing for a little kid, but way more confusing for a gay teenager. It felt like he was letting everyone down by being gay. Dick felt horrible when Luca came out, but immediately told his son “the day you were born, I said I’d love you no matter what. I’m not backing out of that now.”
Luca eventually marries Matty West, Artemis and Wally’s son. They have three kids, Finn, Sawyer, and Kat.
I’ve also considered giving Steph and Cass a kid if you’d want to know about that!

02.
everything has changed (whether we like it or not)
When did everything change?
That was an easy question to answer, really. But there was more to it.
Everything could go back to the time Bakugouu first discovered his quirk in kindergarten, he had just turned 5, during playtime, he playfully shoved you before you felt force, heat – an explosion, before faceplanting to the ground.
Little Izuku ran towards you, helping you off your feet. Meeting the panicked look in your best friend’s eyes, you turned back to the blond, staring at his palms in awe, at the little explosions emitting off his sweat.
Funny enough, whenever he sweats, it was always sweet-smelling, never foul or salty.
“Uwah, amazing quirk, Katsuk!” your teacher said, kneeling down to give your best friend an appraising look.
Carmine eyes looked up from his palm, tiny explosives going off excitedly.
“Cool! His quirk’s so cool!”
“It’s so radical, just like him!”
Beside you, Izuku’s eyes sparkled with excitement, happy for your best friend for finally manifesting his own quirk.
“Kacchan’s amazing!”
Discovering your quirk at such a young age, especially with an amazing quirk, should be exciting. However, the look in Katsuki’s carmine eyes was scaring you.
The more he was praised for his quirk, the more his explosions went off, the more the gleam in his eyes was scaring you.
Who is…? What is this?
“Ah, I see. I’m just awesome, and everyone else isn’t!”
Later that day, a small burnt mark was found at the back of your neck. A tell-tale reminder of what’s to come.
And then, Izuku found out that he was quirkless.
It was supposed to be a secret between the three of you, but somehow, everyone caught wind of it and began avoiding Izuku, lest they get caught with his ‘quirkless’ germs. Because you were with him a lot, not showing signs of quirk, kids easily assumed that the quirkless germs were true.
Was that when things changed?
After kindergarten, Katsuki found himself a new set of friends, those who weren’t quirkless like you and Izuku, friends who had cool quirks that could considerably pass up to his.
Since discovering his quirk, not only did it fuel his ego, but it also put a strain on your once impenetrable and inseparable friendship.
Now, he was more bent on being the best of the best, together with his amazing quirk that’ll surely bring him there no problem.
Everyone else were just beneath him, not worth his time, effort, or breath. Especially Deku – how you detested that nickname, so full of malice, disgust, and mockery – everything Izuku didn’t deserve, especially from his once best friend.
Since then, he’s deserted the two of you.
You didn’t care, you had Izuku.
Fuck Bakugou and his new quirk, ambition, and shittiness.
You didn’t need him anyway.
From: Izuku
To: (Name)
(Nickname)! I’m doing well. Just having lunch with my classmates right now!
Tapping the photo, you could see Izuku smiling at the camera with a few friends in the shot – the brown-haired girl, Uraraka Ochako, the bespectacled boy, Iida Tenya, and the quiet boy, too busy eating his soba, Todoroki Shouto. It made you smile in return, having your own lunch as of texting.
To: Izuku
From: (Name)
You better eat up, then. You hear me?
Also, stop being so reckless and take care, okay?
Right after the events at UA – the whole League of Villains intercepting the school, Izuku was, more than ever, always brought to the clinic. And you, being one of his immediate contacts (next to his mom), would rush over just to check on him, fighting a tooth and nail just to be with him. And time and time again, Izuku would give you an apologetic smile, matched with his unyielding assuring words, kind eyes, and warm hug.
The only thing you ever hated about Izuku is his recklessness, wrought by his strong sense of justice.
Having enough of everything he’s been through, it was only fair that he revealed something to you, something to explain a bit of him getting accepted at one of the most prestigious schools in Japan while bearing an almost enduring and testy quirk, a secret he knew he could only entrust to you because you were one of the few people Izuku trusted more than anything in the world – his quirk was not his, but it was passed down to him by All Might.
