studying soviet history does unfortunately make it impossible to be a communist online. its crazy how we still havent managed to figure out how to discuss ideas without deifying the figures who wrote them. sorry this is my required bimonthly “jesus christ can someone please factor the history of russian colonialism into their discussion of the ussr” post

#the thing with lenin is that he did write great things criticizing imperialism but he also created the state that continued to colonize #central and northeast asia. like when you watch soviet propaganda films from the time of lenin its really obvious how they view what they #verbatim called ‘cultural backwardsness’ and sought to eradicate #and this doesnt like discount the Ideas he proposed by again its this whole deification of the person thing #people on here will rightfully tear apart the american state but have this giant blind spot to the very idea that the russian state was also #you know.
