do you like those fics where the premise is "all the variants are here for y/n but main mark hasnt even dated her"
i like them the most when its a right person wrong time situation on main marks part because im mean
like since highschool theyve never managed to be single at the same time and then he finds out the evil versions of him destroying shit have had her when hes never even got to try asking her out
nobody has written this specific type of thing i want to read yet, but like, the variants getting stuck in main marks dimension and he and y/n keep finding out things about the variants loves with their version of y/n thats excruciating to hear for two people whove been in love their whole lives but have never been in a place to act on it
the only variant who hasnt done anything with her is maskless who was in a very similar situation with his william. like three of the older marks were actually married to her, at least one out of those 3 had been about to have a kid with her before losing her. literally none of them have ever broken up with her of their own free will. at least one of the younger marks had only just managed to start a relationship with her before he lost her.
main mark watching these versions of himself practically swarming someone he also loves and has probably loved before he even understood it but with no right to do anything about it because hes with eve. who he does like. but he asked out after a version of her from the future told him she loved him apparently her entire life and he was her biggest regret.
main mark experiencing never before seen types of emotional pain wondering if he should have read into the eve thing as the universe telling him you were about to break up with your at the time partner just as he was getting into things with eve, or if waiting to see if youd leave them would have prolonged your relationship with them because the universe fucking hates him for reasons beyond his understanding
i would write this myself but im already stuck trying to write like 3 other long projects already. but if i did write it id probably end it as happy as possible because even though i like angst i can only stand so much.
It is truly the writer's blurse to be struck with so many fascinating concepts while juggling already existing WIPs.
( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;)
It's an amazing idea with a lot of angst potential. I have encountered a similar but not exact premise a few times, maybe not as fully realized fics but as propositional posts.
I've always loved the idea of the Marks being so obsessed and devoted that they will stop the violence in order to reminisce about their respective Readers aka Y/Ns. (Oh, and this is more of my personal preference as an Invincible fanfic writer: the Reader-sexual crew includes Maskless because, as I have once discussed in gruesome detail, when it comes to Mark it is all or nothing for me. I can't tolerate him being in love with Eve or Amber in my verses, so I can't handle him being in love with William either. I am an equal opportunity "homewrecker." VCS readers, please don't ask me more about this because I might end up spoiling some things about my future plans.)
Honestly, if you have the energy to spare, you should give it a go, it doesn't have to be multi-chaptered. It can just be a short story or a bunch of "reactions" strung together. Heck, just write dialogue for it. Pure dialogue. Maybe you can use this idea as a writing exercise, like trying a different style or POV. Something to come back to and appreciate when you want to take a breather from your long fics.
Tbh, you've given me an excuse to stop delaying and start practicing first person POV again, and I was reminded why it's so hard penning reader insert stories:
I was surrounded. I could take on one or two of them, but twelve of these murderous assholes? My best bet would be to retreat while they were distracted, but there’s one problem: you.
You were the ball in this screwed up game of catch. All eyes were on you and I doubt there was anything that would take everyone's attention off of you at the same time. Even if I did manage to steal you away in a split second of distraction, I wouldn’t be able to go very far, not with that girl version of me here.
I watched as she pulled the pink scrunchie from her hair, black Rapunzel braid falling apart as she placed the hair tie gingerly on your hands.
You gave her a shaky smile but she didn’t seem to care.
I clenched my fists.
She was fast, faster than the rest, and faster than me.
“Cute, aren’t they?” The me dressed in my father’s colors watched you with arms crossed. “Don’t even think about trying to take her away, Marcy will rip you apart before you get the chance to take off.”
“Marcy?”
“Long story.”
It was hilarious. Not too long ago, this guy sent my girlfriend to the ER and here we were, talking like old pals. I wanted to punch him in the face but–
“You want to kill me,” he said, not bothering to look at me. “But we both know you won’t do that in front of her.”
“You don’t know anything about me or her.”
“I know that every version of you that came here is because of her.” He finally turned to me. “We all wanted a reunion.”
“I won’t let you take her.”
He scoffed. “We’re not interested in ‘taking’ her anywhere, we just wanted a chance to see her. To talk to her again.”
My fingers twitched. I already had my suspicions but I needed to know.
“What exactly is she to you?” I asked.
The faintest smile melted all the coldness from his face as he answered, “She was my dove.”
Time slowed to a snail’s pace as my voice betrayed me, “What?”
He met my gaze. “She was my wife.”
“Was?”
The ice returned as he turned away. “She died.” That was all. He continued staring at you, his longing obvious under that veil of composure.
I watched as more versions of me crowded you. Each one had something to show or say to you, each one looking like they have waited a thousand years for this.
The fear seemed to have dissipated from you somewhat, because you were now laughing at the words of my maskless self. He was smiling softly at you, but I could see the cracks in his expression. He looked at you like you were the world, but it was clear to me that he was searching for something.
I didn’t know what it was but I couldn’t help but release my fists, wondering if Eve ever caught me wearing the same expression.
#
I kept accidentally bouncing from third person to first to second. 😭
But it was a fun exercise!
I hope you do write about this someday because it is a great concept. Thank you for sharing it with me and our fellow fans.
PS
I must ask for clarification what you mean by "the Eve thing." Is this a reference to a specific plot point? Or just his relationship with Eve in general?

ngl my only exposure to vortex is secondhand stuff of him with first-aid (and even that im spotty on, cuz im not sure thats even him or if its someone else) but DAMN. HELL OF A FIRST IMPRESSION GHDSJKGMGKDSM-
He’s a sadistic interrogator for the Cons, a Combaticon, a tad bit masochistic and a lot of freak from what I know about him- I’d imagine none of the combiners are exactly okay in the head, though, Autobot or Decepticon. That the modifications necessary, the nature of the gestalt and losing your sense of self probably does some mental damage. And that Vortex may have been a bit manic and sadistic even before volunteering. Wanted to get this one done before I hit the road since it was in my head.

I Can’t Decide Pt 2
IDW Vortex x Reader
•Oh, that lovely sound of pure terror. Catching your tiny hand between two servos and pressing as you desperately try to pull free. Feels little bones shift. “Wait! I can get you more!” More? Crying out until he eases up and you yank your hand to your chest and point down at the other human. What’s left of him. “Like him. That’s what you want, right?” Such a devious little thing, offering to find him toys? To play with him?
• Still can’t look at the mess he’d made, but deep down? A part of you is glad. Knowing what he’d planned to do to you, that he’d likely have killed you after he was done, you can’t summon any sympathy for the guy. And there’s more like him, aren’t there? Aware that you’re making a deal with the devil to survive even as you look up into that luminous visor. “You’d bring me playthings knowing what I’ll do to them?” He asks, baring his denta in a grin. You’ll hate yourself for it later, but you nod. “Oh, we’re going to be such friends.” Tapping a servo against you hard enough to hurt as he laughs.
• Such a fierce little expression. You’re going to be such fun to break. Offering you his blade, he tucks the edge of his glossa against the corner of his mouth. Watches you squirm, trying to guess what he wants you to do and then reaching out and grabbing that sharp edge, wincing and hissing through your teeth as you pull your bleeding hand away. Those eyes narrowing as he lifts the blade and runs his glossa along it, shuddering slightly because you taste so much sweeter than the other human had. “Just a small taste and I can find you no matter where you try to hide,” he lies, feeling you stiffen in his hand. “But you wouldn’t do that, would you?”
• “Of course not,” you say, fear threading through you. Not sure if this is a game you can play. Can you really bring him victims? Even if you only find the worst of humanity, the truly evil? Flinching as he leans down and drags his wet glossa from your cheek, down you neck, along your arm all the way to your bleeding palm with a noise of almost euphoric pleasure, you decide you can. Anything to not get played with like a cat with a mouse until he accidentally kills you.
• Lifting his head instead of giving in to the urge to bite, he rubs his servo against that soft, delicate throat. “Name’s Vortex. To a lovely and mutually beneficial partnership,” he coos. Because you? He’s going to enjoy you, he can tell. None of the other Combaticons share his proclivities. Knows he makes them uncomfortable with his games, that they don’t understand. But you’re so desperate he can shape you as he likes. Make you play along until he gets bored.

do i have anything anything against jason as a character? no. i actually like him quite a bit! i think hes really interesting!