The revelation was shocking to you, especially because it was tied along with so many other factors you couldn’t begin to fathom. But with enough explanation, eventually, everything seemed to tie together and make better sense.
Although worried about his well-being, once again, Izuku was quick to assure you that he was working his best to make everyone – not just his idol, All Might – proud and safe. That was more than enough for you.
Still, it was such a big secret to bear. But, obviously, he trusted you, because you were his best friend.
Well, you and that other guy, for some reason.
"(Name)-san, you're going to snap that broom in half!" your co-worker called out.
Loosening your hold, you inspected the wood, glad to see that it was still intact. It was still three minutes past four, you realize, just a few minutes before dusk.
Sighing, you turned to your co-worker with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, Otoha, just got something on my mind."
Izuku did tell Bakugouu his secret in a roundabout way, the blond would at least catch on to that, being a smart asshole. You just couldn’t wrap your head at the idea of having to entrust him Izuku’s big secret.
The younger girl tilts her head to the side, in thought, as she stares at you. "Are you sure? You seem to be out of it since this morning."
"Yeah, I am. Promise."
Right after revealing his secret, Izuku had planned to have you and the famed Symbol of Peace meet – to assure both parties. But you declined, knowing how busy hero work was.
(Also, to be in his presence would be something. You couldn’t deal with that. Izuku going a mile about how amazing he was made up for it.)
However, with the newfound information given to you, it was almost too much to bear. It was amazing to hear how Izuku was adjusting to his new life, working his hardest, granted that he earned it all. Guilt gnawed your insides, realizing that you were doing him a disservice at the same time, as you had your own secret you weren't telling your best friend.
Exhaling through your nose, you walked around back, to return the cleaning supplies, missing the group of people entering the cafe, hearing only the cheery greetings from Otoha and your other co-workers.
05:51 pm.
The café was in full bloom, packed with students from various schools filling all the seats. You’d spot some of your regular customers, most don’t stay long whilst stop just drop by for a coffee fix before they’re off.
From the far corner, a small group of students you could only guess were from UA, judging from their uniform, were making quite a ruckus.
Thankfully, there was enough staff that day.
Still, working was taxing!
Off to handle drinks, you kept the newbies by your side, promptly teaching them how to mix orders, which cups to use for which drinks, the amount of syrup, etcetera before they finished up for you and you were left to prepare another order. Like clockwork, they’d be back by your side for another order, and the process would start all over again.
Seeing as how well they were doing, you decided to leave them to make their own drinks as you worked on your own. Coming up to serve at the bar, readying your smile, your expression froze as you were met with the last person you wanted to see.
"The fuck-"
Not letting him finish, you forced the smile on back before practically shoving the drink into his hands, uncaring that it almost spilled over.
“Oi-“
"Enjoy your drinks, sir!"
Otoha, your young, sweet, co-worker, saw the whole thing, flinched at your gesture, warily watching you turn your back to help fix other orders without another bat towards the blond who just stared. Discreetly walking over, to fix her own order, she whispers, "(Name)-san, do you know him-"
"No."
"Are you sure-"
"Yes."
"But-"
"Otoha," turning to her with a pained smile, you reply. "I've never seen him before in my life. Okay?"
Feeling a shiver run down her spine, the younger girl slowly, nervously nodded. "O-Okay..."
…
“Bakugou my man, are you alright?”
“…”
“That girl looked really pissed at you, do you know her?”
"..."
“Is she an ex-girlfriend? Is that why she was so angry?”
"..."
“Yeah! And you’ve been wanting to head to this café for a while now.”
"..."
“I must admit, she’s kinda cute- “
“I will end you, dunce face.”
09:08 pm
Ever since she applied, you had taken Otoha under your wing and she all but admired you after your first meeting. You both lived in the same area, so you’d take it upon yourself to walk her home, not trusting a young teen like her to walk alone, especially when evil abounded. Also, she was quirkless.
