20 Questions for Fic Writers
thank you @emsylcatac for the tag! (here's the link to their post, please check it out, fics and answers and all that, the fics are so good!) haven't had any active wips for a while now lol, will this continue? let's find out
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 27
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
100,230
3. What fandoms do you write for?
only miraculous ladybug!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
cataclysmic creations, #clownbug, Unstained, forbidden silence, and with you, everything and nothing makes sense
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes of course i do! to show my gratitude for them taking some time out of their day to read what i wrote! there are some which i really don't know what to reply with so i don't but know that i appreciate everyone who comments (nice ones) and read my fics
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
a malevolent affair has no happy ending lol it's rated M for reasons, definitely not for the faint of heart
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
err, prolly this is us trying? i've no idea man
8. Do you get hate on fics?

i've no idea fdslfdsjkl
17. What are your writing weaknesses?

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
ig if it's there to confuse the readers then it's fine? i've read one where the writer is learning japanese and they started their dialouges with a few japanese words only but then it got to the point where it's whole sentences in japanese and this was before i learnt japanese so im like wow this is annoying...
19. First fandom you wrote for?
miraculous ladybug!
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
i believe it's sunset; sunrise, cause i remember i kept reading it even after it's published lol idk if i can say the same about it today but i remember i definitely liked it a lot

8 and 17 of the weird writers questions!
8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?
my secret super weapon is that im incredibly good at rambling!!! monologues and internal narrations are my forte! and i love stories that tell things a little bit different that your usual conventional story. assuming by „no-action“ this question is talking about characters (choice of) action, not physical combat, basically anything that is not internal narrative, i would choose this if i wanted to challenge myself a bit. in the end, it is a little difficult to string a whole, cohesive story together that is not boring without characters doing smth tangible. i would choose no-dialogue if i wanted to explore dreamy, whismical, introspective storytelling (which i love!!!!) like in fairytales. the fairytales i grew up with have very or even no dialogue, and instead rhymes and poetic prose. both are good!
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text
im not going to talk about the details of the WIP itself. i feel these things are very private, its not yet published and i want to keep it close to my chest a little longer. but im going to talk about what it means to me, writing this WIP.
so, basically, my family has a very personal relationship with dictatorship, propaganda, freedom of speech (and thought), silence (and the violence therein), unresolved trauma, and war. thus, im having lots of feelings for tyk that are stemming directly from this. my dad (not my real dad, but more a real dad than my actual dad) was a prisoner of war and a revolutionary, and we have reason to believe he still worked in the underground network even after his escape from the regime. my parents (all three, including my actual dad) are immigrants and refugees, my grandparents escaped the regime when it was still active, my grandpa experienced smth very similar to what zhang zhehan is going through, only as an official government-statuated example and without social media terror and identity fraud. as someone who grew up in the so called "nachwende" (after the fall of the berlin wall) generation, i can only imagine what it must have been like. tyk, to me, speaks about many of these things, and doing it in such a way i can stomach (but barely!!!). as a novel from a mainland chinese author, it was created in the context of censorship in a country that is keeping its citizen under tight wraps in a state of intentional illusion, dependence, anxiety, and normalized constant surveillance. here, too, i can only try to imagine what it must be like. now, it is debatable how much of what priest does (in both tyk and qiye) can be counted as "regime resitant" beyond the fact that its danmei, and i wouldnt be the right person to answer this question either; everything i know is researched, rather than lived. but i do think it has merit (is important, even) to be conscious of the wider context the text was created in, to be aware of it, as a fic writer. i know many fics rather "escape" and focus on positive things. i dont condemn not being political, everyone can do as they like. but unfortunately, im not like them. (im different. im other. do u see this stupid hat?)
not all my WIPs are like this (fortunately!!! i do need to relax!!!!) but this one is. im pretty sure its the love child of my own family's frustrating habit of not talking about the things that are important (i recently learned my grandma grew up door-to-door with a KZ, in the sense of "seeing KZ-prisoners bypassing her garden in a long trail" as a regular day-to-day occurence, and she never mentioned it ever, and i only learned of it because my grandpa shared it off-handedly but was immediately hushed back into silence), and my own habit of not talking about stuff i should talk about, probs. sometimes feelings are too big! experienes are too heavy! and ive always been better at finding answers in stories than in real life. so. this WIP!
im sorry, thats probably not the answer u thought u would get when seleccting this question! thank you for dropping into my inbox though <3 i still have your other ask and im staring at it everytime i open my inbox, feeling extremely guilty and happy at the same time
ask me weird writers questions!

