Favorite thing about them

I’ve always loved complex villains with sympathetic aspects and Simon is such a good example of one. He’s been through so many awful things since childhood just due to bad luck and corrupt adults, I love how Edgeworth even says this, that he’s a victim of corruption. 

I adore how Simon is written, you get such a clear idea of his character, his motivations, how he came to be how he is. I find it extremely impressive and he’s my favourite ace attorney character arc. He’s sympathetic and understandable, while also being pretty damn awful and I love it a lot! I love villans. His reveal absolutely blindsided me but it was explained so well and tied into the cases so effectively that it felt perfect.

I can’t remember any specifics (don’t have screenshots yet!) but the line where he talks about being too frightened to sleep, frightened every minute of every day, every day of the year, just oof! That hurts! The poor kid! On a different note I also adore all his dialogue in the second case where he’s acting as Baby as possible and lying through his teeth.

Once again I can nooot imagine this guy having many friends, even less so than Knightley. He just can’t view people with anything but distrust or as people to be controlled. Idk how realistic this is but I do like the idea of him being friends with Money and Regina. I imagine that primarily he likes controlling them, and would think Regina is stupid and niave, but is also protective of them (mostly considering all the gross 20+ men trying to hit on 16 year old Regina. Simon may be a murderer but gross. Reaffirms to him how awful humanity is).

Manosouta <3 <3 it’s a little harder thinking of how exactly Simon thinks of the relationship considering everything, but I imagine before he remembered the Event (2 years before canon imo) he did really like him, probably idolised him to an extent as the only person he can trust, which made the betrayal so much worse when he remembered.

He’s nonbinary! Cool with whatever pronouns. When he realises his gender and starts experimenting with different styles of dress/presentation it feels very freeing to at least have something he’s in control of.

He remembered the kidnapping event 2 years before the game. He had a massive breakdown. He refused to tell Knightley what was happening and tried to keep his distance from him. Unfortunately, this was shortly before Knightley was due for a long important trip to Zheng Fa to start working for the president, Simon insisted he go, don’t mind him. The distance from Knightley allowed him fixate on what he’d remembered and start plotting revenge. Maybe if he’d been there they could have worked things out, maybe not. SImon joined the circus so he’d have some distance from Knightley (they’d been living together) and so he’d have more general independence.

I struggle to begin with diagnosing him but he 100% fits all the criteria for PTSD, I’m confident on that. 

Unpopular opinion

From what I’d seen people tend to think he remembered Knightley’s kidnapping incident fairly early on. I’m in the 2 years before game camp.
