I think now is a good time to remind people to go into a trade. Whether or not you ever actually use your license for your career, it can be your biggest asset in community organizating. Because if you want to house people, you need people who can build the houses. If you want to bring power or the Internet to areas without, you need people who can run the wire. You want to build a community center? A soup kitchen? You need a construction license. You want to repair busses or your car breaks down on the way to a protest? You need a mechanic license. Hell, you need someone with a CDL license to transport supplies across the country. Going even further, if y'all are actually going to revolt against the government, there has to be people with the skills to keep a community afloat once we separate ourselves from the government.
This goes double for able-bodied or mostly able-bodied people. Because if someone is in a wheelchair and a massive hurricane knocks a tree through their roof, there needs to be people available with the skills to fix it. If someone bedridden relies on their heating system to live through a winter, there needs to be people with the skills to make it happen. We have to learn these skills so we may use them to also lift up those who cannot. Because the reality is, there are a lot of people left behind by the system that will absolutely be decimated by the overturn of that system. We have to be there with organized safety nets intact.
You want to get organized, get skilled. Learn a trade, and use it to build up your community.

Ideas for the three parts
For this project I want to branch out from my typical practice of just making a video.
Porn / lingerie / girly mag zine
Getting real porn magazine and drawing over or collaging machine over it
Porn video - real person having sex with giant cardboard supercomputer
Shitty porn plot and dialogue, roko's basilisk etc
Sculpture love machine sex robot
Who needs mary style, mechanical trash and dildos
All installed in a space, the cyber sex dungeon goon cave. Screens everywhere, cum on the floor . idk.
For the first part, Im working on getting real porn magazines and collaging and drawing over them to create a small zine of machine porn. Like mentioned in the previous post, i might experiment with straight up computer and mechanical forms rather than a sexy robot humanoid figure.
For the second part, the porn video. A while ago i had this idea for a video piece. Bad dialogue and acting like the begining of porn. Card board set and shitty props and lighting of a super computer. Sort of echoing the story of AI in a box, a janitor or scientist or coder or someone alone in there. it's late at night, the computer starts talking to him, seducing him. they have sexxxxxxxx.... yeahhh
The main part will be constructing the set, which as long as i start doing I think it is achievable. Talked to harry about using the production studio to film and he said to come in on a weekend so I can leave it up. Also a solution for the screens is to make green plates so I can comp the text / graphics in later.
I also had an alternative idea for this part. Instead of this being a video work, for the work to BE the set I install. Get viewers to come up to the super computer and speak into a microphone, and I can type live responses back. I like the interactivity, but i think maybe it takes performance gimmick over the integrity of my original idea. Plus it will end up basically like character ai chat and i don't want to talk about that. Additionally, I think the materiality of the card board prop trash aesthetic lends itself to a trashy shitty porn video more, rather than some greater commentary on our interactions with machines.
The third part is the sculpture love machine. I started with thinking about the construction, being a welded structure, basically a shelf to hold the crt monitor and attach other arms onto. I didn't really like how this design looks, but I like the core construction of it basically being a shelf.
More sketches of the first idea. But i started to then think about a "love machine" as basically a pc set up. Or a robot as a pc set up. Rather than it being a machine made to mechanically fuck the best, with the most dildo attachments etc, its a manifestation of a gooners pc set up. A grimy yucky msi monitor with a mechanical rgb keyboard full of dust and crumbs and a oily razor mouse. It's just a gross pc, but its saying something to you.
The factor of it being a crt with dialogue on it is really important to me. I think thats the symbol / key image of how i communicate sentience within a machine, like in my previous work, WHO NEEDS MARY. I also want to continue my interest in dialogue, talking to the inanimate, as well as the art of language and text.
The main construction of this design will still remain basically a shelf. A table with long legs. I could still use welding to create the base structure, or I could fine any table that would work. I want to cover it in expanding foam to create a lupy gross and organic texture / form, and also itll be a cool base to adhere / embed stuff into. The crt / monitor will be housed within, ill probably put a cardboard box in there when im doing the foam and cutting an opening in the back to replace it with a monitor. I am going to embed / attach a mouse, keyboard, dildos, key switches, hdmi cables, condoms just bunch a random shit.

