besides tolkien being the 'boring one' in high school fics he's usually the designated party man because RICH. only exists as the rich black dude who everyone crashes the mansion or other rich residences of, and then sometimes tweek is the resident high school coke dealer (and not the drink).
omg i forgott about that.
'only exists as the rich black dude who everyone crashes the mansion.. of' i definitely agree, it's like people only want him as an npc with a mansion when hes really so much more. with the whole being rich thing, and then he's literally one of three black people on a little redneck mountain town?? come onnn.
yeah so tolkiens not allowed to be a normal teenager (drink, do drugs, commit crimes, be generally irresponsible) but he throws all the parties? talk about double standards. like do people in the fandom want him to be wild or boring.
tolkien being rich is something I feel like writers don't take advantage of. from the one episode where the kids were having a go at him for being rich he got hurt and tried to get other rich kids to come to south park. he obviously doesn't really know how to handle his wealth among the mostly lower middle class population of South park. is it that he IS responsible and let's people take advantage of him and his house to host parties? or is it that he's pretty humble and chill, and even though he doesn't really do.that stuff he's happy to host. or he simply likes partying so he hosts.
anyways im not sure if you've seen my other lil coin posts where i advocate for rascal tolkien, I'd say this ask is from my fanon post. but im using it as another way to keep talking about tolkien because he doesn't receive enough attention. your ask is more of an observation about his fanon so im kinda just talking about my own thing sorry馃様. if there's anything else on his character you'd like me to talk about id love you to send another ask.
as well for tweek, i haven't really seen him being depicted as an actual dealer, more of just a meth head. kennys usually resident dealer to my knowledge. I feel like tweek being a drug dealer could honestly be good for his character. that sounds so bad and addiction is obviously not good but it'd be cool for his character to be more than just anxiety. maybe being a well known (i use that loosely, well known to buyers) druggie would garner a bit more respect as for some reason ppl think you're tough when you're into that kinda think, even though it suggests the opposite. im tired of seeing tweek getting bullied and pushed around when we know he's actually pretty fiery. he's well able to hold his own in any argument and can manipulate situations in his favour (oh yeah? and who's michael). there's so many fics where tweek is the main character and it's his perspective but writers still seem to write only one type of tweek. I've seen: social wreck bc he's just kinda like that, social wreck bc of all his medical conditions and bad parenting, and maybe a wild card here and there. consider that the meth has done one thing 'good' and make him chill.
so im pretty sure i didn't relate to you're ask at all and honestly i wasn't even planning to talk about tweek but my mind just kinda runs away from me. I love character analysises so asks are always open of you want me to spill my opinions on your favs
xx

Honestly though I have seen a lot of takes that seem to really overstate/oversimplify Grian's negative- or perceived negative- personality traits and it feels very odd to me. Like, obligatory disclaimer that im new to the yhs fanbase and and as such don't know how old most of the fan content ive found on yhs is so if I ever mention character debate ive seen and y'all are like "I ain't seen anything like that recently???" It's cause I don't discriminate on new stuff, five year old stuff, or anything in between, mostly cause I don't know how old any post or whatever I stumble across is.
But like. I see Many posts implying Grian is rude, disrespectful, manipulative, vindictive, arrogant, and violent. And I don't *get* it.
