the problem with the similarities between portrayals of the ‘twisted mind of the killer racked with guilt’ and real-life depression or anxiety is that you get hundreds of pat bateman kinnies or alex cockwork orange kinnies or raskol kinnies who relate to these guys, and these guys are to a one unambiguous bigots (regardless of whether the author was or not) who killed people out of a sense of entitlement and boredom, but who feel bad about it or are forced to feel bad or feel a disconnect from the rest of the world. and all the audience sees is the guilt and nausea and isolation, so it’s harder to comment on the attitudes that caused that pain in the first place because you’re not allowed to talk about that part, or it was good that he killed, or just there’s other things everyone wants to talk about

i am a libra sun, aquarius moon, capricorn rising

i like dark chocolate more than any other; i have since i first got my period. i like gummy candy and starbursts but my favorite are the little cola bottle candies. i like tea and coffee sweet, but flavorful. i like energy drinks and slushees and wanted my first tattoo to be a cola-mtn dew slushee but it wasnt. i like waffles more than pancakes but would prefer a toaster strudel or muffin. i like apples and lemons and cinnamon and garlic and truffle and black cherries but not maraschino. i dont like onions or cilantro or swiss cheese. i dont like chili because something about the consistency of wet, tomato-ee hamburger makes me ill. i also can't drink hard liquor.

i like smells like thick cologne that lingers and juniper and spearmint and old houses and honeysuckle and the smells of the earth when it stops raining in the summer. i like the smell of other peoples laundry soap and coffee more than my own. i like eucalyptus and aloe and teakwood and dragons blood incense.

i like classic rock from my dad and 80s pop ballads from my mom and afi and lincoln park from my older sibling and 4*TOWN for my younger sibling. one of my earliest loves in music was Paramore, and hayley is an inspiration of mine. i like pop punk and the band ive seen the most is sleeping with sirens, 4 times now. i like hip hop and rnb and acapella and piano. i like music that makes me feel alive. anything from violin to screaming, i just like passion. i'm a very passionate person and always have been despite myself.

i sing and like singing in the car, while i shower, and cook. i am very loud but sometimes can do cool things. i like how singing makes me happy and helps me relate to other people and also my predecessors. i like how i feel connected to those before me through my voice. my first time singing in public was my 4th grade talent show. I sang The Only Exception by Paramore because my parents thought Almost Lover was too dramatic and adult for a 12 year old

i like old movies and i used to fall asleep to them at my grandparents and wake up to them at weekends at my dads apartment. i like musicals like ride the cyclone and drama like the fault in our stars and action like john wick and will always be down for a horror movie. i like get out and candyman and hereditary and black swan and blair witch and creep. i like the twilight zone and rod serling has a special place in my heart. i also like alex trebek from jeopardy, matthew grey gubler, penn badgely, andrew scott, evan peters, and my biggest current celeb crush is matt rife.

i like being alone in busy places. i like to talk to people but i also like to disappear to the other room during the party. im the girl you find sitting outside sometimes smoking, or on the balcony. i enjoy walking back into a concert midsong and seeing all the happy little people being happy. i like stepping away from chaos to appreciate it. i like driving on highways at night when its empty and im high. i like watching airplanes land. i like sleep and i sleep in a tank top and underwear but never socks. my dreams always take me back to this very similiar place every single night doing different tasks with different people. i might start calling it the twilight zone. i like to paint my emotions in my makeup and artwork. i have always felt very deeply and openly.

i like the moon and the stars and it is so fascinating to learn about the same beautiful big rock my ancestors saw. i feel drawn to white butterflies and birds and bumblebees and skinks ( they r tiny lizards). i like history and culture, but im really bad at math.

whys it a worthless video essay? genuinely curious on your thoughts :0

The racism mostly!

Disclaimer: i’m white, and not meaning to speak for any person of color! My opinions on this are formed based on what i noticed in combination with what i know about racism, and I believe that in this case i’m right about what i’ve observed. That said, my observations are open to criticism from any black people who might be reading this and feel like weighing in, as my only personal experiences in bigotry are with my identity as a queer person. In short: i’m not an expert, but i do have eyes and what they see is repulsive. Anyway this will be rambly.

First and foremost, The Tragedy of Droids by @popculturedetective’s editing directly connects the Droids in Star Wars with the atrocities of chattel slavery in the americas, and the perceived connection is at times hinted at in the script.

@4:10 into the video “...they’re also bought and sold like cattle” is a quote i caught when trying to find the following time stamps, because the editing is the real beast here.

There’s also @ 4:35 “you can probably guess where i’m going with this, because the social arrangement i’ve just described is one of property and owner. And a property relationship between two intelligent beings that gives one absolute power over the other is called slavery.”

In this video essay, there are multiple times when the visuals cut between Roots and the droids of Star Wars. This is important because Roots is a mini series based off the family history of the black man who wrote the book, Alex Haley, and the scenes being directly juxtaposed with Star Wars droids are the scenes from it where black people are on slave ships or being sold at auction. TToD essay, which was at the very least presented by a white man, wants the viewer to connect robots and black people for the sake of the essay’s argument. TToD essay wants the connection between real black human beings who actually lived and suffered and died in the real damn world to, i cannot stress this enough, machines.

To anyone who is reading this and not seeing why thats fucked up, because they view the droids as people, here’s the problem. Droids aren’t people. No matter how you slice it, no matter how much you love them, theres actually no way for us to be sure that 99% of droids are sentient beings, that are self aware, and that feel things. Droids in the Star Wars universe are constructed to be tools that talk to you and have fun personalities. Some droids might be self aware and sentient, but the likelihood is that the vast majority aren’t due to being what they are. Tools. This is in stark contrast to black people, because black people are, uh, people!!

