well when i say that’s “generic” i am echoing what i have seen said in the murderbot fandom - i fully agree that blond haired blue eyed white boy should not be seen as the default, though it must be acknowledged that’s how many, especially in the film industry, still view it.

i don't want to get super into it because most people i've seen discussing the murderbot cast in a negative way are perfectly normal about it and just simply would have preferred someone else but every now and then i'll see someone's reaction that's like... you know, you can just say you think of nonbinary people as "woman lite" and go

#im of the opinion that skarsgard WAS cast for his acting bc he is genuinely great when he tries #he was phoning it in hard for godzilla v kong but like. that was godzilla v kong can u blame him #and the fact that he’s also credited as a producer actually mitigates my main worry about the show which is the directors #based on their previous work the weitz brothers seem like very #‘people the studios hire to get the job done’ directors :-/#but meanwhile the other stuff skarsgard has been credited as a producer on has been stuff he’s very invested in #like the northman was as much a passion project for him as it was for robert eggers #and he was so committed to infinity pool he let himself be walked down the red carpet like a dog #so im tentatively hoping that him being a producer means he has some amount of enthusiasm and emotional investment in the project