That night, you were walking along the quiet streets, hands in your pockets as Otoha hummed under her breath. You stopped, ears picking up on footsteps – two, no three people were trailing after you. Gently taking the girl by the arm, you led her to another route, to a busier area, hoping to lose them.
Otoha was too gung-ho about her surroundings to understand your predicament, which was probably for the best. Still, you could feel them behind you.
Exiting the busy lane, the two of you crossed the street, turned a corner, into an empty square. Just as you walked in, so did they – three guys in godawful flashy clothes.
Scared, the younger girl hid behind you and you took a step forward, shielding her from their lecherous gaze.
“Can we help you?”
One of them laughed, some pansy in ridiculous SUPRA outfit waltzed towards you.
“Oh no, no, no, can we help you, young misses?”
You had to roll your eyes at that.
“Well, let’s see, it’s late at night,” he drawled, flashing gold in his teeth “two girls are out walking out,” his two companions chuckled “dangerous is it not?”
Your expression remained, betraying nothing. The pansy decided to talk some more, probably on some shit about chivalry.
“And well, we gentlemen thought it would be just right to walk you girls home!” And there it was. “It’s dangerous for little girls to be out so late.”
And he was right.
“Otoha,” you whispered, as he continued to babble. “take this alleyway,” to gesture with a quick tilt of your head, something the guys didn’t notice. “go straight then turn to your first left, you’ll be safe then.”
“E-Eh? How about you?”
Smiling, you met her gaze. “I’ll be fine.”
“…So, little girls, what’s it gonna be?”
Crossing your arms, you sighed. “Well, you guys do have a point…”
They smile amongst themselves, rather smugly.
“But” taking Otoha’s hand, you tugged her towards the alleyway, pushing her with all you have onto her shoulders. “I don’t trust fuckers who look like they belong to the world’s worst dance troupe that easily!”
The younger girl took this as her cue, albeit slightly confused, but fuelled by panic to run for it.
Loosening your bag, you allow it fall off your shoulders, before it hit the ground, and just as his goons were about to touch a hide of Otoha’s hair, you were before him, eyes ablaze with a ferocious, eerily calm expression on your face, before kicking him away from the young girl.
The force of the kick sends him rolling on the dirt before he’s out cold. One down, exhaling and you fell into a stance, eyes yellow like the moon above you.
Bracing yourself for the next assault, your ears picked up something clinking – a weapon? Ah, knuckle braces which circle his entire fists. Ah, his quirk.
Beside him, his other companion put on his glasses, his godawful flashy clothes engulfing him like an armored suit.
Always gotta be ballsy.
The lights flicker above you; you didn’t move from your spot nor did you deter from their sneers.
“You’ll wish you came willingly like a good girl!” screamed armored flashy guy. Fists hammered against each other and the two were dashing towards you.
Despite being outnumbered, adrenaline rushed through your veins, reeling with excitement as you messed with them, toying at every chance you got.
Dodging a fist thrown your way, eyes caught on the armored flashy guy you easily swung low, aiming for his legs, playing a dangerous tango against two. Sweeping low, you managed to just barely block the kick thrown your way, using the awkward push back, forcing the weight unto your back before swiftly kicking him back.
Once knocked out, you focused on fists, quick to press your body flat against the ground to dodge a measly kick, before lifting your body ever so slightly to deliver a kick to the back of his head, slamming painfully to the ground. Two down.
The light above burst, glass flying everywhere as the armored flashy guy smugly laughed to himself. “Now look what you did, little girl. It’s night out~ A dangerous time for little girls like you~” putting on his shades, which were actually night vision goggles, he walked towards the unsuspecting girl. “And I have to take good care of good girls like you~”
Without turning, you grabbed the hand that reached for your head.
“Eh?”
You could hear the thump of his heart, the hitch of his breath, his muscles moving – it was satisfying to know how much he underestimated you.
“What was it you said again,” came your voice, smooth and calm. “you’d take care of a little girl like me?”
Clenching your hand in his, you heard a crack, he screamed in pain, falling to his knees with one hand in the air.
