omg thank you SO MUCH for asking and i apologize in advance for the infodump because i have been thinking about these alien plant people for literal years now, i love them so much. I first started thinking about these guys a little after TFA, because of an oc i was working on for a lil star wars fic that i have mostly abandoned by now--so sorry to the like 3 people who were reading my sidon ithano fic but tlj/tros really killed whatever passion i had for the franchise for a good long time :/ but Mando is great so i've been thinking about them'st again...

anyway i am sticking this under a cut because a) im very attached to these characters and if someone steals my shit i will kermit and b) sweet jesus this got so long, i am so sorry

in the SW universe at least, these plant people (that i still for the life of me cannot settle on an actual name for) were the primary inhabitants of a dwarf planet way out in wild space; they had a pretty symbiotic relationship with a race of sentient insectoid people (basically human-sized bees) who could travel between the planet and their home on one of its three moons (affectionately called the Honey Moon). what the plants didn’t know was that the bees were also able to travel to different planets, and had been doing so for a couple centuries before everything went to shit--but we’ll get to that in a bit.

the plant people weren’t particularly interested in the galaxy around them--they had a decent understanding of astronomy and cosmology, but little cultural interest in journeying to the stars. since the planet was pretty small and distant from the galactic core, it was pretty rare that a visiting ship would even pass them by, and scanners didn’t register them as genuine life-forms separate from the natural flora, so even if someone happened to end up out there it’s not the sort of place anyone would really choose to land. on rare occasions, a pirate or smuggler would try to hide out on what they thought to be an unoccupied planet, and would return to the Outer Rim with tales of mobile, sentient trees and bizarre, organic cities found on some uncharted world; likewise, occasionally a plant person would turn up at the local bar with tales of crashed space-ships and strange aliens that seemed almost like people. neither would ever be taken seriously.

the plants aren’t a particularly verbal people. they understand spoken language (a somewhat-modified Basic, at least, which is what the bees speak hmm i wonder where they picked that up from) and many can talk, but most don’t really bother learning to do so. mostly they rely on an ESP-like combo of pheromones and body language, highly attuned to the point that it’s essentially a kind of telepathy. i think i mentioned in the tags on that post that my character Antheia is sorta kinda a jedi? for these people, force sensitivity tends to manifest as an extra-extra-sensory-perception that causes you to be hyperaware of every living thing in your environment, not just the other sentient ones.

this made her uhhh extremely off-putting as a youth, easily distractable and often disinterested in the other people in the small community she grew up in, where she was already pretty disliked to begin with. there’s quite a lot of diversity among the plant people (a wide variety of skin tones/textures and body types, though few if any secondary sex characteristics; four limbs are most common, though occasionally some have two or more sets of arms; different types of leaves/vines/blossoms/etc in lieu of hair), and though they have a barter-based economy there’s still a lot of classism that’s mostly based around lineage (and thus evinced by one’s appearance and the traits one manifests). to protect (or attempt to bolster) those lineages, prospective parents can apply for a spot in a nursery, where their offspring are propagated and tended--mostly just through infancy before going to live with parents, though sometimes longer, and the very high class have private nurseries that will do all the rearing so they don’t have to.

But, on very rare occasions, certain wild plants will spontaneously develop sentience, and even more rarely will survive on their own long enough to find their way to a community. Hundreds of years ago (or “before the bees could speak”, which is their version of “once upon a time”), these spontaneous growths were revered and cherished, and whoever was first to encounter one would see it as a great honor to be responsible for their care and upbringing. now, with a much more striated society, these “weeds” (derogatory) are considered inferior, feral, dangerous. fortunately for Antheia, the man who found her, tangled in marsh reeds under the light of the Honey Moon, didn’t buy into any of that bullshit. he was a really sweet dad, very attentive and doting on his increasingly-strange adopted daughter; they were very close. but the older she got, the more her unusual ability developed, and the more he realized he was well out of his depth to help her understand that part of herself. eventually, she’s sent away to a kind of temple/convent for other people like her, where she’s trained to hone and control her extra senses, rather than be overwhelmed by them.

many years later, the sudden appearance of several large starships in their atmosphere turns their society on its head. it turns out, the bee-people have been traveling to other planets, forging alliances, brokering deals; they claim they just want to facilitate inter-planetary trade. Antheia is among the first to mistrust these invading aliens and their fleet of well-armed droids who seem hell-bent on mining their planet (which is, apparently, rich with cortosis, which--thank you wookiepedia--is apparently capable of repelling lightsabers and blasterfire alike). She flees her convent, joins up with an underground network of resistance fighters, discovers that her hyperawareness makes her a truly formidable force on the battlefield, and helps lead her people in defending the sovereignty of their home. And then things take a turn for the worse...but we don’t need to get into that right now.