BUT DO I THINK SOME JASON FANS ARE FUCKING DUMB AS FUCK?!?? YES BITCH WHAT THE FUCK?
im gonna go through all the shit wrong with this comment thread one by one because jesus fucking CHRIST!!!!
1. "that thing" first of all. What. she is literally just a evil-aligned poc woman. she has been raised in this environment and as a result of that this is really the only life available for her and thats the tragedy of her character!
2. "why did she get with roy" THEY ARE FUCKING SOULMATES. THEIR ENTIRE THING IS THE INHERENT LOVE THEY SHARE FOR EACH OTHER WHILE ALSO VALUING THEIR MORALS ABOVE EACH OTHER. IT IS THE COMPLEXITY OF RAISING A CHILD TOGETHER AND ALSO TRYING TO FIND MIDDLE GROUND. IT IS BEGGINT THE OTHER TO CHANGE AND KNOWING THEY WONT.
3. "MY BABY JASON" YOU CANNOT SAY THAT AFTER YOU JUST INSULTED JADE.... LITTERALLY CANNOT. the biggest fucking hypocrytical statement i have ever fucking heard!!! bro!!! jason is Nawt a good person! he just flat out isnt! he has done so much horrid shit, not just to his familt, but to roy's family too. like he is not ur sweet innocent traumatised boy, he is a fucked up grown ass man who was hurt and decided to take that pain out on others. he is no fucking different from jade except he thinks hes doing rhe right thing, at least jade knows she isnt
4. "lian baby mama is jason now" ive talked abt this before, but sexism in fandom spaces when it comes to mlm ships is so fucking common it is fucking absurd. why are women only used as babymakers for ur gay characters?? why can they not be complex characters while men can???? it is fucking absurd how common it is in dc fandom and i frankly dont know why im shocked by it! women are regressed to one of three roles: evil villain who abused male love interest, baby maker, BAMF with no complexity or character at all and it is honestly so fucking tiring and just, boring to read??? like how do you not just hate it??????
5. "unemployed" honestly. i have no words. all im saying is it is No Fucking Shock that the woc is being pushed into these awful stereotypes.
now we are up to the worst part. the final comment...
6. "how are you gonna sleep with my man" ROY LEFT JADE. NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. roy was on an undercover mission and fell in love with jade and got her pregnant! he left because he would not be able to arrest her!!! all she fucking knew was one of the first people she truly ever loved had fucking gotten her to trust him and then left her, she had to deal with that pregnancy BY HERSELF. SHE LITTERALLY SAYS SHE SPENT THE ENTIRE PREGNANCY WAITING FOR ROY TO COME BACK TO HER, AND SHE WASNT EVEN MAD SHE STILL LOVED HIM.... she didn't even realise his identity for years!
also why is it always the woman's fucking fault if she gets pregnant? it takes two to tango! roy is as equally responsible for that pregnancy as jade is!
7. "AND THEN LEAVE YOUR KID" OH MY GOD.... [EXPLODES YOU WITH MY MIND] JADE. CANNOT. LEAVE. THE LEAGUE. BUT SHE DOES NOT WANT TO RAISE A FUCKINF CHILD THERE BECAUSE SHE KNOWS WHAT ITS LIKE!! SHES BEEN THAT KID!! jade knows fucking better then to delude herself into thinking she can raise lian safely while still stuck in her life, but lian is her number one priority always!! forever!! she pushes roy and lian away because she knows she is dangerous for them and because she thinks she doesnt deserve to have them and that love in her life!!!
8. "lian should be embarrassed to have her as her mum" i actually fucking wish nothing but hell upon you. have you not fucking read. just a single thing in ur life actually? just like actually can you read??? because i have met TODDLERS with better media literacy than you. LIAN HAS ISSUES WITH HER MOTHER. THIS WAS A BIG PART OF HER STINT AS SHOES. SHE IS DEALING WITH THE COMPLEXITIES OF LOVING HER MOTHER, THE WOMAN WHO LOVES HER AND CARES FOR HER, WHILE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGING THE FACT THAT SHE ISNT A GREAT MUM.
im sorry this is so messy and has so much shouting it actually has me fuming when people r so fucking stupid, idc if you dont like a character but dont just ignore all the bits of a characyer that make them redeemable or interesting to prop up ur male blorbos????
#jade nguyen#lian harper#cheshire dc#roy harper#arsenal#jason todd#red hood#green arrow#dc#dc comics#im not anti jayroy. or anti jason.#however i am pro media literacy which is so fucking rare in the dc fandom

ᡣ𐭩 •。ꪆৎ 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢'𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. | kenji sato x gender neutral reader
love mail — this was an evil thought im so sorry. (experimental) angst :( themes of grieving/loss mentioned
︰꒱꒱ "PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER, KENJI." he'll mutter to himself, his hands buried deep into his hair as he takes shaky, unstable breaths. this is the 5th time rhis week, it hasn't gotten any easier. it's just so hard to even think at this point. every thought is corrupted with the idea of you, any time he tries to even function his brain thinks of your smile and he breaks. why won't you leave? why do you make his days melancholic when you were once the reason they were the reason they were filled with ineffable joy.
why won't he let go of your memory? why won't he get rid of the empty soda can you left on his table? or the jacket you let him borrow? he knew it wouldn't fit him, after all. but you both also knew he just wanted to keep a part of you. how cruel that it'll be one of the last things that'll ever remind you of him. when your house got destroyed, barely anything was scavenged. the one place that was so full of you was erased, and he had no way to properly grieve that.
baseball is his only distraction, and by then not even that can keep his mind off you for long. his coach begs him to take a leave for as long as he needs, he refuses. if he accepts, he'll have to be alone with himself again. and thats his worst fear. being face to face with his own mind, his very cruel, unforgiving mind. kenji's thoughts were hardly repressible, and only your saccharine presence could silence his racing mind. he's afraid he'll have to live with them preying on his soul; forever victim to his own psyche.
he'll write poems you'll never get to read, sing songs you'll never hear, and say things you'll never get to know. he wishes he did more, but even if so, would that have been enough? could he have truly avoided this longingness for you even if he had more memories? he's not sure. he wishes he had an answer.
one day, he'll think he's okay again. he'll wake up and feel a little more life than yesterday, his mind isn't so enigmatic — and he doesn't feel trapped in his own mental prison. he'll make his bed slowly, but it no longer feels like a chore. he brushes his teeth and fixes his hair, the thought of you coming behind him with a hug doesn't cross his mind. mina instead reminds him he has a meeting this afternoon.
he feels the world has fallen into quiescence, everything is peaceful and he feels like he can breathe again. he takes a step out of his home, and he keeps going forward. kenji will walk to a store, he buys a small coffee, not a medium. you aren't there to ask him for a few sips anyway. the day fades away just as fast as it appeared, welcoming the dark night. for the first time in a while, he doesn't feel as if he's walking endlessly to a destination he doesn't know himself. he arrives somewhere, a tranquil park.
he sits on an empty bench, feeling the cold breeze of january in tokyo kiss his skin. it almost feels like you, he doesn't know how to explain it, but it does. and then he feels. it's complicated, but he just feels his heart squeeze and his throat suddenly forms a lump. he was getting better, wasn't he? so why, why until now — 3 years after your death.. he felt like this? so many years wasted with suppressing his feelings. for once, he will let himself grieve. tomorrow? he's not sure. but he simply hopes he'll be kinder to himself. just as you would have wanted for him. missing you came in waves, after all.

how would you describe/characterize splashfrost before the whole leadership nightmare?

i got a little carried away but somehow i doubt anyone will mind
in my beautiful miracle world frostkit is born an only child and splashkit immediately takes a liking to her. hes like wow its so weird that you dont have any siblings oh and your dad is dead lol wow and shes staring at him with her big amber eyes and shes like like um ok and she trails behind him like a lost duckling for the remainder of their childhoods. he ends up closer with her than even his own sister fognose the forgotten. theyre very attached from a young age and hardly ever bother with anyone else... id imagine that splashtail was always a little more outgoing than her endlessly charismatic as he is but he never truly connects with anyone outside frostpaw and his family to a certain extent. kin and blood are paramount in riverclan and i think he understands that sentiment well enough though its pretty much all the same to him. his relationship with curlfeather is something else to touch on entirely but its important to note that he is relatively close with her as well (she handled the latter half of his appenticeship) which is why the riverclan power grab goes down the way it does
splashtails family is the epitome of the nuclear archetype with sneezecloud being older than havenpelt by a fair margin and havenpelt feeling a bit pressured in her later youth to seek out the riverclan dream with him that so many fantasize about... they courted for a short while before tying the knot and eventually trying for kits and i would think theyre both fairly conservative as is a large chunk of riverclan. for all their faults they hardly ever argue and truly do love each other and are moderately supportive of their children (said generously) which is both good and bad for splashtail. he is his mothers favorite and she only feels a little guilty about showing it. he doesnt really care
splashtail is a little more violent than the average kit in his youth, a little cold and aggressive, but he never really means anything by it. its not so much about not knowing his own strength and more so just how his brain works. hell draw a little blood on accidental occasion and then call frostkit lame for complaining about it do you see what i mean. he can be mean but hes always been kinder to frostpaw than the majority of their peers and isnt usually out to hurt her. he takes to clan lifestyle exceptionally well so no one ever really cares what their charming little up-and-coming boy wonder is thinking or feeling or getting up to in his spare time as long as he does right by them in the end; no one expected his turn to apostasy! and he clearly takes his role incredibly seriously as its what he lives for. hes very polite he says all the right things and he knows how to act to get people on his side. i do have a general idea about how his thoughts and actions could be translated into the real world, and i mean it very genuinely when i say his behavior could be read as sociopathic as he matures into adulthood. this does not make him "evil" and isnt necessarily what makes him a bad person; it would be way too easy to go down that route and i want to make it clear that thats not what im saying or doing. hes not always unkind but he lacks a lot of empathy. splashtail is absolutely a product of his environment but he has his own unique issues that make him who he is. lets not forget the time the writers called him crazy 11.5 times. heres a post i like
on that note i find it relevant to bring up splashtails early days of apprenticeship and his first mentor softpelts death in battle; i like to imagine he was there to watch her go down and is consequently introduced to real bloodshed and death far before frostpaw ever has the chance to see such a thing (i think this would serve as a good parallel to frostpaw witnessing curlfeathers death up close as well). frostpaw is apprenticed less than a couple of moons after him, but its long enough to establish a notable gap in experience, especially since she began training right around when the imposter fiasco was coming to a close. a very key difference between them is that splashpaw got to see the imposter up close while frostkit was still curled up next to her mother in the nursery. i think seeing ashfur on the great oak inspired something buried deep inside him that he was never fully capable of understanding before his own untimely death. its not that he agreed with ashfurs methods or ideals, but he was fascinated by the way cats followed after him, as it was a stark contrast to riverclans fixed loyalty to mistystar
and while im talking about this i want to say upfront that im not particularly fond of the idea that he enjoys killing. i cant imagine splashtail really getting anything from it at all or at least not in the way people seem to think he does, which i tend to say about everything. taking someones life shouldnt make him feel anything too terrible in particular you know what i mean he just believes its something he has to do to get to where he wants to be. this is how they live this is what hes seen and been taught all his life; he has taken those teachings to heart! its just another hurdle to cross. all these people were in the way. he thinks everyone is in his way. i dont think hes haunted by the blood on his hands and he definitely isnt afraid of dying (or at least not in the beginning). this is what he believes he was made for. the only times hes ever concerned over what hes done are the moments he realizes he didnt properly rid of the bodies which is as funny as it is horrible. all that being said i do think he killed small bugs as a child
frostpaw on the other hand is the quiet intelligent and somewhat neurotic child of a single mother (who i envision to be just a bit younger than she is canonically, at least more so than splashtails parents). jayclaw still dies before she can get attached, and so the ever-idealized authoritative male role model is completely absent from her life; she does not know reedwhisker, and podlight becomes distant shortly before shes apprenticed. this doesnt ever seem to bother her regardless of how disappointed riverclan is by the fact, because her mother is (for the most part) all she could ever need. splashtail has always been the only other rock in her life and she really wont ever manage to find another who meets all of her needs... im lying im sorry rapidsplash is right there. frostpaw just finds that weird and uncomfortable so she tries not to think about it too hard
this would be the perfect time to mention this but im saving it for something else
and let us not forget that he has three sisters
they start training together soon enough and it is absolutely crucial that frostpaw works as a warrior apprentice first. and she does it because she wants to! and splashpaw wants it too; splashpaw wants frostpaw to be powerful and successful because he sees something in her that no one else does. he knows deep in his bones she has the potential to be the greatest thing riverclan has ever seen. splashtail has seen more than enough blood at this point; splashpaw envisions a better and stronger riverclan, a clan that isnt walked on, isnt looked over, and hell do anything to see it get to that point. he kills her mother/his mentor for it. splashtail kills curlfeather because he truly believes he would do a better job, but if frostpaw had asked for the title instead then he gladly would have given it to her. splashtail believes he was born to serve his clan. splashtail always knew she was special. shes just like him. she could be better than all of them. shes the only one he would ever approve of. he was determined early on to make sure she got what he knew she deserved. it didnt have to be him taking the top spot on the podium but he got a little too wound up and felt like he had no other choice!
contrary to popular belief splashtail did genuinely care about frostpaw for a long time, and im inclined to believe he still did after everything that happened. splashtail knew about her role in curlfeathers plans, knew how badly she wanted to keep frostpaw safe, and he was obviously trying hard to make it work. he tries to keep frostpaw in the game for as long as possible, whether its for his benefit or hers, but eventually she goes too far and says too much and he figures his safest bet is to get rid of her. he and curlfeather simply had very different visions regarding frostpaws future. ultimately his own paranoia was always bound to be his undoing but i think he should have been proud of her in his own way toward the end, which is what shes wanted all along
have you seen taps 1981 yet because tom cruises character is pretty much exactly what i envision splashtail to be. major moreland hes our man. i saw my duty and i did it. its beautiful man

