#im watching chucky

the thing is that the chucky tv-show is incredibly absurd, but in the middle of that absurdity is quite an earnest narrative about two gay boys coming to terms with their sexuality (with one of them having faced abuse by his father and dealing with the aftermath) and falling in love with each other, while season 2 partially follows a non-binary kid (whose soul has been placed in two separate bodies) figuring out why they're feeling disconnected with themself

and a lot of the absurdity is explicitly classic camp horror in feel, jennifer tilly as tiffany valentine in beautiful clothes believing she's a star and eating up the scenery, rivers of blood in the most unrealistic ways, the dialogue is often idiosyncratic, john waters is a guest star at the end of s3, the sheer amount of gender fluidity and drag opportunities that are taken within the concept of body hopping, a little girl who just wants to kill... it's like a big love letter to horror itself

sometimes i think it goes a little too far into its own yes-and silliness, but it always pulls itself back to its core. and that core is serial killers in doll bodies traumatising kids

i feel like this is something people probably already figured out but im 100% convinced sr pelo based john and jack off the cop dudes from child's play (1988) considering we already have the very obvious chucky parody - i havent seen anyone bring it up though and i just wanna ramble bc i find it interesting lol

i mean, the guy on the right's name is literally john and looks like him. thh eguy on the left is named mike but he still looks like jack. idk i just kinda thought it was cool to think abt lol

actually no tv show has ever had me so obsessed as yellowjackets because every single other show that ive rewatched has been casual rewatchs (rewatches?), as in watching when im doing something else or when i have little time. but im actually watching yellowjackets for the third time and im as attentive as i was the first time, even more so ive been obsessed with other shows before, ive watched shows in shorter amount of time than what i assume to be healthy, but ive never been so into a tv show before. especially because its SO analysiable (is that a word? im using too many non-words). there is too many stuff that hasn't yet been explained, and the things that have are still so. DJSDHSJ. like knowing stuff only makes me want to study them more