ANYWAY.

my other oc, Shoal, is from the same planet but not even remotely star-warsy; either from a different time period well before the droid incursion, or just like an AU of my own stuff, idk. but she’s great, i love her deeply even though i dont really know what i even want to do with her yet. i mostly just was thinking about what a normal, average person in this world would be like, but then i got too attached. she’s also one of the spontaneous “weeds”, a semi-aquatic plant girl that washed up on a sandbar that occasionally connects a small island with the mainland when the tide is out. she was sort of “found” by multiple people at the same time, since they were making their way across to go trade goods at the mainland market, so to avoid the confusion of who should be responsible for her, she’s just sort of raised by the village as a whole. they name her Shoal, since that’s where they found her (it started as a joke, but then no one could agree on anything else to call her so it just sort of...stuck).

she grows up without realizing that it’s a pretty unusual upbringing. as a teen, she gains the reputation for the island’s best fisher (it helps that she can breathe as well underwater as above, and she’s always been a good swimmer). one thing that’s pretty consistent among all the plant people are their teeth--they all have long, sharp incisors and canines because sexy and also as more of a defense mechanism than a dietary one. they don’t eat much, typically absorbing nutrients from the sun/water/air/soil (mud baths are such a beloved experience, like for the most part they are very dignified people but find them some good mud and they will wallow for days) but when they do it’s pretty meat-heavy. they don’t really enjoy the process of eating very much, especially because they don’t have much gut bacteria so they typically have to swallow some stones to break up their food and nobody wants to do all that. but, at least in the coastal towns near where Shoal grew up, fresh-caught fish is considered a delicacy, and they can trade for quite a lot in return.

as she gets older, though, she starts getting restless. she loves her village, but it’s all she’s ever really known. also, it is so hard to even consider dating when literally everyone your age is practically your sibling, i mean, yeesh. so one day she just packs her bags and says her goodbyes and waits for low tide, then sets off to find her own way in the great wide world. she stops wherever she can, sees everything she can, but eventually settles down working at a tavern in a medium-sized town that’s mostly acclaimed for being a crossroads between bigger and better places. she likes it there, likes getting to know lots of new people and hearing about someone else’s travels more than she actually liked traveling herself. after a few years, the tavern-keeper retires and decides to leave the place to her, and she finds she’s become a permanent fixture in this new community. that’s really all i have for her so far, and i have no idea whether i’ll ever actually do anything with this character lol, but still she is very precious to me so i hope i find a story she’d be a good match for sometime soon.

what can i say? gorgeous animation, beautiful story, excellent characters--and this movie just oozes love, both within the story itself and from every single person who worked on the film. watching spider-verse just makes me super happy

the pacing and atmosphere for this one is so good, i love when filmmakers take their time building the tension. even tho the whole plot of the kidnapping is laid out to the audience in the very beginning it still manages so keep your attention with the dialogue and the fascinating cast. ive watched this movie many times

THIS ONES JUST RLLY SUPER FUN i generally get bored with too much pointless action but the stunts in fury road are so genuine and over the top i just have a blast watching them. but most of all i love the themes of the story: fighting for freedom, grizzled characters learning to trust others, the fact that they succeed in overthrowing a terrifying warlord, god. theres highs and lows, action and drama, fire and even more fire; this movie is like a dish on chopped where all the mystery ingredients are pretty normal except one of them is hot cheetos and the contestant just made it work

3 words: gay fairytale retelling. this whole book just feels dreamy, like youre being swept up by the magic of the story. its an almost fearful sensation, but in the way that doing something new and dangerous is fearful--where theres a promise of something better on the other side. i rlly need to pick this book up again when i have the energy

Girl Town (Casey Nowak)

saw it in a bookstore while looking for another book, recognized the artist, decided to leave it at the time, then went back a few days later to buy it bc i could not stop thinking about it. one of the things i love most abt this book is that the women are so real. you only get a glimpse into their lives in each comic, but its a deeply intimate one where you dive right into their thoughts and hopes and fears and they just come alive, even after you close the book. it was also so refreshing to see unpolished, "weirder" women (like me!) being featured in the comics. think i finished the whole thing in less than a day bc i couldnt put it down

A/N: This idea was born from a make-up fic title game link here. And since JUS2 is coming for us, I decided to write it with a friendly nudge from @katdefbeom​ and @ijustwantacue​ . Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1

Opening the door to your apartment half way to peek at the person knocking, you let out a disappointed sigh to see it’s none other than your annoying neighbor, Kim Yugyeom.

“Good morning!”, he stood there, giving you his signature puppy look with a smile, which you already know meant that he’s going to ask something from you.