Head turning, he flinched at the sight of you – eyes once were (e/c) gleamed a dangerous yellow, maybe not like the moon, but of a creature of the moon, a dangerous smirk playing on your lips.
“You’re right, it is dangerous to be out this late at night.”
Faster than the eye can see, you elbow him in the face, hearing a satisfying crack, before tossing him away from you.
Exhaling, you felt your nerves come to a calm. Yellow eyes took in your surroundings, ensuring that they didn’t have any more accomplices.
Three bodies, down and unconscious. You were good. With the help of your heightened senses, you found that Otoha had just fled to safety and that there was an unwanted presence behind you, smelling like burnt sugar and spicy cinnamon.
“Can I help you,” without looking his way, you turned to grab your bag from the ground “Bakugou Katsuki?”
Having seen the whole thing, he was rendered speechless, voice caught in his throat. “(N-Name)…” was all he managed to say, clearly shocked at the new discovery. "Oi, oi, oi, what the fuck? Y-You…you had a quirk all along?"
Exhaling through your nose, quite angrily, you nodded. "Yes."
Even without looking his way, you could tell his expression had changed – feel his heart thump slowly, hear the hitch in his throat – completely seething that he was lied to, kept in the dark.
You barely flinched when he grabbed you by the shoulder, rather forcingly. "Then why the fuck didn't you-"
"Tell you? Oh please, don't give me that bull that you wanted to know." Pushing him away, you didn't mind the pain in your abdomen, choosing to distance from him. "It was enough knowing that you thought having a quirk made you the king of the world and those who didn't were peasants. In layman's term, it wouldn't change a damn thing."
Carmine eyes remained on you, wide, heated, for once not filled with anger, but of confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing." You sighed, tiredly this time, massaging the bridge of your nose.
"No, tell me."
"What good would it do you?"
"I just want to know."
Scoffing, you shook your head, running a hand through your hair. "Your chances were used up; you have no fucking right now."
And with that, you left.
Despite being quirkless, Izuku managed to make up what he lacked with the help of keen observation that was powered by his fascination with quirks. Thus, began his ‘Hero Analysis’ notebooks, in which he’d list down hero after hero, their amazing feats, quirks, abilities, possibilities, theories – basically, a Wikipedia page. In addition, Izuku was stronger than he looked, especially because he had a heart of gold and a strong sense of justice.
You, on the other hand, could care less about quirks. They were something to behold, true, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re still human just with an added bonus, that’s it.
For the longest time, you withheld the one secret you could never have the heart to tell your best friend – you had a quirk of your own. It wasn't an impressive quirk, but it wasn't a bad one either.
Your quirk was called ‘The Night One’ - having heightened senses, agility, and strength but only at night. Most of your abilities were likened to those of nocturnal animals. When activated, your eyes would turn golden yellow. As the quirk made you active at night, obviously, and making you a bit of an insomniac, its drawback was that it made you restless during morning time.
The Yoruichi family came from a long line of martial artists, all of which mastered every martial art known to man. Before you were 10, you'd mastered it all.
Your family was more of an anti-hero, which is why they chose to lay low and pretend they were normal quirkless folks. It was easier to hide in plain sight, after all. The family had a reputation in the underground business, especially for stealth and espionage work.
Eraserhead was a family friend, he was basically your uncle growing up. He was also your idol.
Your quirk first appeared when you got your first period, which was normal for a female in your family. Not only was it terrifying experience, but you didn’t really care much for it, especially since you just wanted to live a normal life free from the expectations of society and the weight of it.
The thought of heroes and quirks made you skeptic, to say the least. And it was thanks to a certain blond.
However, your parents were more than understanding with your views – however jaded they were, assuring you that it wasn’t all bad.
“But since you’re doing this for Izuku’s sake, I don’t see why not.” Your father had said, patting your head gently.
“He’s my best friend,” 7-year old you were quick to say, cheeks puffing.
“Yes, yes, we know. We all know who you’re really setting your eyes for.” Your grandfather said teasingly, causing your cheeks to burn, sticking your tongue out to him.