Minestrone and Beef & Barley, please!
minestrone: which of your characters is the most nuturing?
Marigold Fyre, one of the leaders of the werewolf pack Camilla lives with, is the most nuturing of my characters. I didn't intend to make her such a mother figure towards Camilla, but in the pieces I have written for Camilla Marie & Company, she's become exactly the kind of parental figure Camilla needs. I'm quite happy with how her character has turned out!
beef & barley: a scene that won't make the final cut.
Honestly, a lot of what I write is self-indulgent and often not plot relevant, so there's a lot that won't make the final cuts of anything. Plus I'm not sure I have enough written for any of my wips to cut anything yet? Though, I will have to scrap several scenes between Double A and Pythian because I changed their dynamic into something more friendly.
I really thought I might at least have something for this one, but after looking through all wips... nothing.

Writer Tag Game
I was tagged by @ectogeo-rebubbles and am responding to a general tag by @cemetrygatess. If anyone wants to do this, please do and tag me so I can see it!
How many works do you have on AO3?
11
What's your total AO3 word count?
233,594 (holy shit!)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Fair Gendry & Ser Arya the Gallant (arya/gendry, a song of ice and fire)
running like water (will/hannibal + murder family, hannibal)
No Kingdom for a Blacksmith (arya/gendry, a song of ice and fire)
Princess in a Red Cape (arya/gendry, a song of ice and fire)
Caught a Long Wind (arya/gendry, a song of ice and fire)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! these days I try to respond to all of my comments. I got my current beta for running like water via comments and she's absolutely fantastic and I've made a lot of lasting fandom friends through responding to comments. I started commenting on fics as I was getting into deep space nine fics, and then when I wrote correspondence, I started replying to comments and it totally changed how I felt about my fic and how I felt about writing and sharing my work.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
So I haven't actually uhhhh....finished any of the multichaptered fics I've written (lol). I try not to have angsty? endings. that's not really how I want to resolve things. At most I'd say my endings are bittersweet, but more often a happy ending even though I hate that idea. I think I strive for a resolution but anticipation of the future.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Probably caught a long wind. That one was just a family-oriented one shot I wrote and so it's some of the more saccharine stuff I've written.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
I prefer AUs if need be but, no, I don't write crossovers.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not that I can recall, though occasionally I get weird comments that make me wonder why people are reading it. I had someone once say they hope the main characters of my fic don't get together, despite that relationship being....the central aspect of the fic...
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes. I think I would describe my approach as making it as horny as possible (this is distinct from as dirty/explicit as possible). There's also far too much porn without there being any masturbation and it's just not realistic lol. the one thing I really strive for is that the sex isn't cookie-cutter instruction manual sex that could be recycled somewhere else but feels integrated into the story and is an extension of the story. and im always pushing myself to write it better. I have a few fics I always revisit to figure out how they do such a good job.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don’t think so.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I had someone contact me for a Russian translation of rlw which I would actually love to try and read myself as someone who is a native speaker but is terrible at reading and writing it.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Fiona and I are co-writing a post-fall Hannibal fic which I'm super excited about and it's taking all my energy to not say anything about it because I adore it.
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I've been through a lot of fandoms but my first real ship was draco/ginny from (oh god) more than a decade ago and I'll always have a place in my heart for it.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
im not about to curse myself like that because I hope that I'll be able to come back to my stagnant WIPs as a stronger writing and be able to solve whatever clusterfucks I got myself into.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I do a good job with sense of place; I've always liked describing settings but I've been pushing myself to really make places as alive as the characters.
