in regards to powers: i'm still unsure on exactly how to handle it, but i do like the idea of being able to create more stable portal constructs... maybe being able to teleport constructed items? maybe being able to create more sci/fantasy constructs than donnie alone can...? much to think about. parmi definitely has a combined Even More Insane portal powers, messing with both dimensions and space... (but he operates on rule of funny, lol, so a bit unpredictable) they can probably still use their normal separate abilities to some extent, but probably are still affected by each other!

i love the idea of galileo getting Very hyperfocused Very easily- gali gets their love of learning and being right, and they don't feel hungry or tired as much as either donnie or leo would, so they can get really lost in the weeds... components of a fusion remember everything that happens and would probably retain the information learned, but wouldn't for example make leo instantly knowledgable on all the complicated science stuff donnie knows, and vice versa. aka: leo and donnie both ending up with a LOT of contextless, near-useless trivia after unfusing post-wikipedia binge. the image of them fusing exclusively to combine their ability to Prove Someone Wrong On The Internet is really, really good LMAO

how do you experience being otherkin? how do you feel about it? how, if at all, does it impact your day to day life? do you own any gear, if not, do you plan to make or buy any?

Id just like to add before I answer that I am a Wolf and Nightfury. I prefer the term Otherkin for my Nightfury kintype. I am a Therian and Otherkin. I am currently questioning fictionkin (Sebastian Solace, at this time I'm unsure if I'd be okay with doubles.), but I'm going to wait a couple months to confirm. I am specifically Suntherian + Sunotherkin. I think I am also possibly Otherflicker.

How do you experience being Nonhuman: I'm a Psychological Nonhuman. I wasn't born nonhuman, but I subconciously became one when I was younger (about 6-9 years old). I was obsessed with Wolves and HTTYD when I was younger, I still am but not as intensely. I slowly subconciously started to mimic their behaviors, and then they became an inseperable part of me. They're always integrated into me, I don't really experience shifts? Idk, sometimes I feel more animal but I'm ALWAYS atleast a tiny bit animal. I have been questioning if I could be a physical nonhuman, (Not in the clinical lycanthropy or zoanthropy way though. Nothing wrong with having delusions, just saying this to clarify I do not have delusions) but I'll have to do more research into that.

How I feel about being nonhuman: Great, I am not a big fan of society or humanity. It makes me happy to be able to seperate myself from it. Recently I've been feeling not human at all with a bigger dislike towards humanity, triggered by one of my normal human friends and I having a debate over "If you had to choose, would you save a dog or a human" (I'd save the dog, he'd save the human). We ended up getting into a big debate about it. Idk if it'll be a permanent thing for me to feel not human at all or if it'll go away eventually.

Does it impact my day to day life?: My animalistic side is 99.9% of the time always very very controllable. If something does slip out it's usually something subtle. Like a small growl/huff or teeth bare, my mum has actually noticed this, she knows I'm a Therian and Otherkin. This could be considered gross, but if I have minor cuts or scratches I lick them, not because I like the taste or anything, my body just wants me to. (If you know me IRL or my friend from somewhere other than Tumblr, no you don't.)

Do I own gear? If not, do I plan to buy any?: I have a mask, a bunch of tails and stuff. I have claw gloves for my Nightfury kintype. I love tails and stuff so I will eventually get more. I have bones and necklaces and bracelets and badges and stuff, I have A LOT of stuff. I personally dislike how big the topic of gear is in the community, I'd prefer it to be more about our identity and experiences relating to it.

Extra: I am also Otherhearted, and I have an extreme amount of kiths, like into the hundreds. For me, I classify being Otherhearted as having behaviors of but not identifying as, having a strong connection to something, relating with something. anyways uh. longass teal mask thoughts with spoilers ofc.

the story is....tbh its nothing to write home about, and i doubt it'll get the same amount of praise as the base game's story at all. in fact it EXACTLY had everything (minus one thing but i'll get back to that) i predict it'll be with ogerpon and the momotaro trio's design. so i'll spare from spoiling that if you had the exact same inference as me because, believe me, they're not hiding what the pokemons' role are in the slightest.

tbh i already had my expectations down knowing the base requirement to play this DLC is to just "start your treasure hunt" (read: literally when you're done with the game tutorial). so they did exactly what you expect from that as well--theyre not gonna address you being a champion, nor anything with the fact that youre already friends with nemona/arven/penny and all that endgame jazz lol. frankly this is my biggest disappointment with this DLC because i love paldea's cast a lot and this DLC barely gave me that...but ah well.

