( this whole ramble is coming from someone who loves and plays dnd / ttrpgs)

i've seen a lot of people on twitter saying they prefer Dread to Sword AF. cool. thats totally fine you can have your own views and opinions, nothings wrong with that. there are even some legitimate things to be said about the fact that the GM for Dread has actually GM-ing experience and is (for lack of a better word) a professional story teller, while Damien had self-admittably never GM-ed before Sword AF. HOWEVER, if your critique is something along the lines of "damien wasn't funny as a GM" or "the gimiks in Dread were just more fun that Sword AF" then you're missing the point. the structure of DND versus other TTRPGs is so different. it is not a GM's job to be witty or have cute gimiks to mess with the characters, mainly because thats not ever going to be an aspect of the game. as someone who GM's reguarly, i may randomly make a player do a dex save and take damage if they fail but thats not because i'm trying to cater to a group of viewers who want to see some cute/funny game gimik- its bc im annoyed with said player. some people (glares at smoshtwt) need to realize they just do not like the game mechanics of DND. say that. stop trying to bring everything into shitting on damien. you guys are miserable and it's actually sad.