splashtail loves riverclan and he would die a thousand times to keep it safe but he loved frostpaw first and he had no intention of dying anytime soon. bonds have always been prominent in the clans whether familial platonic or romantic but i doubt he ever could have put a real name to the way he feels about her. frostpaw obviously cares a lot more about labels than he does but at the end of the day their relationship is something neither of them could even begin to imagine living without. nevertheless splashtail loves riverclan to death and he ends up putting it above everything else in the way he sees fit, though i wouldnt exactly call his later attempt on frostpaws life an act of choosing their clan over her. it was a pure moment of weakness for him; his increasing annoyance and paranoia left him feeling helpless. he is more disappointed than he is angry at her (and its never so much a genuine anger as it is pure unadulterated frustration) and he was never the same afterward! everything means something! it has to! frostpaw youre REALLY not acting like my idealized version of you!
frostpaw has always been capable of the same things as splashtail. she is filled with indignation fueled early on by her clanmates cold and patronizing tones and she is sick of being treated like a child and she is angry and frustrated with the state of the world and she lashes out and she knows how to hurt people and she has blood on her hands too. they are two sides of the same coin and she knows it and this will continue to keep frostpaw up at night for the rest of her life

#splashtail#frostpaw#sf#happy sunday any further questions can be directed back to me#sorry for taking a month i get bored and distracted too easily for my own good#and thank you widok for the posts i so love to think back on. yours is next see the tag above

mike's weird language when he talks about el and their relationship
part of the equation of stranger things relationships is building the relationship through emotional connection, not physical intimacy and outright saying how you feel. it's a trope in st that the couples refuse to admit their feelings for some time before getting together. "we're just friends", "she's not my girlfriend" etc etc. the denial is super endearing. and even when the couples are finally together, this doesn't change. they're literally just the same duo same friends, but they kiss sometimes. they barely even acknowledge that they're together. it's a great trope in my opinion.
so a couple years ago i was rewatching st and made a list of everytime mike said something weird. meaning, every time mike did not adhere to this formula and stood out from the rest of the couples. i made a tiktok about it too so im basically quoting that in this post. something i stressed in that video was that because we have the other couples as source material, clearly the writers are capable of not doing this. they are capable of writing a good serious relationship, but they're choosing not to with mlvn. so keep in mind, the other couples (besides maybe stancy) do not do this and mike is supposedly, according to his own words, is madly and deeply in love with her throughout all of this and knows it.
Season 3
"Romantic time with my girlfriend."
i'll cut this one some slack, it's just that if you were truly madly in love it would be more like "I'm spending time with el". but thats all he views it as, romantic time with his girlfriend. going to his girlfriends house to make out with her. romantic time with his girlfriend. not bonding with the person he loves.
"Did you think we were never gonna get girlfriends?"
mike is hyperfocused on the word girlfriend. she's not el, the person he loves, she's his girlfriend. he doesn't say "did you think we were never gonna fall in love?" and look i get he's only like 14 here but it's the fact that he later claims he was in love with her the entire time and knew it. he literally claims it was love at first sight.
get girlfriends. he got a girlfriend. he didn't fall in love.
"It's not my fault you don't like girls!"
again the hyperfixation on girls, get a girlfriend, liking girls. mike, why are you more focused on the fact that el is a girl and your girlfriend than the fact that she's el?
"You're the most important thing to me in the world."
finn's delivery of this is so.....
and the fact that el just stares at him blankly afterwards, like she did not buy that lmao
Season 4
"That's because she's my girlfriend, Will!"
it's not "that's because i love her and want to talk to her" or something like that, it's "thats because she's my girlfriend and that's what you're supposed to do when you have a girlfriend" not "because she's el and i love her". that plays into mike's whole charade in lenora, he's just doing things he thinks he's supposed to do when you have a girlfriend.
"You're a superhero!"
that has nothing to do with who el is as a person, especially at that moment because at that time, el didn't have her powers. at the time, everyone believed they were gone, she wouldn't be saving the world anymore. but mike is still saying how incredible she is because she's a superhero.
i hate dr brenner so fucking much, but he did say something i really agree with. el kept going back to the concept monsters and heros, and he says those are things of myth and fairytale. not everything is black and white. this is real life, not a made up story with clear good and evil. and ultimately that helps her accept what happened with 001. he was 100% right there.
then here comes mike talking about monsters and superheros again like WRAP IT UP YA'LL ARE TOO GROWN FOR THIS
"You're the most incredible person in the world!"
again, he says that, but doesn't say why. he just expects her to believe him. it's such a broad statement and doesn't connect to anything about el and her personality/interests/ideas.
"Maybe I should've said something, and if I would've said that thing, maybe she'd want me there with her, wherever she is."
he wishes he'd just said it so she'd be satisfied and want him there and he'd know she's okay, he doesn't wish he'd said it so el would know in her heart that he loves her. "i love you" to mike isn't a geniune confession of his feelings, it's a thing. it's a thing that you say. it's something he thinks he has to say because that's what couples do and it's what el wants. if you fell in love with someone at first sight you do not refer to an expression of your love for them as 'that thing'.
"Maybe I was worrying to much about el. . ."
i really don't know what he meant by this. if she is the most important thing to him in the whole world and is deeply in love with her, why in the mother FUCK would he be apologizing TO WILL for worrying too much about her. there wouldn't be too much worrying when you love someone that much.
"You can fly, you can move mountains I believe that."
she literally can't.
"I love you for exactly who you are. You're my superhero."
the first time i saw this i literally thought "oh thats not..."
because it's.....not. one or the other would've been....fine i guess. but the first preceding the other is just not it. i love you for exactly who you are, and that is my superhero. is that all she is to you, mike? el expresses constant worry of being a monster, a bad person. she's afraid that she's a monster with or without her powers. but dr owens said "I'm willing to bet you're one of the good ones." fucking OWENS said something more reassuring than her boyfriend and supposed love of her life, mike wheeler.
THATS NOT ROMANTIC.

