I love stupid overcomplicated magic systems/worls like any other nerd, but reading LOTR or Dune, both works that fit this description is such a boring dry experience wich sucks because the worldbuilding is dope as fuck

#im kinda convinced the only mediums that this kind of worldbuilding work is games due to the interactive nature #movies sort of work like Star Wars but most of the stupid worldbuilding came later on in the expanded universe #wich is also a way this kind of stuff can work #have the regular series with an average size lore dump and then a bunch of add ons later on #but that requires success first so innacessible for most of us nerds with headworlds
