the walking dead - ................. like it has to be said. i'm so sorry. it didn't even really go 'bad' for me like it did lose me for a hot minute or two there originally but like. when i rewatched i was like no actually i love it here. i love this hot mess. and i tragically fucking do. could really do with bringing certain characters back etc or just dissappearing some storylines but like. i do fucking love it.

breaking bad - i didnt even KNOW what i was in for i was just like this'll be fine this'll be chill. and then my life changed forever y'know.

lets revisit black sails again and say season two finale as a whole? but also the 'in the light there is discovery' forest speech in the series finale............................i get chills like every time. WAIT ALSO 'my name is John Silver. and i've got a Long Fucking Memory.' INSANE acting also idk if this is really technically 'top five scenes' worthy but uknow that line where flints like 'where else would you wake up in the morning and matter?' @ silver??? yeah it ingrained itself into my brain and now whenever my brains having a bad day and being a bitch, it just repeats that line over and over to myself. again i dont know if that makes it a top five thing but boy oh bOY it sure made an impact !

OHHHHHHH OKAY omg idk if this will be long but. if it is im sorry

my favourite episode has changed over time. it used to be the eye of the phoenix episode (bc of gwaine, ofc, but also bc competent/smart arthur is nice to see every now and again etc), but i think now its 2.08 (which im sure no one saw coming😫) however special shoutout to 1.09, 2.12, 3.07, and 5.13 bc 🫶🫶🫶🫶 (i also want to give SOME props to the troll eps because while they do make me uncomfortable and i think theyre ehhh… i also think some of the best writing for arthurs characterization came from them so. sigh. you win some u lose some i guess)

my answer for everything else sort of branches off from 2.08 being my favourite. i love the history between nimueh and uther and ygraine and i looovveeeee all the complications and twists and implications that come with arthur being born of magic. that the thing uther has raised him to hate and fight and whatever is directly responsible for his birth and so very inherent to him as a person—not just bc of his destiny but because its literally responsible for his existence. like we always talk about how big of a hypocrite uther obviously is but i dont think ive ever seen anyone talk about how deeply fucked up it is that uther has such a deep rooted hatred for the thing that—sure, may have killed his wife (though thats his own fault) but also—made the birth of his SON possible. and then made his son hate it and fear it as well. (and just the fact that it never quite stuck, anyway.)

i really like the story arc of 2.08 and how arthur proves himself noble and worthy to morgause just by virtue of being himself and sticking to his ideals. i love the interaction he has with ygraine (and the fact that it could be ygraine or it could be not ygraine or it could be mostly ygraine but not fully). i love that the first thing he says to her is sorry. i love love love getting a glimpse into how arthur thinks of his mom and the relationship he has with her and her ghost and so on. just everything about that interaction (from the hug to the reveal to the sudden loss to the lighting to the fact tHAT HE LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE HER to her saying she loves him shes proud of him uthers betrayal doesnt matter she wouldve given her life willingly anyway) is so so so good to me.

i also like the confrontation with uther. i cant tell you which one i like more because the idea of arthur having such vulnerable and significant interactions with BOTH his parents maybe a day apart is overwhelming even for me but. theyre both excellent in different ways. i love how cold he is at first when confronting uther and i love how he figures uthers hypocrisy out in 2 seconds flat and i love how he progressively loses the cold control and becomes so betrayed and angry and HURT and sksbsksnksjsks just. 2.08 is honestly one of the best episodes ever. i could go on about arthur in the scene with uther but like i dont even know how to articulate it. “you speak of honour and nobility. you’re nothing but a hypocrite and a liar.” really just speaks for itself. (ALSO THE FIGHT SCENE WHERE HES LITERALLY FOCUSED AND ASSESSING HIS FATHER LIKE AN ENEMY AND UTHER FUCKING AIMS TO TAKE HIS HEAD OFF EVEN THOUGH THAT MOVE IS NOT NECESSARY IN ORDER TO PROTECT HIMSELF? LIKE HE LITERALLY GOES FOR A KILL AIM AT HIS OWN SON TWICE DESPITE SAYING I DONT WANT TO FIGHT YOU AND IM UNARMED AND BLAH BLAH BLAH) (like this episode is great for arthur and thats the main reason why i like it so much, but its also a very telling episode for uthers character. LIKE HE HAS A CHANCE TO COME CLEAN AND JUST FUCKING LIES ANYWAY AND ACTS LIKE THE VICTIM OHHHHHHH IM sorry im getting angry. love the ep but the anger i feel because of how they chose to end it will keep me rolling in my grave).

that being said, if i COULD write a canon compliant fic (i mean u can find two here) i would change the ending to that episode. i dont care if merlins there and just doesnt lie or if merlin somehow is absent, all i would change is that arthur would not be lied to again. i would make it so that he knows the truth. thats it. i dont care if he kills uther (to be honest i dont think he wouldve anyway but maybe thats just me) i dont care about literally anything else id just. id let him have the truth he’s entitled to. and id let him have that memory of his mother.

