#qui-gon/obi-wan#star wars#jedi apprentice#the defenders of the dead#rereading the jedi apprentice series just to feel something#in the first 4 books qui-gon breaks down his own barriers to let a padawan into his life and trust and heart again#but like he steadfastly refuses to show any of this to obi-wan whatsoever#obi-wan clings to the scraps of affection or pride that qui-gon shares which are few and far between#and then book 5 comes along and obi-wan experiences easy acceptance and open affection from someone else and he latches onto it with a deat#and qui-gon realizes he's losing obi-wan and it's literally all his fault#this book is the turning point in their relationship and i love it#it gets so good after this#don't mind me rereading YA star wars books bc they have the best depiction of qui-gon and obi-wan's relationship