the stars of the show are DEFINITELY kieran and carmine. to the point other characters are just...There to deliver NPC quests or something or only give story hints to the next DLC and not much else. (briar is def the most sus still)

but back to both of them; carmine is one i didnt expect to be someone two-faced lol. she legit called us a weirdo and bunches of other insults, i think this is the closest we'll get to a rude rival-kun in this game (unless you wanna count when arven being an ass at first when we were total strangers with him). ofc she eventually warms up and accepts you and all but she still slips into this haughty side of herself very often and i love that lol. and she also DOES have her reason of being Like That, nothing too deep, but it fits her and she's a fun character to have all around.

kieran on the reverse (:)) side though, uh, oh boy. i grew REALLY fond of him at first when he was shy and unsure about calling us a friend. but then the Angst™ part hits and...yeah, as i've said, the writing really doesn't do it for me once they showed kieran's "motives" and reasons for adoring the "ogre". basically MC and carmine hide the fact they met ogerpon from kieran and he?? basically compared himself to the ogre who got demonized as an outcast in the kitakami village with that?? just because of his sister not telling him a secret??? uhhhh. i wish they'd give him a backstory of being estranged by his classmates or fellow villagers or something and hence why he felt so #relatable to the ogre stemmed all the way from his childhood would make sense that way because this conflict just feels too much of a reach for me to sympathize him in this part ^&%^$^&%^#

also uh, i did said ONE thing i was also expecting from the trailers is kieran going apeshit. in fact i was thinking "damn kieran suddenly going angst would make more sense if he was possessed by the evils or smth" and i was REALLY disappointed that that was the only expectation of mine that didn't happen...until....uh....................until the VERY last scene in this DLC happens. and they're implying that he IS going apeshit. with a cliffhanger. HOLY FUCK.

anyways kieran is VERY unwell please help him (but i still love him)

also uh, the kitakami region itself? personally i had fun with it. I LOVE the matsuri the most and im so happy we get to explore a rural Japanese area in pokemon like this. in fact there should be more video games with such areas actually (yes i preordered the physical ver of the shinchan game already) however, uh, the map *is* quite small in comparison to the base game and sadly the areas like mountains and forest, etc? dont expect an improvement in graphics too much even with the smaller map. so just a note if thats your priority in exploring open worlds like that yeah.

and uhh, ive said that the "plot" with the pokemons were predictable and all, but the "quest" to reveal their lore was amusing and never boring to me so that's something. i especially like how they presented ogerpon's side of the story (albeit it was a short bit).

overall. yeah. was the story anything spectacular? not really. did i had fun with it? oh definitely.

frankly on its own the story isnt anything special (i really only cared for kieran/carmine/orgepon really) but it DOES serve as an interesting bridge for the next DLC...which...now i have higher expectations for, thats p much my conclusion with it.

is it worth the price tag though? uh. idk yet. if you're on the fence with that i suggest waiting for onions on indigo disk. thats as much i can recommend.

so yeah. i had a good time with it. and at least thats more things to feed my scarvio brainrot

*kicks door down, scatters my Augustus thoughts everywhere* PSPSPSPPSPSPSPSPSPSPS AUGUSTUS AQUATO STANS CMERE I GOT CONTENT FOR U

to make a long story short, it's 5am and im vibrating with these disjointed ideas i got for Augustus' mindscape so yall get to hear me ramble about it :D it probably wont make much sense? but these are super rough concepts that im just puttin down to see how i vibe with it (and maybe get feedback if yall end up throwin asks my way just sayin just sayin i will ramble MORE if u enable me and i'll do it for FREE)

so yeah enjoy my nonsensical ramblings about the only man i'd trust with my drink ever

a quick note, all of this is post-Psychonauts 2 so expect spoilers :D

okay so i dont have a catchy name for Augustus's mental world just yet but im considering "Augustus' Anomalies" or somethin i'll get back on that anyways-

i so badly want Augustus's mind to be a walk down memory lane. the whole place is like extreme platforming, think those super hard final levels in mario or somethin, so yeah this is Raz's home here he's gettin all over the place so easy. the idea is that the further you get, the more you find his repressed memories and feelings, things he's pushed down until he's forgotten so he doesn't need to face them. he doesnt have time for that with 5 kids, his wife, and his Nona around! he's a busy man!

but now? after everything? he only has time to think on his hands. and it's making it much harder to keep it all down, especially since he's just started remembering everything.

in comes Raz (and probably a few others. maybe the family too? or just Trouble Trio i aint sure) offering to do a mental wellness check on his dear ol dad, to clean up a bit and help him think a bit clearer

and to everyones shock, Augustus agrees, offering his mind for Razputin to explore as he pleases. when he's asked he just smiles. it's sad and tired.

