hi everyone <3

as some of you may have noticed, i went on a hiatus around 4-5 months ago. this was partially to do with the fact that life has been taking a huge toll on my mental health, especially from school work and a levels :,)

i never thought i’d be saying goodbye to this account so quickly, but after considering this decision for so long and being on the fence about it, i’ve realised that if i wasn’t going to come back any time within this year or the next (not until i’ve sorted myself out at least), then there was no point in consistently saying ‘i’m on a short hiatus’ and giving a false hope that i’ll be back soon.

through this account, i’ve made friends with some of the absolute best people ever, some of them whom i’ve lost contact with and others who i still talk with on a daily basis. however, that’s not to say they haven’t made an impact on me. i appreciate each and every one of my friends or mutuals, even if we’ve never properly chatted before.

similarly, the amount of emotions i feel from realising my work has given some people happiness is something i genuinely cannot put into words. every like, comment, repost— i cherish and still remember them up till now, after nearly 3 years of being on this account.

i can’t promise i’ll never return, because i don’t know what the future has planned out for me, so i can’t say i’m leaving forever, but what i will say is, i’m leaving indefinitely.

i’m keeping this blog up, mainly because i can’t bring myself to delete it after all the memories it’s given me, but also because it’s such a huge part of me that deleting it just wouldn’t be right.

so, to finish off, i’ll say goodbye for now. if the future is in my favour, i hope i can meet everyone again in a happier, more stable self <3

you know, the Horrible Histories "Victorian names were WEIRD!!!!" skit leaves out some important info on some of the names (assisted by Ancestry.com searches):

Lettice Berger: "Lettice" was an anglicization of the Roman name "Leticia." Berger is just a normal German surname. Yes, they had the word "lettuce," and I'm sure the similarities occurred to them. But nobody named their child "lettuce" like the vegetable.

O.K. Johnson: Probably just the kid's initials. "O.K." as a slang term was invented in 1830s Boston, but without any evidence of when little O.K. lived (they don't cite any sourced for these names, how convenient), it's impossible to tell whether it would have crossed the pond by the time he was born.

Never [they pronounce the surname Rookrook]: I found a LOT of Nevers in the UK with Indian surnames. So uh. There's that. And a lot of census records online seem to have notes written by the census-taker mislabeled as names- "never opens door" was one I noticed. Just saying. I also found multiple "NEVA Rook" census entries- which probably would have been pronounced "NEE-vah" but sounds like "Never" with a British accent if you tilt your head and squint.

Toilet: Surprisingly common modern misreading of "Violet" on 19th-century censuses with bad handwriting.

Baboon: Found one census where it's a misreading of "Barbara;" others were non-Anglo names like Baban, Babyon, Babboni, etc.

Susan Semolina-Thrower: That's just two unfortuate surnames, I'm guessing? I can't find their sources, again, but I do find a lot of records of "Semolina" as a surname in the UK during the 19th century. The poor parents had no control over that, did they?

Happy: ...yeah, it's a virtue name. And? How is that weirder than Faith, Hope, Grace, Patience, Prudence, etc?

Evil: Another census misreading- usually "Evie."

Minty Badger: "Minty" is short for Araminta/Aminta/Arminta. Still sounds like a Discworld character, but nothing would sound normal with "Badger" as a surname. Araminta Badger at least makes more sense to modern ears, though.

Freezer Breezer: Breezer was a real surname, and parents can be cruel. I don't doubt that- my dad went to school with an "Emily Memily." that being said...I did find a "Fred R. Breezer" born in 1873 in England; see above re: census misreadings. Just throwing that out there. I found it as a corruption/misspelling of "Fraser/Frasier" too.

Scary Looker: I actually found this one. It was a misreading of "Jeany" on a census- the girl's name was Jane Looker, born 1841 in Lancashire to John and Elizabeth Looker. Nice research there, team.

Farting Clack: Fasting Clack or Clark, born 1863 in London. Another lovely misreading from the census. True "Fasting Clark" is not NOT a weird name, but it's a lot less horrible than "Farting Clack" and it makes sense under the Hyper-Christian Parents category.

Princess Cheese was real, not a nickname, and not a misreading or misspelling. Princess May Cheese was born in 1896 in West Bromwich. She married one John T. Brookes in 1914- possibly eager to no longer be a Cheese?

Multiple people really have been christened Bovril, most notably one Bovril Simpson, married in West Ham in 1911.

Incredibly, Raspberry/Rasberry/Roseberry is a real given name, and Lemon a real surname. Most people named Raspberry seem to have been men.

So that's only three of their Wacky Victorian Names that are actually 100% real. Nice job, there, team. I love Ghosts, but get your collective act together!

(They did once have a skit insisting that Victorians called trousers "the southern necessity" when that's actually a phrase from the writings of famously terrible 19th-century author Amanda McKittrick Ros, whose work her contemporaries loved poking fun at. So I shouldn't be surprised)

🎈General Info + Klown headcanons🎈

General info:

- An important thing to remember about Klowns: they’re all malicious to the core. Some are less than others and some more than average, either way it’s within their nature to inflict as much damage as they want to.

