Tumblr media
On September 9th, 2016, between 20,000 and 60,000 prisoners participated in the largest incarcerated labor strike in American history. The gulf between these two figures, which is 40,000 loud, reflects the unknown conditions of incarcerated experiences. While this action could not have happened without communication within, between, and outside of the prisons involved, such communication is made difficult by the economic and punitive structures that silent prison social networks. This site chronicles the networks that emerged online as prisoners organized for better working and living conditions, focusing in particular on the strike at Michigan’s Kinross Correctional Facility. Ultimately, it suggests that incarcerated communities fill the gaps created by the punitive system in communication and knowledge by reasserting an informal memory of prison resistance, a memory that is expressed as a common heritage with non-incarcerated communities through online social networks.
Tumblr media
Image of a Kinross bathroom after riot police violent suppressed the uprising
Integral to organized resistance is effective communication among participants. The American prison system makes communication among incarcerated people and with those on the outside challenging. One way this is achieved is through a privatized phone and email system. Prisons seek out communication companies that will provide the largest “kickbacks.” Instead of offering the most affordable service possible for prisoners, companies are rewarded for charging high prices, which can be as much as 90% of a contract’s value.
Tumblr media
Mignon Clyburn, an official at the Federal Communications Commission, refers to this system as, “The greatest, most distressing type of injustice I have ever seen in the communications sector.” In total, the American prison phone industry is worth 1.2 billion dollars. These high costs affect prisoners greatly, who can spend on average $17 for a 15-minute phone call. Keep in mind, too, that prisoners make from $0.86 to $3.45 per day.
Tumblr media
Emails can also be costly to prisoners. Michigan’s Kinross Correctional Facility, for instance, uses a stamp system that charges $0.25 per email “page.”
While these high prices limit prisoners’ ability to communicate with the unincarcerated world, they are not the only barrier. The services themselves are faulty and difficult to navigate. Incarcerated people do not have the option of leaving Yelp reviews for GTL, the largest prison communications service. However, people on the outside trying to contact them do. Below are some recent reviews of the company:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I include such a long list of negative reviews from across the country to illustrate the GTL’s consistent problems. Such widespread technical errors and hidden fees frequently delay or prevent prisoners from receiving an email or phone call. While it is possible that this is just benign incompetence on GTL’s part, it seems more likely that this is a predatory system that profits off of silenced “consumers.”
The communications system in American prisons reflects and reinforces the obstacles prisoners face when organizing for change. Systemic change requires large, well-organized resistance movements. Much of the organizing for such movements relies on social media. This is reflected in the hashtags present in movements like #BlackLivesMatter, #ArabSpring, and #MeToo, which all used social media, not only to communicate among protestors, but also to broadcast the unjust conditions that make such movements necessary. Prisoners cannot livestream when prison guards use violence against them, when their living conditions are inhumane, or when the carceral bureaucratic system acts unjustly. This lack of visibility creates a lack of accountability in prisons. It is only in extreme instances where abuse of power is made visible. And even then, there is rarely recourse for the victims.
Tumblr media
Darren Rainey
For instance, in 2012, Florida prisoner Darren Rainey was murdered by prison guards, who locked him in a hot shower for two hours. The officers, who had external control over the temperature, forced Rainey to stay in the shower as they turned the water to its highest heat setting--180°F. Images of Rainey’s body, which I won’t display here but which can be found online, show that large strips of skin on his back and legs had been burned off. After Rainey’s death, the officers involved argued that the death was accidental and unexplained. The case was then classified, and the DOC ultimately promoted the guards. However, when The Miami Herald made a visit to the prison to investigate, they heard testimony from other prisoners that officers often used this form of punishment on prisoners, citing at least eight incidents in Rainey’s unit alone. Without outside interest in the events of incarcerated experiences, these stories do not get told, as prison employees and administrators cannot be trusted to admit their own wrongdoing, and prisoners have limited ability to speak out.
For this reason, the prison abolition’s presence on social media is significant. It is through social media that I first became invested in prison abolition and reform. Neither I nor my friends have many people close to us who are incarcerated. However, the past decade has seen a resurgence of the prison abolition movement. Thinkers like Angela Davis, Michelle Alexander, and Ava DuVernay are a part of an abolitionist heritage that situates prison injustice, not as marginal to America’s systemic inequality, but as fundamental to it.
Tumblr media

On my Facebook feed, I saw friends and acquaintances using social media to communicate about prison reform and to facilitate community action. Below are images of this community response, with the names of users kept hidden for privacy.
