HIIII SORRY TO HOP ON THE TAGS YOU LEFT ON MY CHART BUT!!! Yeah ough the bird symbolism in Utena is so fascinating like I realized while making that chart that Kozue and Shiori are beginning of life vs end of a life in relation to birds and then someone added onto that with THESE tags:

And its insane to me like holy shit!!!!!!

BROOOOOOOO like honestly the language of symbols in utena is WILD but also the kozue birdhouse stuff always confused me a bit like I was never fully able to decipher it... This is a really cool take on it tho... But also, the way that for kozue the birds symbolise freedom, they're a "wild animal" like her (because of parental neglect I suppose) but anthys bird symbolism is expressed through the loaded bird cage visual... The swallow in Donna Donna representing freedom which is impossible to achieve if you don't have it already but which you are nonetheless pressured to aspire to... And idk something about all the birds on shiori's arena flying off into the blue sky where the first bird flew straight into a window ................ Awooga!!!!!!!

EDIT and nanami compares herself to a hen in the egg episode aka a flightless bird??? Most commonly kept for breeding and egg production????? Even though there's also more generic birds flying outside the window... What else... I feel like there were birds in some shadow girls skit but I can't remember for certain... Would not be surprised
