hey i'm trying to get into AJJ but am bad with listening new music so if it's not too much trouble, what songs (/albums) you'd recommend to begin with?

hi!!! it rlly depends! honestly overall id reccomend the “people who eat people” album since its such a classic and because sean (lead singer) plays alot of songs from there during lives and concerts, but it depends on your taste!

oh god sorry, infodump about each album ahead, but overall id reccomend listening to people who eat people or knife man first? look em up on spotify and pop that bad boy on shuffle! other ajj fans feel free to lend opinions!!!!!

like gritty edgy sometimes upbeat songs? listen to candy cigarettes and cap guns! (personally i dont really reccomend it, but this is their first album and sean personally doesnt like it much anymore since he was an edgy 17 year old, but ngl lady killer is still a fun song)

like moshing and existencial angst? try people who eat people! it’s honestly a grab bag of the most fast paced, punkish fun songs and some of the calmer songs with still punk “fuck the current state of my life im gonna fix it by god” kinda message. it’s arguably the most well known album and has “brave as a noun” on it, their most popular song!!! really good, lotsa headbangers

personally i havent listened to much of can’t maintain, rompilation, or christmas island, but my friend would absolutely reccomend christmas island to you haha, it has one of the most moshable punk songs on it (kokopeli face tattoo) and from the few songs ive listened from it its pretty emotion packed and sounds more raw? and cool electric instruments :-)

The bible 2 is amazing but that is personal bias, if u want to have your punk awakening listen to bible 2 or people who eat people tbh

Knife man is a classic tbh, its a very mixed bag with lotsa variety (No One is my FAV) but it is so much of rockin punk angst. its iconic for being the album u listen to when youre going THRU IT. mental breakdown album.

and last but not least their latest album good luck everybody is amazing, its a safe start but it is kinda different from the rest of their songs and very politically influenced but that absolutely doesnt make it bad, it SLAPS. the song “maggie” from it stems from “black dog” and it hurts the heart. i do reccomend giving it a listen