1.01 pilot - obviously the setup for the series, should not be skipped

1.02 wendigo - direct continuation from the plot, further establishes sam and dean’s characters/relationship

1.03 dead in the water - optional, but continues to establish dean’s character, including some sweet moments between him + a mute kid with insights to dean’s trauma re: his mom’s death

1.05 bloody mary - optional, but has a scene near the end that explores sam’s guilt regarding jess’s death (it just depends on how invested you are in that part of his character on whether or not you’ll wanna watch) 

1.06 skin - the beginning of the winchesters vs. the police side plot, dean’s first public “death”

1.09 home - sam and dean return to the house their mom died in for a case, john appears briefly at the end (so tw for jdm :/)

1.10 asylum - optional but has some good moments for sam

1.11 scarecrow - first appearance of recurring character meg who becomes a huge part of the series, also one of my favorite hunts from s1 personally

1.12 faith - dean’s first actual death, reaper lore, huge foreshadowing for s4

1.13 route 666 - optional, but provides background information for dean regarding relationships and love, features cassie robinson my angel

1.14 nightmare - very important to sam’s character and the s2 finale

1.15 the benders - optional, but one of my top five s1 eps; no big lore dumps, but the monsters are human, and it’s interesting to see sam and dean deal with that

1.16 shadow - return of meg and john

1.18 something wicked - flashbacks to childhood that establish john is a shitty parent, overall a very emotional episode

1.19 provenance - optional, but features a character named sarah who is the first character sam really has an attraction towards since jess’s death (she also makes a brief return in s8)

1.20 dead man’s blood - first introduction of vampires, john is here, very important worldbuilding which sucks because like i said, john is here

1.21 salvation - penultimate ep of s1, john is here too :/  but important for the plot

1.22 devil’s trap - season finale, bobby’s first appearance i’m pretty sure (and he’s their real dad and i love him), obviously very important

season two

2.01 in my time of dying - dean is dead again, john dies in this ep, generally an important episode (though this is true for all first eps i guess)

2.02 everybody loves a clown - first appearance for ellen and jo and ash whom i love, dean and sam deal with their grief over john dying

2.03 bloodlust - optional, introduction of gordon who shows up again (he eventually tries to kill sam and dean, this ep is the setup for that. there’s some commentary on humanity and when a monster isnt a monster etc but i don’t think skipping it will cause too many issues. it just depends on your interest in this based off of the desc i guess)

2.05 simon said - spiritual sequel to 1.14, introduces a character important to the s2 finale, continues to explore sam’s psychic abilities, etc

2.06 no exit - optional; the return of jo and ellen. viewing depends on your interest in them i guess.

2.07 the usual suspects - sequel to 1.06, dean vs. the cops again, which is a pretty important part of his character overall imo

2.08 crossroad blues - optional, but has a lot of lore for demons and crossroads, foreshadowing/set up for s3 (plenty of the lore can be picked up without this ep/will be repeated but i like this one, personally)

2.09 croatoan - prequel to 5.04 ! poetic cinema. apocalypse vibes

2.10 hunted - optional. continuation of 2.03, with the introduction of another character similar to max from 1.14 and andy from 2.05 who will be important to the s2 finale, but if you aren’t interested in gordon then the recap for the s2 finale will cover it

2.12 nightshifter - continuation from 2.07, more winchesters vs. the cops, introduces victor my beloved

2.13 houses of the holy - optional, has some commentary on the way sam and dean view religion that continues from 1.12 and adds perspective to s4 but not exactly necessary

2.14 born under a bad sign - optional, but kind of an important episode for sam. spoiler is that he’s possessed by meg and there’s some uncomfortable scenes regarding what she makes him do while possessed (and is one of the reasons i dislike her) 

2.15 tall tales - optional bc i feel like i’m listing too many as essential :( it does introduce an important character (the archangel gabriel who is masquerading as a trickster) but i feel like the eps he appears in after will have sufficient enough recaps covering the events of this ep to catch you up