- Klowns are born with a variety of abilities, such as invulnerability, shadow puppets, creating acid cream pies almost out of nowhere, ventriloquism, make sentient balloon dogs, and super strength. Those are the common abilities, but with some training the Klowns can learn voice manipulation and the invisible car trick, which is the ability to make it look like you’re driving and going the same speed as a car, when in reality there’s nothing there.

- Almost all of the Klowns can understand and write in any of the human languages, but only a few of them can actually speak it. Those who can can really only speak in short utterances rather than full on sentences (they’re still learning, please be patient!)

- Klowns are carnivorous. They get their nutrients from their chosen source, which is humans. I say chosen source because they are very much able to eat animals just fine, humans are just their main preference.

- Klowns have a variety of weapons like, the cotton candy/balloon ray gun, mallets, bats, hockey sticks, and a party horn hand that can snap your neck. While the popcorn bazooka was used as a weapon, I don’t think it’s intended purpose is used to be a weapon. I think Rudy just simply didn’t have his ray gun on him and the bazooka was the closest thing to a weapon in the heat of the moment.

- Klowns are a male dominate species, any Klown you see full-sized or as a Klown baby will always be male. The only way for a Klownette (female Klown) to be made is if a Klown traps a woman or fem-presenting person in a balloon. The balloon acts as an incubator that changes the cells of the trapped individual to look and function like a Klown. The trapped person dies halfway through the process but lives again as a Klown.

- Klownettes are treated quite nicely by the Klowns. They get their own room instead of having to share bed space with the boys. Food is hunted for them even though they are capable of getting it themselves, but they’re not complaining! Klownettes are treated like queens, but of course they pay back the Klowns for the treatment by giving cuddles and kisses to help them de-stress after a long day at work. They also provide a little bedroom business, if you know what I mean 😏

Klown Headcanons:

Jumbo

- The older “straight to business” Klown. I’m just saying he’s older because I feel like he’s more experienced.

- Jumbo doesn’t mess around when it comes to harvesting people food. He puts the colony’s needs before his own personal amusement, so he isn’t usually seen laughing or setting up little skits with his food. The exception is when he happens to be hunting children, for them he has to act all giddy and playful so they come near him (as seen in the Big Top Burger scene). I wouldn’t say he never plays with his food though, Jumbo did mess around with Officer Mooney shortly before ending his life.

- Jumbo always uses some sort of melee weapon, sure he does use his ray gun from time to time, but I truly do think he prefers weapons that leave a mark rather than a gun that puts you in a cotton candy cocoon or balloon.

- Jumbo is almost never seen using his natural abilities. The most we ever see him use any of his abilities was when he was tormenting Mooney. That included his ability to pop his hands off and regrow them at will, turn his his head and neck an entire 180 degrees, and using a corpse as a ventriloquist doll. This all goes back to the fact that Jumbo uses his melee weapons more than anything else.

- Despite his size, Jumbo is actually pretty stealthy when it comes to Klowns. You will almost never hear him make any noise when he’s hunting, unless he purposely makes his presence known.

- Jumbo can understand human languages fairly well to the point where he understands which hand signals mean what. He can’t speak any of it though, Jumbo sticks to his language whenever he wants to talk. The only time he really “talks” was through Mooney’s corpse and it came out as Mooney’s voice instead of his own. Whether or not he can write in any of the human languages is unknown.

- Out of all the Klowns, Jumbo is the least likely to trap someone in a balloon. He’s more into finding enough food than finding another mouth to feed. Plus, he actually does have some high standards that majority of humans could probably never meet. So if he ever traps someone in a balloon, all the other klowns know that that person is the real deal.

- Jumbo is one of the caretakers for the baby klowns. He has a different parenting style than Rudy and Slim, it’s the “throw the kid into the deep end of the pool so they learn how to swim” kind. I mean he was literally seen sprinkling some the eggs in a fast food dumpster. He’s not exactly the galaxy’s best parent.

- He’s not very fast in speed. The best he can do is a quick shuffle. Guess you really can’t expect him to sprint anywhere with clown shoes on though.

Rudy

- Is one the sciencey kinda Klowns. He’s the one mostly creating tools and gadgets to help capture and contain food/Klownettes. I’d say he isn’t as old as Jumbo and Slim, but he isn’t as young as Shorty, so he’s sort of in that middle area with Bibbo, Spikey, and Chubby.

- Now while Rudy does make the tools necessary for harvesting, he doesn’t actually do that much harvesting himself. He’s always tasked with studying a planet’s creatures before they go in for an invasion. That’s why we see him turn a general store inside out instead of hunting.

- He assists other Klowns with their hunts. Oh, they want him to block any kinda exit the human may have? Sure thing. They want him to chase the human into their trap? Alrighty then. He’s just ready to help whenever they need him.

- He’s so tired, can someone please convince him to go to bed? Or at least that a break from work? His let’s work kees him from getting any proper amount of sleep, despite the fact that there are plenty of other Klowns on the ship that can cover for him. Sometimes you can find him passed out in any of the ship’s hallways.

