how do i draw like you?
tbh nonny i have no idea how i draw how i draw 100 percent of the time
but i think style/the way someone draws changes and evolves over time. whether through learning or examining how other artists draw and sorta making that your own. like “oh i like how you draw eyes, im gonna try and draw eyes sorta like that.” I know that sounds like copying, but I take it as more like you’re picking up inspiration. you can sorta imitate a style, but at least in my experience you always take a bit of your own style into things. your art is always gonna look sorta like your art in some respects. (however my art from like middle school when i was first drawing looks Nothing like how i draw now. it was v v anime).
I guess my biggest advice on drawing--perhaps like me or not like me--is practice. i’ve been drawing since I was very small (i was the “creative” kid in the class) so I’ve had a lot of practice. but there’s also actively learning and getting better at art. there’s tons and tons of free resources out there for creatives.
There’s also this fun sort of effect where you’re drawing really good and you think you’re drawing really good, but then you start to see where maybe it isn’t so good and you get discouraged. the trick is to still draw through that--draw ugly art. draw ppl with bad proportions and wacky poses. not all art has to be worthy of posting online or even showing anyone.
it’s okay to make shitty art
sdfsdf i got nothing else save for if you wanted a more technical approach on the tools I use:
--I have an iPad and a iPencil that i use along with procreate. I work on a variety of canvases, mostly at 300-350dpi
--for sketching I use this brush called “leaky fountain S2.” which is a brush that is meant to emulate some sorta like. big digital artist. it’s an imported one.
--for lineart i use “The Rusty Nib 2″ from the Rusty Nib Inkers pack. A friend very kindly “gifted” the pack to me cough gave me a link cough so i could download them.
--for coloring, i alternate between the the “Nikko Rull” under the painting section in procreate if I want a more painted look, or just the “Dry Ink” brush under the inking section.
--a lot of the time when i do color, I fuss with layer modes. most often when shading or adding blush, i will set the layer to multiply and fuss with opacity to get the look i want. i do the same with tattoos and scars on occasion too
