This is literally so cool

91° South

A painting based on a dream I had, from no less than 7 years ago. Honestly I don't really remember the dream itself anymore, but in the morning I'd immediately scribbled down these weird white killer whale-esque creatures and that's all I had left of that original vision. All I remember well is that they were completely off-white with big square foreheads and little nubbins, and lived in the Antarctic. But the scribble sat unfinished for years because I just couldn't paint what I saw in my head. Now I finally could! It's been really fun tinkering away at this and I'm very happy to have finished a "real" painting again. I hope you'll enjoy these blorbos from my head.

There were two versions, one with just the trio and one with a whole pod surfacing in the ice hole too. In hindsight that might have been the more visually interesting option. But it's also more cluttered and more work so...

#outside of drawing ideas the biggest reason i wanna learn how to paint and all that cool stuff is to be able to paint dreams #i had this supper cool one where I was on some big ship with these dudes in a uniform #and we were next to a cracker plant in a larger river #they had everyone on the boat go fishing but they’d have you fish by holding onto the rows of the boat and using your other hand to hold #onto the net and then they’d dunk you in the water #with a bunch of other people of course to help #and I had another cool dream where i was in a gamestop or toy store but it was at the top of this mountain #and there was a doorway sized bit of the mountain where you could exit and jump into a massive ocean #and i jumped out and ended up drifting to some small bits of sand in the ocean and some super flaccid pine trees #like they were bendy from being in the water so much and it was super dark out by the timr i got there #im gonna stop yapping now but theres anothew like 2 paragraphs i could wwrite about this dream