- Rudy is careful going into human territory. He knows that while he’s virtually indestructible, but if someone hits and pops his nose, he’s history. So until all the Klowns make a full frontal assault, you can find Rudy playing it safe.

- Rudy really wants to speak the human language, it’s so fascinating to him that so many humans can speak so many languages! He understands it well enough to read, write, and listen to it without needing translation. Won’t someone be kind enough to teach him? He promises he won’t have you turned into food!

- When it comes to making Klownettes, Rudy is more likely to put someone in a Balloon than Jumbo, but that’s not really saying much is it? Instead of just zapping some poor soul into a Balloon, he tries to court them, the traditional way of doing it. If they accept whatever item he is trying to give them (a flower, heart box of candy, or maybe even a little love letter 👀), he’ll be so flustered. Like he’s glad they like him back, but he expected the complete opposite (someone get this man some self esteem). Rudy

- Being one of the caretakers for Klown babies is a hard job. Rudy has to make sure the babies have enough moisture, warmth, and exercise (which is just them being moved around) so that they don’t rot away in their eggs. Rudy is the one more on top of this than Jumbo and Slim, they still put in the work, just not as much as Rudy. This doesn’t mean that Rudy is soft on the kids though, once some of the eggs are near hatching, Rudy will take them out of the incubator and puts them either in the bag or the popcorn gun.

Shorty

-Is the youngest Klown on the ship (besides the babies). That doesn’t mean Shorty is child or a teen though, he’s old enough to seek companionship with who he deems is a fit for him. But he still has that childlike nature that makes him seem like one.

-Shorty is actually one the less malicious Klowns you can encounter, I mean he still very much will kill you if you gave him a reason or food supply on the ship is low, but other than that he’s considered friendly according to Klown standards.

- Shorty has child-like curiosity rather than scientific wonder like Rudy. When Shorty explores areas he’s not familiar with, he plays around with what he can find. When encountering people, he doesn’t necessarily attack first, he’s curious to see what they’re like. He’s heard a little bit about humans from the other Klowns, “They’re just as bad as us, but we’re far stronger and more intelligent than they could ever be.” Is what Shorty is always hearing when he asks about humans. Shorty doesn’t want to think that all humans are terrible, he’s sure that some humans are nice. Unfortunately, running into that biker gang proved him wrong, so now he’s a bit wary of humans. He still has that hope that there are nice humans out there.

- He understands the human language completely to the point he can do sign language and write (it’s a bit sloppy but that’s ok!). He’s working on the speaking part, but he’s getting closer everyday! For now, he can speak in short utterances that are some what understandable.

- Shorty is one of the more faster Klowns, quite literally could go from one place to another in a flash. He still wants to ride his little tricycle around, just because it’s fun to use.

- When it comes to finding a mate, Shorty is the embodiment of puppy love. Shorty doesn’t exactly know what he likes, so he tends to fall head-over heels with anyone who shows him kindness. He follows Rudy’s way (even though it’s the traditional way, he refers to it as Rudy’s way) and tries to court the person of interest. He would either gift them a flower, a piece of candy, or a toy he found. He’ll be so delighted if they accept! Won’t necessarily turn you into a Klownette immediately, but will at some point, with your consent!

- Shorty is a hunter/gather for the most part, but he secretly hopes to be on egg care someday. Shorty absolutely adores the babies, they’re so cute to him! He finds human babies fascinating too, they’re so small and they seem to speak their own language. It would not be out of character for him to randomly bring a human baby aboard the ship to show to the other klowns. Half the time the babies are returned to the parents, the other half…..it’s not pretty.

Spikey

- He’s an adult but has the attitude of a teen. Often gets shit from Jumbo because of this. Is a little shit

- Definitely one of the more malicious Klowns you can encounter, doesn’t necessarily only hunt people for food, but he also does it for his amusement. The puppet show is a good example, while he did use it to lure in some food, he set up a whole performance instead of just jumping right away to blast his prey.

- Spikey uses his ability to make balloon dogs to help find people who try hide from him and the other Klowns. It’s not always prey he uses the dogs to help track, sometimes the dogs help find his stuff that other Klowns may have taken from him. Getting your equipment taken often happens when it looks exactly like someone else’s. Normally Spikey doesn’t get angry at those who accidentally take his equipment, it’s an honest mistake. Except when it comes to Slim, because Spikey knows Slim did it on purpose just to fuck with him.

- Spikey knows how to read and write in a couple of the human languages as well as understand it when spoken to him. Spikey is not that verbal, even when he’s around other Klowns (I watched the movie a couple times, just to make sure. He doesn’t utter a word except for his laughter), so the chances of him actually speaking any of the languages he knows are slim.

