Misconceptions, Miscommunication, and Misinformation Pt63
Inspired by @ozmav Maribat AU
AO3   Beginning   Previous   Next
When Drake rolled his eyes it took all of Damian’s self control to not either attack him or go get the Horse Miraculous and shove him into outer space. He was saved from committing murder as Ladybug came in through the window. Drake’s shocked face was incredibly satisfying as Ladybug walked to stand shoulder to shoulder with him. The sheer disdain on her face as she looked at the caffeine addict brought a smirk to his face.
“You told her who you were? That’s something we need to know Damian.” The chiding tone, as if he was talking to a spoiled child, just made Damian want to hit him again.
“She figured it out on her own. I don’t see how it’s necessary information for any of you since you’re not supposed to be here. Not to mention you all refuse to give me information I need to know to do my job so why should I do you the courtesy of keeping you informed?” He could practically feel Ladybug vibrating with the need to scold him for being rude but she kept it in as a show of solidarity. He appreciated that more than he could express.
“We do not withhold information that you need Damian.” Even Ladybug narrowed her eyes at Drake’s tone.
“So I’m just imagining the time you all neglected to tell me there was a mass break out and I walked into a meeting between Scarecrow and the Penguin. Or there was the time you were all running a sting with Catwoman and rather than telling me you switched to a different comm frequency so I wouldn’t get in your way, so when I needed backup to deal with the Riddler I couldn’t contact any of you. There was also the time-”
“That’s enough Damian. This is a subject that should be discussed in private.” Damian just gave a derisive snort. What he meant was it was something to be discussed when he had backup. They were all hypocrites.
“Then that discussion won’t be happening for a while.” Ladybug’s voice was firm and Drake actually looked taken aback. He’d seen her take on the Justice League, this really shouldn’t surprise him. “Damian is an integral part of my team and I won’t leave him alone with you since it seems likely that one or both of you will be Akumatized if you remain in the same space. You have a choice. Either accept our terms for staying or I’ll send you back to where you came from.” The finality in her tone caused Drake to pause.
“Damian is a minor, he can’t just stay here on his own.” It was obvious Drake was trying not to be patronizing and failing miserably.
“I know of at least two families that are willing to host him. One of those being the Mayor himself.” Damian had to struggle to hide his shock. When had she arranged that? Or was she bluffing? He didn’t think she was bluffing. He could practically see Drake’s mind working, trying to find an argument. Ladybug just rolled her eyes. “Kaalki, Tikki merge.” A flash of light and her costume had a slightly brownish tint. “Voyage.”
The portal opened and she shoved Drake through before giving Damian an exaggerated bow and gesturing for him to proceed her. He rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the slight smile on his face. It vanished when he stepped through and into the Batcave. This wasn’t going to be pretty.
-----------------------------------------------
Ladybug stepped through the portal and dropped Kaalki’s transformation, immediately giving the Kwami sugar so she could leave when she wanted. She didn’t know what she’d been expecting, but this certainly wasn’t it.
She was in a cave, an actual cave. For some reason she’d always assumed that the Batcave was more of an honorary title. This was… not what she’d been expecting. She turned her attention to the people staring at her, most of them in pajamas except an older gentleman in a suit. Also not what she’d expected. She turned her attention to Bruce Wayne trying to channel Chloe so she didn’t pass out.
“Care to explain to me why you suddenly decided it was a good idea to go against my wishes and send another of your team to Paris?” Bruce frowned at her in confusion before turning to a man that looked to be in his mid twenties.
“I thought you said you texted Damian to get this cleared.” The younger man, who was dressed in robin themed pajamas and ridiculous slippers with bats on them, pulled out his phone.
“I did, here see for yourself.” He passed the device to Mr. Wayne who read it before rolling his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose.
“This is a draft, you never actually sent it.” The man’s eyes went wide and she would have laughed at his horrified expression if she weren’t trying to maintain a professional demeanor. Mr. Wayne turned back to address her. “I apologized for the inconvenience, but surely you understand my position. I can’t allow Damian to remain in Paris alone.” The look on Damian’s face said he was seconds from murdering someone.
“First of all, he’s not alone. Second, you let him remain in the home of our top suspect for weeks without feeling he was in danger. Third, I will not have someone who refuses to even hear, let alone consider my terms stay in Paris.” That caused everyone else to look at the one Damian had referred to as Drake.
“Damian insisted that I keep information from you, I couldn’t agree to that.” None of them seemed sure how to respond to that.

