Twenty One Pilots recommendations?

ILOVE YOU im kind bad at recommendations because i think its different for everyone and im really pretentious about it. clancy i think is a great starting point in general you get a good introduction to their stuff and a little bit of a mix of their lyrics and sounds. <-thats most important everything under the read more is supplementary and also putting im my personal favorites in the tags

in terms of songs like im such a pick a random one and hope i like it kind of person so im really bad at specific songs. if you like lyrics a lot implicit demand for proof, ode to sleep, truce, oldies station, addict with a pen, the pantaloon, march to the see, TAXI CAB, next semester, and fake you out are some great ones. you like a good scream then ruby or goner.

and in terms of albums if u enjoy a heavy 2015 aura in your music blurryface is great for that. if you like a vague 2013 aura in your music vessel is great for that. if you like a more mainstream/polished sound you might like trench or scaled and icy (dont let any1 tell u she's bad okay dont listen to them). if you like some more experimental(?) rock stuff reminicent of some 2000s rock their self titled is good. and if you really enjoy a less polished sound but something maybe more interesting then regional at best

ik the post says two songs but which album, in your opinion, has the best opening song?

ok so i know you didn’t ask for this BUT i thought it’d be interesting to rank all the 21p album opening songs! no lie this took me FOREVER, i literally thought about it every day and i’m still not too sure about my list (i feel like my opinion changes daily) but i was tired of sitting on this ask. this isn’t necessarily a ranking of how good the songs are, it’s more about how well they serve their purpose as an opening track and introducing us to the album to come. so without further ado:

1. heavydirtysoul: absolutely ICONIC - completely sets the tone for blurryface. incredible groundbreaking breathtaking perfection magnificence (i could go on and on...) also the fairly local/hds opening during the bf shows is still by far my favorite thing the pilots have ever done during a live show. hds is just iconic, there’s no better word to describe it

2. implicit demand for proof: i really felt weird about placing implicit demand this high, esp when there are objectively better songs on this list, but in terms of an opening track? it’s incredible. it really really sets the mood for self titled so well with the lone piano in the beginning to the swell with tyler screaming in the end. also gotdamn what an amazing title for a song

3. jumpsuit: honestly if i didn’t love trench era so much jumpsuit would be WAY further down on this list :P don’t get me wrong, i love jumpsuit a lot, but i’ve realized that most of my opinions on it are based on the clancy letters and the mv and how THEY did an amazing job of introducing us to the world of dema and trench. jumpsuit the song isn’t as strong by itself imo. although, the transition between jumpsuit and levitate is perfect and then we get the “welcome to trench” line in levitate..i think THAT’S the perfect opening moment to the album but that’s more levitate’s contribution than jumpsuit’s

4. ode to sleep: ok i was this 👌 close to putting ode to sleep last below good day, but i felt really bad about it and gave it another listen (idt i’ve listened to vessel in well over a year oof), and i’ve decided to bump it up to fourth. if jumpsuit didn’t have all the extra lore stuff boosting it, ode to sleep would’ve easily been third. honestly i love ode to sleep so much (seeing it during ers changed me forever) but i personally just don’t listen to vessel enough to have strong feelings about it. I think it’s a stellar song in its own right, but as an opening track? idk if i have much of an opinion

5. good day: oh good day my beloved <3 this song is such a fun way to start the album. especially with the ambient sounds (or whatever they’re called) at the beginning. it’s so different from the rest of the pilots’ opening tracks and i love it for that. good day is an incredible opening song. but for scaled and icy specifically?? i listen to sai in reverse order a lot and it always feels oddly right to end on good day. idk i’ve always felt that no chances might’ve been stronger as the first track. although maybe that would’ve been too on the nose with the sai is propaganda dema is back thing...