I mean. Throughout yhs Grian is actually one of the characters most averse to violent or criminal action. His typical pattern of behaviour actually consists of Grian trying to completely avoid involvement in wild dangerous activities and objecting immediately both on logical and moral grounds, giving in only under outside pushing and often threat of serious harm to himself. And, well, duress is an actual legal defense in criminal cases that can get criminal charges cleared or reduced. "In criminal law, actions may sometimes be excused if the actor is able to establish a defense called duress. The defense can arise when there's a threat or actual use of physical force that drives the defendant鈥攁nd would've driven a reasonable person鈥攖o commit a crime. A classic example is someone holding a gun to the defendant's head to force the defendant to break the law. Some courts use the term "coercion" or "compulsion" for this defense". Which is why it's immediately very odd to me for Grian to be assessed as just violent/criminal period as if that's an active part of his character. Most of the time when we see Grian commit a crime or physically harm someone he has reasonable cause to feel like he's in danger if he doesn't do so and would not take the same actions otherwise. Hell, legally speaking sometimes he's got an outright case for violencd self defense even beyond the cases for duress. Some examples of times Grian was involved in criminal activity include cases of robbery under duress, shooting in self defense, that kind of thing. This is a young highschooler with very minimum history of wrongdoing before getting stranded in a seriously abusive relationship in an incredibly crime heavy city and getting pulled into a string of crimes pretty much all with potential coercion/self-defense defenses built in. Literally everything about Grian's situation- from his age to his decently clean criminal history to the abuse he was suffering at the time to the use of threats/attacks against him to convince him to commit any crimes he was involved with- are likely to be a point in his favour on a legal standpoint and certainly should be notable when it comes to moral judgement. Quite frankly there aren't many characters in the series that id feel individually safer around because independently inciting violent encounters just isn't something he typically does. And having the survival instincts to bend under serious threat just isn't the same as being a violent person in your own right and saying Grian's just a violent or criminal person overall feels really weirdly oversimplified.
And beyond that is the idea that Grian's arrogant/disrespectful/manipulative/rude/vindictive. Which just feels out of pocket honestly. Grian can have a cynical streak, but that usually manifests in calling out genuinely inane bs or like...insulting his abuser(s). Stuff like being touchy and annoyed about their teachers not teaching them anything or calling Sam "literally the worst person who's ever lived" or making snide comments about how fucking insane Yuki is or similarly pretty justified grievances. Grian plays into the trope of the Only Sane Man, which, ive quoted this in the past but imma do it again, here's a quote from yhe tv tropes page on the Only Sane Man. "Alice is a Psycho for Hire, Bob is a Cloudcuckoolander, Henry is an Empty Shell, Charlotte is a Chaotic Stupid prankster, Daniel is the Annoying Younger Sibling, Emily is a Jerk with a Heart of Jerk, Maria Rhymes on a Dime, Franklin is a Mad Scientist, and Gardenia is a Holier Than Thou Lawful Stupid. Looks like your standard Dysfunction Junction. But then you have Isaac. Isaac is actually a very well-adjusted individual. He reacts with appropriate horror to things like Alice's finger collection or Franklin's experiments to revive the dead with science, and the crimes against nature that Gardenia calls pets. Isaac is the Only sane Man and The Only Voice Of Reason in the room". That's what Grian is. Pretty consistently. Grian's the guy that calls out the cruelty and incompetence and stupidity of the other characters because their general community is fucking *insane* and nobody else seems interested in questioning it. Grian isn't wrong about these observations though and it can't even be a case of "you're not wrong you're just an asshole" because he's not calling out harmless silly stuff, he's usually calling out shit like police corruption or the school neglecting their student's education or people consistently forgiving/excusing his abuser or the frequent unnecessary violence and crime going on in the community generally? And when he's in a situation where he's engaging with a kind or reasonable person Grian is actually typically prone to being polite and level headed in return. He's not typically, like, talking down to innocent people for harmless quirks/choices, he just shows a level of dismay and frustration towards the constant awful shit going on around him and in his interactions with people who are behaving like normal functional human beings he tends to have a pretty decent head on his shoulders?
Like. Grian isn't always in the right 100% of the time with no flaws and no incidents in which he's done something wrong. But he's definitely not some arrogant violent unempathetic prick who loves getting into fights and mocking undeserving people. The latter of which ive actually seen implied (maybe not quite as intensely/directly but ive certainly seen the words arrogant, violent, manipulative, unempathetic, disrespectful, and rude ascribed to him as general personality traits he has which just isn't accurate) way too many times for comfort.