What are your writing weaknesses?
finishing a fic lmao. but actually plot resolution is incredibly hard and it's the one thing that I haven't had much practice with.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think its great when used sparingly and in interesting ways. I think it comes up a lot in Star Trek fic where people have invented languages and it makes for some really good writing. I do think leaving readers in the dark does them a disservice so that's something I keep in mind if I use it.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I wrote stories about Black Beauty in a notepad program on this tiny laptop my dad got me when I was like, ten or eleven. My first published fic was a Danny Phantom fic when I was in middle school (lol)
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Oh man. I've had such a knockout experience with running like water. I remember pitching the first two chapters to ironlotus back in december as I was just starting to be active in the hannibal fandom and trying to find a place there. I'd really enjoyed fics with Abigail as a central character but it turned out to be really rare to find, and particularly rare to find fics about her relationship with will as a father figure and all the complexities therein. I had been writing a bit of another story to feel out their relationship and then I started running like water. I didn't have any expectations of what it would be when I started and I took sort of a leap of faith and just posted what I had. The feedback I received through comments really shaped what this fic turned into. I started to hit a stride with writing and I just ended up writing so much. I also had a really great time talking to my girlfriend about working out the overarching plot so even though I was letting it take me where it wanted to go, I had a direction to go in and everything I've been writing has been towards that end goal. having an actual ending has really changed the game lmao. who knew. anyways it's been a blast. I'm happy with what I've written. I feel like I've done good work and I'm proud of it and I'm proud of what it means to everyone who tells me it resonated with them. running up is despite the warning signs because that's another fic that grabbed by my the muse and wouldn't let go.

fanfic writer tag game <3
helloooo <3 thank u for tagging me @hannie-dul-set this is so cute lol
ummmm! i think i will tag. @leejuyeeon and @seokmingiggles !! and as always anyone else who wants to <33
peum ~
1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)?
omg lets see if i can do this in order. i think the first fandom i ever wrote fanfic for was creepypasta LMAOO and then... fairy tail? then 5 seconds of summer, then maybe it 2017?? voltron legendary defender, detroit become human, monster prom and mystic messenger kind of overlapped, the arcana !!! then my hero academia, haikyuu, a Little bit of demon slayer... i think thats it lol
2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?
seventeen is all for rn, but i’m thinking of also writing for mha again and adding jjk!!
3. how long have you been writing?
oh wow for like... probably around 6 years? maybe 6 and a half
4. on which platforms do you post your stories?
rn just tumblr, i used to post more actively on ao3 but i havent since i started writing for kpop
5. what is your favourite genre to write?
ahhh like !!! comfort fics!!! i think theres something really sweet in those unspoken feelings during moments you think you’ll never forget... the idea of being with someone and you’re just so sure they’re your favorite person, and then warmth that comes with that realization... wahh
6. are you a pantser or a planner?
oh it depends i think. for longer fics i like to plan them out, but i really wing it with like timestamps or shorter ones
7. one shot or multi-chapter?
ONE SHOTS. my god i fucking suck at multi-chapter shit LMAOO ive only done 1 series like that and it was so rough for me lol
8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?
hm how do i explain this... anything that makes sense? however long it takes for it to feel like the chapter/fic is summed up or completed. i used to worry about word counts a lot but now i rarely pay attention to them, both in reading and writing
9. what is your longest published story? is it complete?
if we’re talking about multi-chaptered, then the color of you wins at 17k !! in terms of one shots, it’s for now; forever at 9k!
10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?
oh boy. i think... anything from the last like. 8 months? my svt stuff for sure!! i went a while without writing in between like january-late november 2020, and i was worried that my writing would suffer a lot... it took a sec for me to get back into the groove of things but i’m feeling happier than ever with the stuff i write now. i feel like ive matured about the way i approach my own writing and ideas, and how i do everything, and my fics make me really proud. ive started writing within different aus that i hadnt touched before, or talking about different feelings or ideas, etc... i really feel like ive grown with this most recent burst lol, and i love working on them! i get so hyped up when im in the middle of writing or even planning, im just so excited to share all of it hehe
11. favorite request you've have written and why (if any?)
ah its been so long since ive worked with requests that i cant remember anything LOL
12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?
yes. it is comfort and content. it is the feeling of love. it is holding hands on a walk in the middle of spring and smelling flowers. it is the sound of leaves when a gust of wind blows past. it is looking into ur lovers eyes and feeling nothing but pure fondness
13. current number of wips?
fuck like somewhere around 20 probably
14. three things you have noticed about your own writing?
