okay i'm. taking this as my sign to post this here. i'm a little obsessed with ultrakill, ESPECIALLY 7-4, ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY the song, and i had to put it into coherent words so i could stop tormenting people by constantly talking to them about it.

this is a comment i left under War Without Reason, so i guess it's propaganda for that. (i didn't include timestamps in the comment originally, but i will for listening along here.)

It's kind of long, you have been warned

(I'm terribly sorry for writing so much about this song. The moment it started when I first played 7-4, I was instantly obsessed. I'm not sure if this will take over Deep Blue's spot as my personal absolute favourite track, but it instantly flung itself above all the other songs I hold dear. The entire soundtrack is of course wonderful, but at some point with music, it all gives way to personal bias.

I hope I don't sound too pretentious. I'm not very knowledgeable about music. All I can do is kind of, try to give my stream of consciousness when listening to this song in regards to where we are in the level. I can not stress enough how much I love ULTRAKILL.)

With the new terminal entries stating how each machine was made to counter the last, and the v2 entry telling us that v1 and v2 were prototypes that never saw full production, v1 is quite literally the latest, greatest effort in the increasing escalation of the war effort. No wonder we shred through hell like we do.

(0:00) i am.. probably reading too much into it, but the abrupt start of the song, only drums and that singular note, to me feels like v1's own warning system going off. This is what it was made for, initially- to counter Earthmovers- so its blood is pumping, so to speak.

(0:16) Then, the bass being added in and the noise wavering a bit, as the Earthmovers attention leaves us to duel the one in the distance. The adrenaline is still going, but v1 is orienting itself. It will take this thing down, nothing will stand in its way.

(1:04) We're reaching the main body- built by humans, now long gone.

(1:36) The music becomes reminiscent of Requiem(the theme for 2-2), the only other environment we experience in the game where people, at one point, lived (relatively) peacefully.

(2:08) The music becomes even more somber as we move further up, away from the industrial environments and to the houses, the city on the Earthmovers back. The full scale of the tragedy that humanity has brought upon itself, made to experience in the form of music.

(Is this how v1 processes things, perhaps? Is it a link with the terminals, is this how they ping information to you? Am I reading too much into some banging video game music? Definitely!!! Let's continue, I'm absolutely insane about this song.)

(2:40) Defense system! In order to power this entire thing, the atmosphere anywhere near the entrance to the core must be SO incredibly volatile and oppressive. It's like you can feel the electrical current in the song. But the people had nowhere else left to live.

(3:44) That's taken care of. Focus for a moment. Block off all sound.

(4:00) Can you imagine how loud the siren inside the Earthmover must be? In order to be heard across the entirety of its body in case of critical failure? You're STANDING IN ITS CORE. No wonder it dominates your entire perception of this thing, and everything syncs up to it.

(4:32) Okay. Focus. We're going to the very, VERY, center of this thing. Were taking it out. Let the siren fade out, it's irrelevant information.

(4:48) Huh. This is all that keeps it alive? It's barely bigger than its defense system. There's no sympathy for any humans who mightve been here- the ones who chose to build this, not the ones who were forced to live on the Earthmover because the rest of the world became inhospitable. Noone looked upon this thing with fondness, with love. This is a pure horror of war. Instead of the haunting voices from Defense System's theme, it's. Beeping? This is just a machine. And we are one step up from it. We're made to kill it, and we will.

(5:20) It's over. No further thought needs to be spent on it (*note the way it transitions instantly! The sinister, sadistic undertones of the previous theme of the 'brain' fight stopping instantly. Reality rushing back in- stop taking too much pleasure in killing. Focus on surviving again). That's all that counts. The siren is becoming louder, almost impossibly so; Critical failure, now. This is the priority. Leave.

(5:36) Then we descend, trapped in this gigantic, writhing corpse until we fight our way out, everything we just went through playing back in our head like a human's mind might while it is sleeping, dreaming, parsing all the information from the day. But we are more advanced than that. It all plays back as soon as it happened, routines being refined for future reference, perfecting our behaviour. Why is the human suffering looping, and reaching new heights as it does so? This isn't relevant information. Nothing's left of humanity. Hell has already taken note of humanity's potential for cruelty, and taken a leaf out of its book (see: Mannequins). It will experience the full scale of it.