At 4:00 into the video essay, we start to see the cuts between Roots and Star Wars. Pop Culture Detective cuts between C-3PO/R2-D2 being sold to Luke’s family and a black woman being put in front of a crowd of white people to be auctioned off. This same sequence of cuts is used again later in the video essay.

At 28:20 into the video, a clip from Star Trek: The Next Generation is used wherein Guinan (played by Whoopi Goldberg, a black woman) is talking about slaves and slavery, how there have been disposable people in history. This clip on its own is so, so good. It aired in 1989, and I have no idea what the political climate was like for black people then (im not as well versed in history as i would like) but i can guess it probably wasn’t good!

“...They do the dirty work. They do the work that no one else wants to do because its too difficult or too hazardous. You don’t have to think about their welfare. You don’t think about how they feel. Whole generations of disposable people.”

And then Pop Culture Detective uses this (to me) powerful line about atrocities done to human beings... and cuts to R2-D2 serving drinks to Jabba’s crew. PCD says some bullshit about how star wars is using the droids as an allegory for slavery but has nothing to say with the metaphor, and then it cuts back to Guinan to finish her speech. Might i say: what the fuck. What the fuck.

I can’t find it right now, but i distinctly remember there is also a bit where the visuals cut straight from a black man’s face to the face of an astromech.

And the cherry on top is that the clones are in this video... and never mentioned. Okay actually i’m going to talk about this video’s treatment of the clones and how utterly fucked up it is because i was so caught up in the “this essay wants you to think of the horrors of chattel slavery done to black people as being even remotely comparable to the existence of R2-D2” that i forgot to talk about the clones.

Okay so this video does not mention the clones at all. It uses clips from the clone wars and clips from the prequels movies with clones in them, but the clones aren’t even so much as talked about in passing. The closest we get is this brushing off of the issue in general @29:50:

“Remember, this is a universe where humanoid slavery exists as well, but its presented as unambiguously negative, though not exactly something the heroes are in a rush to abolish.”

Which is said about Anakin and his mother. And its not like they forgot about the clone wars and to talk about it at all! No, they had this to say on it @15:10. See if you notice anything.

“...But what about Battle droids?... Well, the separatist droid army in the prequels seems specifically designed as little more than canon fodder. Making the bad guys unfeeling robots avoids the messy moral complications and mass casualties that would result from an interstellar war. If battle droids aren’t alive then the audience doesn’t have to care when thousands of them are killed in extended battlefield scenes. Indeed we’re encouraged to think of these types of droids as mere objects and to cheer at their dismemberment.”

Drink it in y’all, i’m still absorbing it. I’ll note that sections of this were played over clips from the first battle of geonosis, and there were clones on screen. So, PCD completely sidesteps the issue of the clones, seemingly unaware of the actual explicit enslavement of brown men who are unquestionably living thinking feeling people, in favor of projecting humanity onto every single droid including the infamously poorly programed B1 Battle droids.

I don’t know what else I can say on that besides the fact that some obscure ass clips from the clone wars are used to humanize the robots, implying that PCD watched tcw and missed the episode where Slick calls the Jedi slavers.

There’s other problems with it as a whole, like the essayist completely failing to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that all droids are sentient, or that even most droids are. No consideration is given to the purpose, construction, or make/model of droid into the question of “are they sentient”? And we’re left with the implication that your average mouse droid is at all relatable to a black person.

In fact, PCD in this essay seems to actually imply that r2-d2 and bb8 being sentient-ish robots we’re supposed to empathize with, and the battle droids being not that, is due to a failure/breakdown of internal logic. And not that they’re, you know, different machines...?

I have so much to say on this mess, but this is long enough as it is. In conclusion, Pop Culture Detective’s video essay should have been about the clones, but it chose to focus on droids instead and in doing so dehumanized black people in an attempt to humanize robots.

I’ll leave you with this quote from the video, but edited slightly to be instead about the clones.

“[Slick]’s observations about [clone] slavery could have been an opportunity for Star Wars to finally grapple with the uncomfortable fact that...the good guys seem to have been keeping sentient beings in a state of perpetual servitude.”

📃 - OK SO. without like, spoiling too many plot points, our main character is cara and she lives with her grandmother. her mom is dead and dad is out of the picture. one day theyre getting chased by these people that her grandma knows and cara gets thrown into an alternate realm full of fantasy creatures using her grandmothers amulet. she meets a unicorn named lightfoot and a bunch of other rad people and basically, starts a journey to save that world from the Hunters. the Hunters are an organisation who specifically hate unicorns and want them all dead, led by Beloved, and cara and her friends have to try and stop them from entering the world and wiping them out. its sooo so so good and i highly recommend it cause i have no one to talk to about it please god

unicorn chronicles: i loved unicorns as a kid and read it when i was in elementary school, and over the years its remained just as compelling and well written as i remember and like. god the whole concept is so godamn cool and all the subplots that get introduced are fuckign fantastic and like all the different creatures are amazing i literally cant sing its praises enough

howls moving castle: must i have a logical reason? is it not to vicariously live my fantasy of running away to the countryside with a wizard boyfriend, his demon and his apprentice?? for real though, its such a fantastic story with beautiful visuals in the movie and wonderfully compelling prose in the book, and esp in the movie the whole time travel subplot with sophie seeing howl and calcifer in the past and then howl finding her in the future makes me go feral

penumbra: gays in space. need i say more? im a huge slut for gay found family and especially in futuristic space, and im a huge big fan of the lgbt utopia its created. like yeah capitalism sucks but at least im not gonne get misgendered in space starbucks, u kno? all the writing and dialogue is so incredible and the SOUND DESIGN GOD, alex i know u specifically can relate when i say i would kill a man for sophie and her incredible sound design skills, like dude the dance scene in man in glass p2 you can hear every single individual step they take and every swish of junos dress and i jusT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god its so good, plus the whole the characters help me work through my trauma and repressed anger haha

