The Possibilities...Part 2

// After the last post of the CD covers I did went over so well with y’all, I decided to do the other 13 songs in the show and added in some character themed ones as well. Hope y’all like these ones as much as you did the last batch. I have 20, so they’ll be in 2 separate posts! 😊😄

** I also gave little descriptions for each cover to explain why I chose a certain pic, how I came up with the character or band specific logo in the top corner, and/or any other needed explanations (like college age looking characters or what’s up with Caleb).**

PART 1

~ For this one, I was deciding between a neon sign of a rainbow or going for a more generic picture of someone on a cliff side for lyrics like “That we're standing on the edge of...Something big, something crazy...Our best days are yet unknown...That this moment is ours to own...'Cause we're standing on the edge of great”. In the end, I liked the rainbow neon heart the most because it felt like it connected with lyrics “Shout, shout...C'mon and let it out, out...Don't gotta hide it...Let your colors blind their eyes...Be who you are, no compromise” really well.

~ This cover I looked forward to as I worked on all the other ones, as I had found this art back when I was doing aesthetic/mood boards of the songs late last year. It is an amazing fit for the song and the control Caleb and his curse have over the boys as they perform it, a puppet master controlling his puppets for his own gain.

~ Finally, for this one I had between stuck between doing this flower (or weed, idek) picture or one of 3 options of ones with trees that were miraculously still standing in the middle of a lake or in a foggy field. All encapsulated the feeling of standing strong and lyrics like “Even if I'm the last standing...I'ma stand tall...I'ma stand tall” very well, but a mutual and I decided the flower best represented Julie and the incredible strength/bravery she showcased going up on that stage and performing without the boys. Like the flower, Julie was persevering and deciding even without her band, her family, by her side she would “keep on going when it's all falling apart” because she’s “gotta keep on dreaming...’gotta catch that feeling" like the strong, amazing performer she is and always has been.

~ For Julie and the rest of the teens, I decided that it would be alright to age up because trying to find an exact match to their ages and looks using the resources I had was going to be practically impossible. This pic I had used for a Julie/Rose, mother-daughter mood board last year and thought it would work great here. (If i did do something wrong with this representation of Julie in regards to skin tone, let me know)

~ I had a few options for a Luke pic, including 2 that ended up being too Charlie for this post, but when I found this pic I thought this would work best. Trying to find a pic that captures his hair, the beanie, and his style while also somewhat resembling Luke is stressful and impossible without likely losing my mind in the process. So, I decided a vague resemblance would work and decided to use my artistic license to say this is how I am choosing to represent our ghost himbo leading singer. The beanie felt right and not having the person’s whole face visible allowed for use of the imagination and for that air of mystery Luke aims to give off. 

Logo: I made a special logo for Luke of his initials in the same font as I used for them in the PH cover logo, but for this logo decided to put them atop a journal to represent the one he writes all his songs in and holds as sacred and many times off-limits to others      

~ For Alex, I also had a hard time finding a close enough match that worked to represent him through hair, clothing, or even stature. I ended up finding this pic, of an actor from Outer Banks I believe, that seemed to fit the Alex vibe well enough to me, despite not have any of those matching clothing items or a perfect match for hairstyle. 

Logo: For this one I went with the expected, default fanny pack with his initials on it because there wasn’t quite any other sticker options on the site I use for these that screamed Alex and the fanny pack is intrinsic to his character (and we love it)

~ Now for Reggie, I was able to find a pic that had both his look and allowed for him to have an instrument, even if I couldn’t for the other 2 himbos. It’s a pic of a member of The Neighbourhood performing and the leather jacket/white shirt, hair, and what I believe is a bass guitar fit with Reggie so well. I had 2 options of pics of this band member from 2 angles, but ended up deciding this one looked best. 

Logo: A cowboy on a horse to represent Reggie and his country music career dreams, plus ‘Home Is Where My Horse Is’, with his initials in a fitting font over it  

~ While I was hesitant to use a pic of 2 girls on the ‘Flying Solo’ cover in an attempt to not unintentionally represent Madi and Jadah’s skin tones wrong, for this one just aiming to represent Flynn by herself I did my best to find a pic of a girl that not only got Flynn’s hair as we see it in the show represented but also had a close match to her/Jadah’s skin tone. Here’s to hoping I did her justice (but if I still did do something wrong with this representation of Flynn in those regards, let me know)! I thought the outfit, while not as eclectic as Flynn’s on the show, worked well for a casual look for Flynn in like Senior year of high school or even college, since the pics age all these characters up a bit. 