- Now since he’s a little shit, sometimes Spikey messes with the other Klowns (does it to Jumbo the most). He mainly messes with the others on the ship rather than out on a hunt. This includes: tripping, acting like he’s holding the door for you only to close it right before you walk through, shoot spit balls (saw a teen boy do this and decided to copy it), does the tapping on the shoulder thing, pushing in someone’s knees in from behind so that the fall backwards (does to Slim and Rudy the most), putting your stuff in place you can’t reach (Does this to Shorty), and using the balloon dogs to steal your shoes. While this may seem like he’s being a complete jerk to the others for no reason, he gets his fair share of being the butt-end of a joke.

- Now, in terms of what he likes in a mate, I feel like he likes someone who’s tough but fun to be around. Like they don’t take shit from anyone but they can take a joke. Here’s the thing, absolutely none of the Klowns will judge you based on your looks. They are all body positive and will love you no matter what you look like. However, if a human were to have Mohawk or have half their head shaved, I feel like Spikey would be more inclined to them. In terms of courting, Spikey is likely to present a box of candy or a flower he found in someone’s garden. Just like Rudy and Shorty, will not be bothered if you want to stay human for awhile, but you really outta want to become a Klownette soon. He’s strong but he’s not strong enough to fend off multiple hungry Klowns when food supply is low.

- Spikey hopes to never be put on baby care. It’s not that he hates the babies, the little guys are ok sometimes. He’d just rather be a hunter/tracker rather then having to worry about if he’s looking at eggs right. Plus it’s alot of pressure, that’s a whole new generation of Klowns you have to look after!

Slim

- The ship’s biggest asshole, but he’s smart and knows the advanced techniques, so he’s a respected asshole.

- The most malicious Klown of the bunch (besides Jojozilla). All the things he does (in the movie) are for his own amusement rather than the needs of the colony. Slim does contribute to the food supply from time to time, but it’s rather a small contribution.

- Slim rarely ever uses the weapons he’s given (his personal choice), the abilities he’s born with and the ones he’s learned have always been enough to get him by. Fully utilizes his ability to create realistic shadow puppets to lure in larger crowds of prey so that either other Klowns can sneak up on the distracted food or…he reels them in to turn them into baby food. The invisible car trick comes in handy when someone’s trying to drive out of town to escape, he likes knocking cars off the road. Voice manipulation is dangerous skill to have, Slim can lure out people in hiding by using the voices of people they trust, how he knows who’s important to the prey is a mystery.

- Slim can read, write, and even speak fluently in multiple human languages. Because of this, he often has to teach the other Klowns what some things mean on earth. Rudy begs Slim for vocal lessons, but Slim knows that the speaking part of the human language is not a quick and easy thing to learn, so he tries his best to be nice when teaching Rudy (Shorty also attends the lessons sometimes), but it can get tiring so Slim doesn’t give vocal lessons often.

- Like Spikey, Slim is prone to messing with all those around him. Doesn’t matter where, he’ll do at anytime and you will probably never see it coming. His acts of tomfoolery: Exploding traps (can vary from mild to lethal), stealing people stuff (targets Spikey and Jumbo specifically), cream pie traps (can once again vary from mild to lethal), using shadow puppets to trip people, sometimes he gets a hatched baby Klown to start biting people. When confronted with why he the baby Klown he’s taking care of is biting everyone on the ship, he pretends to be offended “He’s just a little guy! He doesn’t know whose who! You’re mad at a new member of the family trying to get used to their surroundings? For shame!” This line works so often it’s scary. Slim sometimes drugs Rudy’s drink so that Rudy can actually get some sleep, does this to Shorty too, mostly because Shorty can get too hyper sometimes and Slim just kinda needs him to shut up for awhile.

- Now, Slim is a little different when it comes to getting a mate. When you accept his courting, he’d rather you stay a human. You have any idea how small humans are to him? It’s adorable! He absolutely loves having a tinier mate! Gives him a sense of power. He’s kinda of a prev so he may be a bit touchy, very much likes PDA.

- No one knows what was going through Jojozilla’s mind when he decided Slim would be a good caretaker for the baby Klowns. Hell, not even Slim knows how he managed to convince Jojo that he would be a good caregiver. Slim is ok when it comes to teaching the babies, although when it comes to teaching them, he lets them deal with the consequences of their actions. For example: A baby Klown once electrocuted himself on a wire. It didn’t really hurt him, but it did scare him. Slim kinda just laughed a, “Bet you won’t do that again, now will ya?”

Such a silly funny guy

- Is always very happy and outgoing. If he isn’t smiling, then something is seriously wrong

- His demeanor gives the impression that he’s naive but he’s actually pretty clever, especially when it comes to absurd solutions to problems

- Gay as hell, he likes men

- His dad is Budwin but he and his mom are divorced so Budwin moved away and Didar lived with his mom in Maple Mountains his whole life. They met a few times later on but mutually agreed that they aren’t really cut out to bond with each other

- Formerly a Boy Scout which was how he learned about a lot of urban legends about Maple Mountains like the sugarsquatch. He’s also learned about a few from his mom since it’s traditional for parents of Maple Mountains to pass on spooky stories to their children

- Has a bit of a reputation of being a troublemaker. He sometimes played practical jokes or pranks on his classmates, fellow scouts and even the scout leaders. This makes him not very likable to some, but he’s also made a close group of misfit friends because of this

- His films when he was younger were usually short spooky stories about urban myths in the area and his own skits which he’s written. He sometimes acts for the films, along with his close friends or family friends

- Some people may find his high energy to be a bit of a nuisance, especially when he’s info-dumping about his favorite paranormal legends, but there are those (like Simone) who appreciate having him around

- Lots of members in the “Mystery Mountains Club” were friends he made from school or scouts

- He still holds his reputation as a troublemaker. Doesn’t cause much trouble in college, but during Mocharia he had a lot more material for pranks which he pulled as often as he was able to, and sometimes others joined in.