2.18 hollywood babylon - extremely optional this ep is just very comforting to me for some reason. dean and sam are working on a horror movie set that ends up having real ghosts and it’s just fun

2.19 folsom prison blues - optional, but the next thrilling installment in the winchesters vs the cops. victor from 2.12 returns. i like this ep a lot but if you aren’t interested in this subplot it can be skipped

2.21 + 2.22 all hell breaks loose - two part season finale. actually i won’t spoil this for you but it is important (just like with the first eps of every season i think finales will always be relevant)

season three

3.01 the magnificent seven - deals with fallout from the s2 finale, explores the hunting community a little more. introduces ruby, an important character

3.02 - introduction of lisa and ben (who are important to s5/6)

3.03 bad day at black rock - optional, but introduces bela my beloved (maggie twd). continues gordon’s plot from s2 as well

3.06 - optional, the return of bela (my beloved)

3.07 fresh blood - optional, the finale to gordon’s plot

3.08 a very supernatural christmas- optional, but there’s some childhood flashbacks and in general it’s a cute episode and i typically hate christmas eps skjfnskjn

3.10 dream a little dream of me - dean talks shit about john and in general talks about his feelings and it hurts me

3.11 mystery spot - the return of the trickster/gabriel (still not revealed as an angel), dean dies 100+ times, it seems dumb but is important

3.12 jus in bello - winchesters vs cops again! victor returns

3.13 ghostfacers - optional. i have no good reason for you to watch this im just obsessed with it

3.15 time is on my side - penultimate ep, deals with a lot of dean’s feelings, bela returns/this concludes her arc

3.16 no rest for the wicked - finale, dean dies :(

The Death of Evie Beaumont???

thinking about evie’s death (as one does) and when/how it would be most impactful bc im an indecisive sob so here’s a list of moments in s3 that seem to make sense

in 3.03/3.04 (actually this one could really happen in any ep after ep3 tbh) if evie goes west w helena/to visit helena, perhaps she finds the info on dezod’s house that later leads to helena’s death and dies w that info in s3 #thanksdezod 

provides foreshadowing and a deep sense of threat for helena later on

possibly helena knew to look in the library bc of this or smth idk

we could analyze, if we go w this, how much the audience finds out w evie and how much they find out later

3.04, maybe she dies w some innocents and/or trying to rescue them from lynessa’s new wretched regime/underground railroad thingy

makes lynessa and avelina extra crazy just in time to rule #yay #goodtimes (tho this is true of her dying any time just before or throughout lynessa’s reign, etc)

shows the horrors of the populace etc yknow

3.05, if she goes south to see celia, maybe one of margery’s assassination attempts on celia fails bc evie dies instead or whatever

tho, in that case, avelina is 100% trying to murder margery too after this #whoops

ups the stakes etc and opens the possibility of celia actually dying to the audience (and james *shifty eyes* ;D)

3.05, she dies during the attempt to steal eggs from rowena’s vault

we say it goes terribly, terribly wrong so yeah evie dying would obv be an example of that ++ show the desperate situation the resistance is in, etc

3.07, evie dies during rowena’s recapture of the imperial city

makes the sense of that battle all the realer and more crucial and devestating - so many innocents dying for nothing, etc, w evie as the face of that

3.07, evie dies in the midst of the whole southern mole thing

tho we don’t know exactly what’s going on w any of that tbh haha

3.08, evie is put to death alongside lynessa - maybe rowena decides she isn’t gonna have a second beaumont uprising even if that means killing the innocent w the guilty #cousingoals

(if we go w this, she could also be executed a lil earlier than lynessa, so it could also be 3.07 or whatever, if we wanna space things out more, etc.)

this also ups the ante in terms of rowena turning on celia bc it makes the whole thing even worse when she’s executed two of her sisters already etc

and/or she is executed bc dmitrei knows about her helping alex and james w celia in s2 and gave up her secret to rowena when he told her about lynessa, etc, or smth? 

cue rowena wondering if the beaumonts and alex were in league all along jk jk ;D ‘wow avelina really hid her ally in plain sight there didn’t she - she was better than i thought’ ;DDDDDD

also, evie is def part of the resistance by the time of her death!!  we’d marked her as a ‘possible’ resistance member but yeah let’s make it official <3

anyway!! lmk if you have any thoughts about this and about what might be best in terms of the over all story, etc, bc im hella indecisive and yeaH (also, im fine w evie being a part of any or all of these plots - like, im down w her traveling, her almost dying (we love foreshadowing!!) before he actual death, just about anything, is what im saying hahaha)
