#im still not over seeing taylor trensch with my own two eyes

ok it’s officially been a week since i saw deh and i think im finally ready to make the post™

uhhh spoilers and a lot of stuff no one cares about but me below the cut?

just a thing:

- my sister started screaming 15 minutes before the show even started and i was like what? and she pointed and . we could see them moving around in the wings (?) the cast just walking past this little opening every so often and it gave me a heart attack everytime

act 1: (im saying this having seen it from first row orchestra towards the left of the center block so idk keep that in mind?)

- ok OK so I’ve never seen anyone but taylor trensch live but compared to bootlegs he talks considerably slower than ben platt’s evan ? during the opening scene especially he was enunciating more and he almost sounded like when he did christian in curious incident but maybe that’s just how I heard it

- that’s something I noticed throughout the show though, taylor’s tics as evan were definitely similar to the ones he had playing christian as well (compared to ben’s he fidgets with his hands a lot less and he squeezed his eyes shut and rubbed his nose pretty frequently)(he also rocked a lot in parts where he was just listening to other people speak like the principals office scene and a lot of the ones at the murphy’s house

- he sounds ! so proud ! when he says he was an apprentice park ranger you can hear him smiling

- ALANA BECK is beyond underappreciated, her character has so many small things that build up to that line in act two and the fact that she sings the wtaw reprise is so ! important ! how she stands in the background while jared and Evan are talking and they just talk over her while she’s talking about twitter and desperately trying to connect with someone (maybe i’m just dumb and didn’t notice before) but that scene got me good

- OK during sincerely me after connor punches him in the arm Taylor’s evan just . stroked his chest in return ? idk how else to describe it but it was so good

- will roland’s facial expressions !

- “it’s actually something quite beautiful really”

- he said kinky

- he said KINKY

- mike faist in fake connor senes STARES So intensly at evan it’s like his eyes are always on him

- but during the dialogue before disappear he’s on the left side of the bed and he was staring straight past evan and the angle made it seem like he was staring directly at me and he was saying all the stuff about how everyone deserves a chance and i know it means nothing but i still cried

- rbj kept getting super close to taylor and she’d rub his shoulder a lot which i know she always does but you could really tell how comfortable they were with eachother

- mike faist smiled SO BIG during sincerely me, literally the entire time

- during requiem when zoe comes to the front of the stage and she has the crumpled letters in her right hand i actually thought she was going to throw them in my face for a second

- people have already pointed this out but when he falls during ywbf he just . lies there whimpering for a solid minute and a half and its heartbreaking 

uhhh act 2:

- that part in good for you where he spins in a circle and faces each of them like “you, you, you” he was right in front of us and when he was spinning TRIPPED big time and i thought he was going to fall off the stage onto us

- he also whimpered during the ywbf reprise ? like he just stood there and he wasn’t crying yet but he was rocking a lot and making noises

-  DEFINITELY didn’t cry as much as other evans during words fail- i definitely felt a lot more self loathing coming from him than actual sadness for what he’d done ? im over analyzing this a lot but that was kind of the tone throughout the whole thing and he barely cried during wtaw and for forever. ALSO i’m not sure if it was because of the type of tics or not but he came off as a lot less ANXIOUS but more so awkward (and then he’d turn around and internally berate himself for it so also a bit more self loathing?) 

- this isn’t specifically act 2 either but taylor’s evan swears a LOT more as far as i noticed there were many more casual “oh shit”s 

- MIKE FAIST was RIGHT fuckin in front of us for bows I SWEAR my face was literally by his knees I could’ve poked him 

-also: can confirm mike cut his hair (to around shoulder length now) and maybe im just dumb and never noticed but he has a tattoo on his left arm