TWCasks: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, please! (~agentnatesewell)
thank you so much for the asks mar! 💕
10. Did Murphy bite your detective at the end of Book 1?
- no oh my god surprisingly, he didn’t?!? which is funny because i fucked up just about everything else in my playthrough - murphy got away, sanja died, falk joined the rogues; the fact that murphy didn’t bite alex was the one thing i got write lmao.
but honestly, the part of me that ADORES the hurt/comfort trope was kinda sad about that because i just wanted to see nate tenderly trace the marks he left on her neck/wrist and just hold her tight you know?! 🥺imma definitely try to get bitten in my next playthrough lmaoo.
20. Did Falk sign the treaty with the Agency? Did he side with the rogue supernaturals?
-oops i kinda already answered this but yeah- he joined the rogues. but he didn’t attack alex so he still ended things peacefully. alsoooo, was he FLIRTING?!?!? wtf wtf i wanted to see where that was going im so curious i really hope he makes a reappearance. also, mans got a good fashion sense ill give him that 😌
30. Has your detective gotten closer with Rebecca as the books went on?
-she has! in the beginning i chose the option where their relationship is very tense & horrible due to her constant absences. but its very very clear that rebecca loves alex so much and truly cares about her and honestly my heart breaks every time the ever-stoic rebecca looses her cool at the thought of loosing her daughter. also omg that scene were she gave A the DMB and was willing to risk her career for her daughter OH GOD.
so yeah over time alex could see how much her mom cared and while she still has a few walls up when it comes to her mom, she’s willing to try again. i remember the scene where nate tried to tell her how much her mom cares about and she kinda snapped at him and told him to not tell her how to handle her family so its kinda nice to see how far their relationship has come.
40. Do you have a TWC themed blog?
-HAHAHA you know i do ;) ghdjsjss its funny cause i never thought i would make a sideblog but here we are lmaoo im really happy i made it though everyone in this fandom has been amazing so far ❤️
50. Any HCs about Wayhaven (the town itself)?
- oh i have a hc where the town has weekly town meetings in which the town selectsman who basically lives & breathes wayhaven & is weirdly patriachral about the town drones on about all the useless trivia that took place in the town that week. also in these town meetings, people who have conflicts with another are supposed to come out to the front and hash it out with one another with the town selectsman acting as the judge while the rest kinda become the jury. also the issues are almost always so trivial and nonsensical like stealing someone’s parking spot lol.
- oh oh also since its such a small town, they obviously dont have a proper cinema hall but they have this little makeshift movie theatre with only one movie option per week and instead of comfy sofas there are chairs and you can only buy one bag of popcorn because there has to be enough for everyone. oooo ooo and its a very popular date spot for the teens of wayhaven so i can see alex bringing nate back there for a date and i can imagine the movie being some historical fiction and nate is super interested but alex couldnt care less and keeps distracting him with kisses and he reallly doesnt mind lmaoo.
-ok ok im rambling now but i hc that my detective alex might have a slight caffeine addiction (like me lmao) and haley tries to lecture her on it and sometimes doesn’t give her coffee cause its like her fourth mug of the day lmao but then alex begs and pouts and she just relents hahahaa
(also yes most of these were inspired by gilmore girls cause stars hollow reminds me of wayhaven minus the murders and the vampires lol)
from this ask!

|Never Look Back III|
⇀ Two runaways meet on a train, neither have a destination ahead of them. All they know is the never want to look back.
Word Count: 2,430
|M.list|
Tumblr media
After spending a few days, listlessly wandering through the unknown streets of the small town, you figured that it was about time for you to move on. Wanderlust filling every inch of your mind and heart as you “discovered” what you assumed was everything that this town had to offer. Listening to the small voice in the back of your head that prodded at you to move on to a new city, you decided it was time.
Your alarm blared in your ear, signaling the start of a new day. Rolling out of the lumpy motel bed, as the last remnants of sleep left your body. You prepared yourself for what would be your last day in the quaint town. Making quick work of packing all of your belongings and double checking before you headed to the front desk to check out of your room. Taking a deep breath as you walked out of the front doors of the motel, you smiled softly to yourself at the thought of a new adventure awaiting you.
However, before you could get two steps out of the door your stomach churned, erupting in a loud noise reminding you that you did, in fact, need to eat. The man next to you threw a disgusted look and making you scoff. Staring straight back at the man who had unfortunately crossed you before you had your caffeine, you made one of your classic sarcastic remarks. “What, you never heard anyone be hungry before?” Even going the extra mile to introduce him to your middle finger while mumbling a few curse words. After deeming the man properly scolded, you turned to make your way to the cafe down the street in search of the croissant that seemed to be calling your name.
