I know I say this a lot but... I seriously can't believe that I spent half my life convinced that I had to agree with anything anyone said about the world — no matter how obviously false, no matter how absurd — if they said it with enough emotionally manipulative language

its actually really really sad :(

#im trying soooo hard to unlearn it now. its really hard.#my problem is that i'm now very confident in my own beliefs but i still broadly agree with the nutty people and therefore question myself #when i disagree with them on their politics #since im used to just dealing with the cognitive dissonance/agreeing that im SO wrong i can't even see why im wrong #and since 12 years on tumblr has given me some serious moral ocd. like for real not as a joke. i censor my own thoughts and i dont like it #and this type of person will insist that censoring your thoughts obsessively is a moral imperative and also proof you're fundamentally evil
