Family Agenda (01)

sypnosis: intro drabble about having one big family with Diluc.

note: back from break! i noticed that a lot of parent!genshin content would center around only one or two kids, but imagine having 5-10+ ;)

Diluc

If you had told the maids of the Dawn Winery that in a span of a few years, they'll be chasing after little redheaded rascals all over the vine yards, they would laugh. Master Diluc? Having almost a dozen kids? Hah! Even the late Master Crepus only had one son and adopted the other.

But alas, there you were having tea on the porch, keeping a watchful eye as the maids ran after said rascals. One of them nabs at a sprinting child, quickly wiping the mud off their cheek with her apron before the child is off running again.

The hired staff has doubled since your marriage, with Diluc wanting each child to have at least one guardian watching over them, yet the children still managed to sneak around with ease. A little baby gurgles on your lap, making grabby hands at the glass of wine and plate of pastries on the table.

"Shh you can't have those, sweetie." You coo, bringing a spoon of mushed up grapes closer to his lips. He whines and squirms in your hold, trying to grab the alcohol.

"Honestly, where did you get your love of alcohol from? Not from your father, that's for sure." You sigh, pushing away the wine glass further from his reach.

The hooves of horses padded against cobblestone, you look up to see the dark carriage bearing the Ragnvindr crest halting before it reaches the main entrance. Diluc jumps down from the carriage, followed by one of your older sons.

"Father!"

"Daddy!"

"Dad's home!"

The variety of names they call him is a testament to being raised by different maids. You laugh as you see the tops of red hair scurry through the grape yard towards the carriage. Diluc goes down on one knee, arms opening to welcome one- two- three like rascals in his embrace.

He stands up carrying the three, with a fourth one arriving to cling to his leg.

"Did'ju bring the sweets from good hunter, daddy?"

"Look at my ribbon! Adelinde made it for me!"

"When can uncle Kaeya visit?"

"Babababab!" One gurgles, noming on his shoulder.

Diluc offers one of his rare smiles – something that isn't so rare anymore since he started a family with you – as he struggles to take out a paper bag from his coat with the three children in his arms. Thank archons for all his training, he wouldn't be able to carry his children otherwise.

"Slow down, slow down. Yes I didn't forget the sweets; Adelinde did a good job on your bow, sweetie; Uncle Kaeya is busy with the knights but he'll be over for Sunday dinners; and-" He pauses, looking at the toddler eating his shoulder. The cloth drenched with slobber. The toddler stops too, sparkling ruby eyes looking back at Diluc's darker ones. They blink.

"Seems like our second youngest is teething." He chuckles as one of the maids wipe the slobber off with a cloth.

"It seems like it," You had left your place from the porch, baby in your arms, "And the youngest one has a love for alcohol despite never having tried any." You held up the whiny baby, tears welling up in his eyes, pouting and disappointed for not getting what he wanted.

Diluc pinches his cheeks and he gurgles gleefully, tantrum done and over with; the youngest was too much of a daddy's boy and it showed in the way he lights up in Diluc's presence.

"Maybe I should consider working from home."

"You won't get any work done in the manor, you know? They're rowdier than the drunks in the bar."

"Mommy can we go inside now?"

"If all of you get down from your father, perhaps we'd be able to."