Tumblr media
In this post, a user identifies a relationship between climate and prison justice.
Tumblr media
This post from 2018 shows a user tracking a weeks-long protest in a Canadian prison, which she suggests is tied to American economic and civil justice.
Tumblr media
Posters using Facebook as a call to action to support an incarcerated woman. This text begins with a demand to free Cyntoia, offers contact information, and information about her case in one image. Note that seven people shared the image, and others engaged asking clarifying questions. The use of heart emojis and reactions (15 total) suggests a sense of community with Cyntoia Jackson, that the Tennessee prisoner is a part of a larger collective.
Here, a Facebook event is made to facilitate an action. Note the sense of solidarity and community in the image--hand prints and the words “Until we are all free None of us are free.”
Tumblr media
Here, information about the events of the Kinross prisoner strike are shared and tied with an action to call-in.
This image from 2016 reflects a similar sentiment, with the hashtag #UntilAllAreFree and shows a photo of a Kinross prisoner. Note that the image has three shares and that the reacts are angry and sad emojis. I wonder if the directness of this post and its lack of narrative invites more angry/sad emojis than feelings of communal love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here, people use the comment section to update each other on the phone calls they made. Note the user who says, “I’m relatively new to Michigan...but I’ll call at eight & tell my friends to do the same!” This reaction illustrates the sense of solidarity non-incarcerated people feel with incarcerated struggles, even when they are not from the region where the struggle takes place. Also, note the heart sticker, which again suggests a sense of communal bonds.
Tumblr media
A French user posts in solidarity with an American prison movement.
Finally, I’d like to examine the role of memory in prison resistance and in the Kinross uprising. In particular, the Attica prison uprising is invoked often as a symbol of resistance and as a reminder of the need to continue fighting. Note the post below, which references the movement, saying, “We remember #Attica!”
Tumblr media
The Attica prison uprising was a 1971 movement in a New York prison. After prison guards killed George Jackson at the San Quentin State Prison, over 1,000 Attica Prison inmates seized control of their facility, taking 42 staff hostage.
Tumblr media
Image from the Attica uprising
Riot police were brought in, and after four days of protests, the 28 of the rioters’ demands were met. However, the riot also resulted in 48 deaths, 33 of which were inmates.
Tumblr media
Many articles and social media posts commenting on modern resistance movements reference this uprising, using terms like “remembering” and “looking back” in order to understand emerging movements. Two years after the Kinross protest. Note the “We remember #Attica!” comment above.
A 2018 radio podcast by Rustbelt Abolition Radio uses this terminology to frame its interview with participants in the Kinross labor stoppage (link below).
(via Specters of Attica: Reflections from Inside a Michigan Prison Strike)
In the interview, prisoner Ajhamu Barati explains how and why he participated in the labor strike. Throughout the interview, he identifies the need to read about the past in order to take effective action in the future. The interviewer comments that he often quotes George Jackson, the prisoner whose death sparked the Attica uprising.
Tumblr media
To me, this referencing to the past is necessary in the wake of systemic silencing of prison narratives. There seems to be a need to remember what has happened, as the prison-industrial system suppresses communication and asks us to forget the deaths of people like Darren Rainey. In the Rustbelt interview, Barati explains that, “The whole thing is about control: control your movement, control of what you received in here. Because I just received a paper from the San Francisco black national paper and they were talking about the Million Prisoner March that (just) happened August 19th, in Washington D.C. about the human rights and they rejected it. And I asked the counselor about why did you reject it, is that advocating violence? And she just said because it’s speaking about human rights and the conditions of prisoners here. So any time you talk about prisoner conditions, they don’t want the prisons to hear that, they don’t want that kind of news to come in here.”
Tumblr media
While this silencing created within prisons is disheartening, the living memory forged through people like Barati can challenge that silence. That his sentiments and experiences are echoed by non-incarcerated people through social media suggests that the slow-moving, deep-rooted knowledge of incarcerated memory tied with the speed and interconnectedness of social networking is perhaps forging a shared heritage of resistance. Barati’s closing comments, though not expressed through the language of emoji and reposting of Facebook, iterate the same feeling. He says, “If you control a man’s thoughts, you don’t have to worry about his actions. And we in a psychological warfare so brothers got to start getting a political consciousness they gotta read, they gotta read, and broaden our awareness. Solidarity and love out there to everyone.” While the gaps in communication and knowledge created by the prison system may seek to obscure the oppression experienced by prisoners, it may be through those gaps that memory and resistance persist.

