Those sinful lips! (Poe x Reader)

Hi!!!! This is my first fic, I just really REALLY love Poe, and English is not my first language so I’m sorry for all the mistakes!

Summary: Poe has the softest lips on the whole galaxy and you love them (pre-relationship)

Words: 1845 !! Wow  

I don’t know who or where the gif belongs to, I’m so sorry!! 

It was his thing. You knew it was his thing. Yet, you coulnd’t help it, you hated it every time he did it. You hated Poe Dameron and his damn perfect plush lips. The first time you felt his mouth against your skin you had just joined the Resistance. You were assigned to fix up a beautiful ship, you felt a little intimidated by it, since you had just arrived, but it seems like your experience as a mechanic in Coruscant was enough. Or maybe they wanted you to prove yourself worthy of being there.

And that you did indeed. You worked really hard on that ship, an barely sleep for a few days. It needed a lot of work, and on some occasion, when you were working on it, your mind wandered off to its last mission, and the whereabouts of its pilot. You hoped they were alright.

You were almost done. And it was late. Really late. But there were only a couple things left to finish. So you set your mind on staying up all night if nedeed. Despiste trying hard to stay awake, sometime in the middle of the night you fell asleep, your body too tired to keep working. You woke up slowly, feeling your whole body ache for the akward position you slept on, leaning on the X-Wing. You got up too fast, groaning once you were on your own feet, and supporting you with one hand on one of the wings. You rubbed your forehead with your free hand and a softer groan escaped your lips this time. When you lifted your head and observed the hangar you noticed it was still dark, you had time to finish what you were doing before the sunrise. Then your eyes fell on your toolbox, there, next to it was a steaming cup of what you suppossed was coffee. You got closer, with your brow furrowed, and when the smell of coffee hit your nostrils you felt your lips curving in a smile instantly. You let out a quiet thank you as your hand reached the cup, thanking whoever had left it there for you, and your smile didn’t flatter for a second while you finished it, closing your eyes as you felt it warm you up. You finished rather quickly after that, and just as the sky was starting to have a clearer tone, you were laying on your bed, falling asleep with a small smile still on your lips.

You got up with the sound of your alarm after a few hours of rest. And when you went to the hangar after eating some breakfast, ready for your new assignment, the X-Wing was gone. It wasn’t on its spot. For a moment you frantically looked for it with your roaming eyes. “Y/N!” You turned to the source of the sound with your whole body. It was a fellow mechanic, you didn’t catch his name just yet. “Hey, Dameron looked really happy with his ship this morning when he left with his squadron! He even said that he wants you to fix his X-Wing again!” He had a big smile on his face and seemed really excited. You felt your face heat up at his words. Dameron? As in the Poe Dameron? He was the pilot of the beautiful ship? You stuttered for a bit and gave him a nod, not knowing what to say. “Y-yeah… thanks? I… I need to know my next assignment…” You looked at him while you talked and saw his smile grow wider. “They were looking for you, just go that way”, you followed the direction your fellow mechanic gave you, thanking him.

After that you were busy all day with little tasks, distracted with them. When the sun was setting you heard commotion coming from the hangar, and you went there, maybe Black Squadron had arrived. Just as you entered the hangar you knew you were right. And for the sight of it, it had been a successful mission. You felt a big smile on your face, everyone looked really happy. Your eyes went to his ship. There he was. It was the first time you actually looked at him. You watched as he took off his helmet and ran a hand though his hair, laughing at something someone said, and you kept watching him as he got out of the cockpit and climbed down the ladder. “Where is she?”, oh, his voice. You felt suddenly hot and ashamed of being ogling him like this, you averted your eyes from him and instead saw someone pointing your direction. “There you are!” You looked at Poe again as he talked, was he looking at you? Was he looking for you? You started panicking as you watched him getting closer to you. This coulnd’t be happening. You coulnd’t stop looking at his face with a smug smile on his lips that only got bigger as he got to you. He looked too happy. You awkwardly waved your hand at him, not knowing what was he doing here, with you. “My ship! It has never worked so well! And the mission went so frickin’ great, I’m telling you, from now on you are my lucky charm!” You felt a smile forming on your lips and bounced a little on your toes, happy to hear him praise you like that. And then it happened. He put his hand on the back of your neck and pulled you to him pressing his soft lips on your forehead for a moment and whispering a quiet “thank you, Y/N” only for you to hear, feeling his lips move against your skin while he murmured it. And as fast as he was on you, he disappeared. Someone touched his back and he turned to talk vigorously with them. Your hand went to the place on your neck that he had touched, feeling your skin hot, and tingling against your own fingers. And then you realized, he had the softest lips you had never felt before.