- However, while no one has ever gotten hurt from his pranks, he has gotten on some upper management’s nerves (especially Petrona’s) and did cause a few problems, but they never fired him. Instead they would make him sit in the corner called the “Gay baby jail”. It wasn’t used only for him though

- Hates getting up early in the morning and is very much a night owl

- Has a habit of procrastinating on school and college assignments but he never fails to turn in important film projects

- Loves camping, especially with the mystery club and his friends. Like Simone he also likes making fires and burning things with them

- Painfully tone-deaf when it comes to singing. It’s so bad people have questioned if he sings badly on purpose (he’s actually as terrible as he is)

- He and Simone have part-time jobs at Nowtime News with Duke Gotcha and Shannon. They all get along relatively well, though Didar and Duke’s relationship is a little complicated…

- Huge DND nerd and loves being the dungeon master, and even has an oc he uses when he’s playing in campaigns

- He has perfect 20/20 vision

- Since Simone and Didar are film nerds they love watching all kinds of films together and analyzing every little detail they can see or hear

- His favorite genres of movies are fantasy and horror movies, but only those with paranormal or fantasy elements (killers and purges aren’t exactly his thing)

-He is always happy to share spooky stories to fellow coworkers and friends, though there are different types of people who listen to his stories: Those who believe and are about as enthusiastic as he is, those who are skeptical but like to believe, those who like his stories despite no belief, and those who don’t believe at all, and don’t care to

Something clicked today. 

Shaded Aster. The pew-pew gun-gun Shionne returns with in Pelegion. 

Like. You know how her first gun is called Noble Rose because that’s the kind of person she is. (like, you know, character’s equipment gotta align with the character’s vibes and theme and all, ‘specially the important pieces, nothing groundbreaking about that ofc). So like Noble Rose because of the way Shionne carries herself with haughtiness and poise and, well, the thorns. 

And like, an aster, as I keep forgetting, is a flower (aside from being a dude from DotNW), right? 

Thing is, that’s the flower Shionne is  --probably maybe but also absolutely totally 100% in all likelihood somehow-- named after. the Japanese name for that breed of flower is pronounced shion, like uh. yeah it’s right there.

. And like, these two pieces of info only connected in my brain today as I emerged from sleep. funny how slow on the uptake i can be sometimes.  

Anyway I just think it’s cute! Despite the circumstances in which Shaded Aster is obtained. symbolism and whatnot.  Alphen says in the skit that follows the Cooldown Hug animated cutscene that he’s glad got to see the real her (or to really connect with her or whatever). Like. Beyond the rose. maybe there’s a smaller, more approachable little blossom that hides in the shade IDK.  Also the name aster comes from the ancient greek word for star. and like, she uh. has part of an astral spirit inside of her so maybe that’s uhhhh... purely a coincidence but also maybe not!

i was texting a friend while doing my "needlessly anxious re-watch of all of thepandaredd compilations to make sure i didnt miss an OC or any important info before i post" (i did, i missed Arnold and also a maybe-hand-symbol of the Agents of the Reboot), and since she has also seen several bits of thepandaredd's stuff, she was sweet enough to ask me questions about my notes. like "oh, cool, what did you learn?" and "what would you like to ask since making this?" and then encouraged me to post my answers in tandem with the post in case?? any of it could be answered? (no entitlement here tho, i swear) im trying to apply more of Randy Pausch's "The Last Lecture"'s bit about how, generally, the worse that will happen when you put yourself out there is a "no" and return to status quo instead of just being Very Anxious About Everything All The Time lmao

well the most shocking part i learned from keeping these notes is the realization that thepandaredd either COMPLETELY accidentally (in which case, wow, is that fucking LUCKY) or METICULOUSLY planned (which, wow, that is fucking DETAILED) made up a set of pre-reboot "Ted"s and "Alex"s that could be cassualities from Bill The Henchman's reboot, along with a set of post-reboot "Ted"s and "Alex"s to replace the previous set. because the Ted and Alex pre-reboot set are two goons that Bill circumstantially could have known (and is vaguely feasible for them to have known each other assuming thepandaredd wanted that?). this pre-reboot Ted died in a Bill The Henchman skit, where Ted got thrown off the Wayne Towers (roughly 73 stories high) by Man-Bat. this pre-reboot Alex was in the Todd The Goonion Rep skit (where Bill The Henchman was also in, though Alex and Bill did not interact/share a scene) where Alex was a Bane henchman who was a victim of wage-theft and not-up-to-code company housing via pit/sewers. and then the reboot happened. and thepandaredd just released a tiktok series about some influencer named Ted whose life is crumbling — and who, regardless on if this is a reboot-alternate-life Ted or reboot-to-prequel-into-repeating-the-same-death Ted: the henchman LinkedIn joke is especially funny and oddly so much darker— who has a co-worker friend at Ted's assumed day-job named Alex who lives in a duplex split between Penguin and Two-Face territory. how fucking wild. if they are the same set but now rebooted, i wonder if Bill will recognize them

