Dylan’s Easy Edible Fake Blood Recipe

this stuff is so easy to make and you don't need corn syrup or starch!! i personally had all the ingredients already at home and just threw them together

YOU WILL NEED:

honey

gel food coloring

a microwave-safe bowl

a spoon or other stirring utensil

extracts or other flavoring of your choice (optional)

something to store your finished product in

that's it!!

PROCEDURE:

start by spooning as much honey as you want into the bowl

microwave your honey in 10-second intervals, stirring in between, until the honey reaches a thin liquid consistency (don't worry, it will thicken up again once it cools)

add drops of red food coloring one by one, stir in between until the color is evenly distributed. remember to add slowly and not too much!! you can always add more but you can't take away

you can stop here if you want, especially if you're going for something more cartoonish! you should be left with a bright or neon red depending on the brand and shade you used

if you are trying to add hyperrealism, add (VERY SMALL) drops of blue food coloring to darken the color

you can make your "blood" any color and adjust the food dye accordingly! last time i made this i was trying to make black, so i added more blue and a drop or two of yellow

once your honey is mixed evenly, you can now add something to flavor it if you don't like the taste of honey or just for fun. i used peppermint extract

at this point it should be cooling down and returning to its thick sticky consistency

if you're saving your "blood" for later, store it in tupperware, a plastic bag, etc. i used a ziploc bag so that i could cut the corner later and use it as a piping bag since i was creating drips

and you're done! here's a bit of extra info bc i'm Like That

PROS:

skin safe, edible, and imo super yummy!

drips very realistically and stays where you put it

will not stain your skin (as far as i know. i've kept it on for a good 15-20 minutes and had no stains)

cheap as heck wow

lasts super long (honey never expires! i would not rly suggest testing that tho)

CONS:

drips A LOT. will drip on everything that you love

never dries

STICKY and this can make removal a little bit tougher

may not stain your skin but will definitely stain your tongue if you eat enough of it

not 100% opaque