After that, you often got to fix his ship, and if you were around when he had to go on a mission he would come to you and give you a kiss on your cheek. “A kiss goodluck, see ya’ sweetheart!” He winked at you as he climbed to the cockpit. Every time you felt his lips on your skin you felt it grow hot, and you hated how your fingers traced that same spot again and again for the rest of the day. You hated how it wasn’t anything special. He was a touchable person, and you had seen him kissing so many people already, on the cheek, on the forehead, on their hand. He just kissed everyone, with those sinful lips. And you hated how he felt unaffected every time he kissed you.

You wanted more. Every time you felt his lips on your skin, brushing it, your heart fluttered a bit, and your breath stopped for a second. And everytime you felt more frustrated. You wanted, no, you needed to feel his soft lips caressing the skin on your neck, and you needed them pressed against your own. You didn’t know how much of this you could take.

It was months after that first kiss that you finally snapped. You were eating lunch, and Poe was sitting next to you, his thigh bumping against yours. The whole squadron was there. And when something made him laugh really hard he would put his hand on your leg and squeeze it. God, he was driving you insane. You bit your bottom lip for what seemed to be the hundredth time to keep a soft whine that wanted to escape your mouth. The conversation finally turned to a more serious tone, so you could eat your lunch peacefully at least. You weren’t even listening to their talk, too focused on trying not to think on your legs pressed against each other. But you were aware when Poe stoped his rambling, and you could feel his eyes on you, getting you nervous. You couldn’t eat like this. So you got up with your plate on your hands. If you couldn’t eat at least you could go work, there were things to fix up that needed your attention. You hadn’t even got properly up when Poe grabbed your bare forearm, a question starting to form on his lips. You let out a yelp, his touch burning you, and moved your arm away from his hand too quickly. The sound of your plate crashing against the floor was heard on the whole cantina. You looked at Poe with regret on your eyes. And for what seemed like ages no one let out a word. The silence broke when a droid got to your table to start cleaning the mess you had done. You knew your face was red,and you averted your eyes from Poe’s, ashamed. He was looking at you with those brown eyes, you could tell he was confused, and you barely heard him when he said “...I’m sorry”. But you did. And it was not his fault.

You got on your knees and helped the droid besides its protests. You could hear people returning to their conversations and you let out a trembling breath trying to calm yourself before having to face Poe again. “Shit!” You closed your hand on a fist as you felt your finger sting with a cut. And Poe was there in a second, invading your space once more. When he reached out and grabbed your hand in his you hissed in pain. He gently opened your trembling hand with both of his. And then, he smiled at you as he brought your finger to his mouth. You couldn’t believe this, the feel of his hand wrapping around yours and his hot mouth against your fingertip. He even dared to stick his tongue out and lick it. This time you did left out a whine, sounding too much like a moan for your taste. “Stop”. Your voice sounded much more steady than what you imagined it would sound like. He stopped immediately and dropped your hand. You felt the cold air on your humid fingertip as you got up. “You gotta stop this, Poe”. Now he was the one that looked embarrassed. “Stop what?” You couldn’t take it anymore. “Stop touching me.” Your voice sounded pained when you said it. And he reached out to you but stopped himself just before he touched your skin. You could still feel the heat he was radiating. You could still smell him, and you just wanted to hide your face on the crook of his neck. You looked him firmly on the eyes, and then, just before you turned around, your eyes betrayed you as you looked at that sinful mouth and darted your tongue out to lick your bottom lip. You got out of the cantina fast enough that Poe didn’t have time to process what had just happened and go after you.

The end of the year is approaching, so I thought I’d post some of the fics that I really loved this year. I came back to Tumblr and fanfiction after being away for about 4 years. It wasn’t something that I anticipated, but I’m so glad to be back. It’s my goal to be much better with reading and writing next year. If you’ve had any favorites, please feel free to send those my way as well!

Bread, Salt, Wine, and Tender Loving Care and Of Comfort Foods and Lightning Bugs and Midnight Dances by @dusted-souls /  KyberHearts_And_StardustSouls on ao3 - These are two fics that are tied together, so they both have to be mentioned. The first is a beautiful glimpse into friendship and sickness and what that means for said friendship. Bucky Barnes is shown to be a supportive, kind friend. It is so clear how much of herself Vonny puts into this and god it’s amazing. Be ready for some tears. The follow up is incredibly sweet and has something for all my fellow Sam Wilson lovers out there. Also browse through some of her other Bucky fics, because they’re all incredible.