Logo: For the logo I went with a turntable sticker and Flynn’s initials, including letters for ‘no last name’ as people have used for her in post tags, until we learn of a last name for her hopefully in the future

~ While looking for neon sign pics for other CD covers in this post set I came across many with people in them, a handful that also would have worked for Carrie, before finding this one among them. I loved the neon glow off the girl and the close match, as far as I can tell in the lighting, to Carrie/Savannah’s strawberry blonde hair. The outfit, similar to Flynn’s, works for end of high school or during college, where Carrie might dress in toned down versions of her usual style, we see her in during the show. The piercing and more carefree demeanor being effects of her letting go of the image she hid behind in HS and becoming a more authentic Carrie. 

Logo: I chose to put her initials over a diamond both because I wanted to use a diamond like I almost did for the pic in the ‘WOW’ cover and because of the diamond’s symbolism of things like strength/power, creativity, and balance/clarity

~ Finally, for Caleb I had originally had a sepia colored picture of a magician looking guy in a top hat looking out onto the ocean or some body of water with his back to the camera...then I found this one. My mutual, who has been helping me with this post set, and I nicknamed him ‘Sexy Caleb’! He just gives off that suave, over-the-top magician vibe that is kinda Caleb’s thing. Since the rest of the characters were merely resemblance pics of the characters, I thought why not just go that route with Caleb’s and have fun with it. This was the result and I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I do! 

Logo: Went with the default sticker of a top hat for Caleb’s logo because it just works so well to represent him and the added initials on it almost look like goggles, like he wears in the very last scene of the season

I was briefly using NutriSystem, which didn't work for me. I hated too much of the food. More recently I stuck with flexible dieting and calorie counting for a while, but I drifted from it when I still lost no fucking weight in like a month. I want to get back to it, though... oh, and intermittent fasting. I don't think it really worked for me yet again, even though I did it correctly, but that and the aforementioned flexible dieting is all I feel like I can handle. Too many people I know have had it or had someone they loved die because of it. Take this shit seriously. I got a new chromebook which is legit one of the best investments I’ve made in quite a while. One problem, I don’t remember my newer tumblr password and email I had set up for my happy new account. So I am stuck here with an older tumblr I made years upon years ago. I was browsing through some of the archive posts and ugh was I whiny little pain in the butt complaining about such stupid things. Anyways! I thought it might be kinda fun perhaps to do a survey that I did in 2013, yes 2013 oh my that seems ages ago. My plan is to have my original answer on top followed by the 2019 answer below it. Because why not? Here we go!

1: Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? The closet must be closed! Still closed please.

2: Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel? Sometimes. Not as often as I used, because I honestly don’t ever use it. lol

3: Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out? Out? In because that’s how Dan likes it. 

4: Have you ever stolen a street sign before? No. Nope. 

5: Do you like to use post-it notes? Sometimes. Sure, I leave Dan random notes in the morning if I wake up first. 

6: Do you cut out coupons but then never use them? I get coupons but sometimes I don't use them. Haha my above answer tells me two things I wasn’t worried about money in 2013 and I didn’t probably understand the question. So yeah, sometimes that will happen when they expire before I get the chance to use them.

7: Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of a bees? Neither sound great so I guess a big bear sounds more interesting. I’ll agree with my 2013 answer. 

8: Do you have freckles? I have some. Last I checked I am the same girl, so I have some. 

9: Do you always smile for pictures? Usually. Sure, unless I am being told otherwise. 

10: What is your biggest pet peeve? I have two major ones, people snapping gum and not messaging someone back. Snapping gum is still up there and people slurping soup obnoxiously. 

11: Do you ever count your steps when you walk? Not really. Um not physically, but my phone does. Thanks Google Fit!

12: Have you ever peed in the woods? Nope. Still no.

13: What about pooped in the woods? Again nope. Still no lol.

14: Do you ever dance even if there’s no music playing? Yeah. Of course!

15: Do you chew your pens and pencils? Not usually, but sometimes I'll chew on a pen. Still sometimes I will chew a pen.

20: Do you still watch cartoons? I don’t really watch a lot of TV. Nope. 

21: Whats your least favorite movie? I am not really big on the Hunger Games. Still accurate or scary movies would be an accurate answer. 

22: Where would you bury hidden treasure if you had some? Wait…why would I want to bury hidden treasure. Dan’s safe?

