i still havent actually watched the movie (and likely never will. i like the musical too much to get burned like that) but i have listened to the soundtrack. not even all of it yet so, grain of salt, but. the leads arent like, bad. by any means. but theyre really go girl give us nothing. thats all im saying.
#the fact that they put idina menzel and kristen chenoweth in there and they kind of mowed them over lmao#im all for reinterpretation!! the og arent even my favourite of each character!!#but when the energy in key songs on the *soundtrack* of a *musical* sounds kinda bland. idk.#the chorus can get it tho. fiyero and boq can get it theyre Great#cynthias even a good singer! i just dk if i agree with all her Choices. or maybe its a directorial issue. idk!#(there could also be nuance missing from the film version i get that i have no doubt she translates better in the final product.#just the soundtrack alone.)