As It Should Be by @wordsnwhiskey - What can I even say about this? Its a damn masterpiece. Not only are the characters incredibly well written, but you are really in the middle of all the action that takes place. I’m often on the edge of my seat. And jesus fucking christ, the poly representation? YES! You truly feel the love between Frankie, Jack, and the reader together. It’s so genuine for all three and there’s such understanding. I feel like it’s not something I see often and I’m constantly in awe of how great of a relationship it is. You can go and catch up on B’s other Jack fics. They honestly make me love that stupid cowboy.

Black Velvet by @im-poe-dameron / @moonlight-prose - Look, this fucking 80′s bartending Din Djarin lives in my head rent-fucking-free. It’s sexy, it’s angsty, its goddamn beautiful. This is the type of story that just sticks with you. It’s a part of you after reading it. Like your own damn lived memories, but you know, unfortunately they’re not. But it’s just so real. I’m also using this opportunity to tell you to read Jameson’s Bucky fics (really any of her fics...). It’s exactly how I aspire to write Bucky, exactly how imagine him.

Space Age Love Song by @mishasminion360 -  Just a really sweet story of a fish out of water crash landing into our main character’s life. Watching Din be completely out of his element but trying is incredibly sweet. I really love the OC, Sara. She’s sweet and compassionate, but she’s also sure of herself and what she wants. I appreciate a good, strong female character that is still vulnerable and caring.

Distraction by @the-queen-of-fools - Really, any of her sub!Dave fics. I love the care she takes with the subject matter. The warnings and explanations at the beginning are a great touch. They’re such great representation for non-toxic/abusive BDSM relationships. Like I said, the care is there but without losing any sexiness. 

Frankie Morales ficlet by  @silverwolf319 - Just a short and sweet little fic about a morning after with Frankie. Its so lovely and who wouldn’t love a morning like this with Mr. Morales?

Santiago Garcia ficlet by @wyn-n-tonic - Ok, ok. I’m gonna start out by saying I’m painfully behind on her fics. I really need to get caught up on the Frizzy-verse and I hope to be less of a disaster and get to that soon. BUT I re-found this in my fic recs tag and it’s cute and just feels like such a great, established relationship.

Of Cupcakes and Cupid by @asta-lily - I’m a sucker for a good meet cute. And this one with Frankie Morales is just downright adorable.

Princes Never Say Please by @starlightmornings - All three parts. This one took me by surprise a little bit. I’m not normally one to read about loss of virginity. And I don’t read a ton of Oberyn, oddly enough. But this one is really well written and I just couldn’t say no.

Sunday Morning by @toomanystoriessolittletime - Do I really love the idea of just lazing in bed with Frankie Morales? Yes. Yes I do. This is another really sweet one about just that.

Glitter by @sarahwroteathing - Another meet cute. This time with Steve Rogers. Elementary teacher Steve Rogers, to be exact. I hear Steve’s voice so well in this. It’s adorable and had me looking like Marshall Erikson staring at Enrique Iglesias the entire time.

Can’t Remember, Huh? by @221bshrlocked​ - Another thing I’m a sucker for: awkward as hell Bucky. And this definitely fits that bill. I love the teasing, the little twist at the end with the reader. A really fun read.

New year, new me. You told yourself the same thing at the beginning of each school year. 

Although it was usually just said on New Year’s Eve in preparations for the brand new year, you felt it applied to starting a new semester as well: new classes, new teachers, new schedule, new routine. It was also the beginning of your senior year of college, your last first day of school ever. So in a way, you were preparing for something new. You’d graduate before you knew it and then adulthood would creep up on you. 

But you could hardly wait to see what the next two semesters would bring you in the meantime. 

You made sure to leave your apartment early to stop at your favorite coffee stand in the student center. Waving at your friend Qi’Ra behind the counter, you got yourself in line and replied to your mom and sister’s happy first day texts. 

“I knew I’d find you here.”

The familiar voice of your best friend Karé made you smile and you squealed quietly as you hugged her. She had spent the night with her boyfriend Snap after being out of town the last week before school, so you hadn’t seen her after you moved in.

“I’ve missed you! How was your vacation?”

“Awesome as usual. Weather was amazing, we spent everyday out on the water. Snap’s sunburn is finally starting to heal.”

“God yeah, you sent me that picture of his back…that looked awful.”