911: this one is entirely your fault. so obligatory horny on main everyone on that show is so hot i want oliver stark to cradle me gently in his beefy arms oh my god. other than Men, the way it drives home the whole ‘you can’t save everyone, and it will kill you to try, so just focus on what you can do and keep living’ makes me so emo. the way it tackles big bureaucratic issues as well as closer to home interpersonal ones is amazing and i love how it shows people going through and dealing realistically with trauma.

treasure planet: again, who doesnt want to live in Cool Steampunk Space Travel Future? i really really love jims story and his arc, the way he deals with his trauma is uhh very familiar lol and his relationship with silver is like the ideal. the story is just the coolest concept and i love all the wonderful character design and animation, plus the soundtrack SLAPS and everything is beautiful

legend of zelda: ive been associated with this series from a very young age due to my name and as soon as i gave into my fate and looked it up for real i just kinda fell into it lol. i cant really tell you exactly what draws me to it besides ‘wow fun game!’ and ‘god i wish that were me,’ but like the absurd amount of detail thats put into each installment and the creative ways they retell essentially the same/similar story over and over is incredible

guardians of gahoole: so i had the same experience with this and treasure planet which is i remembered ‘oh hey this is a movie that exists and i cant clearly remember watching it, ill look it up :)’ and then it consumed my life for a solid 3 months. firstly this movie is absolutely gorgeous, the animation and framing is fucking stunning and the way they handled owls talking like people as far as the movement of their very inflexible beaks was amazing. it sort of has the same draw for me as warrior cats? secret animal society ft incredibly traumatic experiences and the characters dealing with it. like, the whole concept is just so fuckign wild and it works so well, i rly enjoy this niche genre.

💎 - alright trivia time, so guardians of gahoole is based on a book series and the movie only covers part of the first arc i think idk, BUT theres another series set in the same universe called wolves of the beyond that i devoured when i was younger! i didnt know they were connected for the longest time and when i found out i was :000, i still rly love wolves of the beyond and wanna reread it, as well as read the actual gahoole books. in the howls books, sophie is a redhead! also, markl is named michael and like a fully functioning young adult who ends up marrying one of sophies sisters. treasure planet is, obviously, based off treasure island but its so much better than the book dont bother reading it lol i tried and it was boring. there was plans for a treasure planet sequel that was fully scripted and cast but it was cancelled cause disney sabotaged treasure planet from the start with the shitty release and advertising and tldr we were ROBBED, also amelias concept was much more octopus like and while that wldve been rad im p glad she was switched to a cat for. several reasons lol. uhh i dont have a lot of Fun Facts abt the unicorn chronicles but for the longest time i thought there were only 3 books and then last year i found the fourth book by chance in a kitsch store and nearly had a breakdown i was so happy, like full on i started shaking and crying cause there was so much joy in my body i cldnt contain it.

;; There is this one German movie called ‘4 Könige’ and--... gOd. Lemme rant a lil about it. Aaand Im putting this under a read more because - its a movie about mental illnesses and touches some possibly triggering stuff (i’ll tag them as best as I can, if you need another tag just im me lmao. I’ll delete this later today anyway.)

So there are these four kids that have to spend their Christmas in a clinic, they’re all there because of very, very different reasons, but all three of them are emergency cases. 

First they introduce Alexandra - or Alex-, who jumped out of the car to escape her father. Not because he is abusive or anything! But because she was guilt-struck. Her parents are divorced and she’s living with her mother, a very anxious woman with constant panic attacks and general pretty unstable emotional state. She starts crying when the father - actually a very kind and gentle man - comes to pick her up. Because Alex developed the urge to take care of her mom, she flings herself out of the car because she didn’t know what else to do, and ends up in the clinic.

Then there is Lara, a hardcore borderliner. She seems to have a pretty excited and funny personality, but tbh she’s pretty dead inside. She gets into dangerous situations, and often does not recognize them. Her parents are pretty emotional abusive and keep trying to force her to be someone she absolutely is not, putting their standards for her way too high. Lara once overdoes it with her drugs and ends up running through the streets of her home half-naked and thus also ended up in the clinic, but way before the others. 

Next on the list is Fedja, a poor little guy with extreme social anxiety and just as extreme panic attacks. He is shy, doesn’t talk much or at all, and feels completely misplaced because his family isn’t from Germany. He got extremely bullied in school and attempted to do some stupid stuff, so he also landed in the clinic, with a bunch of bruises from the bullying etc and needs time to heal.

And.. Then.. There is Timo.. He arrived at that part of the clinic about the same time as Alex, though with the small difference that he was transferred there from the secured unit of the clinic. He is aggressive, threatens everyone and is in general a very pissed off boy. He ended up in the secured unit after freaking out because of his mother and-- injuring her. His dad is a kind man, but Timo is extremely angry because he is such a pushover, Timo blames his mother for his father’s attitude.

These four kids are forced to spend Christmas as a group. Fedja is extremely scared of Timo, but has to share a room with him. Alex feels overwhelmed by Lara’s power, they are also roommates. Timo doesn’t like Lara because she doesn’t give a flying crap whether Timo might end up punching her or not- or rather she doesn’t recognize the danger. 

AND THESE FOUR KIDS. END UP HAVING SOME HUGE DEVELOPMENT CONCERNING THEIR ILLNESSES. Fedja is always dragged along by Lara, and starts to open up to her. Alex manages to get close to Timo with her soft and reassuring personality. Heck, even Timo and Fedja get along after Timo realized why he is so afraid of him, and Timo tries to help him toughen up.