Can you rec some good horror on Netflix?
VERY good question that would be a challenge for me. now for reference i haven't used netflix often for my horror fix - i have shudder now, and my mom's prime account if i wanna watch some fun dumb shit (escape from cannibal farm is NOT dumb shit that's straight up unrecognized art it's on youtube!!), so i'm really rusty on netflix recs.
also taking a look at the horror offerings on netflix, i feel like some of the movies i enjoyed before aren’t there anymore? boo. anyways a lot of this is based off old memories rather than something diligently curated, and certainly not overly thorough.
additional caveat that like yeah i offer additional content warnings as needed, i'm not exactly fussed about violence and gore and don't consider it a necessary warning for horror but rather part and parcel. also, not really sure what your taste in horror, if you like something cerebral or campy or whatever. so it's a hodgepodge in here.
lastly, i'm gonna split this between general horror movies that were probably released in theater or something, and netflix originals (which tend to be nicely produced but struggle a bit more with quality, but they may be enjoyable nonetheless). also gonna try and avoid the obvious available horror classics like the thing. also i'm using canadian netflix which tends to have a shitty library but what can ye do.
general
apostle has some great cinematography, religious horror, blood :) one of the good omens guys is in it if that’s a selling point.
polaroid, i actually literally don't remember anything about it but i watched it cuz it reminded me of the goosebumps books that i summarily plagiarized in elementary school. so there's a fondness there.
roger corman presents splatter. this one's really short, and it's not GOOD but it's some nice schlocky c-movie throwback and that's what matters. it was originally some video series were watchers got to vote on who dies next, i think? anyways tony todd is in it.
creep and creep 2 are also probably well known but they're soooo good i love them. cw for discussions of sexual assault, and also a significant point of these movies is to make you feel as uncomfortable as hard as possible.
i remember enjoying the possession of hannah grace? can’t remember why though.
hope a tv show is okay. FIRST THREE SEASONS OF SLASHER BABY. i'm the only person who loves slasher. we got violence, gore, clumsy attempts at social commentary, and the fact that like 90% of all the characters at anytime are fucking unbearable. it was made for me. there’s a fourth season that was done by shudder, but isn’t on canadian shudder despite it being a fuckin canadian show, fuckin disgraceful.
is terrifier still on netflix. don't watch terrifier i'd feel bad if you do. i watched it and liked it, but i would feel really bad if you watched it.
netflix originals
the ritual is actually pretty popular i think, plot’s about things like grief and guilt, but the most important thing is that the monster when it gets revealed looks real good. difficult for movies for accomplish!
also if you loved fucked up religious horror. saint maud. that last half second? gorgeous.
i should probably give a shout out to the fear street trilogy, those were solid. not particularly scary overall but they had some good sequences (the church in the last one) and the slasher designs/concepts were good. i do have some overall criticisms - i think we should have seen some more of the slashers, i got frustrated with its tendency to infodump despite the movies coming out within a week of each other, and this may be slightly controversial but i wasn’t completely sold on the central relationship. BUT they are fun.
i am the pretty thing that lives in your house - slow paced and kinda pretentious, and kinda makes you think it would be better as a short story, but it was good nonetheless.
okay so i’m gonna put in the perfection, with a content warning for sexual abuse, but i wanna put a major caveat here. this one is stylistic and twisty and cool and features a f/f relationship, but while it’s a nice romp i remember being really uncomfortable with how the Black female lead was treated in the story.
i remember liking rattlesnake - might be my soft spot for women having to do desperate things though.
his house is ACTUALLY good very good, story of refugee couple trying to settle in england, their current struggles, and the fears / regrets / trauma that continue to haunt them.
i actually recently watched choose or die. that was fun!
hope that at least gives you a good start! if you’re looking for something more specific, lmk and i’ll see if i can hook you up.

Favourite Bands: This list would never end.... But I will say Mother Mother, Honor Society (now disbanded sadly. Great guys.), A Band of Buriers, Phantom Planet, Rooney, The Coronas
Favourite Solo Artists: MAX, Jesse Kinch (CD just dropped), and David Bowie. And my friend, Jamal Moore. (CHECK HIM OUT. He was on The Singing Bee a few seasons ago and was AMAZING. He really does sing like that in person. His voice is amazing. I grew up hearing it in the halls at school for many years.)