She nodded. “He was all ‘oh, there’s lots of clouds in the sky, it’s not going to be that bad’ and now I get to hold this over him for the rest of his life.”

You laughed as she rolled her eyes as you finally got to the counter. Qi’Ra already knew your order by heart and, like the first day of every new semester, she gave you your drink free of charge. She whipped it up right away, handing it to you with the promise of getting together soon. You and Karé walked outside, the bright sunshine making your drink sweat and the both wish you didn’t have to spend the next couple hours stuck inside. 

“So, how’s the stuff with your dad going?”

You shrugged. “If I had spoken to him at all since he walked out, I’d have something to tell you.”

Karé’s shoulders slumped. “No…seriously?”

You sighed and nodded as you stirred your drink.

“Not one word. I told you my uncle came by a few days after he left to tell us he was okay?” Karé nodded. “A couple of weeks went by and the next thing I know, he’s filing for divorce. But he hasn’t actually talked to Tallie and I.”

“Y/N, I’m so sorry…”

You sighed heavily and shook your head. “It’s whatever. Nothing I can do. Haven’t talked to him since and he abandoned us for his secretary so I don’t plan on talking to him at all.”

Karé nodded slowly and reached over and squeezed your arm and you gave her a small smile of appreciation.

“Anyway…what class are you off to first?”

“My advanced math class.” You made a face and she chuckled. “Yeah, you’re not jealous at all, are you?”

“Not even a little bit.”

“What about you?”

“Oh, I get to start out my day with my half semester class…three hours, twice a week, tons of homework.”

“Fun. Who’s your professor?”

You grabbed your phone from your pocket, bringing up your schedule and looking at the details.

“Uhhh, Dameron. Heard of him?”

“I think he’s one of the newer teachers here.”

“Well, hopefully he’s good.” You took a sip of your drink and checked the time on your phone. “Guess I’ll go find out.”

“See you later, then.”

Karé gave you a quick hug and you walked in opposite directions. You walked to the building of your classroom and though you were grateful for the air conditioning, you hoped that since it was the first day you’d be let out early. The sun was out, flowers were still blooming along the sidewalks despite the late season. Fall semester was always the one you dreaded the most…stuck inside staring at four blank walls during your favorite kind of weather. 

The classroom was on the third level, which meant minimal traffic in the halls and big windows that showed a great view of campus. The blinds were open, allowing sunlight to flood into the room and making it that much more welcoming. A few students were already seated and the professor nowhere in sight but his stuff at his desk. You made your way into the room, not finding a friend yet, and walked to a seat right around the middle of the room. You took your things out and waited and scrolled through three different social media apps as more students trickled in. Your name was called and you looked up and saw a girl you worked with the previous semester and smiled as she sat down next to you. At least you kind of knew one person in the class. 

“Alright, let’s get started.”

One glance up at the source of the voice was not enough as you practically did a double take. Your professor was an extremely handsome man. Dark hair sat on top of his head in a mess of curls that laid just between styled and unruly. You could see from your seat that his eyes were dark…brown, maybe. He was young; you guessed that he couldn’t be more than thirty-five. As he came around from behind his desk, you took notice of the way his dark blue jeans fit snugly around   big thighs. His sleeves were pushed up to show off tan forearms and as he leaned back against his desk, he crossed his arms in front of his broad chest.

“Good morning, everyone.” Three simple words grabbed the attention of every girl in class. “I’m Professor Dameron. I hope you all had a great summer. I don’t know about some of you, but I am very excited to get this semester going.”

There was some polite laughter. He was using a light, friendly tone of voice, making sure his very first impression on people wouldn’t wasn’t a bad one. 

“Subject-wise, this is one of my favorite classes to teach. The only way I could get this class in this year was to teach it in half the amount of time as a normal class. I’m warning you now, this is going to be a busy class. We are fitting about fifteen weeks worth of stuff into seven weeks. Attendance is going to be very, very important.” 

Some of the students visibly gulped, others nodded slowly as the realization of how much work would have to go into this class started to sink in. “Don’t worry, I will have lots of resources to help you guys. Um, just an example…I will make all of the lectures and slides available on the portal after class, including any key notes from the textbook and discussions that come up during class. That being said, you still need to attend class. I’ll go over more of this when we go through the syllabus.”

You admired him as he spoke. The hint of smile on his face showed his excitement for the class and the new semester. His voice was smooth like honey and you were sure you could listen to him spout off the most boring stuff in the world and not tire of it.

“First things first…attendance.” He turned to grab his clipboard and you and the girl next to you both checked out his ass. “In lied of just calling your names, we’re going to do an icebreaker.”

