i really do need to hunker down and really write out and detail My Take of maria's ability and how if fluctuates across verses etc because while yes i do dub it as being "the maria flores effect / sweet talk" with her apparent friendliness enough to ease grandpa sawyer for a time, sweet-talk isnt the only ability so to speak that i feel she has either and that expands depending on verse

but in shine / wilted / sunlight, sweet-talk is at more of its "baseline". she's able to almost lull the family - and by extension, others as well - using certain phrasing. it differs from person to person, so it can be tricky for her to figure out ( once she really knows about it and that its not just her being friendly thats making people close to her ). but its almost trance-like. those affected are somewhat aware still of whats going on, but they're inclined to listen to her if she tells them to do something, go somewhere, etc - some people are able to resist listening : johnny's one of them, though he still feels the effects of it, to a degree. but with all hes dealt with re: nancy and her own abilities? hes used to similar, so its effect isnt as strong - especially not as maria's still trying to navigate how to properly use it. in some routes, she's tried to use it on him order to stop him from going after any of the friends, or captives in dire aus to try and give them an opening to get away - it doesnt work as intended with him, she learns.

in cc / nosy / mirror / other dires? sweet-talk's accompanied and expanded on thanks to when nancy accepts her ( & lee, etc ) into the family. like how my nancy is able to possess? sweet-talk, depending on how long shes been honing it, arguably can also allow maria to possess ( control ) someone to a degree.

like how my nancy uses her runes to track and sense when people trespass? maria adopts her own method along similar lines. whereas nancy can "see" through ones eyes so long as theyre on the property and within the boundaries of the runes, marias form of tracking manifests in ones proximity to flora. she can track someone if theyre brushing against leaves, by their footfalls atop blades of grass, crawling among bushes and shrubs to stay out of sight. this ability, in part, ties back to her fantasy / oath aus and her abilities as a nymph, where her soul has retained that deep-rooted connection to nature thanks to nyuuris - in spite of how many times since those aus she has been reincarnated.