The ending.. Is pretty sad though..

The four of them go out into the forest during Christmas night after stealing alcohol from the gift boxes of the nurses. They have a blast, and visit a lake their therapist showed them and have a small boat ride. Lara jumps into the water and disappears for a bit, because she thinks it’s a funny prank, but during that time everyone is worried because uh.. Drunk borderline girl? Possibly drowned?? Lara learns her lesson and they were brought back to the clinic by the therapist, who had a late night shift that night. Everything would be fine iF THAT BITCH OF A NURSE WHO IS JUST SIMPLY ARROGANT AND CLOSED-MINDED AND AN AWFUL PERSON WOULDN’T HAVE SNITCHED ON THEM. The head of the clinic is called and as they return the therapist is questioned about what happened to the kids.

After the same nurse provokes Timo, because she thinks he doesn’t belong with them because of his past, the poor boy completely flips his shit and breaks her nose with a head bump, he has to be fastened on a bed to keep him still and get him to calm down. The rest of the group is left horrified and they realize it might have been fun, but it wasn’t exactly the best idea. Even though the therapist does his best to defend Timo and have him stay, he is transferred back to the secure unit.

It’s not a happy ending..

Either way, I love this movie. It came out in 2015, and since then I watched it like a dozen of times, whenever I feel down or sad, it’s almost like a movie to vent with. I watched it for Christmas last year, and also did so for this year, it’s becoming a tradition tbh. And I just-- I feel this movie so badly, it was very well made and you can connect to the characters really easily. Like me, I can really relate to Alex and Fedja the most, because I have been through similar stuff. The representation of a clinic is pretty on-point as well- at least for clinics in Germany. And tbh.. It.. Kind of takes some of the fear away of having to take another stationary treatment. JUST -takes a deep breath-

Just venting but I get like really really bad nightmares every night to the point where I dream stuff that makes me cry or have related hallucinations/delusions for the first part of the day, or I feel Im still trapped inside the dream. I havent ever told anyone else about it and honestly I'm afraid to. I'm 16 and feel like I'm too old to still be having nightmares every night, especially ones that upset me so much. I had insomnia before this so now its worse cause I'm literally afraid to sleep.

One is never too old for nightmares or reacting to nightmares.Blurry reality is often mentioned in the definition of psychosis, and stress is commonly associated with a worsening or relapse of psychotic symptoms. [x, x, x]Do others know about your psychosis? I’m assuming you experience psychosis and you’re not talking about hypnopompic hallucinations or sleep paralysis. If others know and are understanding, then I don’t think there’s anything to fear about mentioning your dream struggles and having someone there to help you as a support system for it.Cases like this are a negative cycle and difficult to resolve, but here are various things to keep in mind for sleep hygiene and nightmares-

discuss your dreams with others or keep a journal of them. After recording your dream, rewrite it to create a positive version of it, rehearse for 10 to 20 minutes. IE, image rehearsal therapy.

self-exposure therapy: make a hierarchical list of anxiety-provoking events/dreams.Move through the situationson the list at your own rate, starting with lowest anxietysituation until the fear/anxiety has decreased. The exposure isdone on a daily basis with documentation in a journal.

look into progressive muscle relaxation.

avoid stimulants like caffeine, soda, and nicotine before bed time and limit alcohol consumption.

try to expose yourself to sunlight during the day and darkness in the evening to help maintain a good sleep-wake cycle.

establish a nightly routine before attempting to sleep that helps you relax and helps your body recognize bed time. This could be taking a hot shower, making chamomile tea, slowly dimming and turning off lights, listening to soft instrumental music, reading poetry.

try to avoid your bed when not sleeping so bed is associated with sleep (not easy, I know).

don’t browse online, watch movies, or whatever stimulates your mind when about to go to sleep and when trying to sleep.

try going to bed around the same time every night.

exercise a bit if you can. As little as 10 minutes of simple exercise will improve sleep quality.

keep a medium temperature that isn’t too cool or warm. [x, x, x, x]

I just, I have been thinking about this too much but I don’t know how to write it, so I’ll rather share it. (And also, because I don’t know how to draw xD)

Okay, so I have the idea that somehow all of them die and in different times, also even though they share the sanders surname, they are not related.

Prince Roman Sander, was an actual Prince and just a few weeks before his coronation one of his closest friends (Probably a duke or something) killed him, because he wanted the power. The duke managed to get to the power and pretend that Prince Roman actually run away with a young man (because you know, homosexuality back then was forbidden) instead of him being murder. He abandoned the body of the Prince in a far far place from the kingdom. (He was poisoned) (This happened around 1600)

Dr. Logan Sander, was a scientist. He worked near the outskirts of the city in supposed haunted house. He was investigating the existence of beings besides humans (aka ghosts, aliens, fairies). He worked with a close friend, who he was secretly in love but never say anything. Once the investigation attracted a lot of important people his named was suddenly really known. He was about to published the investigation when all of a sudden he disappeared, rumor has it he ran away because he wanted the knowledge for himself. (What really happened: His friend found out of him being gay and freak out so much, he pushed him of the stairs, and Logan broke his neck. He hid the body in the basement of the house) (This happened 1890 or something)

Mario Sanders, was a dedicated father (I’m going to make him with Latino roots because Im trash and because I wanted to do something with it). He married really young to a 19 girl because he got her pregnant. He loved his kids with all his heart. However, he was in an abusive relationship with his wife. She was really abusive and aggressive towards him until one day his friends and kids convinced him to divorce her and he did. He had been living happily in a house near the outskirts of the city, he worked really hard on the garden. He loved that house even if it had the rumors of being haunted. Just a few months after he won the custody of his kids, he was shot by his ex-wife inside his house. The kids started living with their aunt because obviously, they hated their mom. He was buried in the garden of the house. Every November 2, the kids go to that house and make him a little altar for the day of death (See, that’s why I make him Latino). (This happened around 1990 or something)