The collection of heavy sighs made him chuckle lightly. “I know, I know…they’re not always fun and you’ll probably do a whole bunch more after today. Personally, I like to get to know my students. We’ll be spending a lot of time together this semester and the more comfortable you feel talking to me, the more open you’ll be to telling me what you need to help you succeed in this class. So, let’s do it and get it over with. Tell me your name, something fun you did over the summer, your favorite type of music and…what do you think? Favorite color? Favorite animal? “Let’s do favorite animal.”

Glancing around, you saw people look anywhere but at their teacher, hoping they wouldn’t catch his eye and make them go first. 

“Alright, come on guys, you’re acting like I’m going to pull your teeth out. I’ll go first. My name is Poe, this summer I visited my dad in Colorado where I grew up and saw friends that live on both coasts. I’m a big fan of classic rock but catch me jamming to a pop song every now and then…” That got some laughs from the class and he laughed with them. “Seriously, anything by the Weeknd.”

“The Weeknd has a lot of songs about sex,” the girl next to you whispered and you nearly choked as you took a sip out of your water bottle. 

“And my favorite animal is a dog. Alright, let’s start in the back.”

One by one students introduced themselves. He asked questions about their summer jobs and their summer vacations, genuinely interested in the details and making them feel comfortable talking to him. A couple of people named weird animals as their favorite, such as lizards and dinosaurs, that spurred further discussions and got the class completely off track. It was all fun and games until you got to your row and you counted how many people were before you and practiced what you would say in your head.

“Okay, um, I’m Y/N…” Poe looked at the attendance list, finding your name and marking you down in attendance. “I didn’t do anything super special over the summer, just worked my two jobs and went to the cabin with friends and family. I like pretty much any kind of music, as long as it’s got a good beat I don’t really care what genre it is…though I am a sucker for pop music sometimes. And my favorite animal is an elephant.”

Poe cracked a smile and you let out a quiet sigh of relief as the girl next to you introduced herself. As social as you were, you still hated speaking in front of a classroom full of people. 

“Okay, see? That wasn’t so bad.” Poe teased as the last person finished speaking. A few people laughed and you smiled. Almost an hour into class and you already knew this would be one of the classes you’d look forward to the most. “Let’s start going over the syllabus. I’ll have you pass these down and I’ll bring it up on the screen here…”

He handed a stack of papers to a student in the front row and they started passing them down. Poe went back around his desk and connected his laptop to the projector. The desktop image of a Corgi laying in the grass with a toy appeared and you along with half the girls in the class let out not subtle aww’s.

“That’s my dog, Beebs.” Poe smiled sheepishly when he noticed the screen had popped up.

“How old is he?” One of the girls from the back asked. 

“He’s probably three, three and a half…I rescued him as a puppy so I’m not too sure.”

More aww’s filled the room as he brought the syllabus up onto the screen. You grabbed one when it reached you and passed it along and a quick glance through the five pages showed the class schedule and detailed expectations. When everyone had a copy, he started going over it, talking about the schedule in extreme detail and laying out what a typical class day would look like.

Poe finished up the syllabus and gave you a fifteen minute break before diving into the first chapter. His teaching style was the dream, the way that every teacher should teach: not too fast, not too slow, answering every single question before moving on, and making sure everyone was keeping up. 

Despite it being a three hour class, you no longer dreaded it…you knew that Poe would do as much as he could to help you all succeed. 

“Alright, homework for Thursday: chapter two, print out the study guide and start working on it. We’ll finish our chapter one discussion then as well. You’re good to go.”

You gathered up your things, shoving them into your backpack and checking the time to see you had just enough to grab something to eat before your next class. You had just reached the top of the stairs when you realized you hadn’t put your water bottle into your backpack. Letting out an annoyed groan, you doubled back up the stairs towards your classroom. You snuck in past a couple of students that were just leaving and beelined for your desk, making Poe look up at you.

“Sorry, forgot my water bottle.”

You found it tucked under your seat and grabbed it, giving him a small smile as you passed to head back out the door. 

“Why elephant?”

Looking back at him, you saw an easy smile on his face. “Sorry?”

“You said your favorite animal was an elephant. Usually it’s household pets or animals that live in the forest…or apparently lizards and t-rex’s. Why elephant?”

You shrugged with a nervous smile. “I, um…I don’t know. I just think they’re beautiful and strong and they roll around in the mud and water and act like such babies…baby elephants actually suck on their trunks like babies suck on their fingers—“

“Do they?” You blushed hard, feeling like you just made a fool of yourself. “So you don’t just think they’re cute…you’re practically an expert on them?”