This is the beginning of the end.

It's dead.

Do you guys ever think about the fact that if Hide had said something early on, Kaneki probably wouldn't have lost his mind so completely. Like. Kaneki began isolating because he became a ghoul and didn't want to rope in Hide, his one and only real friend at the time. By protecting Hide, he also lost his last source of humanness. Hide, knowing Kaneki was a ghoul, was just chilling and waiting around like "yeahhh Kaneki will tell me, he's my best bud." AND ESPECIALLY AFTER THE FIGHT WITH NISHIKI, HIDE STILL WANTED TO BE AROUND KANEKI BUT NEVER VOICED IT SO KANEKI LEFT D: Anyways I'm normal normaling about them currently and definitely not crying over how tragic Hide and Kaneki's love is! 👍

Amri crouches so much that normally he looks shorter than Naia, but he’s actually taller than her

a skeksis says “The Skeksis will ruin the Gelfling so utterly, your descendants won’t know the names of the seven clans!” which ends up being true ouch

urSan the Swimmer (skekSa’s counterpart) has indigo hair with silver streaks

urSu states that it has been nearly 2,000 trine since the appearance of the urSkeks, so Jen will likely be born soon

apparently the urSkeks were kicked off of their home planet because they wanted more out of life

it’s specifically stated that the crystal itself rejected all of the urSkeks when they tried to return home the first time, which is kinda different from the reason stated in Creation Myths

skekSo seems to be the only skeksis that remembers being an urSkek

Naia is really just ready to kill at a moments notice

honestly it’s possible that she’s even more fierce than Maudra Fara which is saying something

normally the third and smallest sun moves quickly and barely appears in the sky, but when another conjunction is about to happen, the sun is slower and stays in the sky much longer

Naia’s relationship with urVa the Archer is similar to Jen’s relationship with his master

urVa says that the resistance is not about war, it’s about acknowledging that thra is sick and needs to be healed, then finding a way to heal it

the Mystic Valley is very close to Sami Thicket and Stone-in-the-Wood, so if Jen is confirmed to be Spriton or Stonewood (or both), then urSan was not far from him and was not just randomly wandering around until he found baby Jen

Naia sees both Tavra and Onica as older sisters

Tavra tells Naia that she’s extremely proud of her

a background Spriton has blue locs and green wings

the trees in Sami Thicket are green and brown

the skeksis also intended to kill every last Stonewood - there’s no implication that Jen was in the village

landstriders are used in battle at the castle and are sometimes given armor, including leg armor

Naia sees that Gurjin has changed a lot since he became a castle guard (not negative change, just more cautious)

the Drenchen and Spriton are longtime rivals, which is weird cuz they mostly have nothing to do with each other but anyways

the landstriders are depicted as being way larger than they were in the film, able to hold 2 gelfing comfortably

the maudras do this thing where they put their palms on another maudra’s forehead if she needs comforting.  this is the only time i’ve ever read of any gelfling doing that

it’s said that Aughra became distant from the gelfling because they stopped asking her for help; i said this in a previous post but Aughra has been awake this whole time

Maudra Fara is described as being like a stone pillar

Deet shows up towards the end and she’s just hanging out with Rian

she and Amri interact, but there’s no scene of them seeing each other for the first time in awhile, they just start talking 

Rian still communicates through the blue fires

the dual glade has a golden hilt and it starts singing when he says his speech

the Emperor’s voice is like black smoke

before they even knew of the prophecy, the skeksis were fully prepared to kill all gelfling

she was really shoehorned at the end to tie in with aor (im guessing)

the Battle of Stone-in-the-Wood goes differently; they tricked all the skeksis into believing that only Rian was there, and then jumped them once they were caught off guard

