October 11, 2017 IT’S MY FIRST DAY IN SEOUL and it was amazing haha It was only the first day and I already absolutely loved it to death. We arrived in Seoul at around 6:30 am, because Seoul is 1 hour faster than HK time. But we got through immigration and security with no issues, and I managed to get a sim card as well. Priorities! I need a way to contact my baby at all times. ^_^ But we started having problems when it came to withdrawing money. I didn’t bring a lot of cash on me because I figured I would just withdraw from the bank, and the ATM at the airport just wouldn’t let me? It kept saying that there was some data error or something idk. But it really got me shaken up so I ended up having to exchange 200 hkd for some money. Then we had to find the bus that takes us to our hostel, and it was also really confusing because instead of paying on the bus, we have to buy a ticket before lining up for the bus LOL But that was all fine and all because when the bus came I was SHOOK. The bus was SO NICE LOL the seats were HUGE and all leather and so much leg room and only 2 seats per row on each side… yeah it was really nice. Got that luxury transportation. It was bad though because they don’t have English translation at all for any of the stops so it was just up to me to try and guess what station we were at each time lmao… We almost missed our stop because we were asleep but the bus driver remembered that this was our stop so he stopped one more time and announced it again. When we got off the bus we were so lost LOL like google maps doesn’t work in Seoul for some reason, like it won’t give me any sort of walking distance or guide only train systems. So we were freaking lost as fuck LOL and I couldn’t tell how far we were from the hostel so we were like fuck it just call an uber. So we called an uber and this is where it gets really funny. OH YEAH the ubers here are also ridiculously nice. All of the ubers are luxury cars, and the drivers all wear suits, and when they pick you up and drop you off they will run to open the doors for you. It’s quite the luxury treatment LOL but anyways we got picked up by the driver, and he looks at the map and then looks at us really confused? And im like whats the problem? And he says something in Korean and gestures to this community area behind us. And basically he was telling us that our drop off point was literally like a 2 minute walk behind us LOLOL yeah so we were like … oh…and he was like would you still like me to drive you there? And we were like yes please LOL yeah what a way to start off our day haha it was so funny We couldn’t check in at our hostel yet, but we just dropped off our luggage and we went to this small restaurant next to it for some breakfast. It was a soup restaurant and they had like all types of braised soups. Most of them were hangover soups HAHA. It was really funny when we walked in because the menu was on the wall and it was just straight up in Korean and me and Vivian were like … time to play Russian roulette and just pick a random one? But thankfully they noticed we were foreign so they brought out the English menu. I’m honestly not even sure what I ordered, but the soup tasted good with rice and kimchi so I’m satisfied!! After that, we headed to Gyeongbokgong Palace, in an uber of course hehe, and when we were getting dropped off, I saw this place that was renting out hanboks. So we just spontaneously decided to go play dress up. If we dress up we also get into the palace for free so why not ^__^ I picked out this royal blue one because idk it just caught my eye while I was sorting through it all and I think I looked QUITE ADORABLE IN IT wouldn’t you agree? It was also really funny because we kept getting stopped by people asking to take pictures with us. I know I must be giving off that princess vibe to people ^__^ But we just explored around the palace and walked around the courtyards, its beautiful haha. I wish I could own a place like this and just be like all of this is MINEEEE. We only had 2 hours, so it was a bit rushed, but I think we got a lot of cute pictures, and we explored a good part of the whole area haha. After that, we wanted to go visit a cat café! So we headed there, and we got dropped off on the edge of the street so while we were walking in to find the café, we got a bit distracted by some of the shops there.. hehe I ended up buying this maroon headband that makes me look sooo Asian but worth it ^__^ I also bought these two really cute soju bottle key chains for you and van BUT I FUCKING LOST THEM. I have no idea where they went ]: I’m pretty sad about that sigh but its okay I’ll get you guys new ones. The cat café was really cool! They had like 16 different cats there and they were all different breeds. Most of them were pretty indifferent to us though, like the cats just pretended like we weren’t there and went about their business LOL they were clearly not scared or anything at all. There was this one giant and fluffy cat who loved me though omg like I was scratching him and he would just not stop purring and while I was scratching his belly, he used both of his paws to hold my hand there :’) so precious. I got an orange juice as my drink, and .. idk why the fuck they put ice in it WHY IS THAT A THING HERE LOL like if I want juice they give me ice….. like that is just so weird to me LOL I get the whole soda thing but juice?? After the cat café, we headed back to our hostel cause it was time for us to check in! Our hostel was so nice holy shit haha I think I would stay there again if I went back to korea. It’s so ridiculously clean, and it feels like walking into someone’s apartment almost. The beds and the room were all white, and idk it was just so clean LOL a HUGE step up from Singapore. We basically checked in and just relaxed for a little bit to freshen up before we headed out for dinner! For dinner we went to try this place called Jin Mi Sik Dang for the famous soy marinated crabs. I actually ate it and although it did disturb me a little bit because it was raw, it was really quite good haha. It was cool because when you walk in, you don’t order anything, you just sit (on the floor) and they bring out all the side dishes, steamed egg, soup, rice, and the soy marinated crabs. Basically they give you this set and then they give you 1 crab per person that’s all cut up. It’s around 33 usd per person but I think it was worth it. My legs were numb though… sitting on the floor seems cool, but it’s so uncomfortable LOL I enjoyed the dinner! I can see why it’s such a famous dish, once I get past the fact that it’s raw.. After dinner, we wanted to get dessert, so I found this icecream place called SoBak, which is supposed to be really famous in Korea too. It was alright. I like matchalove better. Maybe because they put a fucking flower into my ice cream… LOL But like I think the ice cream here is definitely more authentic but that’s also probably why I didn’t like it. Like it was insanely creamy and rich, but the matcha was really grainy and it wasn’t very sweet. I think the one thing I can’t stand with ice cream is grainy-ness, but I realized that most of the matcha icecream I’ve tried here is grainy LOL We headed back to our hostel, and we really intended to go out and check out the nightlife of Korea, but honestly we were both running on less than 2 hours of sleep and we were ready to knock out. LOL like literally throughout the day, everytime we sat down in the uber, even for like 2 minutes, we would pass out. So we were like oh lets just relax for like 20 minutes, and we passed out until 2 am HAHA like I woke up at 2 am super disoriented and I was like ??? and apparently according to Vivian I was just sitting straight up on my bed staring at the floor LOL So then we both just got up and got ready for bed LOL it’s okay though, I think an early night +a good night’s rest was exactly what we needed haha Amazing way to start of seoul :’)
