my shittiest superpower, apart from the anxiety, is picking up on hinted plot points in the media I’m consuming, and then being disappointed when they get dropped completely
#that B-plot mystery fizzled so hard though#they… staged an assassination attempt with a feckless assassin who was meant to die#in a situation where they knew several members of the berserker paladin order would be present#but the goal apparently was… not to trigger the paladins into a battle rage?? why would you *not* incorporate that into your evil scheme????#it’s *free* murder!#god I’m unsatisfied on multiple levels#if Nettle & Bone read like the outline of the book it could have been#then Paladin’s Grace read like fanfic of a better book about the same characters#anyway I’m going to the library now and I’m gonna find a fantasy book that I didn’t hear about from my friends’ Instagram stories#my husband also had a rec for me when I said I wanted actual religious worldbuilding… but it’s Yet More Fantasy Catholicism