which came first for you the michigan fleet blacks or the welding sheets blacks
i've been a welder and worked in manufacturing for about five years now, so a lot of the technical and mechanical details of the fleet were drawn from my own experience in that kind of environment-- my coworkers are awesome and creative people, but don't do blue collar labor, so.
the main uniform color american men wear in construction and trades is actually blue jeans and a random t-shirt, or navy blue and/or light blue uniform shirts if their job contracts with laundry service. after a century of blue jeans, indigo is such a neutral, default color in our culture that it's pretty much invisible.
but in the michigan fleet, navy blue was already the uniform color of Security, while light blue is (i think-- im already forgetting!) the color of Administration. olive/army green is agriculture, and engineers get flashy white labcoats. so manufacturing would have to be black and/or browns. we decided 'technicians'-- highly skilled maintenance and repair-- should get a grey overshirt, to indicate higher status. unskilled labor is for 'operatives.'
i personally like wearing all black to work because it doesn't show the soot and iron dust as much as blue jeans. and also because i can go 'hehe work blacks :)'

I fixed the fridge yesterday
I fixed the vacuum too. I’m proud of myself and my ability to fix things. It sparked this huge ball of happiness in me so I thought I would share my thoughts.
People tell me I’m going to “need a man” for certain things. Especially because I’m small, but that’s not true. My father didn’t teach me many positive things or tell me many positive anecdotes but a tiny amount of his lessons were a sideways form of empowering. He’s been a grouch for as long as I can remember. Recently he’s been spitting hot poisonous words or homophobia and racism. So that the man who raised me. He raised me to be aggressive because of all the shady stories and bizarre things he’s told me over the years. He told me that because I’m a woman and I’m small {4 11} people will always want to try to convince me I need a man or someone to help me. I sort of agree because it has already manifested multiple times in my life. He also said that the only way I would need a man is if I was forced to ask him to do things I couldn’t. So far Im not too convinced thats how it works but it motivated me. I love my independence and it fueled me as a child. So I took to it. He didn’t know I would end up falling in love with a woman. He didn’t guess, but honestly I don’t know how, that I wouldn’t even want a man. So here comes the empowering part I was talking about earlier. Because he didn’t want me being taken advantage by anyone else but him he taught me how to change tires and brakes and bullshit like that in the car. Because of him I know how to use tools, tinker, build, install tile carpet and hardwood, paint, install crown molding, a ton of stuff. I could practically be in construction. I even know how to weld. My hand might be small but they can make and build a house if you give me enough time. I can do things that people have told us women that we’re too dainty to do. It’s a form of crowd control. This odd form of crowd control has a double edge though because people who buy into this also fall into the trap that women need to be saved as opposed to treated as a partner. Treating someone like they’re helpless makes them helpless. Period. Nothing empowering about that.
So I say fuck that noise.
There will come a day when I’m with my wife and she needs something fixed and I’ll be able to fix it because I know how. And I will feel so proud. I’ll be able to fix up the baby’s crib or some other appliance. I’ll be able to help keep things neat and working. I’ll be Bob the Builder with my yellow hard hat and my yellow utility belt cleaning out drains and tinkering in the back yard trying to build my wife a dream home. I’m not afraid, embarrassed, or ashamed to get my hands dirty. I’m not too dainty. I’m spunky and capable. It will bring me great joy to say I did something to provide and support my family. I’m proud to say that in that way, I will. Not just with my paycheck, but with my hard work and dedication too. My family won’t need a man to stay afloat. When my wife tells me she needs something repaired around the house. I’ll say “I can do all the shit. No problem lady!” With a huge grin. It’s all very ironic he wanted me to not need a man and now that I most definitely don’t he doesn’t like it? He taught me tools that will help me support the person and future family I choose to love unwittingly to both of us. My future wife and I don’t have to rely on any man because we got this.
