when fics give lwj an attitude. love that. a sadly underutilized canon personality trait
#with wwx there are so many dimensions to him that it could be really hard to write him without ignoring at least one of them#hes just brimming with strongcharacterization and personality#that lwj is by comparison a lot less complex. but he does have ignored charcter traits too#he does have a dry sense of humor and he does have his moments of recklessness even postres#and i like it when authors get a dynamic when they're on equal footing like in canon#and let lwj be a little spicy without making him weird or agressive or w/e#and in any version of the story theres a point made that he looks boring and uptight but is in fact a little wild#in the novel its super homophobic but as a trait in cql you see it too and i always liked that#also its just hard to general to find a fic that writes the dialogue the way the subs sound#its a certain pattern of speech that is very distinct for being translated from mandarin and in this genre#which is why its almost easier to read modern aus bc you dont expect them to speak like that#this isn't in reference to anything specific btw im just like damn i like when people let lwj be sarcastic and on a level w wwx#that makes it clear they're partners#i wish there was more in canon of them goofing off but pre nightless lwj is not there yet and everything is super serious#postres we get some but not as much as i wanted to see. and not much banter. sigh#cql txp
