Extremely important point!! I also feel like the ability to provide feedback on incorrect subtitles is a functionality that has to exist in a way that is immediately visible and easy to use. Many many streaming services I use don't have intuitive ways to give feedback on the quality of their captioning, or simply lack the ability to report issues with videos that aren't related solely to playback or technical issues.
Here's a fun video made by Angry Deaf People Productions on the subject!

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished
#im hearing but have attention and audio processing issues that range in severity day to day#captions are so so important for me to understand whats being said but i can watch a video without them#its wild to me to not give those people who *dont* have that same luxury the ability to enjoy the art that you make#it does make me really appreciate the creators like Philosophy tube who go in and personally ensure that their subtitles are accurate#AND ABIGAILS VIDEOS CAN BE HOURS LONG#Youtube