Rian fights the Emperor himself, and then fights skekMal

his sword ends up being broken

Maudra Fara still dies, but she spends her last moments attacking the Emperor and defending Naia which is so metal

the final battle with Naia is sooooooooooooooooooooo good yall its amazing

NAIA is amazing like what

urVa the Archer still sacrifices himself but it’s way sadder

the crystal shard is still lodged in Rian’s sword

it’s 100% implied that the ruins Jen and Kira see later are in what was once Stone-in-the-Wood, specifically Maudra Fara’s meeting chamber; the prophecy etchings were carved by Thra itself

that might have been obvious but nothing happens in aor season 1 to prove it

Seladon makes a small appearance, and admits that she sided with the skeksis in fear of what they would do to the Vapra, not solely out of loyalty

she also acknowledges that the All-Maudra crown was created to divide the gelfling

Amri braids a landstrider’s hair with ribbons.  idk if that’s significant but i want to remember that

Gurjin calls Rian a fizzgig

after the battle at Stone-in-the-Wood, the gelfling all agree that they should stay away from the area surrounding the castle and either go way north (to Ha’rar) or way south (to Smerth).

Kylan, Onica, and Tavra stay behind to decipher the prophecy etchings

Rian and Gurjin plan on going to the castle to heal the crystal

Amri goes with Naia to Smerth

the book has no clear ending, it’s supposed to be the last one though

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i need to start looking for a therapist in the city because i need to get out of my own head and also may or may not currently want to strangle everyone ive ever met for one reason or another so a stranger would be the ideal set up here.

okay so this guy has been taking up residence up my fucking ASS for the past three (holy fuck it’s already been three) weeks, 8am texts on his commute to work, sweet and spooky seasonal wining & dining, the whole nine yards. We’re taking everything ridiculously slow and he’s telling me that he likes me so much that he wants to do this right or whatever while also keeping me on the line with questions that hinted toward future exclusivity, brought me coffee and a crepe when i was working a 12 hour shift, and planned no less than 3 dates a wEEK.

so whatever we get up to Halloween and we’re like, seven dates deep at this point and his birthday’s the next day and so it’s like, S E T that he’s staying the night and so we go out for sushi and go back to mine, sleep together and literally have the most comfortable movie night in the history of the goddamn moving image. the next morning we went out to breakfast and it was still super easy and normal. he was going home for the weekend to celebrate his birthday with his family and i was going home for the weekend to run errands and shit. so this motherfucker kisses me FIVE TIMES when i walked him to the train and i realized it was the first time up to that point where our next date wasn’t set in stone and the “we’ll set something up when we get back from the weekend” “sounds good, i’ll hit you up!” made me weirdly queasy at the time.

immediately after this,,,,,,, radio silence. heard nothing from him the next day and the day after (which i initially understood!! i knew he was with his family and i didn't want to be wedged up his ass so i gave space) but by sunday i was like “ok there's no way this guy doesn't have 8 seconds to send me a ‘hope you're well!’ so i texted him “are you dennis-ing me lmao” (you know, like a fucking insecure crazy person) and literally before i could even put my phone back in my pocket he texted me back saying no and basically apologizing for falling off the face of the earth.

so coincidentally he’s about to get assigned his first lead architect gig upstate so he’s had an insane workload this week so i wasn’t expecting to hear from him but i was in a good mood this afternoon and texted him a simple hope your day’s going well and he apologized again for being so busy and then immediately came out of FUCKING N O W H E R E with: “i just want to stress that im really not looking for anything serious though, so if you are, you should think about seeing other people. I’ll be around but might not be the classic good boyfrirend thing that girls look for.”  

and like??????? bud, we said we were just going on dates and taking things slow i literally never said anything about wanting a boyfriend but also there were FUCKLOADS of mixed signals coming from his end. I would be perfectly fine carrying on how we’ve been, grabbing drinks after work/class and just basically making out and holding hands with no titles or deep feelings but like i kno that 100% would mean non-exclusive and i dont know how i feel about knowing that i could be his third fucking date of the week because now all the sudden nothing means anything apparently  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