Song stuck in my head: Smokestacks by Layla
Last movie I watched: Dare to be Wild; an indie film NOW ON NETFLIX about a young Irish woman entering and winning the Chelsea Flower Show. Based on the true story. The love interest in it is my FC for my Sherrinford Holmes account: Tom Hughes. Highly recommend.
Last show I watched: Humans. I marathoned both seasons and am now on a fanfiction craze because THIS SHOW IS AMAZING. I didn’t think I could enjoy Colin Morgan more. But I do.
When did I create my blog: Jan 2018
What do I post: RP for Nic, The Resident gifset reblogs, and lots of random medical things I find interesting
Last thing I googled: how to measure pulse
Do you have any other blogs: ....if I listed all my blogs I would look insane. There are too many voices in my head....I don’t even remember them all. My current semi-active ones are @ladytimctravclcr (Primeval), @fieldcoordinatcr (Primeval), @nctanthca (Sherlock), @nctwilliam (Sherlock), @fangedearring (HP), @madamprcsident (Fantastic Beasts), @barnxradio (Haven), @macusaxroyalty (HP/FB) and so many others. I have a few for Broadchurch but that fandom is basically dead...
I normally log in every few days to see if anyone is around but for the FB/HP or Primeval blogs, the fandoms are small and so they don’t get to do much. Which is fine, since I am trying to keep Nic and Anthea (nctanthea) going. Sherrinford (nctwilliam) is also coming into his own currently. He is my child and I love him. A lot of them are sideblogs so it is easier to check them/group them by type.
Do you get asks: sometimes; I really like them so feel free to send them in!
Why did you choose your URL: Well ‘nurse’ because Nic is a nurse. Kind of self explanatory, and ‘conscience’ because in a lot of interviews Nic is described as the conscience of the show. She’s the moral compass and is the one that kind of talks to everyone, gauging their feelings and sometimes can talk them down from whatever crazy idea they might have ( looking at you Conrad ).
Following: nintey-one
Followers: sixty-three
Favourite colour(s): dark green or burgundy
Average hours of sleep: five
Lucky number: six
Instruments: violin, piano, and I have a cello, balalaika, guitar, and uke. The balalaika was decorative originally from my grandmother but one of my music professor friends fixed it so I could actually play it. Sadly it needs some repairs. I know one song and it is just from memory years ago. The Uke I can’t really do anything with but I want to learn. I can tune instruments by ear easily. But I don’t often have time to learn new things. My guitar I can not do much with and my cello I can figure some things out by ear. Violin and piano are the instruments I can at least BS some decent knowledge on. I can read all clefs.
What am I wearing: green trousers, a black blouse with birds by Atmosphere I picked up in Primark last year, and a blanket with a sleeping cat. ;)  [ I only specifically remember the shirt because I bought it on vacation and I love it so much. ]
How many blankets do I sleep with: as many as I can find. I like the cold but nothing beats a good blanket.
Dream job: writer; librarian
Dream Trip: I love visiting London so that is normally what I dream of when work is killing me. It is legitimately my dream trip. How I keep myself motivated from not killing coworkers. haha But I also really want to go back to NZ. I miss my NZ family.
Favourite food: chicken cordon bleu. favorite condiment is aioli. [ I LOVE IT SO MUCH. IT IS NOT REALLY A THING HERE IN THE STATES. ]
Nationality: i’m american, but when traveling I am often mistaken for Canadian or Irish. Heritage is English, Irish, and German mainly. So basically all of myself hates the rest of myself. lol
Favourite song now: Soldier by Fleurie ; heard it while looking up Becker/Jess videos on youtube and it fits them real well and her voice is just fantastic.
Tagging: Whoever hasn’t done this yet. it’s been in my drafts for around a month. Whoops.

My Top 10 Favorite Mystery Science Theater Episodes
Tumblr media
I was asked recently at my job, Christine why do you like watching bad movies? My answer was, well I like to suffer (kidding). But my true response was well ever since I was kid, I’ve watched Mystery Science Theater 3000 (or MST3K for all you non watchers). I remember every Saturday on Comedy Central or SyFy (it was first on CC but later moved to SyFy), my family would gather around the TV to see which movie Joel or Mike would rip apart this week. It was one of the few shows my family loves to watch together. Hell my first date with my boyfriend we talked about our love of this show and we’ve been watching it together ever since. That’s how much this show has been a part of my life. Now it’s coming back with new episodes on Netflix and I can’t fucking wait! My thoughts of I wonder what movies they are going to riff, I wonder if Crow still like to dress up like bear, if Tom Servo still hates Canada.