other things ive learned: in addition to the arguably-two-or-one Ted/s, thepandaredd has three seemingly seperate OCs all with the forename Todd, and only one of them has a last name (Todd Andrews, of Superb Prowers). i also learned a speaking pattern differntations between Dr. Morton (calls patients exclusively by their villain-names) and Dr. Aaron Michaels (calls patients exclusively by their civillian-names) that i find endlessly fascinating. i also realized Bill's skeleton-growing necklace thing he got from a fan might be gone bc of the reboot (or maybe its still there, idk). and, lastly, i wrote down notes of each named OC's (a few unnamed, but not many) wardrobe and most of them are "wears all black" and, y'know, as someone with a brother as well as a best friend who wear exclusively black, that was endearingly funny to keep typing again and again, it makes sense for Gothamites lmao all cool stuff to figure out

now, the more me (fucking long) answer:

first, if i could ask any question (other than a question about if Bill's necklace is still the skeleton-growing thing or not because we haven't seen it since the reboot), it'd actually not be a clarification question. it'd actually be entirely biased around my special interest in "conceptual processes in media (aka: pre-production, and i still remain steadfast in insisting the 'writing ideas down on a shitty napkin' phase is probably my favorite part btw)", especially anything art related (where its most obvious manifestation is a hoard of concept-art books i showed you, bc, again, i just like people showing their work): and i just wanna know how the Goonion came to be. like. sure, feel free to answer in the sense of in-story lore how it got established as a bonus, i'd love that, of course. but my actual interest is based on "hey, thepandaredd how the fuck did you come up with the idea" (which i assume they have already answered that in a panel or twitch stream but **i** havent heard the answer yet). because i would have assumed there'd be a tiktok or something about "hey what if" that **then** became an exploratory skit (bc he's done that several times, which, fair), but nah. there is just Bill The Henchman's first appearance (where he was the first henchman ever beat up by a Robin), then MANY tiktoks later is a brief tiktok talking about Marvel Comics' Taskmaster Academy, and then MANY MORE tiktoks later is Bill's second ever appearance (its the "How the Bat Boys deal with henchmen" if youre curious) where Bill is properly called "a professional goon" AND name-drops "the Goonion" for the first time and a surprsing very few tiktoks later the Goonion shirt dropped, followed THEN by like a couple more tiktoks after is Todd The Goonion Rep's first tiktok drops and so on, which i know from legit going back and scrolling through thepandaredd tiktok to see if i had just missed the tiktok + if it just wasn't added to the youtube Compilations, and i couldn't find it. and like… i like knowing concept stuff, i wanna know how the Goonion came to be

(if i could be permitted a second question, id just want to know if thepandaredd has read ask-spiderpool?? as dorky as that is? which like. i know you said is too long for YOU to wanna read, BUT STILL. maybe he's read it. idk if they have a secret tumblr (also it is in a few other places now, i think. like i know its getting cross-posted to webtoons now but i think that one is still very fucking new). maybe. you never know. it is a v popular ask-blog fan-comic about Spider-man and Deadpool. esp bc of it really takes advantage of the ask-blog side of itself (it is v fitting of deadpool's psyche, you cannot refute that) to the point it feels like a critique on the nature of the ask-blog format? plus, that shit has been p consistently running since (i just checked) 2014?? so just about ten years??? fucking WILD. and, fam, i swear, it gets really fucking good, youve read One Piece, you can do ask-spiderpool, i so highly recommend it. like, it is the slowest slow-burn romance of all time, the creator knew these two have a LOT to work through and, even now that they are finally a couple, have still a SHIT bunch to work through. it is a really excellent character-exploration, i swear youd love it if med-school gave you the fucking time in the day. and its fucking wild to me how it gets a quite a bit of ask-spiderpool-specific fan-art and fanfic. but like. it gets it for a reason. like. again, not just "it reblogs spiderpool fan-art" NAH it gets "ask-spiderpool fan-art"??? wHAT!!! i love it, but id also enjoy hearing if thepandaredd loves/hates it or if he is just "meh" about it, assuming they have read any of it. idk

(a third would be wanting to know their Jason Todd playlist, thepandaredd said there would be East Coast rap, and i would love to explore the playlist. but thats just bc i like listening to people's Jason Todd playlists a lot. but i assume the playlist is private for a reason? or maybe i just havent seen the link for it. idk)

but yeah the skele-grow one is bothering me the most, but i also know that one will be indirectly answered SOMETIME. bc the necklace does get untucked SOMETIMES so itll likely be untucked again and i can confirm if post-reboot Bill still has it or not, so id probably ask one of the other ones if i was like at a panel q&a, it depends

Okay so, to all the new starkid fans: welcome!! I'm incredibly excited that there are more fans in the fandom, can't wait to see all the fics and art and such, and seeing starkid get more attention is great!