23: If you’re a girl, bra size? If you’re a guy, pants size? 34 B 32-34 B depends on the bra. lol

24: What do you dip a chicken nugget in? Plain or honey mustard. I like those previous answers, but I do sometimes like BBQ. 

25: What is your favorite food? Some type of chicken with a bread coating. Chicken and dumplings from Cracker Barrel with carrots and green beans! 

26: What movies could you watch over and over and still love? Love and Other Drugs, Crazy Stupid Love, Easy A, Something Borrowed. So chick flicks I guess. Crazy Stupid Love is still in my top favorite movies ever. 

27: Last person you kissed/kissed you? Jeffrey. Eww I am sorry 2013 Christina that sucks. Anyways, Dan!

28: Were you ever a boy/girl scout? I was girl scout back in the day. Still a true statement.

TRIGGER WARNING FOR BODY/FAT SHAMING & SEXUAL ASSAULT:  josie’s curves developed faster than other girls her age, so even in like 6th grade ppl were calling her rlly ugly names because her hips had grown and saying things about her, even going as far as slut shaming and oversexualizing her developing body like gross. around this time someone she thought was a friend would repeatedly touch her without her permission (also she was like 13 and knew absolutely no better than ‘uh he’s my pal so i guess it’s alright if he touches between my legs when i dont want him to). it rlly tore her down and she felt like she was nothing. that low self esteem rlly followed her into high school. the bullying kinda morphed more into unwanted glares from boys, girls calling her a sl*t, and ppl just being generally mean because of her body shape. her sophomore year she tried out for the jv cheerleading squad bc she really just wanted to be involved and have school spirit, plus she had a friend who was doing it. things were rad, she made the team, all was good, she rlly liked it and even wanted to go out for varsity the next year. junior year came around and she was on jv again, but their coach ended up quitting so the trainer stepped in. he was nice to all the girls bc he’d known them and was working with them but rlly this was just grooming tbh, like he kinda made it seem like he was hte only one in their corner if they were having problems. she got a weird feeling from him but folks were just kinda like “eh you’re over-reacting, it was just a hug” but when they went away to cheer camp it was like damn what a change. he got a little bit violent and ut was just generally a Not Fun experience, like yelling at the girls and embarrassing them to the point where other coaches and such were like “uh he needs to chill tf out”. to make everything worse one of the nights he knocked on the door of the room josie was staying in, saying he wanted to talk to her, she let him in and long story short he got handsy. when she told school authorities what happened, it was her word against his, but after testimony from teammates about his behavior at camp and everything, the school gave him an ultimatum: resign or be fired and go to court.. lmao guess which he took. so basically he got away with molesting her and being an abusive bag of dicks. for a long time she blamed herself bc she thought she was too naive or maybe if she hadn’t opened the door, or it was all her fault and she let it happen. sometimes she still has self doubt moments where she thinks about “but what if....” or she says “at least it wasn’t as bad as...” she’s very passionate about the metoo movement tho, and abusers being held accountable for their actions (no matter their gender or sexuality)

since cheer was like “aha nop never again” senior year she got involved in the drama club. she’d sang in church choir before, but nothing Super Serious. but the fall production of grease really caught her eye, so, she auditioned and voila, Sandy. 

after graduation, she started community college in musical theater, still working at the bakery but she fuckin wanted to leave florida (dont... we all??) so she used the money she saved from the bakery, bought a one way bus ticket, and ended up in austin texas... not exactly where she wanted to be, but it was out of florida.

she started singing at bars and trying to get involved with local small theater productions/companies, but that really just was not cutting it. so she asked her dad for some moolah and she moved to los angeles. for a long time she lived in a very very shitty apartment complex (if u rememerbr YEARS ago there was a show on the cw called the complex... it was about struggling young actors/musicians living in one place.. lowkey it was good but it got cancelled before season 2 wow shocker amirite) her agent was kinda bad, like joey’s from friends, but the one thing he got right was booking her an audition for a new girl group that a label was putting together. and boom, ethereal.

AS for the vegas thing lmAO.... i’ve been feeling like it was kind of recent. like, ethereal had already formed or was right at the beginning of the four girls coming together. (i still gotta work out those kinks) but essentially she went to vegas and on a Wild night, married a stranger. all she remembers from the memory clips are they met at the casino, there’s a chapel, back in her hotel room, a charge on her credit card for the honeymoon room service package, and the next morning she woke up alone in bed with a huge fuckin headache and a cheap ring on her finger. she was 22 and dumb. but aint we all?? she’s still technically married, but does NOT wear a ring or talk at all about having a husband because she doesnt know the dude. like literally can’t find him lmao, can’t find him to get that shit annulled or file for divorce. therefore, technically married.