Those have never of this show, what the hell is wrong with you? (kidding again). Well the show is basically about three people (well two robots and a human) that are forced to watch bad movies, by Dr. Forrester or Pearl Forrester (depending on which season you watch). While watching the movie though, they make jokes. Yea it’s that simple. A silhouette of them is shown through out, and it makes it look like an actual movie theater watching experience.
If you have never seen the show, I couldn’t recommend this show enough. This list hopefully help you get started on you MST3K binge watch. There are almost 200 episodes of the original show, which yes it’s a lot. But this list are my personal favorite, this is how I introduce the show to people who have never seen it. Spoiler: The number one pick is the one I show everyone who want to watch this show for the first time.
This is my list, aka my personal opinion. If you are a fan of the show and you don’t see your favorite, let me know in the comments.
Just a short mention, I won’t be including the shorts on my list, just the movies. Some of the movies on my list may include a short, but know I love all the shorts they do. I know Youtube has a bunch of them on their so check it out!
10.   Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders
Tumblr media
You would think with a title like Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders it would be movie of child like wonder and magic. Instead this movie is an scary, horrifying story that Grandpa (Ernst Borgnine) is telling his grandson. These stories consist of man who uses Merlin’s Magic Book to cast spell which back fires (literally it ends with a fire) which ends in a death. An evil monkey with cymbal that causes people to dye if he crashes his cymbals. I won’t say this movie is full of wonders and Merlin. It’s a horror movie being told as a bed time story to a kid. Luckily the gang at MST3K joke about how the movie that sounds like it’s going to be a magical family movie, instead you’ll have nightmares about that monkey. My favorite part is when they cut to gag jokes in which the show fake children's book that looks innocent but when they open the book, it was ugly let’s say. So if you’re looking for a title that looks like it’s going to be something it’s not, this is the perfect movie for you.
9.  Santa Claus
Tumblr media
This is one of two of Christmas specials on this list. This movie is about Santa Claus (yea so you’re thinking). How about Santa Claus vs.the Devil. Damn. Made in Mexico, this 1959 movie tell you the real story of Santa, not living in the North Pole but in a castle in the sky. He doesn’t have elves, he has children from all around the world make the toys for him (and make them sing a song from their country). He also only goes to three house and fights the Devil for a little girls soul. I love to watch this episode every Christmas. I laugh just watching Santa wined up his reindeer (you’ll see when you watch it). The jokes are spot on with the gang, especially when the kids sing their songs, I crack up every time. So if you’re looking for a new Christmas special to watch in December, watch this I promise it will take that depression from looking at your bank account after a trip on Amazon,go away.
8.  Soultaker
Tumblr media
What do you get when you have, the early 90′s, writer and star in the movie and Joe Estevez as a grim reaper, you get a crappy movie. Thank goodness we have Mike Nelson and his robot pals to make this movie less painful. One of the character in this movie has the biggest chin I’ve ever seen in my life, and of course they rip him and Joe Estevez apart with their acting. My favorite part in this episode is when the girl is about to get naked, Crow gets excited until he gets something in his eye and he has to leave the theater. When he comes back she’s fully dressed again and he gets angry. This movie is full of bad acting, a story that feels like it’s dragging on and on and an Estevez! Enjoyable has hell.
7.  Manos: The Hands of Fate
Tumblr media
Any bad movie lover has heard of this movie. Manos is a classic so bad it’s good movie and this is how I saw this movie for the first time. A movie that has bad acting, bad sound editing and a story I really don’t get to this day. But thanks to this episode it brought this movie into the main stream. It also brought Torgo, a character from this movie into a couple of the regular episodes. This movie can drag on, even the robots and Joel say “ Do Something” through the movie. Though I don’t think it’s a strong as the others on this list, I still think it’s funny episode and it brought this movie the attention it needs.
6. Mitchell/ Final Justice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know I’m cheating by putting two movies at number 6 (but then again it’s my fucking list and I’m going to do whatever I want). I had t hard time trying to pick which Joe Don Baker movie to put above the other so it’s a tie. There is a sort of thing when it’s a Joe Don Baker movie that show something happens (to Joel). In Mitchell it was Joel’s last episode as host, in which he passes it to Mike. In Final Justice, Joel makes a cameo in which was a great build up. The movies both have Joe Don Baker as a cop. He’s above the law though so he’s a tough cop who yells at kids and goes to another country in his Taxes Ranger get up. In both of these movies the guys make fart noises and food jokes. Sound immature, but if you know me you know that I act like a kid most of the time so it’s funny.