“What do you want?”

He raised the mobile phone on his hand for you to see, “My battery’s dead. I just need to recharge it just enough to make a call, please!”

“Where’s your charger?”, you ask, though you know it’s fruitless to.

“Uhh, the girl I was with last night must’ve picked it up by mistake when she took off early this morning.”

You shook your head, you didn’t need to hear anymore of it. You have already heard plenty enough from last night with him and his “girl”, who you assumed is different from the previous girls he’s been bringing home.

You finally fully opened the door for him to go in and went back into your room. You trust he already knows his way around your apartment considering how many times he’s been in, asking for various favors. Like getting hot water for his instant noodle, borrowing a towel, a pair of scissors, etc.

After a few minutes of charging, he checked if he can now turn on his phone, and it did.

“I owe you!”, he shouted for you to hear from inside your room.

“You always say that!”, you shouted back.

“And I meant it. You’re just not using your favors-”, he said now walking towards your opened room. When he finally raised his head to give you a look, he was surprised to see you dressed up. It was an understatement that it was different on how you usually looked or dressed when he sees you, even for work, you’re usually just dressed casually with your usual no-make up face. “Wow! Are you finally going on a date?”, he asked.

You hit his arm as you walked out the room, slinging your bag to get ready. “Shut up! I’m going to my high school reunion.”

“You know, if you dress like this every day, I’m going to have to put my moves on you.”, he smirked.

“As if your moves would work on me. Go away now! I’m going to be late.”, you practically shoved him out your door and let yourself out too.

“Have fun!”, he bid you goodbye as you walk off out the hallway of your apartment building.

You were drumming your fingers on the side of the glass of the drink you have been nursing since you got inside the ballroom of the hotel. After signing for registration, you were given your assigned table number and so far, you’re the only one in your table. Aside from being alone, you’re trying to calm yourself in preparation for meeting everyone. And “everyone” meant including your childhood best friend, Im Jaebum. The one you had a one-sided love affair with. Your “the-one-that-got-away”. The perfect “man” in your life. You’ve been head over heels with him even when you were just kids, and was amplified when you went on puberty, until college brought you apart. You took different courses but still kept in touch. Until when you started working, one night when you and a few close friends got together, he introduced his girlfriend. You didn’t’ saw it coming, and it just hurt you more. After that, you made up a lot of excuses, mostly about work, to avoid him. You wouldn’t have wanted to come in this reunion if not only your best friend, Kat threatening to end your friendship if you wouldn’t come.

One by one, your close friends came, and soon only one seat is unoccupied. The one beside you. And as you feared, was reserved for JB. He finally came after a few minutes, and he was still as handsome as ever that you felt your knees weak as soon as you glimpsed his crescent eye smile. You were taken aback when he went straight towards you and gave you a tight hug, “Y/N! I missed you.”, he say through your hair, as he patted the back of your head gently. You awkwardly accepted the hug, and let yourself feel his warmth, with your arms reaching for his wide back. You were glad. He’s still the same JB. Your JB.

“So, as I was saying…”, Kat continued telling her story as soon as everyone sat down at the table, “I said yes!”, showing her ring finger, as proof that Mark Tuan, another one of your closest friends finally proposed to her. No wonder she had to threaten you to come. She planned to announce her engagement in this reunion. She invited everyone of you to her wedding with both you and JB as part of the entourage. It’s not a surprise since JB has always been a close friend to Mark, as you were to Kat.

“So, I’m finally going to see you wearing those silk flowy dresses with flowers in your hair.”, JB said when he followed you to the open bar, leaving your friends at your assigned table.

“And I, you, wearing those formal pants and clean dress shirts.”, you teased back.

“You might. Or might not. You know how I hate being all traditional.”, he said. “It’s been good to see you. It’s been awhile.”, he quickly followed.

You cocked your head. “Has it? I got too busy with work and time just passed.”, you lied. It’s been exactly 4 years, 5 months 1 week and 3 days since you last saw him. You counted.

Thankful you’ve gotten pretty good at hiding your anxiety, you somehow held a normal conversation with him. It’s gotten too good that you probably spent hours talking. You reminisce your school days. He reminded you that one time you fell asleep at class and was called out by your professor. You laughed at how he mimicked how your eyes looked, opened but not really there. Then you teased him for flunking one of your exams because he missed the question number so his answers were off by one.

You got lost in the conversation that you weren’t able to keep track of how many drinks you had. You both turned silent at one point. And suddenly the mood became serious, he was looking at you for a few seconds. “It was always fun hanging out with you.” He said with a sad smile on his face.

Your heart skipped. “Me too. It was too much fun.”, and suddenly you can’t control the words that came out of your mouth after. “In fact, it was too much fun that made me fall in love with you.”