Alexander Sanders, was a bullied kid, because he was gay. He had depression issues and anxiety. He told his parents a lot of times he was bullied but because he was a gay they didn’t do anything (pretty much his parents were assholes and also abusive). One day the bullying got too much, like really intense, so he ran away to the outskirts of the city and found a house. He got in there and that became suddenly his safe place. He went there almost every day, because school was horrible and house was worse. One day, when his dad decided to beat him up and it school he found that his locker, once again, had the word “FAG” written again, he was fed up. He went directly to that house and killed himself. (He hung). He was found two weeks later by policemen and he was buried in the house. (This happened in 2010-15)

Thomas Sanders, is just a youtuber and medium. Once he decided to made a special video for Halloween and noticed the four ghosts living there, and they became friends. He goes there and share music with Alexander and show him gay parades and how his school was shut down or stuff. He shows Logan new technology and bonds also over pride parades, he keeps him up with aware of news. He showed Mario photos of his kids and cooked together. He shows Roman just how beautiful his kingdom turned out and how he’s I some history books. They just bond a lot.

Random stuff.

• Roman knows now how to speak normal English, but until Mario appears he spoke in ancient English. • Logan loves to read, but now he can hold books so Mario told him stories. (Thomas read to all of them). • All of the Day of Dead, they cuddle with Mario because he just missed his kids so much and wished he could hug them again. (I broke my own heart) • Alex is the only one who likes being dead, he used to fight a lot with Roman for that until one day Mario, as a good dad, make them talk. • There’s a legend in Mexico that said that the first of November, ghosts can materialize. Roman loves videogames, so Thomas go that day and let him played in his PSP and he gives Alex his phone. He brings books for Logan and flowers and photos to Mario. • They all can play instruments, and apparently, they can touch them. • Roman loves to watched TV and things that were created all the time. • Never called Alex Alexander, unless you want the rage of a teen ghost towards you. (Alexander is the name of his father, and as you can imagine, he hates his father) • Alex was 18 when he killed himself. Mario and Logan were 25 and Roman 20. • I can picture Mario and Logan developing feelings for each other and that would be amazing! A ghost discovering his own sexuality after years of being dead. • When Alex first notice he’s a ghost he was so freaked out, that he almost destroyed the house. • In the anniversary of Roman’s dead, Logan help him. He tells Roman historical facts and about how horrible was the dead of the Duke that ended up as a king. • In the anniversary of Logan’s dead, Alex help him. He talks about how better is for the LGBTQI+ community lately and how he’s actually a well-known scientist. • In the anniversary of Mario’s dead, all of the help him. They all agree he’s the one that probably suffered the most, so they spend all they cuddle in the floor and let him talks about his kids and they even watched TV together. • In the anniversary of Alex’s dead, Mario helps him. He just assured him no one else would be bullied and that, even if he had to killed himself, he’s love in that house. • No, but imagine one day while watching tv (because they can’t do a lot) a Disney movie popped out and Roman is so so so in love. • Alex telling Roman about Disney movies.

Supercorp social media au

This comes right after my last supercorp fic https://magnificentninjadragon.tumblr.com/post/160782862023/supercorp-the-cook-off although it can be read completely separate Supercorp vs Karalena It started Sunday when a photo of their first kiss ended up on the front page of at least fifteen different tabloids all labeling Kara the mystery blond that is all except a few who managed to recognize Kara as a reporter from Catco. Within hours the internet was buzzing about the new power couple of national city. Some of the internet was not so kind though as apparently a good many people seemed to believe that Lena was dating supergirl and some of the tabloids had speculated as much. That speculation certainly did not help with the current situation which was the ship war that had taken over the media over night Kara vs Supergirl who was the woman holding Lena Luthor’s heart. On thursday lena had posted a picture of her and Kara cuddled up and watching a movie that had ignited another wave of hysteria from shippers she may have posted a few more of the tired kryptonian puppy relaxing and singing along to disney music from the various movies that they were marathoning that night. They ended up igniting a new wave of shippers with the pure adorableness that was the couple. Kara had gained over 1,500 instagram and twitter followers that day her articles posted online were filled with comments most of them pertaining to her love life not her writing by that night Lena had insisted on apologizing at least fifteen times. Each time Kara had reassured her girlfriend that dating her was worth what ever anyone said and besides it was kind of hilarious that she was in a ship war against herself. To which Lena had just rolled her eyes and snuggled up with her girlfriend more, that’s how they ended up where they were right now next to winn surrounded by the super friends going over different social media feeds on the ship war. It had been Kara’s idea to look through the feeds. Winn had desperately tried to talk them out of it, later the group found out that was because Winn had apparently started a blog shipping Karalena at some point and was trying to hide it from the group. The ship war had escalated and it may or may not have helped that Winn had a blog on both sides of the ship war that happened to pop up with never before seen pictures of the two. Catco had already posted an article about it and the group had spent some time convincing Kara not to out right bother the person who wrote it at work and to instead just to troll with them. Kara had responded with a pout that Alex managed to shut down luckily for the rest of the group. So rather than mess with her co workers on it she decided why not mess with some of the people on twitter while they were browsing. Lena later decided to join in on the fun watching things blow up over a few words, she was starting to get the appeal of social media now. @lenaho: So who has noticed that @LcorpLena has a type @Karathewriter: @lenaho I noticed that @KAralenaOTP: did @Karathewriter just confirm her relationship with @LcorpLena @KAralenaOTP: im freaking out my @lenaho: so she knows her girlfriend has a thing for blondes this is gold @LcorpLena: I don't know about all blondes but i certainly have a thing for @Karathewriter @theshippiest: #Karalena is so cute #moms why are they doing this to us The DEO had not found it nearly as amusing seeing as it had shot Kara into the spotlight now they had to arrange for J’onn to appear as Supergirl while Kara was reporting in order to make sure no one suspected Kara of being supergirl. For the whole week J’onn was angry with Kara for it. Some of the agents had taken to trolling online J’onn blamed Winn’s influence on them he had let them all get far to caught up in the whole shipping war. Catco had taken the Karalena stance on the ship war of course and it may very well have been a persistence around the office that people were scared that if Kara found out about the ship war she would end up dejected or hurt so many employees had gone out of the way to make sure that the young reporter had not spent too much time on social media always distracting her with in minutes it may not have worked but it had certainly warmed Kara’s heart once she had figured out what the other employees were doing for her. Snapper had even pushed her towards a non super related story telling her that they had enough supergirl content for a while it was a lie seeing as later that night James would get asked by Mr. Carr to get in contact with the hero but it was the thought that counted was it not. 2016 Music Madness