hi hiii
so. what if. iiii. enabled u to be autistic on the internet again :3c
i wanna hear your thoughts on eilistraee and vhaerauns relationship! the nitty gritty, the dynamics, how they think of each other vs how they act, and how thats changed over time+how its reflected in their church
im ADORING all your posts on it if i could id print them out and eat them 🫶
Okay. So this is officially the third part of my "I need to go crazy on some character analysis" Saga. My analysis on Vhaeraun is Here, and my analysis on Eilistraee is Here. I recommend, if you're stumbling across this post in the wild as tumblr tends to do, reading those two first so that you have an idea of how I see these two characters and where the basis of my argument for their characterization comes from. If I need to reference something from either post, I'll quote it here. But y'know. Need be said.
Okay so.
I believe this post is going to the most subjective of mine. I am going to try and pull up canon screenshots from War of the Spider Queen, The Lady Penitent, and Evermeet, but unlike how you kind of get told directly how the drow gods behave and hold themselves and a lot of things end up getting built on them, I would argue so many hands have touched DnD and so many interpretations of their relationship have sprung up over the books that it's hard to give a truly simplified "This is how they see one another."
Water is wet statement, relationships are complicated.
Anyway. Given what my thesis is, I am going to be talking a fair bit about abusive family dynamics in this one as well. My goal for this (and any character relationship I do, really) if to try and keep it very fair. I think a of people make the mistake when talking about Eilistraee and Vhaeraun's relationship of picking a side. Like this idea of one of them being right and one of them being wrong and needing to "Fix" the other. And I don't think that's true at all. I think to be able to understand why they feel the way they do about one another and why their relationship is the way it is, you need to respect both of their characters individually.
(Granted, I think this should be true of any relationship you're writing for in fiction. If I can preach for a second, I think even if you don't like a character, you have to be able to respect the character to properly portray them.)
Final note before I get into this. Everyone thank @abracadav-r again for being on screenshot duty. The posts wouldn't get done nearly as fast without them, they know exactly where to find these little moments.
So. That all said. Lets get into it.
I've made a smaller joke post about what I think their dynamic is like before here. But now that you're giving me the opportunity to do so, I will go indepth about it. Yes.
I'm kinda of the opinion that Eilistraee is more incorrect about Vhaeraun than Vhaeraun is incorrect about Eilistraee (But also that this is the result of DND Canon not being entirely fair to Vhaeraun.)
Let's get the discussion about my thesis about the Elven Pantheon being an analogy for an Abusive family on a divine scale out of the way first, because it's something I've mentioned a few time's, but only every really shorthanded. And I think here, in the discussion about relations, is a GREAT place to start and actually explore that.
Now. I should probably start by saying, I don't think this was intended by DnD. Like, I think when they were originally making this lore, it was the intention to just make a justifiable evil worth killing. DND came out of a time of the romantic fantasy, the very Tolkien and Fairytale esc ideas of good and evil and have this classic hero's journey power fantasy ideal to it. Other people have gone into depth about that origin with far better sourcing and dissection than I can ever hope to, but basically: DnD is absolutely (as all art is) a product of it's time and of the community it stemmed from.
However, I personally think those themes and ideas are a little outdated, and a modern audience (myself being the modern audience) tends to be more enthralled by very nuanced interpretations of good and evil, and find indepth character driven narratives more engaging. And I think that for what this mythos has become over the course of it's 60+ years of evolution, you can reinterpret the narrative to be a fascinating depiction of a mythos that echo's the abusive family structure.
Copying and Pasting from my Eilistraee Essay:
It is of my opinion that, when you look at the Eilistrae-Vhaeraun Dynamic and how they were treated by Lolth and Corellon, you're looking at a classic Golden Child/Scrape Goat dynamic. This is important to mention here because I do think that's important context within how Eilistraee (the person) see's and understands the world, and where her mind is at when it comes to the perception of her sense of self. To VASTLY oversimplify about how emotionally abusive family structures work by a lot, when you look at emotionally abusive families with siblings, you tend to find a pattern where one child ends up getting the bulk of the favoritism and affection (The golden child), while the other takes the bulk of the abuse and tends to take a of blame and is seen as being deserving of the abuse (The scrapegoat.) I'll get a little bit more into the specifics of what that means for their relationship in a later post.[*] Now. Calling her the Golden Child, but I don't think being the Golden Child is strictly a good thing. In a lot of ways, I think a lot of golden children end up very emotionally stilted, and I think you kind of see that in Eilistraee. She HAS to be the perfect one. And she's had this expectation to be The Good One placed on her shoulders since she was young. Golden Children are often blinded to the abuse their siblings face because they themselves are not subjected to the same kind of abuse.
[*] And well. It's that later post!
In emotionally abusive families, siblings tend to be pitted against eachother, either unintentionally as a result of the Golden Child being the subject of a parents time, attention, resources, and affection, or as a purposeful attempt on the part of a parent to put divides in a family. In the real life world, it is more often the first. I think a lot of people think Abusers are more like Lolth where there's an intentional "I looked at you and from the day you were born decided to make your life hell."
But I would argue the tricky thing about abusive family structures (Especially with parent-child situations), is that more often then not, the abusers love the idea of the person they're abusing. To them, what they're doing is love. It is very rare that an abuser is this knowing evil schemer that actively sits and thinks to themself that "That's my least favorite child, they don't deserve my attention."
(Though, as a small side tangent not immediately related to the fictional character, you might see this logic manifest more in the way finances are weaponized in abuse, especially see in America where college is more expensive and therefore often used as a control tactic. IE; My wonderful son wants to go into STEM, why would I waste money by giving it to my son who wants to do art college. Because people get comically evil about money.)
Instead, emotional abuse is often more insidious. It's... I'm going to put the blame on everything that goes wrong on my son (Who I left in the hands of his physically abusive mother to have his arm constantly bent behind his back by her) I can't bring myself to believe that my daughter would ever want to scheme against me. YOU could have been good once, but you're evil because you're not happy, you're too moody, you're too violent. I'm not even going to give you the chance or the environment to grow, because it's just in your nature to be evil, and because you are evil because you were born evil that all that goes wrong is your fault.
You know. That kind of logic.
So. Eilistraee was Corellon's Golden Child. She was the free spirited happy one. She was the one that loved to hunt and dance. She was the good one.
(But often, when a scrape goat leaves the family, the golden child becomes the new target.
Y'know. Like..
Corellon gave up on the idea of trying to turn his son Vhaeraun to abandon his ways. He vowed to kill Vhaeraun if he ever tried to hurt his sister. Nevertheless, the Masked Lord did threaten the Dark Maiden's life, without known action against him on Corellon's part.
Corellon's servant Solars claimed that, with this act, Eilistraee had exhausted her purpose, because the willing had been saved, and the unwilling cast down as a necessary sacrifice.
The in-story context for this being honestly worse and kind of containing bad racial implications:
“Her soul was destroyed,” Felarathael said solemnly. “But before she died, she saved many. She cleansed the taint from hundreds of drow who might otherwise have been condemned.” “But the rest!” Lashrael wailed. “Thousands! Hundreds of thousands! No hope of redemption for them, with Eilistraee gone. Condemned to darkness and despair, forevermore!” “Another necessary sacrifice,” Felarathael said without a trace of emotion. “Else the game would have been lost.”
This, to me, is the framework of Vhaeraun and Eilistraee's relationship.
Likewise, the Masked Lord nurtures an abiding hatred of Eilistraee. The Dark Maiden always held Corellon's favor more than her hateful brother, and she thwarted Vhaeraun's early efforts to bring all the Ilythiiri (southern, dark-skinned elves) under his sway, enabling Lolth and Ghaunadaur to make great inroads among those who would become the drow.
I'm under the impression that Eilistraee doesn't know Vhaeraun. She has this idea of who he is in her head seemingly both based on the what their father thought of him, and as a result of being an outsider looking at the things he did at the hand of his mother. (And again, let's be clear and establish in this post. That wasn't WHOLLY Lolth. Vhaeraun did play his part. But I don't think Eilistraee see's that, I think she strictly see's an eager climb for power) And then she makes a lot of assumptions about his motivations based on the idea of him she's made in her head that reaffirm that idea.
On the other hand, I think Vhaeraun understands exactly the kind of person his sister is, because it's really not that hard to understand who Eilistraee is. She really does just mean well. While I consider her to be a lot more guarded and lonely then people tend to give her credit for, I don't think she's being insincere with her wants and wishes and you don't have to doubt what her intentions are. Instead, the ways that I think Vhaeraun is often wrong about how well she can handle herself and how strong her allies are by 4e, and what that could mean for drow as a whole. Because he's so willing to discredit her as a threat, he doesn't pay attention to her, and because he doesn't pay attention to her I don't think he realized she'd gotten friendly to people like... Mysta the goddess of magic.
And being realistic, even if he had known, I don't think he understands the weight of her being friendly TO people like Mystra because he himself only ever makes allies, not friends amongst gods.
Now. The reason I capped that whole screenshot above is actually because it contains a very interesting bit of framework that I think proves this. Even back in the 2e source books, the phrasing of these things matters. If it was a matter of Vhaeraun thinking that something was the case, they would have mentioned it. However, the specific way that it's set up in that passage is: "It's not that Vhaeraun thinks Eilistraee's involvement in circumventing his climb to power allowed Lolth and Ghaunadaur to gain power. Her involvement DID allow Lolth and Ghaunadaur to gain power."
And I don't think she's aware of that. But Vhaeraun is.
To further this, we're to copy/paste a passage from Sacrifice of the Widow. Now. This is from the perspective of a Vhaeraun worshiper, and it holds as much bias as Eilistraee's priestesses have towards him. But. Because it correlates with metatextual information we have from all the way back in 1998, I'm inclined to say it's not a full dishonesty, just a biased truth.
The dance might have been beautiful, had it not been a violation of the sacred order. Had Eilistraee not interfered, Vhaeraun might have united all of the darkelves under a single deity millennia ago, but Eilistraee had proved as greedy as Lolth and had stolen the females away from the Masked Lord’s worship. She’d taught them to exclude males from her circle, to subjugate and revile them instead. Vhaeraun’s followers had learned a bitter lesson. Females could not be trusted.
Compare this to how Eilistraee speaks of Vhaeraun's influence in Evermeet: Island of the Elves.
Like... Eilistaee. There are bigger threats out there than your brother But. She's so blinded by her history with him that she can only ever see her brothers influence is a bloodstain on the land.
As I mentioned in my other post, I think Eilistraee is a biased narrator in this scene. I don't think Vhaeraun wants his sister to die for the crime of existing. I think his feelings on his sister are way more complicated than his feelings on either of his parents. And we know when Vhaeraun explicitly wants someone dead, because the text would have told us that.
...
So, to understand Vhaeraun and Eilistraee's relationship, I do think we need to talk about The Masked Lady.
Given how much of DnD is oral tradition and people building on concepts that the games give to us, I think people feel more comfortable engaging with some of these things through the wiki and building off of the idea of the ideas they get from the wiki without searching out the original source. And to be clear, this isn't like, judgement for doing that. Nevermind that the IP is older than I am twice over, that a lot of old blog posts are only acceptable through niche internet archive links, and that a lot the source books are neither applicable to 5e or still within print. I'M personally guilty of doing it all of the time.
Instead, the point I'm making is because of how the realms is set up and how people engage with DND, not a lot of people know when plot point comes from a source book, a blog post, a prose book, an official magazine, when something was fan-submitted and made canon, or Ed Greens personal twitter/discord. They all kind of merge together to create a collective canon. I think, as a result, a lot of people end up engaging with these concepts with the same amount of abstraction. But the thing about The Masked Lady is that they're like. A book character. This isn't just a concept that was placed out into world abstractly, they're a fully fleshed out character within The Lady Penitent.
This is important to us and our purposes of engaging with these characters on a more transformative level rather than at a dnd table. Being a character, we can look at how they behave and what the actual intent of their portrayal was. And I want to show you a few things, because I have an argument I would like to make given that portrayal.
==
A voice called to them: a voice that was neither male nor female, but both. A moment later, it became a pool of utter silence. Then song, then silence. Opposites, twined together, yet somehow harmonious. Side by side, the awarenesses that were Kâras and Valdar drifted to the place where the song-silence was coming from. It caught them like leaves and swirled them up toward itself. They drifted in front of an enormous face. Moonlight bathed the face’s upper half in shining radiance; the lower half was shadowed in utter blackness. A glint of blue danced across eyes the color of moonstones. Masked Lord, Kâras asked. Is it you? A feminine laugh rustled the mask. Masked … Lady? he ventured. The chuckle deepened, became male. Hands moved to the blackness that was the deity’s mask. Fingers gripped its edges. Kâras tensed, and felt the eager anticipation of the awareness that was Valdar. The mask lifted. Kâras wept. So did Valdar—and as he did, Kâras saw into the other Nightshadow’s heart. The emotions that had prompted their tears were as different as moonlight from shadow.
==
“Masked Lord,” Kâras prayed. “Is it your will the breach be opened? Have you—” He hesitated, then forced himself to say it. “Have you allied yourself with the Ancient One?” This time, the god answered. Not in words, but in the distant peal of a hunting horn. That alone wouldn’t have convinced Kâras; it might have been one of the priestesses, signaling the others. But as the horn sounded, a rectangle of darkness with two eyeholes appeared in the air a short distance away, within the tunnel leading to the ruined temple. The bottom of this “mask” fluttered, as if the mouth behind it were lending its breath to the hunting horn’s peal. Dots of angry red blazed where the eyes would have been. That decided it. Kâras wouldn’t run. He’d fight.

