it’s annoying when people say sakura was weak as a genin and that’s why there were no scenes in part one where kakashi took an interest in teaching her something apart from the boys, ie it’s all sakura’s fault as a character
kishimoto literally could have made up any reason, and we know this because he made up things for tsunade to teach her. her chakra control is why she’s so strong and why she can use the reserve seal.
we know kakashi thought sakura would be a great genjutsu user, and it’s kishimoto’s fault for not incorporating on screen teaching between kakashi and sakura and that this has limited narrative importance in shippuden
#imagine if sakura once her confession to naruto was rejected tried to use a genjutsu on him or at least contemplated it#if there was acknowledgment that she should have broken through sasuke’s illusion at the end#or her character being used to analyze a world where illusions exist#anyway kishimoto i hate you and i hate people who waive away your lack of creativity regarding women’s arcs#naruto for ts

Love and Naruto
Being still unemployed, I’m killing time by watching anime and Naruto videos around YouTube. Just a while ago, I was watching clips about Naruto pairings that’s why I decided to make this post. I’ll get 3 pairings that ended up together at the end of the series and I’ll rate them based on how I like those pairings being together, and of course, comes with it are the reasons why. 1. ShikaTema – Shikamaru Nara and Temari Easy, 10/10. Healthiest relationship shown in the series. There was already foreshadowing since the Chuunin exam arc, where Shikamaru was reminded of his mom because of Temari, and at the individual matches, they were matched up with each other in which (technically, Temari won because Shikamaru gave up at the last second because he was too lazy) Shikamaru defeated Temari using his intelligence. I can only assume that Temari was impressed by this. At the Sasuke Retrieval arc, Temari was the one who helped Shikamaru defeat Tayuya, and at the hospital, Temari gave Shikamaru a pep talk. At the start of Shippuden, they were the ones together in handling the chuunin exams. The series already hinted that the two were at the very least, good friends, and them ending up was no surprising by any means. I like this relationship because these two know both each other well, their strengths and weaknesses, their flaws. They complement each other so well and both doesn’t seem too obsessed with each other. Also, when the light novel of Shikamaru was animated, it was a bonus when Shikamaru asked Temari on a date. It was short but a cute scene. 2. NaruHina – Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga A solid 7.5/10. First things first, I was a NaruSaku fan when I started being a fan. That was a result of me being a super hopeless romantic at that time and I was seeing myself in Naruto’s shoes. It was implied at that time that Naruto likes Sakura, but Sakura doesn’t like her. My main problem with this pairing is that, throughout the series, much of the development shown was that of Hinata’s love for Naruto. It was clearly stated that from the very start, it was Hinata that likes Naruto. I know that in “The Last: Naruto the Movie”, it was said that Naruto didn’t really like Sakura, and that Sakura said that the only reason that Naruto said that he likes her was that he didn’t want to lose to Sasuke. However, I just can’t bring myself to believe that. I genuinely believe that Naruto really did like Sakura, as shown when it was obvious that he was hurt when Sakura rushed to Sasuke first right after their fight with Haku and Zabuza. It was also shown how he was hurt when Sakura showed her concern in the hospital after Sasuke was hospitalized after his reunion with Itachi. He was hurt not because he “lost” to Sasuke, but because of the fact that Sakura still doesn’t like her. Another problem that I see in this pairing was right after Hinata confessed to Naruto that she loves him, we didn’t even get to know or have a glimpse on how Naruto felt. If we assume that he liked or had interest in her after that, then this should’ve been shown, in my opinion, during the false confession of Sakura to Naruto. I also have a problem with how “The Last: Naruto the Movie” handled some scenarios. I really don’t like how Naruto was still so dense about Hinata’s feeling, as the war was already over AND SHE ALREADY CONFESSED IN THE PAIN ARC!! It took a genjutsu (which is somehow a plot hole, considering that he was a perfect jinchuuriki) for him to realize that Hinata loves her. And within one movie, Naruto suddenly just realizes that he loves Hinata and they lived happily ever after. But again, all in all, this was still a logical pairing, as it is really not that hard for someone to fall in love with Hinata, both looks and personality-wise. Her stalking Naruto was somehow creepy and unhealthy, but at least that was just pre-Shippuden. Their relationship might have some problems as Hinata might just always rationalize Naruto’s mistakes or defend his actions from everyone else, but the two can work it out. 3. SasuSaku – Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno 3/10. I just don’t know where to start. I just can’t really imagine how these two ended up together. I am assuming on a framework that all these pairings, ended up together because they love EACH OTHER. First, this was just too abusive. Sasuke has rejected Sakura a number of times, and even tried to killed her twice. Now I know that some people can forgive others, and I assume that Sakura has forgiven Sasuke for all the deeds that he has done, but forgiving someone doesn’t mean that you have to love them back again. I just don’t like the fact that Sakura seems to have no respect of herself. How can you love someone who had always rejected you, and that someone also had already tried to kill you, not once, but twice! It just doesn’t make sense to me, and it smells of masochistic behavior, which shouldn’t be romanticized. Another big problem I had with Sakura is her feelings for Sasuke. I will compare her and Hinata, as both are pretty much obsessed with Sasuke and Naruto, respectively. However, Hinata had a pretty much good reason to like Naruto. Naruto defended him from her bullies and she saw Naruto as someone who never gives up, which she admired a lot. However, Sakura saw Sasuke as someone, who is…cool and handsome. That’s all. And you would think that this would change, when Sasuke left the village and basically became a criminal. BUT NO! When she decided to kill Sasuke, her “feelings” got in the way and she couldn’t do it. Like how?? How do you still like someone, whom you haven’t interacted with for 2 and a half years (timeskip from Naruto to Shippuden) and the memories that you have with him aren’t that good either?? This also speaks to how Naruto was still clinging on to save Sasuke but that’s not the point of this post. As for Sasuke, it was clearly shown that he had no interest in Sakura whatsoever throughout the series. He did care about her as a comrade, since she was in Team 7, but that was it. I can only rationalize him wanting Sakura as a wife so that the Uchiha clan won’t die. It really sounds ugly as it would sound like Sasuke is just using Sakura, but that’s the only way I can see it. And what’s worse is that Sakura probably doesn’t mind if Sasuke is using her. Maybe it’s just also Sasuke’s way of saying thank you to Sakura for the things she had done. Sasuke may be like “Okay, okay, as a prize, I’m gonna be your husband. It’s not like I would stay anyways.”. I don’t know, I really do not like this pairing.