Five minutes into your hunt for food, you finally arrived at a cafe that had the smell of freshly baked bread and coffee wafting directly to your nose, triggering another response from your famished stomach. Rushing into the establishment as if it were a long lost lover awaiting your embrace, you practically sprinted to the cashier to order yourself a cold, bitter drink and warm croissant. Moving to the end of the bar you waited patiently for your order to be called, eyeing the poor barista like a man starved as they eyed you back warily and with equal fervor, setting the food down quickly. Moving in, you snatched up your food and drink making your way to the back, keeping an eye on the one empty seat as you made a beeline for it. Mouth salivating at the inviting warmth radiating from the food in your hands,
Had you been paying attention you would have realized that your happiness would soon be short lived. If only you had known just how quickly your happiness could be ripped away. The cause of such sadness coming in the form of stupid, neon circle. Oh, that stupid plastic disc.
One second you were standing up right, happiness radiating from every part of your body and the next, you were on your hands and knees praying like a sinner in church to whatever god had cursed you, your coffee and croissant nowhere to be found. You swear you almost sobbed, although you finally registered after a few brief moments of self pity, that your food and drink had to have landed somewhere, and if it wasn’t the floor then...giving a quick look around, something bright green caught your eye, your head snapping towards it, eyes squinting to focus, for some reason it seemed so familiar not quite able to place it in your memories. Suddenly, a deep voice reached your ears, shaking you from your stupor. The voice registering in the recesses of your mind, until it all hit you like a truck. ‘Frisbee, park, Felix...FELIX’
You hopped to your feet to find the same blonde boy from days ago covered in your cold drink. Remnants of your croissant scattered over his body in pieces. “Oh my gosh Felix I’m so so sorry, I tripped over your Frisbee, i'm a damn fool, I wasn’t watching where I was going and I just-“ The boy let out a hearty chuckle, interrupting your nervous rambling. You stood frozen wondering if you should be laughing as well, you were never good with social cues. Noting your confusion his chuckles died down as he placed his hands onto your shoulders in a light hearted gesture. “You and my Frisbee just don’t get along very well huh?” Picking up the offending plastic disc, he continued. “First the sandwich, now a coffee, it’s racking up quite a debt isn’t it?”  You dropped your head flustered. “It’s not your fault” you mumbled, glancing up to him you took a good look at the damage your coffee had caused “I- uh...sorry about the shirt” You stuttered, moving to grab napkins off of his table in hopes that it would soak up the remains of your coffee. Grabbing your wrist, he pushed it back down to your side. “Forget it, no big deal.” He smiles wide at you, his toothy grin infectious as you made a slight smile back. “Let me buy you another drink since I'm kind of the reason you dropped it.” Looking at him in disbelief, you searched your brain for the right words to say, how could he be so kind? You asked yourself.
After a minute of silence, he waved his hand in front of you, “So I take it you don’t want coffee?, I can get you something else?” Shaking your head you brought yourself back to reality. “No no don’t worry about it, I don't need to feed my caffeine addiction anymore anyway.” Rejecting his kind offer you chewed in your bottom lip, crushing the flesh between your teeth as you thought about how delicious it all sounded, However, you body betrayed your words as your stomach growled once more. Your cheeks growing red as you looked down at your shoes to avoid further embarrassment. As if he could sense your distress, Felix stifled a laugh and spoke once more with a tight lipped smile on his face from holding back his laughter. “Oh hush, sit down and i’ll be back”  nodding your head slightly and taking the vacant seat across from his with a huff, you knew you weren’t going to get out of this interaction easily. Although, you could also say that you didn't exactly want to either.
Minutes later he came back and sat a drink and a fresh croissant in front of you. Drool beginning to form in your mouth as you picked it up, almost attacking the bread you had waited ages for. “There you are- whoa! Someone’s a bit hungry.” Chuckling, you reminded yourself that there was company and table manners were a thing. Swallowing your food, you looked at the man in front of you like he was your savior, smiling wide at him as your hunger subsided, leaving behind a pleasant and warm feeling. “Thanks Felix..” you said quietly, looking down at your drink to distract from your nerves. “No problem.” He said as he smiled down at your flustered state, before asking what you knew would inevitably come up. “So...how come you never texted?” You stopped drinking mid swallow, as you sucked in a small breath, causing you to choke on the cold beverage. Patting your chest in hopes of catching your breath, you looked at the man in front of you who was currently watching you with amusement. Not too sure how to answer, you went with one of your favorites in situations such as this one: “I don't know.”
As if he expected to hear these words tumble from your mouth, he made a deadpan expression, voice monotone as he quipped back, “Good excuse.” Tilting your head at the audacity of the man before you, you quickly recovered your sarcastic nature, hiding beneath the anxiety you were feeling. “Hey you have my number too, you could have texted me first. I’m shit at starting conversations.” you laughed as you spoke the last of the sentence, finding it hard to be serious in his presence. Studying you for a good minute, he looked from the window and then back to you, as if contemplating your words. “So..Points were made.” he began, his smile reappearing from the deadpan expression he wore moments before. “But, now that we’ve met again how about I give you that tour we talked about?”