My argument about The Masked Lady is this: Despite taking a lot of Eilistraee's visage and Churches Iconograpy, When you look at how The Masked Lady behaves in practice I would argue that this isn't actually strictly Eilistraee. The Masked Lady feels like a new character that is both Vhaeraun and Eilistraee..... but also Neither Vhaeraun and Eilistraee. In that strictly esoteric kind of way, by merging their aspects together they've created a new god made of their parts.
And on one hand, you can read some of this as Eilistraee Masquerading as her brother to try and get his church to work with hers, but on an authorial level? I don't know if that was the intent. For one, I don't actually think Eilistraee is good at being manipulative, she's too well intentioned. She'd have fallen apart under the weight of that lie.
Granted, I do think with both of them being in there Eilistraee is more "in control." Vhaeraun is absolutely ""Dead"" in at least some ways. The piece he puts down representing himself is destroyed in the Sava game, Eilistraee ends up with his mask, and Lolth is able to show off his corpse in the astral plane.
But even all of that aside, I'm tapping in both Ed Greenwood's thoughts for this and something from Faiths & Avatars.
(I'm going to copy this summary from the FR wiki page on dead powers because, as always, it's quite good at summarization. But as always, I've double checked Faiths & Avatars to be sure)
Sometimes, the memory and personality of a deity was separated from their power and true form at the moment of their death, typically by the interaction of the magical turbulence of their death with the magic of a powerful relic or artifact into the same area. In such cases, the deity remained awake but imprisoned, in a sense, though vastly uncomfortable with their much-reduced state.
As such, I think during The Masked Lady era, three things were true simultaneously.
There was a part of Vhaeraun that was dead. That's the part of him on the astral plane. And even that part of him seemed to hold mild consciousness. But I also think a part of him was trapped by Mystra in a dream, and another part of him existed simultaneously within his sister creating a new entity as The Masked Lady, in the same way that Eilistraee seemed to both exist as herself AND The Masked Lady separate from herself as she's playing the Sava game. Because these are gods. Their existence does not exist in singularity.
But. Why does this matter to Vhaeraun and Eilistraee's relationship. Why do I think this is an important talking point for them.
Because I think the fact that they exist together implies a level of respect and understanding towards one another. This is not how this would have happened if they truly hated one another. What happened with Vhaeraun and Eilistraee seems closer to what happened with Zandilar the Dancer and Bast (Absorbed and became Sharess) or (Sehanine Moonbow, Aerdrie Faenya, and Hanali Celanil) > (Came together to become Angharradh and notedly, can separate to spent time apart as times have changed.)
This feels like. Notedly different, compared to what happened with (for example) Ulutiu and Auril, where he got entirely subsumed by her.
For a moment, they were one god. And they could have only synergized as one if they understood eachothers intentions well enough to agree to be one.
==
It's worth noting before I get into this section. Both the idea that Vhaeraun didn't actually die and was put in ⋆ ˚。⋆⊹❇Mystra's Dream Prison <3 ❇⊹⋆ ˚。⋆ and that upon returning to life he started working with Eilistraee are not actually ""canon"" to 5e. They are, like many things, Ed Green-ism's that a lot of people (myself included, because I do actually think he's an incredibly creative person with good character building ideas) take as canon. Despite taking it as canon, I think it's worth mentioning that there is no official source material to pull from for these ideas, because unlike the masked lady, these two ideas exist as concepts to be built off of rather than media to be examined.
We can only logic and reason what happened between them and how it's changed their relationship using everything else we have.
Posted from the FR wiki:
"The Grand History of the Realms explicitly says that Vhaeraun's assassination attempt failed and Eilistraee killed him. However, Ed Greenwood suggests that Eilistraee didn't actually kill her brother. The Dark Maiden defeated Vhaeraun with the indirect help of her ally Mystra, as the Weave frustrated the Masked Lord's magic while enhancing Eilistraee's. The goddess temporarily took her brother's portfolio, and trapped his sentience in the Weave, where it was enfolded in a dream by Mystra. The Lady of Mysteries did this to ensure that the two drow siblings would survive the cataclysm that she knew was coming—the Spellplague—in which she would be "killed" to renew the Weave and magic would go wild. After Mystra and the Weave were completely restored in 1487 DR, the goddess of magic could finally give Eilistraee her own lost power and do the same with Vhaeraun, after having awakened him from his dream."
It was one of Ed Greenwood's ideas to have the two deities reach a reciprocal understanding, and to make the personal enmity between them was no more. More to read here
So here's my take on this situation.
I think a lot of people like to paint the "Mystra and Eilistraee put Vhaeraun in Dream Prison" Situation in a very limited light. In the same way Eilistraee tends to get romanticized as a wholly good and Vhaeraun demonized as a firm evil, it tends to get boiled down to the idea that Mystra and Eilistraee managed to convince him to be "Less Evil."
But, I don't know. To accept the Mystra/Eilistraee tag team as something wholly good, you have to also accept the sentiment of Vhaeraun as someone who is evil and needed "fixed," and I don't think that's ever been the case. As I think my multitude of arguments have implied, I have never been under the impression he's an actual evil.
As such, it's always felt little bitter-sweet to me. I think it's more impactful if they just managed to rub off on eachother due to their time spent together as one. I think it was especially a turning point for Eilistraee, given how many changes came to the structure of her church as a result of that merger. She understands why he uses the tactics he does, she understands that what he's doing is coming from a place of (what I would argue) is sincere love for the drow as a whole, and I think she got a little bit more of a nuanced understanding of the uhh Sexism. I also like to think she understood his experiences more, and that his love doesn't come through the same lens as hers.
Likewise, I think Vhaeraun came out of that understanding that he was stretching himself thin. I think that he learned that he NEEDS to be able to rely on others, he NEEDS to start trusting the outside world more. While he's more accepting of drow as they are now, I think his goal has always been to put them back in power to the extent that they were when he had worship from the Ilythiiri. But, thats not the world they live in anymore. Even if he did pull all the drow from the underdark, they could not and would not manage to be that. I think he comes out of The Masked Lady era understanding that to get the drow away from his mother and to coexist is stability in itself. They don't need to rule to be powerful, they just need to coexist.
You know. It's choosing to forgive. We can't change what we were, but we can start this relationship over and grow something new from it. And sometimes, that might be enough.
....
And ALSO I think they had to start getting along, because it really didn't take their churches THAT long to start meshing together when they fused as the masked lady.
At the word “died,” the priestess glanced down at the male. The cleric didn’t look good; his eyes had fully rolled back in his head and his skin was turning gray. Halisstra reached out and lifted the priestess’s chin, forcing her to look away. “It’s only a weak venom,” she lied. “You have plenty of time to heal him. Plenty of time, still.” “Yes,” the priestess repeated softly. “Plenty of time.” Her eyes reminded Halisstra of another priestess who’d succumbed to Halisstra’s bae’qeshel magic, years ago. Seyll had stared just as trustingly into Halisstra’s eyes a heartbeat before Halisstra plunged a sword into her. And yet Seyll had told Halisstra, as she lay dying, that no one was beyond redemption—not even Halisstra. She’d been wrong. This priestess had a wide mouth and creases at the sides of her eyes that could only have come from frequent laughter. The frown of confusion looked out of place on her forehead. The slight bulge of her stomach hinted she might be carrying a child. Halisstra hated her.
Come on guys, The Masked Lady hadn't even existed for half a decade and there was already pregnancies. We don't know what their churches are like 100+ years out. But, for as much as Ed emphasizes the infighting of the churches (And I have no doubt in my heart there ARE factions who refuse to mesh, that's canon to the text) we are inevitably met with 1-2 generations where the combined churches are all that they knew. Vhaeraun and Eilistraee had to work together, because I think as much as they're their own people with thoughts and opinions and experiences, they are also a reflection of their worshipers.
==
I think, to summarize what I think Vhaeraun and Eilistraee's relationship is like in a few paragraphs
With the way their relationships are described, I think Eilistraee was the golden child and Vhaeraun was the scrapegoat in the earlier parts of their childhood. They become reflections of the parent that favors them, because those were the parents that acted as their main influence. Eilistraee saw Vhaeraun as a reflection of her mothers evil, and Vhaeraun saw Eilistraee as undeserving of the favoritism their father gave her.
This view of eachother was cemented when she followed him to Toril. She saw him and his power as an evil and bloodstain, unhelped when he exiled her (probably out of spite and due to the grudge he had as a result of the earlier years). As such, she worked to undermine the influence he had. And when that allowed their mother and Ghaunadaur to take hold, it was the same kind of evil to her.
Her enabling them to take that power worsened the grudge Vhaeraun had of her, because he knows he isn't the same kind of evil as Lolth or Ghaunadaur, and them having that power worsened things for everyone.
This grudge between them kept itself in the legacy of their churches, all the way until The Masked Lady Era. The Masked Lady era was one where they actually managed to come together for a similar goal. It was the first time they were truly about to understand eachothers motivations, experiences, and perspectives, and the first time that divide between them and their communities truly lessened.
And when they finally came out...? I mean. That's going to change anyone. I think not only their relationship changed, but they sort of managed to change eachother a little.
I don't know. I think their relationship is complicated and messy and such a product of their parents influence on them. There is no forgiving Lolth, and there really shouldn't be forgiving Corellon (though, dnd might disagree with me on that.) But I think theirs one that could eventually heal. Out of all of the relationships in the Dark Seladrine, theirs feels the closest to being one that can be refounded on equal ground and with respect towards one another, especially as drow return to the surface and find more acceptance (even outside of their communities.) Because they are to me, two sides of the same coin.
#Eilistraee#vhaeraun#Character Analysis#Anyway. As an aside#I'm totally willing to completely destroy what I think their dynamic actually is for the sake a good comic bit#Sometimes its funny when vhaeraun gets kicked#I think Vhaeraun does care a little about her even when he's got a thousands year old grudge against her#And I don't think anyone is arguing that Eilistraee doesn't care about Vhaeraun#Shes Saddened by his Selfishness. and I think scared of him#But true hate... nngh.