Laughter left your parents’ lips, your grandfather included. Gently, your mother took you in her arms, smiling kindly at you. “But, (Name), what you’re doing is quite noble. You may not like what I’m about to say, but what you’re doing is a mark of a hero – putting others before yourself.”
“Still, we’re going to work you to the bone in the Yoruichi fashion!”
Both your parents turned sullenly to your grandfather, clearly displeased.
“Father, please.”
“You ruined the moment, old man.”
So, when did everything change?
Was it the time Izuku and you were paired more often during class? Katsuki had plenty of friends anyway. He didn’t seem to mind, stating that it was better than being exposed to quirkless germs.
Was it when Izuku and you would still tagalong to play? In the end, Katsuki would leave you in the middle of a game with his new friends.
Or was it the time Katsuki fell off that log?
You could remember it, clear as day, you and bunch of other kids tagged along to play in the forest, Katsuki leading the charge as always, you and Izuku in the last. The lot of you found yourselves with a log that connected the two cliffs together, but Katsuki just walked on, the rest followed. Halfway through, he slipped on the mossy part of the log before falling into the water.
“KATSUKI!/KACCHAN!” both you and Izuku screamed in unison, scurrying down to help him.
While the rest of your friends called out, watching, the two of you were waddling knee-deep into the water towards your best friend.
“Kacchan,” Izuku’s small voice called. “are you okay? Can you stand?”
Yes, you remember it well. The look in his eyes when Izuku offered his hand, offered him refuge and help. You were next to Izuku, unsure of the tense situation at that single moment.
And what did Katsuki do?
He slapped Izuku’s hand away, throwing away everything you three had in the process.
That’s when everything changed.
Friday, you were working the bar, lazily keeping the counter clean, when the door opened.
“Welcome!” you cried, smile in place, it widened when you were met with green curly locks. “Izuku!”
“Hi, (Nickname)! Uwah, so this is where you work, it’s rather cozy-looking!”
Smiling cheekily, you pressed your palms against the counter, watching as he approached. “Well, it is a café.” Noticing he wasn’t alone, you smiled at the company. “And who are these lovely people?”
“A-Ah, how rude of me! Everyone,” he turned to the small group, who had been watching your interaction quietly. “this is my childhood friend, (Name) Yoruichi.”
“Yo!” you gave a two-fingered salute in greeting.
“(Nickname), these are my friends-“
“I kinda know who they are, Izuku.” You teased, cutting him off, making you laugh. “But, by all means.”
“Greetings, I’m Tenya Iida!” the tall bespectacled boy says, waving his hands robotically, almost dangerously.
“Shouto Todoroki.” The dual-haired boy nods at you, eyeing the menu behind you in interest. Idly, you handed him a menu so he can have a clearer view, he mutters his thanks.
“And I’m Ochako Uraraka!” the lone brunette female says, cheerily, grabbing both your hands in hers. “It’s so nice to finally meet you! Deku-kun talks about you a lot!”
“The pleasure is all mine, then. Thanks so much for taking care of my clumsy little broccoli.”
“(N-Nickname)!”
“Any case!” Iida chops a hand in, catching everyone’s attention. “We shouldn’t dilly dally! We must place our orders!”
“No worries,” you wave at him. “it’s pretty quiet this time of the week. But,” fixing your posture, standing a little straight, you put on your work persona. “anything you’d like to order?”
“I’ll have the chai latte,” says Todoroki, having made his decision. “cold, please.”
“Okay,” nodding, you turn to Iida, who orders a hot mocha, Uraraka orders a strawberry Frappuccino with cheesecake on the side. Uraraka turned to Iida and Todoroki, looking checking for available seats whilst waiting for Izuku – you liked them, they were a good bunch.
Turning to the green-haired boy, he was left eyeing the menu rather clinically, taking his time. Poking his forehead, he blinks at you. “Hot Matcha?”
He chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. “You know me too well, (Nickname).”
“That I do, Izuku, that I do.”
One thing that never changed though, the one thing you hoped never would, was the friendship you have with Izuku.
