Honestly, the Johnlock AU that just plopped itself full-formed into my imagination is Something.
#sherlock#johnlock#johnlock au#there's a case#of course there's a case#lestrade tricked sherlock into going undercover#sherlock contented himself with the knowledge that baking is simply applied chemistry but had no clue about the three year old aspect#john is adoptive father to an afghani war orphan#she speaks very little english#sherlock somehow works this out (being sherlock) and though his pashto is rudimentary at best he truly listens to her#it turns out laila really likes cutting things up just so and the smile sherlock gives her when she does a surprisingly good job of it#makes her light up#meanwhile john is waiting in the wings#slowly but surely falling in love with this madman#in the end they lose the finale because sherlock indulges laila's unique choice of ingredients#which he secretly loves#there may or may not be an italicized-oh moment along the way#(spoilers: it's 'may')#also the baddie is nabbed etc etc but we all know that was never the real point of this all#and they lived happily ever after to the end of their days