"I don't want to hide things." he admits with a shake of his head. "Not after so much was hidden from me. My son deserves better."

so into the mental world we go! :D

we start in front of a small blue tent, similar to Raz starting in a dark room with just the Caravan in front of him when he explored his own mind, and going through reveals a whole new world. its full of bright lights and colorful displays, rides and games and everything you'd expect to see at a circus. a properly funded circus at least.

however, that's below you. in actuality, you've spawned on a rather narrow platform with a tightrope in front of you leading to Mental Augustus who sits atop it with little issue. talking to him reveals that he's not...entirely "all there". he's still very much Augustus, but there's parts of him missing. in terms of design, he's completely monochromed (and maybe wearing a mask he cant take off? im futzin as we speak) and to bring him back to full color you gotta find these missing parts of him.

there's three parts missing, kinda similar to Cassie's level. but unlike Cassie's level, these arent archetypes that Augustus needs back. they're memories he genuinely can't find on his own. the ones that were either repressed by the Astralathe or by Augsutus's own subconscious to prevent him from feeling more hurt then he already is.

the missing parts are

- Happiness

- Anger

and - Sadness

at least so far. im still feelin it out.

each section is held in it's own large looking tent that is slowly leading to a Big Top in the center. the level is made up of two sections, a "ground area" with concession stands and a bunch of figments and some mental constructs of people like his family, random carnies he's met when he was in Grulovia, and even some of the psychonauts :D only Milla, Sasha, and Oleander tho. they're the only ones that are important to him atm.

(Milla and Sasha are viewed rather nicely while Oleander seems to be getting the cold shoulder so....Augustus isn't over the whole "trying to kill my son and making him sneeze out his brain" thing quite yet)

the other part is a "sky area" or rather an area that's entirely off the ground, with tight jumps and carefully placed tightropes and trapeze placed all over to get around. on the ground you'll find the Emotional Baggage while in the air you'll find their Tags (to show that Augustus would rather repress his emotions then fully recognize them and accept them yknow?)

first area's Happiness. the tent is seemingly from the early years of the Flying Aquato's Circus, very well made and well decorated as you head inside. there's a performance going on and your job is to help it move along smoothly since it seems they're missing a few people...

you help set up some balance balls, tie together some tightropes, and adjust the spotlights while the show goes on under you. once everything's in place, the show finishes with a human pyramid which is topped by a young Augustus colored yellow. he smiles all broad and gap-toothed and waves at you until you jump on and land on his hands to finish the show properly

(if you look close, you can see the Gzar and a young Gristol watching the show from these theater seats. they look out of place in the tent, as if they're too....nice looking to be there. but they're there, and they look bored as hell.)

once it's over, Happiness (as we'll call him) goes over to Raz and asks him to take him back now. the show's over, after all! he can't just stay here forever when there's so much more to see! like Bob's Bottles you end up essentially teleporting back to the tightrope the Mental Augustus is still sat at. Happiness essentially tackles Augustus and the man laughs before hugging the young version of himself. a bit cautiously but it gets easier once he actually commits to it. Happiness melts away and Augustus gains some color, but not all of it.

aaaand thats all i got rn. unfortunately. this is a super rough idea rn, and it'll be polished a lot before im satisfied with it in some kinda way, but i have a lot of thoughts

so tldr ; Augustus' mind is about digging up old repressed memories, good bad and ugly, and learning to accept them as part of you. even if they hurt, it's worse to ignore it all and let it simmer.

i also would like Maligugustus to be a final boss? but idk m thinkin.

if yall actually read all this im very impressed???? and if u have thoughts on this stuff definitely send em my way cause i have ideas for the Second and Third area and THATS where the angst is gonna hit i assure u