You took a moment to think, it was your last day and you had seen pretty much everything you had thought was worth seeing. The cynical part of you wanted to say no, because you didn’t want to get too attached to someone you probably wouldn’t see again.  The more optimistic part of you wanted to let loose and try to have some fun on your last night in town, it’s what you had come for anyways. Shrugging your shoulders, you looked back to the man awaiting your answer “Sure, why not.” His face beamed with an even wider, more radiant smile. (If that was even possible) “We’re gonna have to stop by my place first since im kinda covered in someones sticky drink.” He chuckled out. Swatting lightly at his shoulder, he laughed out loud “It was an accident, I said sorry!, it was the frisbee’s fault!” You joined in on his laughter as you both stood up to leave. “I'm just teasing you. Come on, let’s get out of here.” Felix threw his frisbee inside his backpack before standing up and slinging it over his shoulder and heading towards the door. You followed suit with your drink in hand, careful not to trip over anything else. As you made your way to his place you falling into a light conversation as you matched pace with him.
“So how long are you in town for?” Taking a sip of your drink you pretended to think about your answer. “Until about 10pm tonight.” You said nonchalantly. He stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, you stopping abruptly as well as you looked back at the impromptu tour guide. “Why so soon?” He asked, confusion marking his features. Not knowing how to respond, you simply shrugged. “No real reason to stay” you said softly, he could detect the tinge of sadness that came with the words that had tumbled effortlessly from your mouth. Walking up next you as he beckoned you to follow him, you both continued to walk in thick silence for a few minutes.  “Could I possibly convince you to stay? At least one more day?” He asked quietly, as if he were worried he’d overstepped his boundaries by asking that question. Your lips formed into a coy smile as you looked at the confident boy turn into the shy one you met back at the park. “Make it worthwhile and I'll think about it” you teased. The boy bounced up and down on his toes like an excited child “Don’t worry, I'll make it the best day of your life.” He said excitedly as he began to walk a bit faster, laughing you responded “You can try.”
After finally arriving at his place he threw the door open and loudly shouted “VOILA, welcome to my humble abode!” He threw his bag to the ground and pulled you inside. “Take a seat, make yourself comfy. I’ll be right back”  as he went to his room to change you sat on the couch continuing to sip your coffee. The condensation from the cup making your hands wet, standing up to find a napkin of some sort, you took the liberty of glancing over the house on your journey for napkins. Seeing it's walls covered in family photos and miscellaneous decorations. It brought a cozy feeling, looking at the photos you realized that Felix wasn’t hard to spot in any photo. His smile giant smile a welcoming constant in every single shot he had taken with friends and family. Your mind wandered, what things were those smiles hiding. Every family has something behind their happy facade and you were quite curious as to what his was. Not that you were going to pry. It’d be hypocritical to since you weren’t to keen on sharing things about yourself either.
You were snapped from your thoughts as you heard a loud bang come from upstairs Looking around for any obvious force that caused the noise, you wondered of your new friend was okay. “Felix did you fall??” You yelled out. He responded quickly to your call of concern. “No I just dropped my shirt!!” Narrowing your eyes in his direction you spoke back skeptically, “That sounded awful loud to be just a shirt!” You were met with silence, after a few seconds he answered you back, stuttering slightly. “I- i was in the shirt” Taking a minute to process his words, you couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “Dear lord, Felix be careful!”
Soon you heard footsteps coming down the stairs, the familiar face of a certain, clumsy boy greeting you, this time with a faded pink dusting his face. He cleared his throat and fixed his shirt, as you choked back more laughter for his sake. “Let’s get out of here. You can leave your bag here if you’d like that way you don’t have to trudge it around all night.” Looking from him to your bag, one thought crossed your mind. “How long do you plan for us to be out?” you asked. “Until at least one.” Sighing in relief, you shrugged your shoulders. “That’s like 3 hours away. I can carry it.” He smirked at you, letting a small noise escape his mouth at your naivety “Oh I meant one in the morning, sorry should have clarified.” Taking in your incredulous expression, you placed your bag on the floor. “What the fuck are we gonna do that takes that fucking long?” You hissed at him. “I guess you’ll have to wait and see” His tongue poked out from his lips and his eyes squinted shut. You heart was telling you to trust him but your brain said to hold back as you’ve only just met the man who stood before you. However, you couldn’t deny that since meeting him, the itch you had to quickly leave had subsided greatly. Tossing the thoughts through your mind all that could come out of your mouth was, “Fuck it, i’m here for a fun time not a long one.”