I know there's been quite a bit of mixed reaction coming from the starkid fandom, a lot of people are very excited, a lot of people are also nervous about the new fans, and I've seen people who are just, completely hating this.

So let me try and give some advice to both the new starkid fandom coming from mcyt and the rest of the starkid fandom.

Please, please, tag stuff that has to do with mcyt as mcyt (or if you're talking about the ranboo's stream tag that as ranboo and tubbo), I think most people are good at this but it's important. There are several starkid fans who are triggered but mcyt or just hate it, or simply don't want to see a bunch of mcyt things in the starkid tag cuz they aren't into mcyt.

Be respectful. This goes to both sides. First of all to the mcyt fandom, be respectful to the starkid actors, this is a problem that the SK fandom already has and were worried that having a bunch of new fans will make this problem worse. So just don't be respectful, don't ask the actors about their personal lives and such. And to the SK fandom: be respectful to the mcyt fandom, I know having a huge influx of fans is shocking and crazy and a lot to take in I know some of you don't like mcyt or the mcyt fandom, but please if you don't want to see mcyt stuff, simply block mcyt tags, and maybe help the new fans out and tell them what they should be tagging as what or what they should and shouldn't be saying and stuff.

Also I've seen that mcyt isn't the best at reblogging fanart and fanfic, and we'll the starkid fandom isn't the best at that either so just a reminder to please reblog art and fics! It really helps the artist and writers out!

This last one isn't really advice to help everyone get along and stuff but absolutely suggest that the new SK fans go check out other starkid musicals! And check out Tin Can Bros and Shipwrecked Comedy while your at it!

You should especially go check out Starkid's Black Friday and Nightmare Time! (here's a post that helps explain these a bit) and if you plan on watching them and don't want spoilers you should probably block the black friday and nightmare time tags.

TCB is Starkid's sister company, its run by three of the starkids (Joey Richter (he played Ted in TGWDLM), Brian Rosenthal and Corey Lubowich). They do alot of skits but they've also done several projects. Spies Are Forever and The Solve It Squad Returns are musicals that are, absolutely amazing, and solve it squad back in biz is currently happening! Sisbib was meant to be an animated series but, TCB isn't exactly able to make a fully animated series, so instead they're doing live readings of it. Vol 1 already happened and Vol 2 is happening tonight, but don't worry, on the 22nd you can buy the digital ticket version of it (you can buy tickets and also see more info here). There's also several other projects that they've done.

Shipwrecked Comedy is, well I wouldn't quite say its also a sister company, but it is closely tied with SK and TCB. They've done many projects as well (although no musicals but, all of they're stuff is also absolutely amazing). And please for the love God do not mix up Starkid, TCB, and Shipwrecked, yes they are all related to each other but they are all different, run by different people, with different projects, so please if your talking about something that has do with only one of these do tag as a different one and (ex: don't tag something that only has to do with spies are forever as starkid) this is already a problem amongst this fandom and doesn't need to become a bigger one.

TLDR; just be respectful, listen to each other, tag things properly. And maybe go ahead and check out other starkid musicals and check tin can bros and shipwrecked comedy

Haunted Hayride and Harvest Festival 

[Balmung - Oct 17 - 8EST - The Bannock, Central Shroud] From New Gridania take the Blue Badger Gate and head south

Free attendance, Costumes encouraged. View the PROGRAM for full info on costume contests, games, vendors, and of course, the HAYRIDE itself! 

The Hayride: 

Groups of guests will be taken via Chocobo carriage and Chocobo porter through the winding path from The Bannock to Haukke Manor, experiencing the haunts and tales the mysterious Black Shroud.  An informal introduction to the history of the area will be accompanied by three spooky skits encountered along the way.

Groups will depart every 30 minutes, starting at 8:15  EST.

The Harvest Festival:

At Bannock proper, a Harvest Festival will be ongoing for those to enjoy before and after the Hayride.  Here you will find Food and drink, games, dancing, and a costume contest!

Important details Below the Cut:

Due to the Chocobo carriage's limited capacity, some guests will be asked the /follow along on a 'Chocobo porter.'  So, if you can, please make sure your Chocobo is out of stables. Pairs will also be allowed to ride together on two-person chocobos.  Characters without riding unlocked will be given priority in carts.  

RP among guests is encouraged during the ride but not required.

All vendors, game prices are in character unless otherwise stated. Tips are always appreciated but never expected.

Hello! About abyss, the anime is quite rushed, but it does an ok-ish job covering the important plot points. I watched the anime first, but i must say, playing first is better.

Not only the plot is more complete and complex, there is also the classical tales of charm! To the comedy to the sad moments is better in game.