Super super overdue but again I wanted to commemorate another good year in music and I definitely think there are some fantastic songs out there despite all the viral ones that only became famous because of challenges-memes. For those who read last year’s list you’d also notice I added new categories (signposted as ‘new’). Hope everyone will try to check out these songs just to get out of your comfort zone but also so that we can discuss them (and fangirl over the artists(!!))

Album of the Year Carly Rae Jensen - Side B

This was a tough one. I’m super biased because I almost awarded Emotion AotY in 2015 but it was beaten by Adele’s later release of 25. This year I was still happily listening to the songs in Emotion but around March Carly released the *songs that didn’t make the cut/didn’t make it to Emotion* and I was so f@*%ing ecstatic because I wanted more of her 80s synth-pop songs. Will be discussing my faves from Side B below.

The reason it was tough was because I also just discovered Alessia Cara’s Know-It-All (released late 2015) in 2016 and I really really like her songs too (pun intended). She is so refreshing not just with her non-pretentious MVs but it’s the first time since Taylor, Adele and Carly that I truly thought the lyrics were great and relatable and were written by a true artist (or maybe I’ve just not tried to discover that many artists in a hot minute). So I’m giving Know-It-All the runner-up award to Best Album of 2016 (even though technically it’s a 2015 album).

Don’t wish to belabor this but I just find it a recurring experience of mine that the first single off any album I almost always am annoyed by. Just like when I initially thought Adele’s Hello was annoyingly sombre when it first came out (because she said it was kind of a ‘revival’ album–of her coming to terms with everything that’s happened in her life so far, so I wasn’t expecting Hello to be the first single off 25, was expecting something more upbeat and revival-y). Anyhoo, Youth from Blue Neighbourhood and Marvin Gaye from Nine Track Mind annoyed the f%@# out of me too initially. Probably because they were always on the radio but I guess like Hello they were songs that just grew on you more than anything. And for the record I understand why the song was named Marvin Gaye but my goodness if he was gonna name a song after a classic artist I feel that the song should’ve at least channeled the artist’s style at the very least? It happened that it was only alluding to the mood that Marvin Gaye songs put people in which is such a waste because Marvin Gaye was a true thespian and master of his craft (listen to What’s Going On and you’ll know what I mean).

Fave New Artist (New) Zara Larsson

People are calling her the ‘White Rihanna’ which I think is unfair because although there are similarities in their music Rihanna is such a queen in her genre and Zara is just starting out (she’s only 19!! Omg I feel so unaccomplished) but I have confidence that this girl is gonna go far (not to say she’ll be Taylor Swift big but I think we haven’t seen much of her yet/she’s only just begun).

So its now been around two months since last post. There has been some changes, but no major changes I would say. Lets see

Work:

I helped Agatha  with her school project, a relatively quick project that went pretty smooth. I cant say I had too much of a say in it though, as she had a very clear idea about how she wanted to go through with it. We had a launch at the top of The Thief with loads of readings and performances. Fun, but also a bit exhausting. I did it for free, on a very short notice as a friend. Ive been doing that quite a lot for her. Its still mainly fun, but I am also a bit unsure about her processes sometimes. 

I also made a catalogue for Vårutstillingen that went pretty well recently, so they already hired me to do a project for them in August. Other then that I helped Trollkrem with a little floor text for their exhibition at HaIK, and I am still working with Tableau on their website. She keeps on changing stuff witch is kind of frustrating (Tove), but Im just going with the flow and helping her when she needs me. Easier that way, + we need to keep a good tone. Hopefully we are soon done!

Me and Morri are also working together on a project atm for Stavanger Kunstsenter, together with Geir Haraldseth. Its been quite nice I must say - we have a quite nice tone and inspire each other I think. We have been thinking about doing more work together in the future and I have been thinking a lot about this lately. I am thinking about doing a career change next winter, and I think if I have people like him to work with that would make a change like that quite fruitful. I am also potentially working with this other guy, Alex on a small project but we keep on extending the deadline and now he is considering moving to England, so lets see..

Basically what I need to do it to sit down properly and think though things. Step by step, and gradually make the rigght moves. It would be great to go into the summer having thought properly about this so I can spend some time to digest and take it in. I need to head full on this fall if I am going to make it work, and I need to make a proper busines plan and some savings. Ideally I need to save up money to cover my basics for about 6 months. Thats about 70.000 NOK. Can I save up 70.000 next fall?? Next week me, Harald and Saga will have a study group about a book Harald recomended. I will buy the book today. 