If you weren’t too drunk, you would have seen the surprised look on his face with what you just said. But your stupid self continued exposing your lovelorn past (present) state, “It’s gotten quite bad that I’ve practically avoided you for so long because it hurts to see you with someone else.”

Someone stop me!, you imagine your sober self scream from inside you.

“Y/N, I-“, he began to respond.

You put your hand on his and quickly stood up, “Hold that, I need to pee.”, you say before swaying your way to the ladies room.

You woke up with a throbbing head ache the next day. You walked over to stop the loud continuous knock from your door.

Yugyeom whistled from the other side of the door when you opened, “Must have been one hell of a high school reunion.” He said.

“What do you want, Yugyeom?”, you asked, frustrated.

He raised his towel this time, “My shower broke, I need to get cleaned up for work.”

You didn’t even bother asking what caused his shower to break and instead let him in and went straight back into your room and into your bed. You swiped the phone from your bed side table to see numerous chats from your friend, Kat.

Mark’s Kat: “Drink plenty of water when you wake up.”

Mark’s Kat: “Oh, and btw girl, clean up your room! It looks like a warzone up there!”

Mark’s Kat: “JB contacted me asking where you lived so I gave him your address.”

Your eyes shoot up when you read that last message. And as if on cue, another knock was heard from your door.

You hurriedly got up and gave a quick look at your face in the mirror. Hair disheveled, eyes red and puffed. Face bloated. What the fuck! You screamed internally.

Finally, you opened the door halfway and saw JB standing outside your door. You see on his hands are a few bags of take-out food.

His face contorted in a worry when he saw the mask over your face, “Did you get sick?”

“No!”, you quickly answered, shaking your head. “I’m not sick. I… I just look like hell this morning.”, you admitted.

“Oh”, he smiled, relieved. “Can I come in? I brought chicken and rice soup for your hangover.”, he offered, raising the bags for you to see.

“I’m sorry, JB, I-“, you began to say, thinking of things to throw him out the door without letting him know you were too embarrassed to face him after all you confessed last night. Just then, Yugyeom came out of the bathroom, half naked. And which JB caught a glimpsed from your half-opened door.

“Are you with someone?”, he asked, confused.

“Uhhh-yeah.”, you’re still clutching the edge of the door not wanting to open it fully and let him see the mess in your place.

Still, he peered in to see half naked Yugyeom drying his hair with the extra towel from your bathroom.

“Oh.”, he nodded. Though you can’t read his expression. “I didn’t know you’re living with someone. Is he your boyfriend?”

You nodded. You would have admitted to anything just to make him leave.

JB smiled again and handed the food to you, “Take it. Just heat it up if it’s already cold. I’ll see you next time.”

“Thank you.”, was all you can say.

He left and you leaned your back to the closed door, looking at the food he brought you.

“I’m just gonna hang this here, okay?”, Yugyeom said gesturing the towel he used from your bathroom.

You only now realized, he’s half naked. The towel that he brought the only thing covering his torso. The clothes he worn was thrown on his shoulders. JB saw that!?

“Thank you for the shower, I owe you.”, he said and continued to walk towards the door that you are still leaning against to.

“Wait!”, you quickly recovered your voice when he reached for the door knob.

He chuckled and is now a few inches away from your body, “What? You want a quickie?”

You hit his arm much harder now, “What!? No!”, you only stopped him in fear he’s going to run into JB outside your door.

Yugyeom laughed at how red your face is now.

“Look, I have food! I was just wondering if you wanted to eat with me before you leave.”, you offered.

“Uhmm… but I’m still half naked, can’t I get dressed first?”

You paused and realized JB must be out the building by now and he probably wouldn’t see Yugyeom if he goes out of your apartment. “You know what? Forget it. I’ll have breakfast by myself.”, you said.

“What? But I want to eat, too!”, he whined.

Kat called another get together for lunch to talk about the wedding plans. As part of the entourage, you are “required” to go. You’re just hoping JB wouldn’t ask you about your confession from the reunion and just leave you since he technically thinks you’re with someone now.

Kat was just done discussing the wedding theme. The color motif was rose red and so that’s what your silk flowery dress’s color will be. You’re just thankful it’s not pink or other neon colors that would make you look like a traffic officer. Kat is now asking around on plus ones, or if anyone would bring an extra guest to the wedding so she can finalize the guest count.

You were surprised when JB spoke, his eyes piercing to yours, after spending most of that morning not talking,  “You should bring your boyfriend.”

You were rendered speechless. “What??? Y/N has a boyfriend?”, Kat asked, she was looking alternately between you and JB, waiting for someone to confirm.