Absolutely OBSESSED with your work. Can I perhaps ask for your angstiest headcanons that I totallywintdtealwhatareyoutalkingabout? :3
I NEED SLIGHTLY MORE THAN THIS FOR A PROMPT like 80% of my headcanons are angsty (i will absolutely dump paragraphs if i have enough of a prompt because thats what i do whenever we get any new crumb of pressure lore)
in terms of angst my aus are way worse than my headcanons and I'm not too sure what hcs to pull up so you get au infodump since they're more like headcanons about what i think would happen in slightly diff endings of pressure instead of true AU's
also i got a little carried away this is practically rough draft fanfiction i'm so sorry
ALL THREE of my AU's actually kind of work in tandem to explore how I feel Sebastian works as a character, I think no matter what, he doomed by the narrative to never get what he truly wants or have a perfect happy ending.
I'm only going to get into the specifics of one, but the rundown of all 3
Innovation Humanization (lowkey this fic is abandoned im too busy) Sebastian escapes the Blacksite during the power outage and Innovation hijacking a sub for him, he manages to bring Painter with him. He arrives at Innovation Arctic Base, and they go through the process of bringing him back to mostly human again over the next 6mo-year. He has to re-experience his greatest traumas ALL OVER again, but this time done by people that actually kind of care about him as a human being.
This is basically my "good ending" for him, he isn't a fish anymore, but he never gets his legs back. He has painter, and he has time to deal with his trauma. (I think innovation would have a therapist, and thats really the only therapist he COULD talk to about what he went through at urbanshade, normal therapy really wouldn't work.. you need the one that works at a kooky mad scientist base. He may or may not be able to see his family again, depends how evil you think urbanshade would be (if they'd hunt them down to find him so they can neutralize him)
Instantly Human He gets to be, perfectly, how he was before all this started. But he has to escape the Blacksite. Which is HARD AS FUCK.
This is a bit of spoilers for what part 2 to the comic is gonna be but, he has to knowingly leave behind Painter to die (he can't carry a computer as a person, too heavy). That's a "choice" he has to make. He also has no evidence that anything ever happened to him. Personally I feel like not even having a scar from trauma that fucked you up that bad would be upsetting bc it's like it didn't even happen yk? But also I know it is probably what he wants.
Teleported Home Lopee teleports Sebastian back home as his "reward" instead of turning him human like the IH au. Sebastian arrives at home in the middle of the day to his mother cleaning in the kitchen. I'll get into the details after this quick rundown
He gets to see his mom instantly! He doesn't have to deal with escaping the Blacksite! But . He's probably stuck as a fish and in hiding for a whiiile until they can contact Innovation for help. He also involuntarily leaves Painter behind to die in this one as well. He never got to even say goodbye or sorry. Painter is just wondering where Sebastian went (before he inevitably gets killed in a few days/weeks). And he's haunted by that (but also MAD at lopee). He let the kid down. More than let the kid down, he could do literally nothing about this lil guy he was protecting, dying an inevitable death.
You can't have everything Sebastian… Something must suck in some way… Urbanshade has permanently fucked your life
ok now for the details on the teleported home au this is practically a fanfiction that i didn't want to rewrite into actual writing because thats hard so forgive the like, swaps between writer thoughts and writing i know its weird 😭but i hope fun to read regardless!!
SO! Sebastian gets teleported home, Lopee is nice enough to make sure he's crouched down so his head doesn't go through the ceiling.
i dont know if ill ever do final art for this so you get my ms paint diagrams i hope you can bear with me. i gotta establish the setting here, it's in SoCal, middleish of the day. Sebastian was last in the norwegian sea at 9pm (yes this is an accurate time difference im autistic)
His mom is utterly terrified and screams and runs outside upon making eye contact with him. Who wouldn't?! Sebastian is kind of dazed and confused for a moment, he's HOME, and his MOM is 10 feet in front of him. One second he was in a chilly damp concrete box with menacing facility breaking down noises all around him, the next he's in a warm comforting home in the middle of the day with bird calls and shit. That's an insane transition.
He has to think quickly and chase after her even if he's really confused, he can't have the cops called on him and his identity exposed. I don't think she would fully recognize his voice, I choose to believe fishseb sounds different from humanseb due to the experimentation messing with his vocal chords/overall resonance. But his tone is similar to her.
She doesn't want to look at this Thing that's leaning outside of the doorway of her house, but, .. he does oddly remind her of her son.. but he's been declared dead for over 12 years now.. but the hair.. the look in his eyes. He honestly looks like he's about to cry to her , subtly trembling, hunched over like he doesn't want to scare her, but his arm weakly outreached like he doesn't want her to run away.
He's entirely conscious of the fact that he really shouldn't be seen outside right now so he's trying to stay mostly inside the doorway. He went after her on pure survival instinct/adrenaline. Hes so keenly aware of how utterly terrifying he is to her right now and feeling Miserable about being a creature a million times worse than he normally is because he's been thrust into ice cold reality of what he is. Which is something that humans should be terrified of
He didn't even get a chance to ease his mom into it, she's DOUBLY scared because there's a THING/GUY in the house and not just because he's a monster
He asks for her to come back inside so they can talk, she's still really scared but wants to believe its him. He's intentionally moving slowly while backing inside the house to not scare her more.
He doesn't sit on the couch since he's worried his weight might pop the springs (even just the upper torso) so he's just curled up in a pile near it trying to make himself look as unthreatening as possible. And he's ALSO trying to calm down like he needs a moment to breathe and take in his surroundings
She walks in all the way and sees him. He's truly trying not to scare her.. isn't he.. Sebastian was sweet like that.. She takes a breath to steady herself and asks him if he wants something to drink since she really needs a glass of water to help clear her mind
"Heh.. whiskey?.. I know you have it up in the cupboard above the freezer. Used to water it down back in the day. I never knew if you ever noticed." Sebastian was intentionally trying to bring up information that would help her believe he was himself, but also he could really use a drink.. and a smoke.. but he knew his mom hated those. If only she knew he used to sneak out to smoke years ago.
His mother just looks at him with an indiscernible look. Did he say the wrong thing? His ears pin back, he clears his throat. "Water is fine, I was uh..joking about the whiskey." (felt like this dialogue i wrote was really in-character/cute so I had to include it)
I think when they sit down with their waters to talk he, he explains the entire timeline of what happened to him. And once he starts explaining the experimentation she's trying to be quiet to be respectful to hear the whole story but she is absolutely crying. And she goes in for a hug around when he hits the point where he was promoted to Mr-p.
He can feel her shaking when she hugs him, she's still scared of him, but he knows she's trying so hard to comfort him and ignore her instinctual fear.
And they continue to hug as he explains the rest as well as the lockdown and Lopee teleporting him. He leaves out any details about him killing people, can't have mama knowing he's an actual killer now.. I think that his mom knew he was innocent and he is a victim of the legal system
I think Sebastian probably goes to bed around 9-10pm every day because I wouldn't be surprised if the Blacksite had him up really early for work assignments often. So after he talks with his mom for a bit he's noticeably really sleepy because it is Past his bedtime in Norway and ALSO because for the first time in a long time he's actually relaxed. He isn't in fish prison hell anymore!
They generally just hang out for a while after talking, and he passes out from exhaustion. She tries to put a blanket on him, but he violently jumps back while also shoving her away since it felt like another expendable climbing on him. (Side tangent I think he has an unnatural tendency for violence from his fishes in Addition to anger issues caused by ptsd)
He feels awful and profusely apologizes and they make up :)
that's about all i wrote for the start of it, but i had some smaller thoughts about later on
I realized he needs to eat a LOT and it'd be a major financial strain on his mom, I did the math and his calorie needs are like ~14-16k a day (THIS IS REALLY ROUGH but genuinely calculated with formulas and like muscle volume calculations ive done + adjusted to what i think makes sense, this is the Lower end of what i think it'd be. He might need more. It'd be more like 10k cal a day if he's true cold blooded. I feel like character wise it makes sense for him to be medium blooded but true cold blooded would really help him in terms of being Alive)
She basically has to keep him fed on costco rotisserie chicken because that is the absolute cheapest protein she can get (buying a whole frozen cow is still way more per oz than costco chicken) So he costs at minimum ~1000$ a month to feed.
He would be very cognizant of this and try not to eat too much and basically half starve himself. On like day 3-4 he is noticeably really, really out of it. All he can really think about is food and his mom is really worried about him. He really doesn't want to tell her but he'd eventually cave and be like 😓i need to eat like triple the amount of food you've been giving me. so she locks in and gets him some more food. Might have to take out a loan 😭 They really try to get him to innovation ASAP after this because she really can't afford to feed him for more than a few months.
-
ok that is roughly about all i have so far i know that was a massive infodump but i hope it was fun anyways Um. i make no mention of his dad cuz i feel like his dad isn't in the picture anymore but there's no reasoning behind it other than i like it

