Controversial opinion but like…Uchiha Itachi was definitely a villain.
#he’s a hero in the way that Pein was a hero#and Madara#and Obito#in that they had noble intentions but made everything 1000x worse#also like in what world is he was ordered to an acceptable excuse#don’t get me wrong he’s a fantastic character and phenomenal representation of what’s wrong with the ninja mindset#but let’s be honest he’s not winning any altruism awards#I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again he’s the Illumi of the Naruto verse#the plot twist wasn’t oh hey he’s not actually a villain he’s a hero#the plot twist was hey Konoha is way more corrupt than anyone thought#naruto