At Bleed Ive been working a lot with Visit Norway and a project for them regarding safety in nature. Ive been given a lot of responisibility, and its been quite fun. I went to Preiestolen for a week f.ex to Art Direct 5 movies. Now Im finalizing the project and am hoping that it will end up smooth. 

Im also the leader of Grafill Grafisk design, and would really like to make a bit more out if it. I dont think I am goving it the attention it needs atm, so I will talk more with Sara about this today. How can we make the most out of this??

Relations:

Me and Ingemar still hang out a lot as friends and that’s working out relatively fine. Hes still a bit much to handle sometimes though. Last week he started dating someone new. A 22 year old, super sweet and stunning guy from Rogaland. At first I was weirdened out by it and not quite sure how I felt. Was I jealous? Did I feel old? What was I supposed to feel? Everyone also got quite drunk and they started kissing very openly in the middle of the room, in fornt of everyone. I think my reaction was that I just got a bit numb and not sure how to focus my thoughts. I ended up sitting down with them and talking with the new guy and I really liked his personality.  I think he is good for Ingemar, and I think I can get used to seeing more of him, and also letting my friendship with ingemar more normalized. It feels kind of like he is a younger brother, or something a long those lines.

After the last time I wrote, I asked Germain what he wanted, and he was honest and straight forward about him not being in the right space to move forward with me. He got in touch agin a few weeks ago and we met. We tried to have sex, and the chemistry was gone. I think I got a bit overwhelmed by it all. It has felt like so many failures and rejections in the love-sector lately and I think it definitely put me a bit down mentally. I had a long break from both seeing and meeting up for hookups with boys, with was really good for me. A slow build up that made things more calm and made me stronger and more focused mentally. Having that said I recently had a setback. After easter holiday I sort of went all overboard and digged bit too deep into things - meaning sex. It was soooo nice to have sex, feel passion, skin and lust again after such a long break that I sort of just lost myself a bit into it again. During the past of 4 weeks Ive probably had 15 sex partners, at the most seeing 3 boys in one day. Why? And should I feel bad a bout it? A lot of it is really hot, but I often end up feeling broken in the aftermath. Like I give a little bit of myself each time, and then I loose grip on myself a bit and get this feeling of not begin in control anymore. Its like just urging for more more more more and then then more you get you get this bad tasting sauce. For instance, I met up with a two different guys the to days prior to my lat meeting with Germain. How could I possibly find more room for him from a passionate point of view after that? I could hardly even get it up.. Also, because Im on PreP Ive had more unprotected sex. This again has lead to me now having a STD (not sure which one yet), with is also extremely downgrading, as its only about a month since I tested myself the last time. I am working as a voluntair - testing people for STDs for goods sake. I should be able to have a more grounded relation to sex myself too then no? I think maybe the goal here needs to be that I can see guys for sex, but that I need to cut down on my availability again, as it gets a bit too much into my head. Once every now and then is OK, but not more then once per week. You can do that. Other boys.. Ive met a few great guys here and there, but I am not in a place where I am ready to chase any one right now. Why can’t someone chase me for a change? Lets see what time brings. Vegard and Sigbjørn has a very cute friend called Ole. He added me on both instagram and Facebook so maybe thats good for something. Max is also in town now for a few weeks. Maybe Ill send him a text and checks out if he wants to meet up for a bottle of wine some day next week. Caution though: Max really got to my feelings the last time. Better safe then sorry?

Roger texted me yesterday, like he usually does every 3 - 4 months. Sweet messages. Hes thinking about looking for a new job. Exciting and scary for him I guess. Im missing his lust for me a bit still. 

Friends

I have been hanging out a lot with some new friends of mine quite a lot lately - Vegard and Sigbjørn (a couple). We have met almost every week, and have been on holiday trips together as well as going out quite a lot - also togehter rwith Ingemar actually. Sort of a new unit. Its been really nice to bring in some new perspectives and positive people in my life. I feel I can be 100% myself, and talk about the good and the bad, and they generally make me feel very secure and rooted. We are also heading to Tel Aviv this summer - looking forward.

Life

Someone read my tarrot card last week. It said I had 3 previous love interests that all were differetn and very important for my past developemnt. Duh: Roger, Antti and Tim. It also said that I was in a good place professionally, that I was a good leader, a high performer and ambitioius. For the future it said I would go though a huge change thatwould be really challenging and make me see life in a different way. I could expereince health issues, so I should look after myself. Im thinking this change might be 2018. Lets make the change as proactive and challenging in the rigth ways so I can land safely on the other side...

Im going for a weeding to Deepti my first girlfriend this week in Kristinasand. Indina/Norwegain wedding with loads of lovely old friends. I actulaly think it will be really nice

The week after Im heading to Lisboa for a weeked to viit a guy I met in Kirgizistan last summer. He is tiny, has a big dick, and a scooter. lol.. I think it will be a fun weekend. 

Im going to Tel Aviv this summer with Benni, Vik, Kris, Vegard and Sigbjørn. Were watching Britney.. hehe. wil be fun. 10 days in a huge appartment. After that Im heading to Kenya to hang with Carmen. Were doing safari, beach and some mountain hiking. Ending it all off in Berlin. Probably broke as hell...

West Week Ever: Pop Culture In Review - 5/12/17

In movie news, it was reported by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola that there will be an R-rated Hellboy reboot film. Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen will star Stranger Things‘s David Harbour in the title role, and will be directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent). As most fans were holding out for a Hellboy 3, this news came as quite a surprise. Still, it won’t star Ron Perlman, nor will it be directed by Guillermo Del Toro, so folks are a bit hesitant. I think Harbour will be good in the role, and I remember enjoying The Descent, so I think the franchise is in good hands if the intent is to scare the audience.

