Tag game: Eight shows to get to know me!
I was tagged by @lassusog thank you!
It might come as a surprise but I'm not much of a TV person. I play more video games than I watch TV — even with anime included. I also have a strong preference for animation, and despite watching many of the most popular live action TV shows — and enjoying them — most of them never got stuck in my head.
Stark Trek series
I love science. I love technology. I love astronomy. I love science fiction. I've probably watched more Star Trek than any other TV continuity. I like most of the shows, old and new, and I've found something to enjoy even in the ones that are not my preference. My favorite old Star Trek is Enterprise, which is not very popular and was — to my eternal disappointment — cancelled. Don't ask me why I like it so much, something about it just clicked with me.
Monster
If you haven't watched Monster, and you like mystery and/or psychological thrillers. You must go watch it. Now. I don't care if you don't like anime. Monster is one of those master pieces that transcendents media. Naoki Urasawa is probably one of Japan's best storytellers and Monster is one of his best works. It's full of mystery, compelling characters, and an excellent exploration of the human psyche and nature. It's a shame how overlooked this story is outside of the anime community. If there's one show/manga I would recommend it is this one.
Cosmos
Lol no one specified what type of show and this is one that impacted my life. A lot. Is anyone surprised after I put Star Trek on top? I love Carl Sagan as many people do, and seeing this love letter to the evolution of science and humanity on my TV just hits in all the right places. There's something humbling but moving in seeing how far we have come and how much more we have to go.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Excellent characters. Really good storytelling. Solid exploration of themes like grief, loneliness, sadness and duty. Not without its flaws, but I love this story so so much. It is my favorite out of everything here. The one story I rewatch once or twice a year. The 2003 anime also deserves a shout-out, and every fan must read the manga at least once. So much world building lost in adaptation.
Daredevil
This is one a lot of people here will know me for. I love superheroes, and in my opinion this is one of the best superhero adaptations out there. I can think of very few others I've liked as much, and no other lives in my head rent free.
Fruits basket
I don't watch much shōjo because I tend to like action/adventure, mystery and thrillers the best (shout-out to CLAMP), but GDI Fruits Basket made me cry like a baby every single week. Even if it has flaws and issues, I loved this story to pieces. It's just wholesome and makes me want to try harder and be a better person.
Arcane
I can't believe they made a genuinely good story based on League of Legends. Arcane is excellent. Great animation. Great music. Great characters. Great Story. One of my favorite f/f ships. I can't wait for more.
Eighty six - 86
So I like war stories and mecha. Sue me. I also like sad stories that don't end in tragedy — why I like this above Gundam. 86 checks all the boxes for me. I especially like the light novels which have more world building and politics. I love Anju who is so kind despite her pain, Raiden who is so grumpy but also so caring, and Lena who grows into one hell of a person and leader.
There are other shows I've really enjoyed watching, like House MD, BBC Sherlock, Avatar, Dragon Ball, etc, but while I really like them, I don't LOVE them.

hi im back home
after a 12 hour flight
in which my dad threw up
and i have 20 mosquito bites
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
Anyways, this has lead me to think:
Do they have planes in Stick City? (That is what the place is called, right?) Do any of the Becker siblings get car sick/plane sick/motion sick???
Wait are there other cities outside of Stick City? And if Stick City is named that because there are Sticks living in it does that mean other cities have other species???
Hold up- IMAGINE A HOLLOWHEAD CITY!!! It could be like- a Swap!AU of Super Sticks!! Like- hollowheads weren't the recessive gene and the Becker's are actually sticks?? EEEK
Also, is Stick City in the Outernet?? And if they have different worlds, would they have planets? Or areas of the web that are connected to each other with portals and stuff that count as different worlds?
Yeah I think you can tell I'm trying to make the Super Sticks and Spark AUs actually fit together.
WORLD-BUILDING IS SO HARD WHYY
i have some more questions but i think i should wait considering you've gone 2 camp or smth like that
It's funny, the moment I get back home you leave yours xd
aoshrflaouhdfpiuhdasfihsa jet lag lol
Have a nice day!!! :D And enjoy your camp!!
-R
ps if anything here is factually wrong and I've been rambling on about nothing actually true its cos i didn't bother to fact check it im lazy
Finally I have some time to answer this before the ask gets moldy-
:D Hi! Missed you! New ask yay!
