ok im back. context: i'm a 21 y/o transmasc nonbinary lesbian, she's a 26 year old cis bi girl

so we were talking abt the twitter rebrand bc she hadn't seen anything abt it and i thought it was hilarious, and i made an offhand comment about how elon is a dumbass. she DEFENDS him, and when i mention his daughter is trans and he misgenders her she STILL defends him. idk how we got to this part but she was going on abt how people shouldnt talk about gender anymore bc theres so much emotion attached. its so funny bc she doesnt know im a gender abolitionist

so we kept going in circles abt how theres biologically a difference between trans and "biological" women (and starts describing afab characteristics as being "biologically female" which is such a lovely thing to say to a nb person?), i correct her and say that she means cis, somehow she's never heard that word before which tells me shes not really talking to trans/nb people about this lol. she then refuses to use the word cis/cisgender because she's never heard it before so it makes her uncomfortable LMFAO. i don't even touch on how transphobic it is to push the narrative that trans people are somehow lesser than cis people bc i don't have the energy

eventually i tell her that her dividing everything into the dichotomy of male/female is. not reflective of reality bc sex is a spectrum. i mention a few different ways one can be intersex (and the weird part is she used to be a vet so she's seen animals with both genitalia before? and she mentioned this when i brought up how sex isnt a binary either ??)

eventually she just gets kinda quiet and admits that she's not gonna change her mind. bc of the bible. bc she believes in adam and eve and all tht nonsense. and yeah anyone is allowed to believe what they want, but when your beliefs go directly against reality its ??????

i also warned her abt making sure she's not sourcing her info from terfs bc a lot of the stuff she said abt "biological females" sounded like straight up terf rhetoric and she told me she wasnt going to. lol. so u wanna hear from the oppressor but not the people being murdered in broad daylight for existing? not the people who cant come out of the closet because its illegal where they live? literally just any trans person? k

eventually i started feeling like that "talking to trans ppl abt gender vs talking to cis people abt gender" meme and gave up and just told her to do some research and look into what trans people have to say on this. its still so surreal tho? like theres a lot i missed bc i was intoxicated while we were having this convo but holy shit? i hate christians