#when i say i dump paragraphs whenever we get new pressure lore i mean it. my poor friends are subject to it constantly(they love it)#asks#idreamtmygender#data.txt

very rusty doodle, but wanted to try some shattered glass orion :3 i think orion would be falsely-noble and righeous, almost akin to sentinel, and primus (evil) would treat him as such with gifting him the matrix and giving him the constant jesus spotlight.
yap session of my TFO SG thoughts below the cut (spoilers) 。・:*˚:✧。
alright cool where do we start (pulls off my huge conspiracy board wall)
i wanna imagine that most events stayed the same. d16 and orion were good friends, orion was adventurous and d was sternly worried, but it starts getting strained as they go on their journey for the matrix. meet b127, join elita, then learn about the truth of iacon via sentinel prime (replacing trion) on how alpha trion is a false prophet.
instead of orion + gang crashing out right here, orion realizes that. huh. sure, trion kinda bad for caging them all up and forcing them to do this dirty work, but this leadership kept them afloat and all that power completely intoxicates orion for a minute. d16, very obviously, kinda hates that. why are we being put to work for trion's misdeeds? this is horrible, guys!! and orion only seems to yearn for that complete autocracy trion has and he wants for himself. after all, all those rebellious moves was him wanting to give himself more autonomy, more power, and here was a method that works.
they met the high guard, led by starscream who wants to put a stop to trion's tyranny, and d16's the only ones whos like "oh hell yeah im on board brother". maybe theres some sort of orion vs starscream fight here? but its more fuel to the fire for their relationship. something something this post on how d16 thinks hes the crazy one, something something.
jump cut to d16 fighting trion. hes rightfully furious at this all and wants him dead, and is even willing to kill him infront of all of iacon. orion stops him, saying how they can let him live, let him do the dirty work, but d16's now properly scared of his best friend. he cant let orion do this, he needs to make sure this all ends. it turns into a dpax fight, and when theyre not looking, d16 manages to kill trion, a strike from his canon. this completely infuriates orion, and he pulls out his axe to kill d16, but starscream (whos been assisting d16 the whole time) jumps out infront and takes the blow. d16's devastated and jumps after starscream's body that nearly falls into cybertron. holding his wrist, still seeing that hes holding on, d16 tries to pull him up when, in his moment of vulnerability, he's kicked. orion pax, his best friend, kicks him and starscream into the inner gore of their planet, plummeting towards the unforgiving primus.
the bystanders of iacon doesnt see this. they can only see so much from their angle, and when orion steps back, all they see is a bot, energon-splattered and shaken from the attempt on his life. so, what does he do? he paints on the most pathetic, worry-stricken face when he turns to his people, voice wracked with grief when he woes on the horror that unfolded before him. when d16 falls through cybertron, holding onto starscream and trying to find leverage on the edges of iacon's structure, orion rises, taking trion's matrix from his chest and tells the people of iacon that he will make sure he leads everyone into a brighter future, one rid of these animalistic lowly bots. and when he replaces his cog, speaks to his people, and sings of his future, primus makes sure to cast a brilliant spotlight on him, as if a new savior truly has arrived.
just before he can completely level all of iacon, megatron rises from the pits, armed with ratbat, and sets to finally take down optimus prime and stop this. unfortunately, optimus is simply too strong with the matrix, and hes forced to retreat with whats left of starscream, and the high guard. aaaaannnnnddd now SG TFO is just optimus leading millions of autobots under his leadership, unknowing of his betrayal, and a new group of decepticons trying to stop them once and for all.
ok thats all , maybe one day ill draw/write this all (shrug). time being, have evil optimus prime <3

thinking abt how one of the reason ppl dont like snape is that "he only wanted to save lily and didnt care for harry or james" bc even if that was true.. harry was already set to die bc voldemort thought he was the prophesied child like anyone with a brain wouldve known its a fools errand to do that and ik that They tend to idolize gryffindor but i personally will not waste my life for that no matter how courageous i am (and believe me im pretty fucking brave) and if thats seriously such a reason for them then im just assuming that they are then willing to lay down their life for such a pointless and futile gesture to which all i could say is.. congratulations on wasting that life
as for james.. im sorry but that is not something i give a fuck about lol as someone who was abused and bullied for years if someone told me they wanted to kill my abuser i would do absolutely nothing.. in fact my primary abuser for over half of my life is a man who dated and married someone close to me.. would they have called me evil for not giving a fuck if my abuser died?? would they be able to tell me that im a bad person because the life of someone who spent years abusing me means nothing to me??
since some of Them dont give a fuck about bullying outside of being a gotcha against snape fans.. lets bring up the sexual assault then. would they have looked an SA victim in the eyes and tell them that they are a bad person for not giving a fuck if the person who SAed them died?? that they are evil for not caring if they died??
i sure fucking hope the answer to both is no but if thats the case and they really truly believe that snape is evil for not wanting to waste his life trying to get a dead baby walking spared or not wanting to protect his abuser.. then i have nothing else to say to them lol like clearly we have different morals here and we would never agree
#pro snape#anti snaters#severus you are loved#severus snape#anti marauders stans#not all but some of yall are annoying

now that ive completed all of asterix animated adaptations 🎉 here are my brief thoughts on each one because i know everyone is dying to hear them
Asterix The Gaul (1967)
for a movie entirely about asterix and getafix being silly together, this one is criminally underappreciated
Asterix And Cleopatra (1968)
had some fun songs, caesar and cleopatra are cute, nothing particularly stands out in it but i had fun watching it nevertheless
The 12 Tasks of Asterix (1976)
was looking forward to this one and it did not dissappoint, every task was so much fun to watch, my only complaint is that i wish asterix and obelix didnt get through the beast cave so smoothly bc it was my favourite part of the film and i wish it was used more
Asterix vs Caesar (1985)
this is a weird one to me mainly for how evil all of the roman characters feel compared to other adaptations (along with asterix conquers america), bit of a tonal whiplash. i still enjoyed it but id rank it the lowest out of them all
Asterix in Britain (1986)
british people be like its chewsday innit anD DOGMATIX DRINKS MAGIC POTION THIS IS ALL I CARE ABOUT OK
Asterix and the big fight (1989)
this is my favourite 2D asterix movie, im so serious about it, its an absolute acid trip and i loved every second of it, the original song that had no business going that hard, centurion motus serving absolute cunt and some genuinely sweet moments between asterix and obelix. this is what peak looks like
Asterix Conquers America (1994)
a man dies in this movie and thats the only thing i can think about. and the blunt rotation.
Asterix And The Vikings (2006)
ohhh so much nostalgia for this one. its such a beautifully animated and cozy movie, nobody gets me like justforkix and him and abba are cute. everything abt this one is just so sweet
Asterix: The Mansion of The Gods (2014)
This is probably my favourite asterix film (though close tie between that and secret of the magic potion) its what got me back into asterix after over 10 years of not interracting with it. it puts me in a good mood every time i see it, who would have guessed asterix would work so well in 3D?? shame its probably the movie with the worst english dub so i gotta go extra mile (go to the library across the street) to get the croatian one
Asterix: The Secret of The Magic Potion (2018)
a movie centered around getafix is already guaranteed to be peak, what more is there to say? oh ofcourse! the movie also introduces the coolest villain ever and the gauls and the romans teaming up to defeat him. a lot of movies end with asterix and caesar on (somewhat) positive terms, but this time its the gauls and roman soldiers fighting side by side!! need 50 movies exactly like this on my desk by tomorrow
Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight (2025)
ah ofcourse, the one that truly kicked off the asterix hyperfixation, i dont rank it along the rest because its a show, but i'll include it here anyway. whats there to say that hasnt already been said? the animation is stellar, the story is wonderful, the ANGST!! some great new characters: metadata i love you to bits, potus and apothika too, fastanfurius youre cool, but youll never be motus 💔 i gotta rewatch it again now with the sharper knowledge of asterix lore
now that you read it all with great interest its time to tell me how correct i am (slash joke, but really id love to chat with other asterix fans)