i really like repetition (specifically in sentences if that makes sense??), LOTS of unspoken things (even if i picture a fic with an established relationship, i dont say it within the fic; and especially concerning romantic feelings, i love when things go unsaid and are FELT full force), i think a lot of detailed rambling... i really like to try and describe emotions and stuff in the most abstract and obscure ways lol i feel like it makes things a little more palpable and honest
15. a quote you like from a published story
im gonna do a few. Lol. firstly this long one from pretend people can unlearn:
“Are you…” Jeonghan starts, and when you look at him, his eyes are still on the city in front of you. “Are you ever afraid that we’ll fall out of love?”
It never occurred to you that this was love. It’s not like the love you’ve experienced in the past, not even close. But maybe… maybe that’s why you never leave, why you hold yourself back from certain arguments like it might fix everything. Maybe love is the reason why Jeonghan still seems to believe in you. Why he promises he’ll be the best thing for you despite always breaking that promise.
(Is it love, a voice in your head questions, or is it longing?)
It takes you a while to respond. “I don’t know,” you end up saying, because you really don’t. Jeonghan turns his head and looks at you, and you half expect him to start an argument in the middle of night, out on the street like this. It wouldn’t be the first time. “Would that… be okay?”
“I don’t know,” Jeonghan answers, just like you. His voice is soft. You want to reach for his hand just to hold it. “You’re still…”
He pauses, like he’s trying to find the right word. You let him take his time, for once, instead of accusing him of the worst. “I’m still?”
“Everything,” he tells you. He looks so sad and you reach out for him because it’s the only thing you can offer. You think the worst thing about your relationship with Jeonghan is that you will always believe him when he gets like this, just like you’ll believe him when he takes it back in the heat of a fight.
next is from like there isn’t something missing <3
But you’re crying into his chest because it’s not you, and it’s not him. Seungcheol wonders if it was always meant to be like this, if the two of you were always meant to part or if something… if something just went wrong, somewhere. A bump that did a bit more damage than either of you thought.
He tries not to think about it now. Tears fill his own eyes as he presses a kiss to your hair because he loved you. He truly did.
“I was so lucky to love you,” he murmurs, voice a cracked whisper. “I’m so happy I got the chance.”
When Seungcheol wakes up the next morning in an empty bed, he’s not surprised. But the Post-It note that’s dressed in your handwriting…
Well. It’s over.
and this last one from only for you, i will dance !!
“This will always be our own time,” he says. “We’ll meet here.”
You know. He says it every time. It never fails to make your heart soar.
“Our thirteenth month,” you say, just like every time. Chan smiles.
He kisses you so strong you feel yourself falling.
16. a quote from an unpublished story
ahh ok ill do a few here too!!! one is something ive begun writing, the other is one that i’ve just been working on planning out <3
Smoke blows past somebody else’s lips and partially obstructs Wonwoo’s view of you.
He hasn’t been to a party like this in a long time. It’s elegant, more of a gala than anything. He can’t remember who threw it or for what reason. It doesn’t really matter, he supposes, watching you make conversation with the partygoers. They all have old money to throw around, the symbolism stitched into their suit jackets and red-rimmed heels; remnants of it left on tables and in the contents of expensive cigars.
You play them like you are one of them, tell them the right things with a silver tongue. Wonwoo always watches, plays the part of an observer. It’s impressive, the way you float around the room like it’s nothing.
Wonwoo observes; Wonwoo knows things.
and the second one...
"you don't know me," you respond. your voice carries no bite, just a fact, and joshua knows this
"i want to," he says after a second. "if you'll let me."
and he's asking permission to be your friend, to be close to you, something so tender and strangely polite
it makes you feel almost sad
"don't expect too much," you say, a little teasing. joshua only smiles
17. space for you to say something to your readers
wahhh thank you all so much!!! when i first got into writing for kpop it was a lot different mostly because i think... i was writing stuff for different anime before, and i had built up a big following because of that and my works always did like, really exceptional in terms of notes and feedback and such, and getting into kpop... has been rough on that end 💀 but i appreciate your support thus far, even if it’s small... i’m still working towards a standard that i have for myself!!! so please be patient with me, thank you for the support !!
also please find it in yourself to leave lil comments or any sort of feedback... please..... PLEASE... any creator ever understands this struggle please always try to do this!!! for me and for any other creator you follow and enjoy content from <333

Meta writing asks: 12 & 24!