“Yeah, I saw him when I dropped by the other day.”, JB answered, he straightened from his seat and took a sip of wine from his glass.

Although you’re thankful that he’s not staring at you anymore, your friend Kat is now looking at you, with questions one after another, “And you didn’t tell me? Wait, is that why your room is such a mess? You HAVE to bring him next time! We HAVE to interrogate him, don’t we sweetie?”, she turned to face Mark who just answered with a smile. “This is so exciting!”, she added and took down notes on her little wedding-planning-notebook.

“And you JB, I’m assuming you’re bringing Jen?”, Kat asked, now focusing her attention to JB.

JB shook his head, “No. We’ve broken up for a while now.” He answered.

“Why is nobody telling me things!?”, Kat exclaimed, “Since when!? Mark! Did you know about this?”, she turned to her quiet fiancée.

“Uh, yeah.”, Mark answered, wiping his face with the table napkin, ready to face the wrath of his soon-to-be-wife.

“Why didn’t you tell me!?”, Kat asked.

“Sweetie, it’s not my story to tell.”, Mark’s voice was as if laced with honey, to pacify his fiancée.

Maybe because you’ve been away for so long that you can’t read JB’s expression when you looked at him. But you still felt sorry, and guilty at the same time. Not being there for him when he broke up with Jen. You didn’t know how their relationship was because your selfish self didn’t want to get involved but it must’ve hurt, even a little.

The next day, Yugyeom was surprised to see you knock on his door.

“We need to talk.”, your face was serious when you saw him answer.

Although confused, he let you in without saying anything. He picked up the bowl of cereal he was eating for breakfast and continued putting a spoonful to his mouth.

“This place is a mess.”, you say after taking a quick look around the room.

“Yours is too, but I don’t state the obvious. Anyway, I don’t think you’re here to talk about how I clean up my apartment.”, he was still chewing the cereal and his hand was still on the spoon, ready to put another to his mouth. “What do you want to talk about?”

“Right.”, you tiptoed, “I’m going to have to call on those favors you owe me.”

He shrugged, “Okay. Shoot.”

You held your breath for as long as you can, you really couldn’t figure how to say it, but just state it for what it is “I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend.”

He choked on his cereal and almost made a complete mess. He’s coughing up milk and you helped pat his back. “I’m sorry? Your boyfriend?”, he asked.

He placed the bowl down and stood up, “Me? Pretend to be your boyfriend?”, he’s repeating it as if those words are foreign.

“Yeah.”, you confirmed again.

“We-How.. How exactly should we do that?", he panicked, “Should we date? Or be intimate or something? I need details! We both know I don’t really know how to be a boyfriend.”

“Calm down.”, you say. Although, you don’t really know how it would work too. You both sat down and you tried to explain what you needed from him, “We just need to date for the wedding I’m attending to by end of the month. And there’s going to be gatherings, lunches and dinners before then”, you enumerated, “so I��m going to need you to accompany to some of them. And don’t worry… I’m going to pay for everything!”

After just a few seconds of thinking, you heard him say, “Okay.”

Surprised by how quick he answered you curled your eyebrows. Maybe he didn’t understand what you were asking of, “Okay? You’re good with that?”

He nodded. “I told you I’m serious when I say I owe you, right?”

You felt relieved. And thought of something again. “Oh, and this goes without saying but just to be clear, I can’t risk having this found out. We’re going to pretend to be dating until the wedding day, okay?”

He nodded again.

“That means no dating other girls before then too, get it?”

“What??”, he exclaimed. He looked at you again and let out a defeated sigh. “Okay. Then I guess I have to cancel my plans this week.”

Steam/PC: The Charming Empire Review

Final Grade: D+/C- TL;DR: Not great. OST was very mediocre. A little above average visuals. Storytelling was terrible. Voice Acting (VA) was the only saving grace for this game. UI is terrible/no improvement from the mobile version. Characters were great but development was non-existent in many of the routes. Couldn’t stomach the game to play through everyone’s Good ending…I just did Happy Endings which were still just mediocre ends.

Route Order I followed: Yoshimine, Togawa, Tanba, Sera, Soshi.

Route Order I recommend: Yoshimine, Tanba, Sera, Togawa, Soshi Though it honestly doesn’t matter since none of the storylines are that closely related anyways….I’d say Soshi for the beginning or end since his has the most “answers” in it. His route is pretty painful to save for last though….

Here are the route reviews: Ratings for the routes in this game will be actually higher than expected. I'm not saying these are "good" routes but the overall game is pretty kusoge (shit-game) so I'm rating them based on the low standards the overall game has set already. That being said, if you're use to fully fleshed out otome games, which I'm spoiled with...since I tend to play console based ones and not mobile based games, this game is pretty garbage. However, if you just want some light fluffy writing with tolerable visuals and a simple UI, this game is perfect. I originally played this game cause Tsuda Kenjiro VAs onii-chan... but holy shit after the first route I wasn't sure if I could make it through all the routes.