hi im offering alternative angles to a couple theories and rambling. i still like the original theories but like ena there's multiple sides to everything!
what if i told you ena is not a soldier but a very overworked and overwhelmed workaholic, and all the bullets represent her worries and fears crushing and burying her, and the flowers represent her dreams and desires, and the gun being her motivation and insecurities, and the area shes in is her mindscape
what if ena was not a mother and all this womb egg and fetus imagery are just symbols for rebirth
dont get me wrong, i ADORE the soldier and mother theory. but there's probably more than one interpretation, and i just wanted to share my own.
i also want to mention there's a lot of undertones of duality, and not just with ena herself. Good and bad, forgiven and unforgiven, etc. one i want to point out is in the intro logo itself. The spatula and the fork-tong thingie.
Spatulady gives an air of holiness. The fork in the trailer is that monster thing she reaches out to. maybe thats evil? another interpretation is being saved and saving yourself. Spatulady being dreams and the fork being fears.
Uncanny streets bright and dark, the double taxi, 2 ways to go to the bathroom, doors being the line between 2 areas
There's probably a lot more layers im not thinking of right now. Im also probably milking it a bit. But i hope you see what i mean
i can elaborate more if people desire.
also i have a crack prediction theory that ena is gonna end up being the boss and has to literally fight herself on what she truly wants. this has no meat to it other than the "im no longer the boss of myself" line and how the boss is so hyped up. Not to mention what theodora says, both in the bathroom and her broken form.
im only posting this so i can look back and see if im right or wrong LOL

charlie redesign!
(don't bother reading this one- i have a 2025 updated version!)

+her gf 😁
(image id in alt text)
im not good at jotting down my thoughts so forgive me if this sounds weird
-she's a doll. she was created by her father lucifer as a gift for her mother, lilith, because lilith could not conceive a child naturally. lilith did not like this, and resents charlie and her father, causing a rift in their marriage. charlie feels responsible for this rift, and tries to help them reconnect to little success.
-the whole doll thing helps explain why noone takes her seriously. they dont see her as a "real" demon or the "real" princess of hell, they see her as a weak little toy.
-she is far too trusting-which is why she takes a deal with the radio demon, a demon who is not at all trustworthy, and has a very thin skin. she feels like she needs to prove her worth to the hell, she wants her citizens to take her seriously.
-her hotel, set up to rehabilitate sinners, has free entry. she tried to get funding to build it from her father, but he denied it as he did not believe it would work. charlie's rehabilitation plan was not the most well thought out, and so she tends to freak out when things go even slightly wrong.
-in the first "series" the hotel does not official approval from heaven. they realise this is a problem when a sinner who is in the process of rehabilitation gets killed, and instead of respawing in hell they respawn at the gates of heaven. when the angels who guard said gates see this, they immediately send the demon back down and demand to know what is happening (this is the setup for the "second season)
-charlie truly believes that. a) all sinners can be redeemed, even the "truly evil ones" and b) that these sinners will have a better life in heaven, free from the annual genocide. she is unaware/only partially aware of heavens strict conservatism and deep hatred of sinners (i have more thoughts on how exactly heaven works but i dont wanna make this post any longer than it needs to be)
-she and v(im not calling her vaggie. might give her another name that starts with v) complete eachother. v is the only one who takes her seriously and believes in her hotel, and charlie is the only one v can confide in and truly trust. charlie is the bleeding heart to v's closed wound.
ok i think thats it if you read this far thank youu❤️❤️❤️

SKELETÁ review
by me, if anyone is interested in what i think :]
Peacefield 4/5
80s arena - rock type of song
i really like the message of the song
the chorus is so satisfying
im so pissed the album version doesnt have the (LOUD) BANGING synth break (thats why its only 4/5 cuz its so low volume)
the guitar solo fucks tho
the closing part of the song is SO ENCHANTING
amazing way to open an album
Lachryma 5/5
i went through the 5 stages of grief with this one and i came to the conclusion that i love it
the guitar sounds in the beginning scratch my brain the right way
ALSO THE GUITAR SOLO AGAIN
the whole album is so 80s rock in a way that im constantly in love with the instrumentals
message of the song hits in a parent - child relationship way TO ME (fuck my parents fr, "im done crying over someone like you" I SURE AM)
Satanized 5/5
as soon as it came out i loved it
such a bop fr like its just THAT song
a really strong pillar of the album
gen how it feels like to realize you have a crush on a person who you dont wanna love AT FIRST then ofc who can do anything abt being satanized to the core
guitar GOES CRAZY THANK FUCK
Guiding Lights 3/5
after 3 powerful anthems this is such a stark contrast, like after satanized ?!
im not saying i dont like it (tho my heart is for faster more banging songs)
its an interesting one for sure
i really dont know how to truly feel abt it YET
tobias really wants me to look inwards and reflect on myself thorough this album and i immediately close off smh
De Profundis Borealis 4/5
GUITAR MOMENTS
never heard a song like this /pos
the chorus and verse 2 are my fav parts
the way he sings is so fascinating, so good to my ears and mind
Cenotaph 2/5
parts of it i like but the whole song just doesnt work for me ://
Missilia Amori 5/5
the band KISS popped into my mind immediately for some reason
so 80s it hurts /pos
so whimsical, so hot
the drums ughhh
i really like this
THE BRIDGE IS SO SEXY "wherever you may hide away im gonna hunt you down" LIKE OKAY FREAK — the way he sings it is just so WAUGHH
a song to makeout to fr
Marks Of The Evil One 5/5
THERE ! THERE !
"the marks of the evil oOooOOOone" is so satisfying
its such a fascinating sounding song
i really enjoy it
the GUITARS AGAIN GODS
Umbra 4/5
intro is angelic
i love how fast the chorus is
the fuckass cowbell is back /j
abt sex yada yada BUT ITS SO !!! so beautiful, like its a pretty song idk how to explain it
"i see your light shine through ~" so satisfying
Excelsis 5/5
as soon as he sang "i will too" i started crying like crazy and didnt stop until the song was over
im so afraid of things changing and going away, but it will be fine, it will be okay
his voice is so gorgeous, so angelic
gahhhh cryinggggggg
guitar solo tearing my heart out
Album overall 4/5
it has its highs and lows but overall i really enjoy the album
so personal and emotional it stabs me in the heart while im also headbanging and dancing like crazy
the duality of the album really works i think
its nothing like how Ghost was before AND THAT IS OKAY, ITS BEAUTIFUL

I don't know why, but divine liberarion au gives me some form of catharism and I don't know how to fully explain it. I never really believed, I didn't fully understand religion, nor was I religious ( even though I was something like an altar boy but for girls, but that was due to being an undiagnosed autistic child who thought that if she tried the same activities as her bully, she would become friends with her and the situation in class would improve because she was popular and had influence. Of course she was a fake ginger bitch, in church she pretended that everything was cool between us, but she didn't change at school) but I spent enough time in this, that the statement "smth smth religion is not inherently evil its only the way that its used by hateful people" to hit me hard.
I never believed that the church as a faith was something bad, more the church as an institution and the far right use faith as an excuse to be bad people. Religion gives people hope, strength to live another day in this world, it's cool. It doesn't give it to everyone, for some people a gay cat and a promising dog-human hybrid a younger version of the cat is enough. so I also fully understand greg, why despite abandoning the priesthood he remained religious, despite the fact that I left and do not believe anymore, I am not able to hate religion and consider it as the source of all evil in the world like most of the far leftists around me, because after all religion is a very important part of european culture and history, especially poland, where I come from.
anyway, this au is very important to me, jesus cool but the fandom is toxic or something, you are super awsome peanut (also sorry for trauma dumping at the beginning, I felt like it needed to be said for some context, I overthink too much about stuff I know)
WOW thank u fort hsi ask!!! excellent read to start my morning … and yes for sure bru . i see a lot of religion hate and like. i dont know man. the hatred feels Very misplaced. i have friends who are religious (hinduism specifically) and i feel like their relationship w religion is . Really healthy ? and lwk highkey beautiful. i think having that level of faith in something that u cant Prove Tangibly is incredible .
religion in general is a beautiful unifying force imo and its sad how it gets tainted by extremists and hateful people . like theres this branch of christianity called kimbanguism (from the congo) that evolved into like a social movement and a resistance movement . it became a source of comfort of faith of solace of perseverance during a really shitty period of colonialism in the congo . its really beautiful i reccomend looking it up . but yah like thats only one example !
lots of people wanna dismiss religion bc of science and call it total bogus and like I dont know man . i truly do think they can coexist. let a bitch have some whimsy and faith idiot
im glad that part of the divlib au reached u bc thats def one of the more important parts of the au for me LOL
