what’s ur fave sufjan song and why? just curious!!

first of all Thank you beloved for enabling me i love you second of all this is always so hard to answer i got this asked once and i listed a few songs (here if ur curious) but right after posting i remembered what might be my actual favourite sufjan song and it’s majesty snowbird... 

i just cant resist the charm and allure of an unreleased song with no official recording (i blame my regina spektor obsession for that). it’s really beautiful and it’s so blessed that a hq recording of it even exists. i feel so overwhelmed listening to it like the percussion and strings move so well together and the song sort of rises from quiet to loud constantly and then has that really classic sufjan ending where it gets chaotic, very age of adz or all delighted people. i just have to have all my attention on it when listening and then im like oh god. oh god there is so much happening! like there’s so much life in it i don’t know how to describe it. i cant imagine getting to see it live

the lyrics are really tender too. “snowbird, your sister said she needed me”, “stutter sweet, come take forget the things I said to please”.. and the way he sings “is it the right word?” is so addicting to listen to. and so fun to sing! and the “la la dee dah” is one of my favourite sounds he makes, and overall i love how the verse transitions to the chorus. idk there’s just so much emotion in his voice like 😭 truly so much for my heart to handle

it also marks off many of the classic sufjanisms (birds, mentions a sister, a grand orchestral backing, his sweet falsetto) <3 it would be amazing to hear this officially recorded... he is so elusive i dont know if he would ever do that though, it feels impossible but a while ago regina spektor recorded 2 songs which are my absolute faves that i thought would never get an actual recording so maybe its not so impossible <3