#yhs#yandere highschool#yhs grian#to be fair a lot of the times ive seen this take its been paired with attempts to defend how sam didnt blatantly abuse the heck out of grian#which makes sense i suppose cause what better way to defend sam not being abusive than to make his victim look like the real villain#or at least like just as much of a villain

On Impeachment
I just been doin a lil readin. Very little. Because like so many others I had lost patience with Pelosi. But i do think shes being careful. So imma summarize to best of my ability for those who dont wanna do the research:
The Russia Investigation is not the end all be all. There are several investigations on and around potus. Blumenthal et al v Trump (Blu as i'll refer to it) is one importantly relevant one to pay attention to. The purview of each case will inevitably differ despite any relation to one another. The purview will affect what sort of evidence is relevant and can be accessed.
The russia investigation purview may not have been broad enough to prove trump committed a crime despite resulting in several other indictments and guilty pleas of people around trump. The focus for the russia investigation was more on the conspiracy of foreign interference with the 2016 election. There may be some proof of obstruction of justice by potus but it may be insufficient especially since many of the aides he tried to influence simply refused to fall in step. Id also like to note obstruction of justice only results in a fine or about 5yrs jail time. Personally I want more than that, something he cant buy his way out of and something his base wont find so easy to shrug off.
A conspiracy conviction requires proof that (a) the conspirators did indeed conspire to commit the crime, and (b) the crime was committed by聽an聽individual involved in the conspiracy. Proof of聽which聽individual it was is usually not necessary.
Blu is a seperate ongoing investigation as to whether potus violated the Emoluments Clause (essentially prevents bribery of people in office by requiring approval by congress for any gifts from foreign parties), so the focus is much more potus central than the russia investigation. It's also going to help prove that a crime was committed with more quantifiable and/or tangible proof via his finances.
Normally presidents premtively hand over their taxes to be reviewed. While it is not a requirement, it is a show of "i have nothing to hide". Trump is the first to have not done it (I'm sure hes so proud to be first at something) despite many in the general public and within congress asking for him to. Folks have not had access to review his records,... until now...
Just last month (june 18th i think the decision was made) a district court judge finally ruled to give access for prosecutors to investigate potus business records. This gives them 3 months to dive in an see what they find.
Ongoing investigations remain tight lipped ideally so that no evidence can be ruled invalid and the ensure due process is being followed so that an appeal would be much more difficult if not impossible. There may be evidence found already but they cant just run to the papers with it. idk if they will take the whole 3 months. but this was also why so much of the mueller report was redacted was due to ongoing investigations like Blu.
This is likely why Pelosi has not called for impeachment inquiry - there are already various investigations ongoing that could result in proof that would make pursuit of impeachment that much easier.
Bear in mind that things have changed since prior impeachment inquiries. Until recent years subpoena power was not innate to committee chairs, but it is now for many including judiciary committee so they have been able to proceed with more with fewer hurdles to that investigation. So where as before they would have had to file an impeachment inquiry to gain these powers, now filing an inquiry is not as pertinent so early on.
Even if impeachment were pursued there are yet more obstacles, primarily convincing 2/3 of the senate required to remove the president. because some may be protecting trump despite knowing of any crimes he has committed, its that much more important to find evidence that is quantifiably undeniable, because in the end their reputation is on the line and the general public will know when they go to vote. Business statements could be practically receipts for crimes committed. Granted it wont be as simple as finding a check with the memo: "payoff for election interference", thus the 3 months to review the records in critical detail.
Besides all this, even if potus is impeached and removed then pence would be next in line UNLESS he is impeached as well and personally i have not looked into him but it is important to remember as it may play a part in the investigations as well.
Lastly, remember that impeachment is not the same as indictment. Impeachment would simply serve to remove potus from office. Why? Because a sitting president cannot be indicted. So they must be removed first. Then a process to indict them would begin. If his term ends before there is any impeachment proceedings, then he could be indicted, assuming there is sufficient evidence found and presented.
I think that pretty well covers many of the ins and outs of what's going on and that it isn't as simple as some may think. Pelosi did say people yelling for impeachment gives them leverage, though im unclear as to how. Regardless i imagine it would be frustrating to know what you're doing but to have a plethora of amateurs nipping at your ankles insisting they know better or claiming that Pelosi has ulterior motives.
