Just a reminder: you do not have to pay a fee to be part of a community. Anyone who suggests otherwise is a gatekeeping capitalist.

Also, to clarify, community =/=ideological bubble. Community is diverse and hard to develop. You don't just get a bunch of people together in one spot and say that's a community.

Community requires trust in one another, an understanding that differences of perspective can and will happen, and each oerson putting in effort. There is no leader. There is no heirarchy. There is no creator. Every individual must choose for themselves to either be a community member or be distanced. Either choice is fine. Just don't conflate community with a group of people in one spot together.

#i gotta stop watching streamers they kinda suck #it's nice to have the illusion of company on overnights but that capitalism of it all really irks me #no community should be behind a paywall #and im speaking as someone who is gifted subs all the time. i would never pay for a sub #im hopind some day to maybe start streaming to actually build a real community fee free #the thing is that is entirely and option but i never see anyone doing it for free #i have and it was fun but i worried about where i currently work #but after i leave i would def be interested bc i like to do things myself when i feel critical of other's methods #i just don't have empathy tbh for most of them. some maybe. but most nah #getting paid to build a community is one thing. getting people who want a community to pay you to let you in is wildly inappropriate imo