His tone wasn’t teasing like you expected, but instead curious at the knowledge you shared. 

“No, I actually saw that on one of those random Facebook videos.”

A heartfelt laugh erupted from his chest and you laughed with him. 

“I know what you’re talking about,” he said as he continued packing up his bag. “They’re those videos that are on random pages you liked years ago or from a news source…I’ve actually found some good recipes from them.”

“So you know. Random but good information.”

He nodded and you felt your phone buzz in your hand. You looked down at it and saw a message and noticed the time. 

“I should go, um I have class…I’ll see you around, Mr. Dameron.”

You gave him a small wave and internally cringed at yourself as you headed towards the door, the flush of embarrassment in your face.

It was going to be an interesting semester.

For the entire day, you haven’t seen Poe. When you woke up, his bedside was empty, except for a handwritten note telling you that he had a lot of things to do today and he’d see you later tonight. You pouted, not liking the feeling of waking up with your boyfriend of several years now. 

You slid out of bed with a sigh and headed for the bathroom. When you looked at the mirror, there was a note reading

Good morning, gorgeous. Well, it’s probably afternoon now. I know how you love to sleep in on the weekends. Anyway, I have a bit of a journey planned out for you. Go ahead and shower and get ready. Your next instructions are hanging with the outfit I bought you yesterday. Love you! xoxo Poe

You were curious as to why Poe was putting you on some sort of journey, but this was probably him just being his usual spontaneous self. So what the hell right?

After your shower and you dressed, the next instruction was for you to meet Rey at the diner you met Poe at. So you grab your bag and keys and away you went. 

As soon as you arrived, Rey was waiting there with your usual order in front of her. You could tell she was excited, but you didn’t want to push, already knowing that she’d refuse to tell you what was going on. Instead, you two ate and chatted and once the food was gone and bill paid for, you received your next step.

You and Rey were going to get picked up by Finn and you were going to grab some food and snacks for a two hour drive that you were going to make. 

You went to the nearest store, grabbing some chips, cookies, a fruit plate, a cheese plate, and some clothes for apparently chilly weather. 

After that, you hopped into the car with your two friends and headed for the unknown destination. 

You decided to text Poe.

You: You’re probably not going to tell me, but should I be worried? You didn’t convince your friends to kill me right?

Poe: Absolutely not! Life would be so boring without you in it, sweetheart. 

You: Aaaaww thanks, babe!

Poe: I gotta go. But I’ll see you soon! I love you!

You: Ugh. Fine. I love you too!

Two hours go by when you’re in good company. The three of you stuff your faces while you roll the windows down and sing terribly to the radio. You felt so alive and free that you forgot you were on a journey until you arrived to your destination. 

It was a beach, but not just any beach. It was the beach where Poe officially asked you to be his girlfriend. He was nervous and stuttering, but so cute and you knew from that moment you’d be falling in love with him. 

The sun was setting and it was definitely starting to get cold. So you changed into leggings and jacket. 

“So last instruction,” Finn says with a smile, “There’s a trail over there. Follow it and you’ll know when you’ve found your destination.”

The two of them hugged you and murmured words of encouragement. You trekked the trail for about twenty minutes and it lead you to an open field. Candles were scattered around the field and in the middle was Poe, sitting on a picnic blanket with a whole set up before him. 

“I didn’t forget an anniversary, did I?” you ask with a teasing grin as you sat beside Poe.

He chuckled and pecked your lips, “No, baby. Nothing like that.” he offers you a glass of wine and you happily take a sip from it.

“So what’s all this then?”

He shrugged, “I just-i wanted to do something for you. Something sweet and romantic and a little bit challenging.” he sighed and looked up. The sun was gone, now replaced by the dark sky littered with twinkling stars.

“I love you, you know that right?” when you nodded, he continued, “You deserve all the love and happiness in the world and,” he lets out a shaky breath and pulls out a velvet box, “I hope I can be the one to give it all to you.”

“Poe-”

“Y/N, I love you so much. You’ve become my everything and more. I want to grow old with you. So, whaddaya say,” he opens the box to reveal his mother’s ring, “Marry me?”

“Poe Dameron, if you think I’d say anything other than ‘yes’, then you’re a complete idiot.” 

When he processes your words, he immediately takes the ring, slipping it onto your finger and pulls you into a kiss. 

Now that this journey ended, another one shall begin.