12. Do you want your writing to be famous?
This is a surprisingly difficult question to answer, but I think Im gonna have to say no. It’s not that Im actively against the idea - if I did one day somehow miraculously get published and my work because famous, it would of course be very cool. I think Im more indifferent to it - I wouldn’t necessarily care either way. For me, in my dreams of publishing a book its more about one person - I want to write something that speaks to one person, and helps them or changes them in some way. and even if there is only one reader, if they’re a good one, thats enough.
24. Would you say your writing has changed over time?
Definitely. It’s gotten a lot better, I think, which is nice. When i first started writing i was around 12/13 and it was bad lacking in a lot of ways. If this makes sense, I think its become clearer - I know what I want to say now, and how to say it, whether directly or not. there’s also the fact that, even until maybe a couple years ago, I used to place more focus on the plot, whereas now it’s kind of just there. my writing has slowly become more character-driven (to the point where in my main wip the plot is pretty unimportant in a lot of ways). Part of that is from reading a lot of character-driven novels, and part is just that I love character development so much (its my favourite part of the writing process!). This is a very rambly paragraph, but what Im trying to say is that my writing has become more like me - the focus is on what I think is important, and what I need to say, whether its popular or not, and whether it’s already been said or not (because I really do believe every person has a different take on an idea, and even if its been done, it hasn’t been done the way I’ll do it). In the past, writing was about telling a fun story, and that was all (not that there’s anything wrong with that or not); now its more than that. And its really about the characters - the complexities of themselves and their relationships with others, and how all of that comes together to say something that I think is important
Thanks for asking! 💛

11 Questions Tag
Tagged by @theevolutionofledarose thank you!
1) What’s the greatest feedback you’ve received so far, the one you carry in your heart and it still warms you? (If you haven’t published a piece of work yet, what would you like to hear the most?)
I started reading old fanfic comments to pick one and it was heartening, not going to lie. I don't think I can settle on just one. Every comment is dear to my heart, long or short.
2) Is there a trait that is a reappearing one in all your OCs? What is it? Why do you think that is?
At this point of their development, I haven't noticed any traits (yet)
3) Have you ever written fanfiction? If yes for which book/movie/series/anime/videogame, if not, if you had a chance to write for something, for which work would your write?
Yes, I write fanfiction! You can find me on AO3 and FF.net as RaisedonRadio and FortressofmyPast. (links in my bio) I've written for: Ghost Hunt (manga/anime), Final Fantasy VII & XV (games), Pandora Hearts (manga), Death Note (manga), Vampire Knight (manga), and a handful of others
4) Is there a genre you can’t imagine writing under no circumstances? Why?
No, I'm open to trying any genre!
5) Do you snack during writing? How about during reading?
Sometimes I snack when writing, but definitely when reading, lol!
6) Do you re-read/edit your story before posting anywhere or hit the button and hope for the best?
I re-read, edit, and have at least one beta look over it. :)
7) Who is the character closest to you from your own works/series/films/books? Why?
I actually can't think of a character that makes me go, 'yep, that's me.'
8) What is the smallest thing you appreciated in a character, that likely didn’t matter to others?
This is a great question, but unfortunately I can't remember any instances! I'm sure there has been, I'll need to pay more attention in the future
9) Do your wips have a message, or are written simply as a form of reading entertainment (in other words, a story for someone to chill or get lost in a fantasy world and forget all their problems, etc.)?
I don't purposely put messages in, but I don't purposely keep messages out, if that makes sense!
10) Do you delete works you don’t like or pile everything?
Pile everything, but I have to admit I didn't move everything that's on FF.net to AO3. ^^;;
11) Have you ever written anything based on a dream?
Surprisingly, I don't think so, but I have written down a few notes from dreams. Maybe one day they'll be put into something!
These are great questions, so I’m passing them along instead of making new ones!
Pulling from my activity feed - no pressure if I tag you! Hopefully you’re a writer if I’ve tagged you but I apologize if someone slips through.
