I don't think it's accurate at all to say that "most people" support the monarchy and would hate this protestors. There would have been exactly two types of people hanging around the coronation route on the day:
Protestors.
The type of hardcore monarchist who travels from all over the country and/or world to cheer at a dickhead riding by in a golden carriage for 30 seconds.
People jeering at republican protests were not ordinary representative members of the public, they're a special subset of hopeless sycophants out on their nonsense special day. Outside of certain rich communities in england this is not some universally adored oppressive institution that a tiny minority is fighting against.
some photos from today - thought id pop down to trafalga square to have a look and feel the anger of many
#i just say 'protestors' broadly because I think something as large as this attracts people who wouldn't even ordinarily show up#and there were people protesting just whatever for visibility besides the actual purpose-driven people pointing directly at the royal famil#like hardline republicanism isnt super mainstream either dont get me wrong#but the vast majority of people are not waiting in line to kiss charlie's toes#just a range between mild distaste and 'id rather not think about that man'#rather than heart-swelling joy and pride. except in the worst pubs you've ever been to. where a bloke named barry#in an england football shirt from 1998 is giving you a death glare for looking like a pansy