-
Planes in Stick City? I never once thought about this, so here I am now thinking about it-
See this is why your asks are so helpful!! I get to world build by answering questions I hadn't thought about until right this moment- :3
-
I have decided that motion sickness is a thing that exists! Do with that what thou will. I think the hollowhead Beckers beloveds would be immune to normal motion sickness.
Red was already canonically prone to dizziness and motion sickness, hence the suppressants he'll get ahold of later in the plot when it comes up there's a minor issue with his teleporting armor. :>
[/proud-of-myself-for-casually-spoonfeeding-future-lore-to-everyone]
-
Stick City was just the fanon-wide accepted name for the Outernet city we see from time to time in canon, and when I was starting Arc One, it was the name on my brain so therefore, was used.
I suppose, it does make sense for there to be implications of a Lizard City or something-
I think Stick City is the capital of the Outernet. For the world of Super Sticks, I mean.
(Not for canon, because then that would be a really bad capital to have- You see how shabby everything seems, and how indifferent the sticks are and how small it appears, aside from the mass that is Rocket Corp-?! That's a city, but it ain't no capital-) (...Is this just how I see the canon city? Does- Does anyone else think this too-? ..Is it just me here-)
In SuperSticks, I would absolutely say Stick City is the capital, hence the name that focuses on the species known as sticks that take up 98% of the entire Outernet. And also my SuperSticks version of Stick City is a lot more industrialized and expanded, truly worthy of being considered a capital city. THE CAPITALLLLLL-
And any other neighboring cities of sticks would have different names, like, uh.. Circuit Town and.. maybe, uh... Conduction, by itself as a landmark something.
I want to spend hours of my time coming up with map accurate expansions and hyperspecfic names down to the restaurants of my imaginary Super Sticks Outernet world now-
-
There aren't planets, since the Outernet is virtual. There's basically world barriers at the edges, as I mentioned in a previous ask.
Also humans literally cannot travel to the Outernet, since it's virtual. Every stick figure is just tiny pieces of code to a human!
Can't canonically smash the very Human AU: The Spark, with the very code-structured heavy binary related stick figure society of Super Sticks, together. I need to author plot magic a portal and make a skit/non-canonical crossover.
XD
-
Now, portals that can go to different areas of the web? THAT could happen. :3
I think I'm wracking up Arc Three and Arc Four ideas, help-
[My brain works too fast, I literally just received a vague-ish idea of an extremely extensive webwide adventure in 4 to 8 seconds.]
....
HEHE Seconds-
-
:D
Thank you so much for the ask!!

Hey! 👋
I saw your post of having a hard time today, so hope this helps!!
I am about to ask you a series of questions, (of which you have the right to refuse to answer if you’re not comfortable), and hopefully this will help distract you. 😁
1. Who is your favorite TMNT brother to write fics about?
2. What fic that you have written are you the most proud of?
3. How many medical-based TMNT fics have you written?
Now enough about what you write- let’s get to know you a bit better. :)
1. What is your favorite color?
2. Have you ever watched a sunrise before? If so, where and when? (If you can remember!)
3. What is your favorite snack while you work?
4. Does your closet consist of lighter or darker colors?
5. Do you have any pets? :)
6. Are you aware that your fics make so many people very happy, and have touched all of our hearts in ways we can’t well describe? (I WILL make fanart GOSHDARN IT- There’s just SO MANY Fics to choose from HAHA)
7. Do you have any OCs that no one in particular could draw? 😁
Hope this helps you, Angelo! (Is it alright if I call you that?) You got this!! Hang in there, and remember to take things slow. Run your race at your own pace. 💙
~ Melissa
hello there friend! :) thank you very much for this ask!!
to answer your questions!
1. i would say that mikey or leo is my favourite to write just because they have a special place in my heart 🥺
2. i’d say the fic im most proud of would be my glass turtles fic. it was a lot when i was writing it and maybe the only tmnt fic ive ever had hate on?😅 but it’s a fic that i am really glad i stuck with and put out there :)
3. i love me a good sick!fic !! and any whump fics are just like. pure gold to my heart lol — i do quite enjoy writing sainw fics were mikey loses his arm or i have a soft spot for epileptic rise mikey after the movie events :) but i plan on more medical based fics because it’s all i know lol
and as for me !!