5. Overdrawn at the Memory Bank
Tumblr media
This made for PBS movie is a classic. This Raul Julia (He played Gomez in the Addams Family movies) star as Fingal (yes that name is riffed a lot in this episode) a man who get doppeled into a computer. If you don’t know what doppeling is, well I really don’t either. Best way to put it, a guy’s mind is now in a computer and he’s is messing with a big companies computer system. This movie is confusing but with three others who also have no idea what’s going on either it makes this movie enjoyable. My favorite part is at the end where Fingal and this fat guy (yes that’s his name in the movie) have a basic staring contest. Just the jokes of them staring are enough to make this movie laughable. Also as a side gag they do this fake pledge drive like they do at PBS, even if you’ve never seen this movie you’ll love the pledge drive gags. Please watch this and realize how much PBS means a lot in pop culture (I’m talking to you all you people who want to take away ELMO)
4.  Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Tumblr media
Spoiler: Santa never conquers the Martians. Yes I know sad. This movie is so cheaply made, I mean just look at that picture. The actors that played martians look like they just put on some green paint, made their own costumes and said ok let’s shot a movie. Heck even a guy dressed up like a polar bear looks like he made that thing himself. The episode is a classic when it comes to MST3K fans. My dad told me he remember watching this movie when he was young, and watching it now you why my dad told me this movie sucked. The movie itself is really really bad but these jokes are spot on. The gang also sings a funny song called “A Patrick Swyaze Christmas” (RIP PS). This episode is full of Christmas Spirit and a sold riff on a not so great holiday classic.
3.  Hobgoblins
Tumblr media
So I have to point out that this is my boyfriend’s favorite episode. He was a little upset that this wasn’t number 1 on my list. But like I said before it’s my list (not even my boyfriend can change that). I will say though that this is on my list because it’s the best movie that defines the 80′s. Hobgoblins is a big rip off of the Gremlins movie. But these Hobgoblins are locked in a safe until they are freed but a guy who is as brave as the lawyer in Jurassic Park. His friends and his girlfriend are the worst people you can meet. There is even a fight with rakes (yes the lawn tool )and they just use the wooden part that makes a sound effect every time they hit them. I love this episode for all the jokes they make on the over sexed Jesse Spano look a like. I will watch this episode if I’m sad or need to be reminded that there are worse movies than Norm of the North. Please watch this one for your 80′s kick.
2.  The Final Sacrifice
Tumblr media
This fucking movie is the best Canadian riffing movie (Sorry Canada i love your style but this is just a great episode). With a teenager that sounds like he’s reached  puberty a couple of times, a man who lives in a house that sounds like a cartoon character, a cult that looks like they are going to rob a bank and the greatest hero Canada has Rowsdower! That beer drinking, mullet wear, over weight beauty of a man.  Yes now you know what my twitter name means (that’s @heyrowsdower on my twitter for all of you who want to follow). Just think average Joe on an adventure. But what makes this episode my number 2, the jokes are spot on. The way this episode flows, how the character react to what’s happening the screen, even the side gags are just so funny that I don’t want to spoil. I just say please watch this one, after you watch my favorite MST3K episode...
drum roll my number 1 pick for my favorite episode of MST3K is....
1.   Space Mutiny
Tumblr media
This is my favorite hands down episode of MST3K ever. Not going to lie it was hard to write this list, heck I left out a bunch of great ones, like Werewolf, Eegah and Time Chasers. But I knew the whole time when writing my list what my number one was going to be. I remember watching this episode on TV for the first time and I pissed myself because these jokes are what make this show a classic. A movie that takes scenes from the show Battle Star, has the love interest who looks older than her father, show a women being killed then in the next scene she’s there alive and well. But I think what makes this episode the best is the names they give to the main hero Dave Rider. Calling him Buff Drinks Lots, Bulk Vander Huge, Flint Ironstaff, etc. I also show this episode to someone who has never seen this show telling them this is what this show is about. Three people making fun of a movie and looking like they are having a great time.
I hope this list will help you start your new obsession (your welcome). I really want those who have never seen the show to check it out. There are some episodes on Netflix now, including Space Mutiny so no excuses!