Endicott Football Player Determined to Make Music Passion a Career

Zach DeNike is an Endicott senior from Old Tappan, New Jersey. He played football at Endicott all four years of his college career as a wide receiver and punt returner. DeNike amassed 117 catches across 37 games in his college career, scoring eight touchdowns. Standing at 5’8’’ and weighing in at 175 pounds, it’s easy to understand who he looks up to on the gridiron.

DeNike, a liberal studies major, is far more than just a football player. He’s had a passion for music his whole life, and has started pursuing it as a career in college. DeNike has his own YouTube page, which contains two music videos that he’s starred in within the past year.

DeNike is a determined individual. He has battled through injuries to continue playing the game he loves, and his decision to skip a traditional rite of passage event back in high school to suit up one last time shows he is committed to carving out his own path.

Music is a competitive industry, but DeNike is driven to chase his dream of working in the field, whether it’s as a recording artist or something else. We talked about a valuable internship opportunity that he experienced in NYC, and how he endeavors to create similar chances for himself in the future to create a bigger name for himself.

Why was Endicott the choice for you? What other schools recruited you?

The recruiting process was kind of stressful for me. I ended up getting some D1 offers (Wagner) towards the end, right before signing day, (but) it just didn’t feel right when I went on the visit there. When I came here, something kept bringing me back. (It felt) like a family atmosphere and I loved the campus, everything about it, the academics. Everyone about the team was really cool when I went on my visit. The coaching staff was pretty relatable; they’re all young guys. Everyone was open when I came. The guy I stayed with offered to let me sleep on his bed. I went to a few classes and I pictured myself coming here more than any other school. I don’t regret (the decision of going D3 at Endicott) at all, I love everyone on my team, the coaching staff and the school. I live on the beach this year, waking up and looking out my window seeing the ocean and hearing the ocean before I go to bed, it’s awesome. Not many kids can say that.

What is the most memorable play, game or accomplishment in your football career so far?

In HS I had the opportunity to play at MetLife stadium in my state championship game; that was a dream come true. This year we had that comeback against Bridgewater State; it was unreal. It’s like the Patriots, you can’t ever give up until the clock hits zero. That HS team went 12-0 and a bunch of us got asked to play in the Bergen County All-Star game, which is the North vs. South Jersey football game. I ended up winning MVP of that game for the offense. I was the only member of my team that ended up playing in that game because it was on prom (night). Most of them wanted to be with their girlfriend, but I wanted to play one more HS game.

Is there a professional football player you look up to or perhaps model your game after?

Julian Edelman for sure. I’m a NY fan, but Edelman is my idol. Short, versatile.

I noticed on your bio that you’re a Liberal Studies major. What type of career aspirations do you have?

I made my own major through that, it’s music performance and songwriting. I did my internship at Premier Studios this summer, got to work with DJ Khaled, Steve Aoki, Young Thug, Nick Cannon, all these big names. I recorded with Kesha’s producer and wrote a song with her. Awesome experience. My mom was really good friends with someone well known in the industry; she made a few phone calls for me and set it up. It’s pretty difficult to get an internship at a recording studio. I hope to be a singer-songwriter one day. I’m writing my own album right now. It’s going pretty well. It’s tough to balance it with football and school right now. Whenever I have free time I’m always coming up with ideas and playing music and collaborating with people. Someone on our team last year, Jesse Bonner, he’s good at producing music and making beats. I’m working with him. My brother has been helping me out a lot; he’s good with the software (GarageBand).

Punt returner and slot receiver is a particularly dangerous position given the many hard hits they take over the middle of the field. Have you ever been seriously injured playing football?

No serious injuries, knock on wood. I’ve missed the last two games with a concussion. I’m feeling good, ready to go, this week is gonna be my first game back. I had two (concussions) in HS. They weren’t too serious. Once you get the concussion, you have to wait until all your symptoms are at zero. Once that happens, you can start going back to class and start exercising again. You need seven days of exercising with no symptoms and no setbacks, and then you’re ready to go.

What are your thoughts on the reports of concussion severity and CTE among professional football players? Is it something you’re worried about for your own health?