We got a trailer for Blade Runner 2049, which did absolutely nothing for me. Back when I was in college, I did a summer in London where I was supposed to be learning about globalization. Instead, the professor had us watch Blade Runner. I still don’t know how the two topics tied together. Anyway, I hated that movie. It tried too hard. Like Peter Griffin describes The Godfather, it insists upon itself. It wants to be so deep and mysterious, with its whole “Is Decker a Replicant?” thing. I just wasn’t a fan. So this sequel isn’t exactly on my Must Watch list, which is a shame seeing as how I’ve loved Ryan Gosling since Breaker High. Yup, even in Young Hercules. Some folks seem excited for this film, though, so good for them I guess.

Over on cable, shows are playing musical chairs. The Untitled Black-ish Spinoff that we talked about last week may now be moving to Freeform It seems that the audience that tuned in were a bit lower than what ABC would like to see for a Wednesday night, but the demographics are perfect for the show to be on Freeform. Meanwhile, fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles is moving from MTV to Spike TV (which will soon be rebranded as The Paramount Network). I never watched Shannara, but it didn’t seem like the kind of thing that belonged on MTV, except for the fact that it starred pretty teens. I’m not even sure Spike is the right home for it, either, but maybe this is a hint as to how they’re planning to use The Paramount Network.

Speaking of cable, out of nowhere it was announced that Donald Glover would be the showrunner for a Deadpool animated series on FXX. Yeah, that Donald Glover. It’s odd that we’re not getting season 2 of Atlanta until 2018 at the earliest because of his other commitments, but he’s gonna have time to do this? He’ll be running the show with his brother Stephen, but it still sounds like a tall order. I’d rather have Atlanta. Plus, this just feels like it’s gonna be Marvel’s Archer. 10 episodes have been ordered for a 2018 debut.

On basic TV, Modern Family scored a 2-season renewal, with the grown-up cast members getting a raise from $350,000 to $500,000 an episode. The contract negotiations came down to the wire, but in the end ABC was able to keep its Wednesday night lynchpin. I honestly feel like this show should’ve ended 3 years ago. I stopped being able to really relate to them when I realized they whole upper middle class status made their lives unrealistic. They never seem to have money problems, they can take trips and do whatever they want. It’s funny – the same reasons I hate Roseanne (they were so damn poor) is what I feel are missing from Modern Family. Plus, there’s the elephant in the room in the form of Ariel Winter. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, she has grown up into what some might call “hot as shit”, yet they still frump her up on the show because her character, Alex, is supposed to be mousy next to Sarah Hyland’s Haley. If they really want to make these final (yes, I’m calling it: final) two seasons interesting, they will address this fact, and force Haley to realize she’s no longer the “hot daughter”. That might actually make me watch the show again.

Meanwhile, The CW officially ordered Black Lightning to series. This would typically be seen as good news, but I can’t help but feel like the Berlantiverse is too big and unwieldy at this point. Whenever a new show is introduced, the existing shows suffer. Everyone loved Arrow until The Flash came along. Then, they loved The Flash, yet felt Arrow had slipped. Then Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow debuted, and The Flash suffered while Supergirl was praised. This has been something of a rebuilding season across the board. Supergirl had to adjust to a network switch, while Legends saw an increase in quality. Arrow saw a return to form, while The Flash is doing whatever it’s doing over there. Flashpoint or some shit. The point is that the existing shows are finally heading in the right direction, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to introduce a new hero. In fact, I feel like Legends should be a proving ground. If a member of that team becomes a breakout fan favorite, then they get a spinoff. I’d be fine with Black Lightning as a member of the Legends, but I don’t know if there’s enough meat on that bone for him to have his own series. And can you imagine the FIVE-WAY crossover we’re gonna end up with next season?! I was already disappointed by this season’s uneven four-way, but to add another show to that? Sure, it’ll be a weeklong event, but it isn’t necessary.

So last Thursday night I saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. I didn’t mention it in last week’s post because I’m trying to switch things up. It’s unrealistic of me to expect that all of you are able to see a film on opening night, and I also feel like you’re less likely to read my post if you think I might spoil something. So, I figured it best to sit on it a week so we’d all be on the same page. Anyway, what did I think of the film? I LOVED IT! I might even love it more than the original.

I’d say that this is probably the most emotional MCU film, as it’s more about family and belonging than it is about Infinity Stones and Winter Soldier. Star Lord’s story really hit home as a fellow child of the 80s, raised by his mom, who also didn’t have his father in his life. Now, instead of being a god, my dad simply died. But I’m sure I probably also wished Michael Knight was my dad at some point in my childhood.

What’s the movie about? Well, the Guardians are split up after a caper gone wrong. Half of the crew stays behind to fix their ship, while the other half go off with Star-Lord’s long lost father, Ego. But all is not as it seems with Ego. And that’s about all I’ll say about that. I can’t think of a single that I didn’t like about the film. Actually, scratch that. There was one thing: The Watchers. They just looked hokey, and I would’ve been fine if they’d never been introduced in the MCU. That kind of stuff belongs in the Fantastic Four Fox movies, but I like to think the MCU is more grounded than that. Their appearance looked and felt cheap to me, but luckily it’s only for a split second, unless you count their after credits appearance, too. Maybe it’s just because I typically hate most things about Cosmic Marvel, but the Guardians movies have slowly brought me around.

Internationally, the film has already crossed the $500 million mark, so I think it’s safe to say it’s success. They’re already talking about Vol 3 which, supposedly, will set up the next decade of the MCU. While I’m not entirely sure how I feel about that (again, I’m not a huge fan of Space Marvel), I’m eager to see how they pull it off. For all these reasons, Guardians of  the Galaxy Vol 2 had the West Week Ever.