Luckily all the routes are pretty short....thank god. I didn't bother with the Normal ends cause the lackluster CGs with the shitty auto mode really made me want to kill myself while playing. Without further ado.. Here are the individual route reviews. Each written after completing the Good end.

Yoshimine 6/10

Angry Tsundere Shota >_> Uhhh def not my type. So I chose this to be my first route cause I saw the character pictures and this looked like no.1 not my type I tend to play the routes I don't think I'll like first then end with the best. He's an okay tsun-shota type. He def has some cute moments but it was really hard to get into his character since the kusoge didnt really give him good character development His idle sprite also looks really awkward too so that didn't help. Overall his VA really made up for the shitty character writing he had and semi brought his character to life. Oh yeah... the plot "twist" at the end...was so obvious.... holy shit.

Wtf is this idle..... something looks off....

Togawa 7/10

Okay... from what I see so far... this game is mainly a setup for the Soshi route at the end... I'm kinda okay with this. This route was sweet due to the bachelor being such a sweet cinnamon roll. Luckily his sprite wasn't as awkward to look at. His CGs were pretty weak as well. I think there was like 1 good CG. Augghh this kusoge with the shitty character development. I'm glad this character had some "history" with the MC though that made the lack of character development better. There were some interesting translation differences IDK were meant to be in there like switching black tea to just Earl Grey tea.

Tanba 8/10

So I really like Tanba Toki's design and the fact that his VA is also Prompto from FFXV's VA is even better.The VA suits him really well and his character development is on point. There was some questionable OST choices for certain scenes... there was "happy" music when you were helping the rebels... like whhaatt? THEN THE MAIN THING THAT MADE ME UPSET. NO CG FOR THE CONFESSION PART HOLY SHIT IM SO PISSED. THIS GAME IS KUSOGE WTH D: Then after the confession scene theres an awkward Kiss CG which look sssoooo weirrdd >_>

Overall though, this is my favorite route so far. He had the best writing so far. I think the fact that the MC doesn't get to be with him all the time really helps. There was def. slight character development written in for both the MC and Tanba. The trend of setting up for Soshi is still very prominent in this route...anddd still no connection to any other characters expect for Soshi. I really hope Soshi's route is good to make up for all the rest of these mediocre to shitty routes. (Spoiler…it didn’t) Sera's route next.

Sera 7/10

Alright, I'd be lying if I was going to say that I didn't enjoy this route. ITS STILL A TERRIBLE FUCKING ROUTE. Writing is very mediocre and storyline/development is downright garbage. BUT I fucking love Sera's character trope. Stoic quiet big guy who's actually a fucking cinnamon roll inside. He also holds the knight card as in he must protecc. Seriously, if he had glasses he would be perfect for me. HOWEVER, the VAing in the beginning was a little forced. I think Takuya (the VA) was trying to force himself to have a deeper voice at times and it didn't sound good. Then there was the sprite of Sera... wtf is this hand shit going on his idle sprite?!??

Besides that shitty idle hand...I love his character design. A LOT of the scenes (including the ending) were not satisfying at all....they could've done so much more with his scenes. The sewing scene pissed me off the most....WTF IS THAT "he said thanks" end scene. The best part of this route is that Kagamitsu Togawa actually exists in this and Yoshimine Kei is hinted at...finaaaalllly other characters being shown. I'm also glad of Soshi's end in this route compared to others. Lots of good but lots of bad in this route.... Soshi for last bois.

Soshi 6/10

I'm. so. sad. I was super hyped for this last route cause there Soshi was the only route that was hinted at in ALL the other routes. This route was a whole lot of disappointment though :( In fact... Togawa was kinda the only saving grace of this route. Arrgggh I tried so hard to like this route I really did but the story telling was soooo bad. I mean after playing the other routes you kinda are just waiting for the "twist" that was shown before...so the precursor to it is literally like WHY?! WHY YOU GOTTA BE LIKE THAT SOSHI KUN?!Also there was some fucking weird ass development or something messed up in the translation.... WHERE THE FUCK DID THE TEA PART COME FROM!? DID I MISS SOMETHING!?!?!AS IN (Spoiler alert)

WHY THE FUCK DID SHE TRY TO KILL HIM?! I'm sorry this is the only major spoiler I had to mention cause I was so confused when it happened. Then the writing got even weirder when the "Happy end" scene played where she literally started to call him "Onii-chan" and she's been calling him Soshi the whole time.... even Soji at some point IDK why....top of that...why the fuck was Soshi allowed to do what he was allowed to do at the end like no you were still the ruler howwww?....This route was just full of weird plot holes and shit that just didn't make sense. Since the route was very shitty to begin with the CGs were equally lackluster. Boring scenes got boring CGs except for the last CG but by then I was just so sad and done with the game. Tsuda Kenjiro's VAing talents were wasted on this kusoge and kuso-chara.