It’s in my head a little bit, I’m definitely thinking about it a little bit but I try not to think about it too much and just try to focus on the game and what’s in friend of me right then. My family, they just want me to be safe, make sure I’m not going out there to just play a game and not worry about my head. I gotta worry about the years to come, the next 40-50 years of my life.

Does your talent for music relate to your football career at all? Maybe I’m reaching here, but is reading a defense as a punt returner and slot receiver at all similar to reading a sheet of music?

I would say yeah in certain aspects of the game. When I’m returning punts, I kind of relate it because you need to get in a rhythm. If one thing’s off then the return is not gonna be too great. When you’re playing music it becomes frustrating when you don’t get into that rhythm, or if you’re writing a song, if you don’t have that rhythm going then you can get writer’s block.

On your bio it says you play seven instruments, can you list those for me? Which one are you best at and which is your favorite instrument?

Guitar, piano, mandolin, ukelele, drums and I sing so I guess six if you include singing. My favorite is guitar, it comes easy to me. I have a good ear for music. I never really read music up until college; I’m learning right now. I’m learning about music theory and stuff. Usually when I hear a song I can figure it out and play it right away. (I started playing guitar in) fourth grade.

I’m particularly curious about your internship at Premier Recording Studio in NYC. What was that like?

I was around a lot of big names, got a lot of awesome contacts. The producer that I worked with on the last few days of my internship, he put me in contact with somebody named Steve Migliore who has put a bunch of different artists on the BillBoard Top 100. I’ve sent him some of my songs, a few covers I’ve done since I haven’t copyrighted any of the original music that I’ve done yet so I don’t want to send it out and have it get stolen or anything. The music industry, you don’t know who you can really trust. Once I finish album and get it copyrighted, I’m gonna send it to him. He really likes my voice, what I can do. I know as far as the producer that I worked with, he loved me. I literally sat down and wrote a song with him and this Australian girl that he was working with. I wrote all the lyrics for her and they featured me in the song too. I normally write about what’s going on in my life at the time whether it’s girl issues or family issues. My favorite song I wrote down by the beach last year about the waves. It’s about how life goes up and down sometimes but you just gotta keep pushing through. I’m not really sure when I’m going release the whole album. Hopefully I’ll release one of the songs as a single within the next two months. (Without this internship) I’d probably do it like most artists get started, just go on YouTube, throw up some covers and maybe just put stuff on SoundCloud. Now that I have all these connections, it’s a quicker way for me to get into the industry. The hours were crazy. I would work from like 9AM-730PM, get a day off and then work 730PM-9AM. Overnight, into the morning. Sometimes they would need me to stay longer. I started out cleaning the studio and then going out on runs, getting pizza for all the artists. In my free time I would start singing, and then people would hear me and were impressed. I started to sit in on different sessions, help out the sound engineers by setting up the microphones. I learned a lot about the different softwares and pro tools that they used. I took a class last semester called Intro to Studio Production; without that class I would have been lost in the studio. At Endicott, they have a recording studio with the same exact sound boards, and I already had an intro with how to use it.

I plan to work at another recording studio in the future to get some more experience and meet some more people, maybe out in California.

What musicians do you look up to?

I love John Mayer, Maroon 5, Adam Levine is one of my favorite singers. I love Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead, the Beatles. I love every genre of music, I’m open to everything. It helps me as a performer.

I see that you worked with the Open Hearts Open Homes Project in the past. What is that group about and what did your involvement consist of?

We sponsored an Israeli child whose life had been affected by terrorism. He stayed with us for three weeks in the summer when I was pretty young. I might’ve been like eight years old. We fell in love with him, he’s our family. He and his grandpa were going into a market when he saw his friend, and he went to meet up with him. Then, his grandpa ended up getting killed by a suicide bomber. Originally, it was only supposed to be a three-week thing where they would go to a camp during the day and do some overnights at Great Adventure. Fun stuff for the summer. But a war broke out, and my family (myself, mom, brother) said we can’t let these kids go back after they’ve had all this fun so we raised all this money very quickly and it gave them the opportunity to stay another three weeks. Ever since he’s been coming back every year, he’s like a brother to me. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Music runs in my family. My mom told me that my grandpa could sit down and play any instrument, didn’t read music kinda like me and if he heard something he’d be able to play it, write a song in like ten minutes. My dad is a good singer, it’s always been a part of my family and a huge part of my life.