1. i love the colour orange :) my bedroom is orange and everyone told me it would look silly but it’s so warm and glowy and makes me feel so safe :)
2. i had a really amazing opportunity to go to thailand just before the 2020 pandemic where i stayed in a little villa on a beach. i was having pretty bad jet lag and woke up early nearly every morning i was there and would just go sit on this quiet, empty beach with the warmth on my face as the sun came up. this was just a few months before my life got really hectic with family members becoming ill/dying and i just appreciate that i got to have that to kind of hold onto, in a way. to always remind me of the goodness in the world <3
3. i have a terrible habit of underrating at work 😬 but sometimes the kitchen staff are nice enough to make me up some potato croquettes that are just so so nice haha
4. my closet is a complete mismatch! :D i dont really have a set style of pretty much anything in my life so its a healthy mixture of lights and darks and all in between :)
5. i do!! i have a black cat that is just the sweetest lady in the whole world :3 she likes to sleep under the blankets curled up next to me and chew on my hair lol
6. oh 🥺🥺🥺 that really does mean so much.. i love writing fic and have done for the last, like 10 years ive been active in fandom spaces online. i have so much fun interaction with people through them and whenever someone tells me what it means to them is just like, maybe possibly the best feeling in the world. i appreciate that so much, thank you. (and any and all fanart is just gonna make my heart explode in the best way possible)
7. i don’t have any OCs for tmnt really. i mean, a long long time ago i had a fic idea of another turtle that reunites with them as is like. a motherly kind of figure but that never took off the ground and i haven’t really revisited it in like the last 8ish years lol but who knows! maybe 2025 will be the year of OCs!!
and it’s perfectly fine :) you can call me angelo, angel — i know a few people have and i think it’s really sweet :’) thank you so very much for this ask, im holding it very close to my heart <33
have an amazing day, thank you again !!

5/30/17
Well it turns out that sleeping in here isn’t really a thing. I don’t know if its because of jet lag, excitement, or class lol. This morning I was up at 6:30 and realized that it was about 1:30 pm for my parents and decided to give them a call. It was nice to talk to them and fill them in.
It was the first day of classes so we got coffee at this cute little hole in the wall shop and made our way to the library. We had class from 9-12:00 and then made our way down to Federation Square and ate at an Italian place. Everyone is so nice here but I feel like we stick out like a sore thumb. Alley culture is a huge thing in Melbourne and it is so cool. Literally everything is like a cute little hole in the wall place and for blocks and blocks in the alleys all you can see is restaurants, bars, street art, and little shops.
After lunch we rushed over to Ian Potter Centre so we could make it there by 1:00, and were there for about 2 hours. There was some really nice art work and my favorite exhibit was “Kill Primitivism”. It is so interesting to see how aboriginal people are portrayed in art and in the past and how they are shown today. After the exhibit we went to some of the famous graffiti alleys took pictures and just took it all in. Im obsessed with the alley culture here and the art is speculator.
In one of the alleys I got a donut from “Doughnut time” and got the slim shady; Nia got a milkshake and we talked to some locals. One women and I talked about racism and multiculturalism pretty extensively and it was nice to hear her perspective. She had a lot of questions about what I noticed and how it was back home. It is definitely interesting, every single local I have talked to has claimed that Australia is very multicultural and most have said that if there is racism that it is towards Muslims.
Nia and I left there to make our way to Eureka Skydeck and we did so well! Nia and I made our way there by ourselves and back. It included operating the tram system, walking through the city, and somehow making it back to our apartment. We struggled a little bit but we made it and that is all that matters! We came back and were exhausted, we watched a class movie and then went to China town for dinner.
China town was good, but interesting. We sat down and the waiter brought this iPad sort of thing with a full menu in multiple languages and it was really confusing. All of us were like why is this so difficult? However, the food was good. Its always nice to have good company with dinner though. @buckner-in-australia @ali-takes-australia @morgandelgado @kaylajoaustralia
P.S. I am almsot postive that I am getting sick and will need to go see the chemist.
Things I learned today: maps isn’t a reliable way to get around Australia, pretty much anywhere, you go up to pay rather than the check being brought to you, locals are so nice and are just as curious about us as we are about them, Melbourne may be one of the coolest places in the world, alley culture is amazing, and I may never come back.