The Pros:

Artstyle/Character Designs- I really enjoyed a lot of the Character Designs. In fact it was the VAing and Character designs that made me eventually pick up this game. The art is vibrant is really nice to look at. Sadly some of the CGs weren’t the best of quality and some sprites could be improved. However, overall the art is very pleasant and well suited for the time period it is set in.

OST- OST was decent too. For a mobile game that ported to PC. I was decently surprised that even after trudging through so many routes the OST didn’t get annoying or repetitive. Granted there were some questionable timing on when to play certain tracks but the songs themselves were still pretty good.

VAing- So many good voice actors involved in this game. Tsuda Kenjiro is literally my favorite VA and they had the voice of Prompto too? Man good shit. The VAing did not disappoint. They def. made the game 100x better. If this game didn’t have VAing I would’ve been so sad and I don’t think I could’ve played through it all.

The Cons:

UI/UI Functionality- My BIGGEST GRIPE about this game. I get it shitty story/development, budget art, etc. BUT WHEN YOU CANT EVEN GET YOUR UI TO FUNCTION/LOOK GOOD?! COME ON! The UI is directly a port from the mobile game so it looks clunky and jenky. Not only that Auto doesn’t work as auto normally does in otoges. It acts more of a skip button which was SO FRUSTRATING. I sometimes multitask when I play otome games like check my phone/send messages to people, so I love having it on auto especially with VAing. Additionally I don’t know if it was only a bug on my game but my settings would NEVER save when I would start a new route… holy that pissed me off.

Development of Characters- Do I even have to touch on this? There was little to no development of the bachelors at all… Most of their characters were just thrown together and you were to just nod your head at some of their “developments” as in they would say “I’m partially a cat” and your character would go “Oh cool”. End of story sequence. I wanted to just punch the screen sometimes…

Tasteless CGS- Artstyle==cool. CGs==terrible. The CGs were at really weird timing and sometimes I wished there was a certain CG at a certain time but there wasn’t. I don’t know if its because there wasn’t enough memory to put in CGs for the mobile release or what not, but regardless the game did not have CGs at good times. Leading the CGs to be at awkward moments, except for the “core” CGS aka the “meeting” CGs and the “ending” CGs.

Main Character- She’s weak willed and not a fun character to follow. She just takes things as is, except maybe in Tanba’s route. I hated “being” her… I wanted to make choices at times when the games doesn’t give you a choice.

Bottom Line:

This game is just pretty garbage. I just want to move on my life and pretend that Tsuda Kenjiro wasn’t VAing in this game. If you’re thinking of buying this game..buy it on sale…like 50% or more sale or some shit. The routes are short and not fun to play through. There are def. better choices of otome games out there for PC. Of course not a lot of them are voiced by cool Japanese voice actors but this one is pretty shitty you might as well pass. I would highly recommend Nightshade on Steam or if you’re looking for something more comedy-esque and risqué… Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome. For good artstyle I’ve heard good things about OZ-Mafia too. Or just save your money up for a PSTV for those sweet sweet PSVITA games. ;)

OK SO TO START OUT a quick summary of this character: marion tremblay, 26 years old, they/them pronouns, a courier six (but i might write them into a non-six role idk) with Sight Gone Wrong. imagine savestates, but the character only experiences the "canonical" ie last save. so they go from neutral to knowing exactly how to process a situation, but it causes a LOT of stress on them, including an incredibly distinctive negative feeling when a "save" occurs and nightmares depicting all the plays gone wrong. in addition, the successful path isnt always harmless, and often leads to heavy injury - just not death. not to mention the fact that the successful path doesnt always help people theyre trying to help, just them.

marion is incredibly stressed and doesnt get it, runs into danger and knows exactly what to do, doesnt know why, doesnt understand how it all adds together, and doesnt understand to maybe take it a little slower. then again, when they try to chill out and live normally the nightmares just get worse and worse. so basically they self medicate to dull the dreams a bit and it just makes everything even more stressful.

theyre a courier/jack of all trades/mercenary type that uses a recharger pistol, and has no self of self preservation. is struggling, indulges often, and is impossibly easy to charm. does things for the fuck of it, anxious, hesitantly affectionate, eventually very protective and supportive, childish and constantly tired lol.