Now, about the version to play. Story wise there is difference. The big thing is the quality of the image, ps2 is a lot older than the 3ds, but if you don't mind the loss of video quality, then, go for the ps2!

I totally advise you to play if you can, the story is amazing. I have cried and laughed so many times! The characters are quite lovable too!

But if you cannot play, like me, there are yt channels that make the whole playthrough with skits and all, but they skip battles the non important battles. They kept the big bosses only.

Lastly you can watch the anime first too. The ost is beautiful and tear's Japanese voice is quite soothing too.

This got long... sorry I really like tota is my favourite game from tales of!

wow that’s gonna be a hard one to do..... i’m gonna put them in categories so i don’t have to strictly rank them.

not in any particular order!~

TOP 3:

yuki - first on my list! i already made a post about this but yuki is truly the character i relate to the most and i think his arc is not only my favorite but the most interesting to watch! he’s a treasure and the character i’m most drawn to. i always like to think he’d be the one i’d more easily befriend out of all of them!

isuzu - my sweet punk goth rebel... much like yuki her story and arc is one of the most interesting ones imo. in contrast to yuki, though, i think isuzu’s character allows us to see a very different side of the repercussions abuse has on a person. yuki presents well (overall) and keeps his problems to himself, but isuzu simply can’t do that. aside from that i just LOVE her will to fight and keep going, and her softer side. i adore her relationship with tohru.

kyo - how could i NOT have this absolute good of a boy in my top 3. i love love love his character and how much growth he’s able to achieve. i love his story, i love how he interacts with people!!!!! he has anger issues BUT i believe he is actually much softer with everyone around him than what it’s seen (which is often comic relief). super enjoyable character, and has everything i ask for in an orange haired anime boy. very cool of him.

momiji - very good boy. much brave. great fashion sense. really important member of tohru’s support squad in breaking the curse even if he’s not even aware of it. i think he just needs a tiny push to go at it like tohru and isuzu are doing. plus he really stands out to me for his courage. when akito hurts tohru in the beach arc momiji is the one who goes out to seek help and actively tries to stop the situation. meanwhile we see hatori, shigure and kureno (adults) standing in the back. vibing. even if momiji is scared to death he always does his best to make a change.

haru - adore him. love the way he takes care of people and his personality cracks me up all the time. his scenes are the best. although i wish he kept more of the attitude he had the moment he talked back to isuzu’s parents when he was younger!! he comes off as kind of passive sometimes even if i know he’s got it inside of him (hatori and kureno can’t relate). but anyway! truly love him. ((oh and the scene of his first kiss with isuzu didn’t sit so well with me.. anyone else??))

ritsu - i adore her. i think she’s relatable and a great portrayal of someone with anxiety!! (even if it is a litte clowned and meant for comedy) i don’t care if people find her annoying, i will forever defend her honor. she has a special place in my heart. how cute is she interacting with mitsuru??? how cute is it that she follows ayame around?? AND she’s a trans sapphic character hello?????? that’s canon. if i see anyone calling her a he i WILL throw punches. please refrain.

ok!!:

akito - hate them for obvious reasons BUT THEIR STORY... THEIR CHARACTER BUILDING............... OOF. super interesting, with an immense room for growth, they’re hot and they also make a great villain. pretty cool if u ask me.

kisa - baby!!!!!!!!!!! even though her story is short i love it and i wish we could have gotten more info abour her development in school. that would have been a really great chance to explore bullying without having it be based on flashbacks (also i’d die to see a scene where haru, rin and yuki go scare off her bullies. they’re terrifying. AND WHAT ABOUT YUKI BEING KIND OF HER MENTOR... oof) anyway i just love her. i’m also the year of the tiger so i couldn’t help but feel drawn to her when i first read.

hatori - i really like him but again, i wish he would MOVE MORE. take a stance. do something. please. if he wasn’t so much of a passive character he would be higher on my list. i find him interesting and you know i’m a sucker for emotionally distant characters but.. sometimes that just doesn’t cut it :/

hiro - essential for tohru’s growth!!!!!!!! he’s annoying but he’s so cute and has so much potential. i can’t help but find him to be sweet. i feel like we’ve all been a little like him growing up. belongs to the anger management (and bad bitch) trio along with kyo and isuzu.

ayame - can’t really relate to anything about him but he’s still pretty much here and queer, so props to that!!! also immense respect for mastering the art of being insufferable.

well,, :

kagura - find her kind of annoying to be honest. i still think she’s a cool character and i like that she helps out kyo in his growth + appreciate her humanity but eh... not really interested. her violent skits don’t really make me laugh and get old real quick.

shigure - love all his scenes, he’s incredibly funny and brings a LOT to the story. he’s ESSENTIAL. i just think he’s a deep, deep asshole. from what he does to akito (the ren thing??????), to the other members of the zodiac and to even mayu. i love him and enjoy him a lot but like.. dude. i can’t unsee that.

kureno - i like him and find him interesting but like............ he could have made such an impact and yet. kinda chose not to do anything. he has the potential to be a really cool character but. he’s disappointing.
