I love how Kate was helping Castle parent Alexis for 4 years before they got together. And no one (even them!) acknowledges how much Castle seeks Kate's guidance when it comes to Alexis! Without realizing it, Castle let Kate play more of parental role in Alexis' life than likely either Meredith or Gina ever did. And Alexis has no almost no idea how often Kate took her side and convinced Castle to calm down.

I find their dynamic fascinating and it makes me sad that Alexis was moving out by the time Castle and Beckett got their act together. And that they tried to pit Alexis against Kate without ever giving Alexis a chance to see Kate from outside her father's biased perspective. There was so much more to explore there in early seasons
