STILL on my Ouran hyperfixation and let me rant about something I hate SO MUCH about the filler episodes at the end that have nothing to do with that girl they added and that's them having Kyoya's dad slap him.

Kyoya's canon father is actually chill as hell, he really doesn't give a fuck about much as long as he's succeeding and like that's cool and whatever. He literally helps out Tamaki's dad to heal Tamaki's mom?! Just 'cause their sons are close?!

But no, NO, the anime has him do something so vile and cruel and just tries to brush it off as him being stressed and taking it out on Kyoya like WHOSE MAN IS THIS?! THIS IS NOT KYOYA'S DAD! HE WOULD NEVERRRRRR.

Even in the bonus chapter at the end of the series when they all go to Spain and the Host Club members are fucking around and causing chaos the man is literally just chilling and drinking his coffee/tea and minding his business waiting to see how things go and says NOTHING, does NOTHING, he does not care. He trusts in Kyoya and his friends to handle the situation in a way he knew he could (which is literally why he told him to go in the first place) and like, how did the anime at any point think that just 'cause they didn't have too much info on him as a person they could just depict any of the members parents as physically abusive?! And why Kyoya's dad of all people? Just 'cause he's not as silly as Tamaki's or Haruhi's dads are? They also depict Hunny's dad as willing to fight him but even then that was a martial arts match and Hunny kicked HIS butt, not the other way around...(they also don't show it since the whole story is told by the twins and is so exaggerated that it's pretty much implied the story isn't real to begin with).

None of the members' parents are bad people. The whole end of the series even goes out of its way to humanize and 'redeem' the only unlikable person in the whole series and that was Tamaki's grandmother.

I just hate it so much, every time I rewatch the anime and I get to those final episodes I'm always so sad because they just go so far off the rails of what makes the manga actually so good and I truly pray that one day we get a reboot that does the series justice...I need it for my soul at this point.