OK SO... marion was part of a pretty biggish family closer up north, just kind of, they did business and were vaguely well off. they were always pretty pretentious and loved reading books n shit, tinkering with tech, so their parents were v happy with it. then around the age of thirteen their sight started kicking in, which manifested itself at first as just like a really heavy uneasy feeling whenever something was about to happen, and later kind of... worked itself into what it is now. anyway, they didnt cope very well with it and ended up fucking up a lot of relationships and things when they booked it at about seventeen.

at which point they kind of became a jack of all trades, constantly travelling, settling generally in the mojave. courier mostly at first, then eventually also a mercenary when the business started booming. they constantly had like, at least a couple dozen things going on, so occasionally they would forget a job or two. but considering their sight, they more or less had the ability to go into places that literally no one else could and come out bruised and bloodied but alive. so generally? business was good.

How’s their aim? Do their hands shake while pointing a gun? a gun? yes. a laser pistol? no. the second things have like, physical bullets in it, they get super stressed. using lasers instead of pistols or bullets allows a certain level of, like, disconnection from the situation.

What are their thoughts on having to kill on a daily bases in order to survive? Does it take a toll on them? Or do they shake it off rather easily? they really hate it. but honestly they get worse nightmares if they dont keep doing things, like constantly. they prefer to not really have to kill people, so tend to like... threaten and bluster their way through things pretty often. they wont chase down a fleeing enemy unless theyre really super in the zone

Thoughts on death if any? (ex. Fear it, accept it) definitely fear. they pretty much cant die, so theyre pretty confident about it, but its mostly because they manage to disconnect so much from situations that it basically just gives them night terrors. like i said before, complete disconnection from their own emotions. basically a whole lot of marions problems could be fixed by accepting that maybe running into danger is a bad idea, even if they basically cant die.

tl;dr, they think they accept it, but 100% fear

Do they move around a lot or prefer to have a place to call home? they move around SO much. marions pretty much been on the move since they turned 17, constantly doing just about anything they could get their hands on. a million jobs all at once

What’s their favorite location? the strip. they pretty much used to spend most of their spare time down there - loved the food at the ultra luxe, the booze n drugs at gomorrah, and the music company and games at the tops. a couple days of throwing caps down the drain, followed by doing a bunch of odd jobs in the area is a good way of spending a whole week. then, once they had enough messages and packages and people to kill/find, theyd take off again

Their opinions on ghouls, feral and not feral? marion kind of sees themself in feral ghouls. impossible to kill, but at what cost, etc etc. very angsty. thinks ghoul voices are actually kind of pretty

Do they scavenge for their supplies or simply buy them? combination. scavenges what they can, buys the rest. when youre as lucky as they are when finding bullets and bits, you definitely have enough caps for everything else. since theyre shit at repairing, they always get their equipment repaired while out

Are they the type to get distracted and go off to an unknown nearby location or do they stay on track? they definitely amble. long term plans are definite, but when you have maybe five jobs happening at once it doesnt hurt to step aside and grab a new one on the way

How do they sleep? Are they picky about where and how or can they sleep basically anywhere? they tend to get themself pretty blitzed to be able to sleep with few dreams. as a result they can pretty much sleep anywhere, but theyre pretty fitful about it

What’s their favorite radio station and song? (post-apocalypse) they used to like butcher pete but got pretty tired of it after a good, long amount of time. now they think aint that a kick in the head is super funny. since they got shot in the head.

theyre okay with literally every radio station, but likes black mountain radio a lot even though its a lot weirder than it was before. theyre really not sure if the people on the radio are uh ok but uh. makes it a point to eventually check that out.

What’s their favorite post-apocalyptic food? Are they a picky eater? Do they know how to cook? they fucking LOVE fresh fruit - trail mix is a huge fave, nd theyll pay pretty much any amount of money for it, especially since it keeps pretty well. theyre also a fan of like, gourmet shit, since they have the money to spend on it. good steaks are nice. theyre pretty picky, but they usually have a pretty good supply of long-keeping foods to eat on the road. they cant really cook that well though

What’s their favorite beverage? Do they drink alcohol? vodka is a fave. gets them real drunk real fast. a long time ago they managed to trade for some nuka-cherry and its basically their favourite thing in the whole world??????? has a weird distaste for sunset sarsaparilla and gives it all to raul

Do they have any tag skills? energy weapons, science, medicine. really good with e.weapons, more than decent with science, pretty good with medicine. mostly out of patching self up.

Are they good at disarming traps or do they constantly miss them? theyre pretty shitty at getting traps, but their luck is amazing with it. they can pretty much walk through a minefield just fine. like running through is safer than trying to disarm, because when you run through a minefield you either die or you dont - when you try really delicately you might blow some important bits up, but you wont die lol
